Suddenly I consistently receive 3 or more "Cannot Get Mail" messages but all messages are received

I have over a dozen email accounts on my iPhone, a mix of godaddy, gmail... imap and pop. All of them were working fine, and then last week I started getting "Cannot Get Mail" messages, 2 or 3 back-to-back, every time mail is retrieved.
The thing is, I am receiving all messages from all mail accounts, despite these messages. So I have no way of knowing which service they are a result of. I have gone into settings to each account and resaved it, to see if the validation would fail on any, but all are fine.

    It sounds like you have modified the password settings for your Gmail account after changing the password. Thats where I would have started too. Next I would restart the device and test it one more time, and then remove and add the account again in Settings:
    Get help with Mail on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Restart your iOS device.
    Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap the affected email account.
    Tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

    I am using an iPhone5 and keep getting a message that says cannot get mail as username or password are incorrect.  They're not!have tried deleting and reinstalling but this doesn't work either. Have also reset phone no luck!I am receiving my Sky emails on both my iPad and MacBook so can't understand why phone won't work?Any help would be appreciated...thank you!

    Having the same issue as well.  Says my password is incorrect.  Have tried accessing the sky email via their website, but it won't let me progress past the confirmation of details screen, where I have to agree to the terms and conditions..  Just returns to the sky help page.  this is becoming a serious issue as I cannot access any of my emails . Have also deleted the account on iPad and tried with a yahoo account, but still no joy.   Anyone found a fix for this yet?

  • Microsoft Exchange email stopped working "Cannot Get Mail" message

    About 4 days ago my work email stopped working altogether. Every time i open the application, a message 'Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed.' appears. This happened about a day after i installed 2.2 firmware.
    I spoke with my IT department and they haven't made any changes on the server.
    I deleted all mail accounts on my phone but to no avail. I did a complete restore of the phone and it still doesn't work.
    I had my phone replaced yesterday for a different issue, it came with 2.1 software and i still was not able to connect to the server.
    One more thing, when i initially set up the account, i get an error message 'Unable to Verify Certificate'.
    The email was working fine for about three months before that.
    Any help would be very much appreciated since it's my work phone and i rely on having access to my email everywhere i go.

    Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Receiving Cannot get mail message when attempting to access Yahoo mail

    I'm receiving this message using my Iphone 4s and I've seen some posts that suggest deleting the account and then re-adding it.  I've tried this a few times with no luck.  I also changed my password, but that didn't work either.  I'm not sure what to try next.  I am able to access my work e-mail (using Outlook) through my phone so I'm not sure why the phone can access Outlook, but not Yahoo.  Any suggestions?

    After persisting for about 24 hours, this problem has disappeared. I did in fact walk away and do something else for a few hours although the computer was left asleep not off. A day later all remains OK so I'm really no wiser as to just what or where the problem was. Regardless much thanks for your assistance.

  • Recently getting the "Cannot Get Mail" message on the iPhone 4?

    2 months ago when the message first started appearing we could close mail on the Mac mini, and then receive emails on the the iPhone, but not any more? Have not seen any new e-mails on the iPhone since May 5.
    The message also says "The account Telus is in use on another device"?
    Has anyone encountereed this same message before?

  • Cannot get mail message only with hotmail

    every time I try to read my hotmail i receive this message, everything was working perfectly until a month ago and then I stop receiving push notifications, and isn't syncing with hotmail server
    anyone knows any solution to this problem. I even restore my iPhone 4 but it still not working only works with my gmail account

    Unless you are accessing your Hotmail account as an Exchange account with the iPhone's Mail app, you've never had Push notifications with your Hotmail account nor synced the account with the Hotmail server. Push access for received messages and syncing server stored mailboxes with the server is supported when accessing the account as an Exchange account only.
    Email account settings are included with your iPhone's backup. If there is a problem with the account settings on your iPhone and/or with your iPhone's backup in regards to this particular data, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup will also restore the problem putting you right back where you started.
    Have you tried deleting and manually recreating the account on your iPhone?

    I am having problems with mail where I am receiving this message:
    There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “@gmail.com” or try again.
    The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.
    The server returned the error: Too many simultaneous connections. (Failure)
    The password is correct and I can log on to gmail directly and not have any problems.
    I also have another email account for a business from a seperate server that never has any problems so I know that it is not an internet connectivity problem.
    Does anyone know how I resolve this issue?

