  • Suddenly, iTunes doesn't open, and crashes machine

    Hello chaps,
I've been running iTunes on my Vista PC for a year or so with no problems at all. Last night, for no apparant reason (I hadn't installed any new software etc.), it broke. When I tried to run iTunes, it didn't open, and my PC hung - forcing me to do a hard reboot.
I tried again and the same thing happened. This morning I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and ran the installer - it seemed to install OK, but the same problem still occured.
I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes yet - I don't want to lose my long-standing library. Is there a way of exporting it - given that I can't run iTunes?
    Help!

    Hi,
even if this will not help you, I think iTunes from 8.0.1 on is unstable. I have installed 8.0.2 yesterday and iTunes is freezing my mac everytime I want to open it (hard reboot necessary). I am quite upset that Apple is putting such a bad update on the market. I have to wait now till they release a new version of iTunes.
    nevertheless have a beautiful saturday!

My iTunes doesn't open any more all of a sudden, though Task Manager has listed it in "Processes". Quicktime and everything else works, though.

Can you tell me what to do?
Fyi: I'm using Windows 7 and iTunes version 10.7.

Sometimes it will open 10-15 minutes later. It worked just fine until a few weeks ago. I have tried running as Administrator, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling multiple times. Not sure what else I can do. I need to use iTunes to synce my mom's iPhone 4S and my iPod touch 3 Generation. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Itunes doesn't open when i plug in my iphone

iTunes doesn't open when i plug in my iPhone

You may have an incomplete iTunes installation.  Uninstall your iTunes and Re-install again.
If this still fails, try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Itunes doesn't open when my ipod touch 4g is connected, consequently it won't charge or sync

itunes doesn't open when my ipod touch 4g is connected, consequently it won't charge or sync

I was surprised too, but I guess nobody gave a cr*p. I figured it out on my own. Basically, sync, then uncheck the box for the option to open iTunes when that iPod is hooked up, sync again, then check the box, and sync one last time. A dialog box pops up that asks if it's OK to install "iTunes Helper". Say "yes". Now it works.

  • Itunes doesn't open after monolingual use, any further ideas?

I installed Monolanguage and now iTunes doesn's open any more.
tried everything mentioned here and in other forums.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.
    I uninstalled Monolanguage
    I uninstalled and reinstalled Flip4Mac
    I deleted te TLSC file
I repaired the rights of access
    I rmoved Flip4Mac and Quicktimeplayer
I restarted the system serveral times
    Nothing helps.
    Any more ideas?
How can I delete and reinstall iTunes without loosing all my data and backups etc.?

"Monolanguage" as you say several times, or "Monolingual" as in your topic?
Flip4Mac has nothing to do with iTunes.
You have to be careful using Monolingual It can remove components other applications expect to be there.  I don't know how it affects iTunes, though it could conceivably be looking for language support you no longer have.
If you're getting so desperate for hard drive space that you're using Monolingual then you may want to think about moving other files off, or buying a bigger hard drive.
You may want to consider re-installing your operating system  or restoring your computer from backup if you really think this was caused by using Monolingual.

  • ITunes doesn't open when I connect my iPhone

i upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. Since then every time I connect my iPhone, iTunes doesn't open automatically. And the phone restarts every time I connect to computer. Please help.

One other thing to check. When you plug in your iPhone, open iTunes to sync it, and on the Summary Page for the iPhone, look near the bottom of it for the Options section. Put a check in the box that says: Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected. That should automatically open iTunes and start the syncing every time you connect it to the computer. Hope this does it for you.

  • ITunes doesn't open, lost song list

My iTunes doesn't open for some reason, so I downloaded a new iTunes which works, but doesn't have anything showing on it. My music is on an external HD. How do I get the songs to appear on the iTunes again?
many thanks for anyone that knows!

    gta129,
Do you have iTunesHelper set to start up when you login? To check if it's in the list of login items:
    1. Open System Preferences.
    2. Click the Accounts pane.
    3. Select your user.
    4. Click the Login Items tab.
    5. See if iTunes Helper is listed here.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

My itunes doesn't open from the dock... when I get it open by spotlight it froze when I was trying to burn a CD.

    Hi stork38,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It sounds like the application is having an issue burning the CD.
I would suggest you Force Quit iTunes, eject the disc and then open iTunes again.
Then try burning again with a different CD.
