Suddenly, I can't scroll using the trackpad anymore.

I just installed Maverick today. On my Google Chrome, it suddenly stopped scrolling down. When I tried to view multiple imagines on Preview, gestures like the two-finger scrolling and the zoom in gestures doesn't work either. Help?

I'm having the same problem all of a sudden. I restarted Chrome and it was fine for two minutes and then it stopped working once again.

  • Is there a way to set my settings in the latest version of Firefox so I can still zoom using the trackpad?

    I have a MacBook. In previous versions of Firefox I could zoom in or out using my trackpad. Is there a way to set my settings in the latest version of Firefox so I can still zoom using the trackpad?

    Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • I can't scroll using the arrow keys!!

    I have been having a problem lately where I cannot scroll within applications using the up and down arrow keys. on my macbook, using the arrow keys is something i liked to do to scroll in a page instead of using the trackpad, and now it doesn't work... I've noticed it in every web browser installed on the laptop (Safari, Firefox, Camino) and also doesn't work in itunes (making it annoying to easily scroll to another song in the library!) or AIM or other programs... anybody know how I can fix this? thanks.

    Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Full keyboard access is useful for people who have difficulty using a mouse. Safari supports standard full keyboard access shortcuts for buttons and menus. If you choose, you can also use the keyboard to highlight links in webpages.
    To turn on full keyboard access:
    Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Keyboard & Mouse.
    Click Keyboard Shortcuts.
    Select the checkbox to turn on full keyboard access.
    To highlight links in webpages using the Tab key:
    Choose Safari > Preferences and click Advanced.
    Select the option to highlight each item on the web page using the Tab key.
    With full keyboard access turned on, Safari uses the standard shortcut keys to access menus and windows, plus the additional shortcuts shown in the table.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Why can't I use the trackpad to change users?

    I have a June 2009 MBP.  I updated to Maverick's recently, although my problem dates back to Lion.  When I log out to change users the trackpad does not allow me to click on another user.  The mouse will respond to the movement, but when you try to tap or click on another user to log in it does not work.  My magic mouse also doens't work at all once I log out.  Right now I keep an old USB mouse handy just for switching users.
    Any thoughts on why this happens or how I can fix it?

    When login screen appears, try to hard click the trackpad to register the click.
    Tap to click will be only enabled after you login.
    Best.

  • I upgraded to firefox 4 (from 3.x) and since then I can't scroll using the trackpoint on my IBM R40 laptop. It does work in other applications including foldres, explorere etc.

    It worked until I downloaded the last version of firefox, and it still works with any other application except ff.

    Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
    This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
    Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

  • Why can't I use the radio anymore on my iPad

    I updated my iPad last week to iOS 7 and I've been using the radio all week and all of the suddenly I can't use it today why has this happened ?

    Understand about the Wifi - but does the wifi you are connecting to actually connected to the internet? The bars just indicate that your device can connect to the wifi router - does not indicate internet connectivity.
    BTW - if you are responding to this thread from your iPad just ignore my suggestion.
    Then I would try the reboot that was suggested above.

  • Since the last 2 updates to Firefox my screen flickers or blanks out when I scroll my mouse, or type. I also can't scroll using the side bar on the right side of the screen. Please help!

    As detailed in my question. I need help as my screen has been flickering or blanking out when I scroll my mouse or when I type. This has only started happening since the last 2 updates to Firefox.

    Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.<br />
    If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.<br />

  • When using Safari I am unable to scroll with the trackpad when on a PDF browser plugin page.

    I can't scroll with the trackpad when I have a PDF open in Safari, I have to go use the scrollbar. Is there a way to fix this?

    Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
    There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
    If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
    and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
    From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
    Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • In Finder , why i can't go back and forward using the trackpad in Mountain Lion?

    In Finder , why i can't go back and forward using the trackpad in Mountain Lion?

