2 Days ago everything was working fine, today I turn on my computer and the only sound I get is at startup. I've tried loading iTunes and I get an apple error code 0x666D743F. Thank you for the reply. I have tried resetting the PRAM and nothing. I have deleted pref files that might have something to do with the issue and again nothing.
I have done this so far:
1. Reset PRAM
2. Rebooted in safe mode with preference files deleted or moved from the Library (com.apple.soundpref.plist and om.apple.systempreferences.plist)
3. Done a virus, worm, trojan sweep - nothing
4. Made sure AUdio MIDI setting are as they should be ( although the speaker config option gives me sound from my speakers )
5. Defragged, repaired permissions, repaired disk etc...
6. Booted from OsX CD
Still no sound.
Should I wipe the drive and reinstall a fresh OS? Do you think this might help at all?
I am sure it isn't the soundcard hardaware or I wouldn't get a startup sound or sound at when I use the speaker configuration in AUDIO MIDI, right?

I was trying to sync my iPod when all of a sudden I have 6.9 GB of information under the section "other" and I don't know where it came from and because of it I can no longer sync my iPod because there is too much info to fit. How do I get rid of this random information which I can't find any cause for on my iTunes library? Most of my content is audio at 7GB, my video is at .14GB, and I'm up to date in my software, and I have searched my iTunes for this 6.9GB of information and can find nothing that is in there that shouldn't be in there, so where did it come from? Where did it go? And how do I get rid of it? I have a Mac OS X Version10.6.8

"Other" represents data that iTunes can't recognize. A few hundred mb of other is normal. The 6.9 gb you have represents corrupted data (maybe from an interrupted sync or some other glitch).
Sometimes, syncing one more song can clear up the extra other. If not, you'll need to restore your iPod. Here are the instructions: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound. Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and its the icon; press home again to exit the taskbar. If that doesn't solve it then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Uh .... Yes you can. You just have to understand how the whole thing works.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I used to have over 600 songs in my library- 50 or so puchased via i tunes and the rest painstakingly uploaded from CD's over the years. Since signing up to i cloud the only songs are the ones purchased. Have the others permanently gone?

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.

Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Suddenly I have no sound on my system

I've only just upgraded to Leopard. In system preferences it's showing that no output devices have been found. My iMac G5 still has it's inbuilt speakers yet there is no audio playback in any application, system sound, etc - why should this suddenly be?

Well, I don't know what the problem was, but a reboot has cured it - Leopard, don't frighten me like that!

Suddenly I have no sound today on my pc.

HP pavilion dv6, windows 7
No sound either for computer turning on or for iTunes, have checked all adjustments for volume mute is not on.

You have a couple of options as I see it.
Please First check if the speaker icon on the unit is not muted.
Go to device manager and uninstall the Sound driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.

Does my iPhone 5S case have to include a black ring around the camera cutout?

I am getting the gold 5S and I want to get a case to complement the color of the phone. However, all of the champagne-colored cases I can find do not have a black ring around the camera cutout. I was just wondering if the black ring is necessary to the flash and what not.

It just really depends on how thick the case is and how big the camera hole cutout is. If it's anything thicker than any case labeled thin or ultra thin, you'll want that black ring otherwise all your pics will be washed out.
