Suddenly impossible to publish site to mobileme

Hi everyone,
Both my mother and I have a site, made on iWeb and published to our MobileMe account —both totally apart: she's in France, I in Chile— and we both have been having the same problem for a couple of months: when we want to publish new content, we get a "publishing error" message and no new content is uploaded.
Has anyone else experimented the same trouble? Does anyone have a clue about what's going on? My mom consulted an Apple reseller, and he couldn't find what it was...
Thanks,
Bonnie

There should be no need at all to re-build your site? Why did the Apple rep tell you this?
.Mac as it was and MobileMe have absolutely nothing to do with re-building your site at all. To build your site you use iWeb. iWeb is a web authoring package and that is where it ends - you use this to build your site and then publish and that is it. It has nothing to do with MobileMe which is separate and is the Apple server that hosts your site.
If you have a domain name, then the fix for your problem is probably as simple as going to your domain name registrars website and going to the DNS setting and altering your CNAME forwarding from web.mac.com to web.me.com.
Also, .Mac because MobileMe at least three years ago now. Are you really saying that you have not updated your site in 3 years? All the upgrades etc., were dealt with via the software updates, so it was not a dramatic switch - the .Mac disappeared and then the MobileMe cloud appeared in its place. All you should have to do is go and alter all your settings from web.mac.com to web.me.com and that should fix your problem.
There should be no reason to re-build your website at all, unless you want to of course.
Sometimes, I do wonder about the Apple reps and what they tell people!

  • Comments show in iWeb, but not on published site (on Mobileme)

Does anyone know how I can get the comments I see on my blog entries in the iWeb app to show up on my website when published (I'm using Apple's Mobileme service).
They have always worked in the past, and I recently redesigned the site. I changed the theme from a predesigned one to the blank white one (and then designed my own look). As stated before I can see the people's comments in iWeb, but when I published all the previous entries (in the new design), the comments aren't showing in the archive page nor the individual entry pages. Is there a fix?

Oh, rats. Do I need to remove the folder that I published to? I'm not even sure where to find it. I have republished successfully with the comments still in iweb but they don't show up on-line. I'd really like to get them back on if possible.

  • Published site to MobileMe-Page that comes up is iDisk

I'm having a real problem publishing and viewing my site. I'm at www.cjhazer.com and have made the proper changes needed for CNAME alias and have entered my site name. When I publish my pages and go to view them, I'm given a login page and am directed to iDisk page. What am I doing wrong? I've followed the instructions to the letter.

I got my answer through tech chat. Using caps in my web address in settings is what caused the problem. All I had to do is change my address of [email protected] to [email protected] Easy peasy.

  • Publishing a web album to an existing site (non MobileMe)

I'm a complete newbie to iMac, and iWeb. I have an existing website to which I'd like to publish a photo gallery. Can I do this in iWeb? So far I can only see how to publish to a MobileMe site which I'm not interested in getting. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

From iWeb, click on publish to a folder rather than MME and the site will be published to the Sites folder where you can upload to your server using Cyberduck or any other ftp client that you choose to.

  • IWeb wont publish updated pages to site using Mobileme

Tried to publish 2 updated pages to my current iWeb site published on Mobileme. Am directed through a Facebook username and password login. (Don't remember this step from prior publishing.) Then nothing happens. No site update. No option to publish site available within iWeb. And no way I see to save my changes made in iWeb before I exit the program to try to figure out. I have lost work twice. What is happening and how do I correct the trouble?

You must have checked the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site."
Click the site name at the top of the left column in iWeb to get to the Publishing Settings page to change this.

  • HT1338 I am looking to publish a web site I created in iWeb to another hosting provider.  I have never published this site to MobileMe nor do I have a MobileMe account

Hi Larry, no experience with iWeb, (which is ending soon), but what kind of files & folders does it make locally?
You need a Wb Hosting service & an ftp client, if you need more info reply with that & what kind of files/folders it made.

  • Publishing iWeb site using MobileMe

I created a new website using iWeb, set up the CNAME alias, and published it using MobileMe. iWeb indicates the website has been published. When I go to the website, I get an error message:
    Directory Listing Denied
This virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed.
    Help!?

I followed the thread and performed the activities to test the site. I too was able to see the site. When I looked at the URL for the actual site, it still shows mac, not mobileme. Is this part of the problem?

I'm using Netfirms for the domain name, it was all fine until I used the "Masking" feature. When I selected the "On" radio button, I lost all my graphics and the navigation bar on my site. Now I'm not sure if I have to start from scratch, or if that would make a difference.
    Thanks!

If that's the only place you used that unique font, yes.  Convert the textbox to an image file by applying a drop shadow to the font and setting the opacity of the drop shadow to 5%.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Apple didn't include web storage on iCloud. There are other web hostings (Blogspot, GoDaddy, etc.)

