I used to go on several websites without a problem, one being www.udel.edu/udsis but now all of a sudden when I try to open these websites it says "Safari can't connect to server". At first I thought my computer had the problem, but when I tried the other mac in my house I had the same issue. The next day I visited family in another state and brought my computer with me, I typed those website addresses in and they opened without a problem. But now I'm back at home and I still can't open those websites. What gives?
Leads one to suspect an ISP issue. Yours. Perhaps for the moment though. In any case I like to use OpenDNS servers for safety and speed.
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS
In the left side column click on the + sign and insert the following:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click OK, then click Apply.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

After upgrade to 7.0.6 both IPad and iPhone now will not send or receive Icloud email while at home. Get "Cannot connect to server " message. All other email accounts (google, verizon) work fine. Plus the "last backup" information unavailable as well as icloud storage information. Says unavailable, try again later. Also cannot view body of emails sent or received in the last 2 days. I am at work now and all works normally. If this is a wifi issue, I I do not understand why all other email accounts are sending receiving ok. It's only the Icloud server that seems to be the problem.
Hey there KevGelay!
I have an article for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue with your ability to access iCloud mail:

Cannot connect to server on one email on 5s
My iphone 5s says "cannot connect to server" when I attempt to retrieve email on 1 of my email accounts
Hi chiknfoot1,
If you are having issues with getting email from one of your email accounts, take a look at the article below to resolve most issues with the Mail app on your iPhone. Check the settings and make sure that you are connected to the right email servers. You may end up having to remove the email account and then add it back in.

Scan to Email Error Message "cannot connect to server. check server name and address"
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
I've been using this printer for several months. Now am getting an ERROR message when I try to scan to email that it "cannot connect to server. check server name and address"
I'm not sure how to check this. We can all still print remotely via the internet connection.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the info.,
Did you recently change your operating system or network router that started to cause this error?
Check out this thread - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Configuring-quot-Scan-To-E-mail-quot-on-HP-...
You may also need to change the printer DNS settings manually - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/HP-8500-Scan-to-Email-setup-cant-conne...

When trying to get email, says "cannot connect to server"
set up email at store, everything was fine. then clicked mail and says "cannot connect to server", yet I can use safari, etc. deleted and re-added the email account
that mean your email server is having problems or unavailable at the moment. Contact them.

My email last updated this morning and it keeps saying cannot connect to server, has anyone had this problem?
If you cannot connect to your incoming mail server, then you need to check your mail account and the incoming mail settings. What is the rest of the error that it shows about not being able to connect to the server. It should provide you with more info.

My email was working great, I tried sending a large attachment and couldn't, I cleared that and now my email cannot connect to server, internet is working fine, any suggestions?
Sometimes it helps to close the mail app and reboot the iPad. That will reset the app and the iOS system. Try mail again after that.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Mail app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
TimeMachine cannot connect to server popup on MBP when roaming.
Time machine has suddenly started popping up an error message saying that it cannot connect to server while off-network on my MBP. I use a timecapsule to wirelessly backup when I am home. At home, it connects fine, no messages, no errors. It just started doing this when I am away - previously it either silently ignored not being able to connect or made a local snapshot. Either would be fine over popping up the message (multiple times).
I've tried the following so far:
1. Re-install Lion, restore user, applications, settings from backup - did after an erase of MBP lcoal harddrive to get a full install.
2. sudo tmutil disablelocal; sudo tmutil enablelocal; sudo tmutil snapshot - all worked fine
3. repaired permissions on local hard drive.
4. verified time capsule.
5. Added timecapsule disk to privacy settings on spotlight
6. I do use dropbox - tried quiting out of it
7. Changed name of time capsule disk
Console messages:
4/15/12 8:48:44.073 PM com.apple.backupd: Attempting to mount network destination URL: afp://[email protected]/Study%20Time%20Cap
4/15/12 8:48:49.077 PM com.apple.backupd: NAConnectToServerSync failed with error: 64 for url: afp://[email protected]/Study%20Time%20Cap
Please help make the popup go away! All I want it to do is be silent when it can't connect.
ThanksI THINK I may have tracked this down. I wiped my drive and did a clean install. Then I started installing applications back one by one, testing the time machine backup between each install. After each install I turned off the wireless interface and forced a time machine backup with "backup now." One of the first things I put back on was SOPHOS AV 8, and immediately I started seeing the problem. Wierd that Sophos could effect time machine that way, but now that I've looked on Sophos's support page, I found this:
http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Time-Machine-compa tibility-error-when-time-capsule-is/m-p/6273
I've removed Sophos (something I don't love doing), and waiting until the next scheduled backup, but so far it's looking promising. If it doesn't work, I'll start over and load everything up again without Sophos and see how it goes. -