    Hi. I also got the same problem but just learnt a way to resolve it. No need for 3rd party software.
    If you don't care much about the Three finger drag gesture, and just want to swipe between pages in Finder and web browsers, please follow these:
    System Preferences/Trackpad/More gestures/Swipe between pages/Scroll left or right with 2 fingers. This option works solely for web browsers.
    In order to swipe between pages in Finder, web browsers and other apps as well,change the option to Swipe with two or three fingers. (3 for Finder and apps, 2 for web pages)
    If you also want to use Three-finger drag to move windows and drag-select:
    The problem occurs once you change to "Swipe with 2 or three fingers", Lion will automatically disable/uncheck the Three finger drag function in Trackpad/Point&Click. Or the other way around, you tick Three Finger drag, Swipe between pages automatically switches to Scroll with two fingers because these 2 functions are overlapped.
    My solution is:
    stick with initial option Scroll with two fingers for navigating between web pages.
    Re-tick Three finger drag in Point&Click.
    Use combination: Option+Swipe 4 fingers for Finder and other apps (although it functions reversely, Swiping left to go backward, swipe right to go forward)
    My current gesture routine:
    - Swipe between web pages: Scroll with two fingers.
    - Swipe between pages in Finder and other apps: Combination Option+swipe 4 fingers
    - Swipe between full-screen apps (desktops): Swipe left or right with 4 fingers
    - Drag select and navigate windows: Three finger drag
    - Mission Control - Swipe up with 4 fingers. (avoid conflict with three finger drag)
    * You can actually use combination Option+Swipe 4 fingers for everything (apps, finder, web pages) but I personally prefer swipe 2 fingers for web browsing. It's just easier and quicker and avoid conflicts with other gestures.
    Hope this help.

    Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
    You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

  • Why can't I scroll using the scroll wheel

    Today (01/31) I installed my new computer (HP h9-1180 Phoenix). I'm connected to a home network with two computers (#1 new, #2 old, and laptop).
    For some reason, no matter what mouse I use, I'm unable to scroll using the scroll wheel. If I want to scroll down a page, I have to use the scroll bar in the right margin.
    Is this a problem with this model computer or is there a file missing somewhere?
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thank you.

    what mouse are you using mostly and what part of the screen or app that you are on to use it ?
    and what OS are you using

    I have installed Adobe Reader 11.0.07 for Mac OS 10.9.3. Have asked this question numerous time without results. The problems I am having are: I cannot scroll using the side slider on downloaded PDF files, nor can I fill in fillable files. Also, and this is extremely irritating, I cannot re-initialize the same file or initialize and another PDF file after I have initialized the first file. If you cannot help please let me know if should use an earlier  version of Reader or find anther company that has the appropriate software.

    Perhaps you missed that you started a discussion at I have OS 10.9.2 and have downloaded latest version of Reader 11. I can no longer fill in form or scroll using the side bar. and you did not respond to the last post there.

  • Can I stop the Finder icons from changing size while I use the Trackpad?

    Very frustrating:
    Often when I touch my trackpad and I'm in finder the icons/folders get very small! Have to go back to "Finder" then "View" amd "show view options" to reset them to 48x48.
    Is there a way to lock the change of their sizes (but still use the trackpad for touch sensitive stuff)?

    System Preferences>Trackpad. Uncheck Pinch to Open and Close.

  • When I load Safari on my IPAD2, the web page comes up, but I can't scroll down the page. No matter what web page I go to the content stays darker than the navigation bar. This just started today. All other applications work fine.

    When I bring up Safari on my IPAD2, the web page comes up, but I can't scroll down the page. This just started today. No matter what web site I go to, the content is darker than the navigation pane.

    If it's happening on all sites, then assuming that it's Safari that you're using, have you tried clearing it's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (other browsers should have similar options, possibly within the actual app instead of within Settings). You could also try closing the app completely : from the home screen double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app (or whichever browser you're using) to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    If it's only happening on a particular site then there may be content on that site that isn't supported on the iPad e.g. flash, java, silverlight