    When I try to check mail on 3G connection, it says my password or user name is incorrect. It works fine over wireless. I've tried reentering the password and reconfiguring, but nothing works over 3G.

    OK, hubby figured this out for me.  Apple support were nice people but could not get the answer.  Network Solutions online info was incorrect or incomplete. I do not remember exactly.  However, the email that Network sent was EXACT.   No info as to password reset but they gave the correct port numbers and .....Connection!

  • Yahoo Mail - Unable to delete and Cannot Get Mail errors

    A few days ago my Yahoo mail started acting up.
    I keep on getting "Unable to move message" errors when trying to delete mail. The proper folder is selected as the trash folder under settings. Sometimes message do delete however, but mostly they do not.
    I am also getting periodic Cannot Get Mail errors, but mostly I am able to receive mail.
    This leads me to believe that this might be a yahoo issue (I opened a support request with them also) I have deleted the account from my iPhone and recreated it several times, but the problem persist.
    Anybody else having similar issues with Yahoo mail ?

    I opened a ticket with Yahoo, a day later they came back and advised that they made some changes to my account, but it still does not work.
    There is something strange about how Apple and Yahoo communicates, I think there is some exchange in the middle that is causing the problems. The reason for me saying this is the error I got periodically stating that "Cannot Get Mail, The user name or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect". Why imap.APPLE.mail.yahoo.com ???
    I did however setup a "Other" mail type account using the POP and SMTP settings from Yahoo and it works like a charm now, no more problems and I can now even use a different reply to e-mail address. Only issue might be that you no longer have the Yahoo side custom mail folders on the iPhone, but this is no big deal for me.
    For the incoming server I used pop.mail.yahoo.com with my Yahoo username and password (username without @yahoo.com)
    For outgoing, SMTP, Hostname I used smtp.mail.yahoo.com with my Yahoo username and password (username without @yahoo.com), SSL = ON, authentication = Password and server port 465
    Under advanced settings for outgoing mail server, Use SSL = ON , authentication = Password and server port 995.
    I am not claiming that I understand all of the above, but it works. Hopefully this may point you in the right direction.

  • Why does my mail keep saying "Cannot get mail"

    Synced my Yahoo account with my phone and recieved mail for a few months. About three weeks ago I recieved a message when I open my Mail app that says "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed." I also received an email that said "Recently, we have detected some unusual activity on your account and as a result, we've temporarily locked it for your protection. You may unlock your account immediately by logging in on a PC. If you have additional questions, please visit us at ___ to get the help you need. Sincerely, Your yahoo customer experience team."
    I logged in to my account on my laptop and everything seemed to fix itself and everything was fine when I get on my computer but I am still not able to get new mail through my phone. It still keeps giving me the "Cannot Get Mail" message on my phone.
    Any thoughts?

    Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    Restart your iOS device.
    Delete the affected email account from your device.
    Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
    Add your account again.

  • Anyone getting message "cannot get mail" on iphone using yahoo?

    Couple of days back when I tried to log into my yahoo.com mail account, I received a full screen message that yahoo.com thought my password was compromised and requested I supply a new one.  I didn't look at the url to see if it was from yahoo.com or trustworthy (darn it!).  I decided not to change my password and was allowed to go on to yahoo.com mail.  Then later when I tried to check my yahoo.com email from my iphone4, I got this message that "cannot get mail" and my password must be incorrect.  I went back to the yahoo.com mail on my Macbook and, after getting the same warning message as before, I did enter a new password.  Then tried to get into yahoo email on the iphone4 and succeeded.  The next day, I tried to get into yahoo email from the iphone4 and I got the darn "cannot get mail" message on the iphone4.  I've tried deleting the yahoo mail account on the iphone4 and reinstalling it, but no luck.  Still get same message!  Anyone know what to do?

  • Gmail Message "Cannot Get Mail.  The connection to the server failed"

    Curious if anyone else has seen the "cannot get mail" message pop up when using the iphone 4 mail in iOS. I only get it for my gmail and only when I select the all inboxes option. When I select only the gmail account, I don't see this pop up. My email downloads fine, but for some reason this message continues to show up every time I access it. Starting to get annoying.
    Any solution as to how to keep this from popping up. Maybe changing something within the gmail account setup or preferences on the iphone?