  • Can't publish anything to MobileMe

Suddenly, I am unable to publish anything to MobileMe.
I had been working on some sites, publishing changes. Then iWeb-09 stopped publishing the changes. Pages remain RED, although iWeb-09 goes through the motions of publishing and gives me the dialog telling me that the site has been published.
I've tried restoring a back up of the Domain file, but it still won't publish.
I've tried making a totally new site (adding a 'new site' to my list of sites and simply using a blank template). No go. It won't publish.
I have no network problems. I can see network traffic uploading and downloading.
Anyone else experiencing problems at the moment?? Or any suggestions of what may be causing the problem?

    Micahel,
Did you ever get this fixed? It's killing me to! OMG! This is my post:

  • Supprimer un site sur mobileme

Impossible de supprimer un site et ses pages publié via iWeb sur mobileme. Impossible d'accéder à la racine et donc impossible d'y déposer autre chose avec un autr éditeur html.
Exisite-t-il un chemin vers la racine et y faire le ménage en ftp ?
Via me.com, le site n'apparaît pas.
    Une aide serait la bienvenue.
    Merci

Impossible to delete a site and its pages published via Iweb on mobileme. Impossible to access the root and therefore impossible to drop something else with a other novel editor html. Is there a path to the root and do the household in ftp? Via me.com, the site does not appear. Assistance would be welcome. Thank you
If you want to remove a site from MobileMe mount your iDisk on the Desktop
Go to the iDisk/Web/Site folder and look for the folder with your site name. Drag the folder to the Trash bin and you have removed that web site.
To upooad another site to your iDisk you can use the Finder  and drag and drop or an FTP application that uses the WebDAV protocol for transferring files such as the free Cyberduck.

  • Publish site changes edits every folder in "entries" directory

I utilize Lytebox slideshows in my blog entries and have an issue with MobileMe erasing the necessary Lytebox files from every blog Entries directory (Web/Sites/Site Name/Site Name/Entires/Year/Month).
I always update my website via Files>Publish Site Changes. I publish to MobileMe so that I can make my site private.
I expect MobileMe to overwrite the files in the Entries folder for the specific blog entry I have created/changed, but why are the Lytebox files erased from every single Entries folder? I just did a test by making a minor change to a blog entry, publishing site changes and then using Cyberduck to check the Entries directory. Sure enough, every folder in that directory was modified.
As a result, every time I make any changes to my website, I have to upload the Lytebox files to every Entries folder, currently I have 15 of them.
Any reason MobileMe is doing this? Can I avoid this from happening? If not, I'll post another question about how to quickly and automatically upload the lytebox files to every Entries folder.
    Thank you.

Any 3rd party files/folders used for java based slideshows in an iWeb site should be placed in the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and linked to there and NOT in the site's folder itself for the very reason you're experiencing. That is, they get deleted when the site is republished. It's the nature of iWeb.
You should use the following URL to link to a particular file in the Lytebox folder (assuming that folder is named Lytebox): http://web.me.com/MobileMeAccount_Name/Lytebox/Filename.

  • Publish Site Changes Grayed Out

I'm having trouble publishing new pages to my website. Previously when I clicked on "Publish" the pages went directly to my MobileMe/iDisk account. iWeb would then ask if I wanted to tell others and/or go to the site. Now it tells me that my pages have been published to the "selected folder." I believe the problem stems from my installation of Webcrusher. Since my pages have a lot of images I want to do all I can to secure rapid loading of the pages and Webcrusher seemed a good solution. But I think it configured iWeb to load the pages to the "selected file". I have found the "selected file" and it did contain the new pages. So did my domain file in the standard iWeb folder in the Library Directory.
So, I want to get back to iWeb publishing directly to MobileMe but the Publish Site Changes button is grayed out. I have taken the following actions to reactivate the button: uninstalled Webcrusher (using Clean App), deleted the preferences file, rebooted (numerous times), reinstalled iLife '09, and tried launching iWeb by clicking directly on the domain file. Button is still gray.
I know that I have the option of using an FTP or even dragging the pages to iDisk (although that part confuses me since I can't really seem to find the "pages" just all of the bits and pieces of same) but I would really like to have the simplicity of my iWeb back.
    All help appreciated.

What is it you want to do at this time? If you want to start publishing directly to MMe the click on the site folder in iWeb and change the setting to Publish to MobileMe:

  • Google map widget does not show up in published site. Any suggestions?

After I've dragged the google map widget onto my page and publish it, it does not show up in the published site. Any suggestions?

Try publishing to a local folder and double clicking the index.html file to launch your site in the browser direct from your hard disk to see if the map works.
Where are you publishing to - MobileMe or another server?
