Suddenly logs on without a password keyed in

Suddenly iChat 4.0.5 now signs in without entering my password. I do NOT want it to sign on without actually entering a password.
I go to prefs and see that the password is entered. If I remove it, then quit, re-start, the password is back again. The box to log on as soon as iChat starts is unchecked. I choose my sign-on option and instead of a password dialog box, it just signs in.
I have used Time Machine to replace the four pref files from the previous day when it worked properly. I also replaced iChat from the same day. No Change.
There are no files in user/library/application support only in user/library/preferences.
Is there some file that I have missed replacing?

GO to Applications/Utilities and KeyChain Access and remove the Password from your Screen name that shows there.
You will need to check the Show Password Box first and use the Pop up Dialogue box and you Admin Password to Allow Once to get it to display.
Then remove it in iChat.
Then Quit iChat and check it is not back in the KeyChain.
Now when iChat starts up the Password field should be empty.
Each time it asks you for the password make sure the "Save Password" option is Unchecked.

  • Logging In Without a Password

Is it possible to make it so that you can login to the computer without a password? I have 2 accounts on my machine and want to be able to login by just clicking the picture like in windows and not have to provide my password every time.

This didn't work...I tried it on my computer, but if I log out it takes me to the home screen with all the users. If I want to log in again, I have to enter the password. I don't want to enter the password every time I log in. Ideas??
If your account is a non-admin account, just set the password to blank.
If it is an admin account, Make a second admin account with a password, then change your original account to non-admin, and set the password to blank. You then won't need any password to ever log in to your non-admin account, but will still need to enter the admin password to do any admin task.
DON'T have an admin account without a password. That is a very serious security risk.

  • Face recognition to log in WITHOUT typed password option?

I'm wondering if there's a way to completely disable type-written passwords for accounts in Windows 7.  I want to have everyone who uses the machine log in solely through facial recognition, and not even have the OPTION of ever physically typing a password, like hiding accounts on the login screen or something.  Is this possible?  Thanks!

    Hello.
    >>>'m wondering if there's a way to completely disable type-written passwords for accounts in Windows 7.
I think so but I have not tried it as I am the only user on this Toshiba. Get the others to sit in front of the screen and do the "Face Recognition" skit. Then save the results named after the subject.
Then set up the Face mode to start first, I forget where this is but I defeated mine at one time. It ought to be easy to find.  I defeated mine as the light has to be proper for a face to be recognized, I move around too much and at times, I am in a low-light room and the software does not recognize me.
I can not lead you now as I am not on the Toshiba.  Be good.  Jean.

We have upgraded from obiee 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6. Its a linux machine.
Issue is when any user tries to log in to anlaytics, it allows user to log in without password.

    How is this authentication possible!
What log can I check for this?
And the user is able to access reports...

  • Clicking on user photo does not log in or display password window

I have a 1-week old MacBook Air w Lion OS which was set up at the Apple Store so I could log on without a password. Doing so brought me immediately to my Desktop.  After installing MS Office via download, at the next boot up I got a grey screen with options to log on as me (my photo) or guest.  I was able to log on by using my Apple password but then Keychain started asking for a password for every app.  I was able to blow by those prompts by sometimes entering a password and sometimes just pressing Enter. Tried to change settings back so I would not need password.  Can't remember what I changed but now when I click on my user photo at the logon screen nothing happens.  Tried booting to Recovery and ran Repair Disk Permissions.  No luck. I am new to Apple and don't know what to try next.  Can you help me?

Apple support is wonderful!  The fix took a while but I was able to boot up with Shift key and make changes as directed that restored my auto logon.  Downloading Lion update now which is supposed to fix the Keychain problem.  If anyone else has this problem - here is the Case # for reference -

  • How can I change the iCloud setting to my email address. I can't log out of the previous owners email I'd without his password

I have my sons old iPhone. iCloud is still under his email address. I can't close it and re start without his password. If I put his password in I am worried it will delete all his backup.  Any suggestions?

Not completely clear on what you are trying to do, but I will take a shot.
    1.  If you do not want to continue using your son's account on the old phone, factory reset it and set it up with your Apple ID.  It will be like you have a new phone.
    1.  To prevent a problem with your son's backup, connect the newly-reset phone to the computer and cancel the sync immediately.  Rename the old iPhone immediately and you will not have to worry about messing up your son's backup.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can I access user accounts on Macbook running 10.4 without resetting passwords

Is it possible to access the desktop without resetting passwords?

Not if if you don't have auto log-in turned on.
    Resetting or changing a password:
For Snow Leopard or earlier:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274
If it's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, insert a Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the Option key held down, click on it, and use the Reset Password utility.

  • My tech person on campus wants to know the apple number of the apple tv so he can directly hook the internet into the apple tv without a password. I can't seem to find anything but the serial number on the box or on the tv? Does anyone know where it is?

I bought apple tv thinkng it would save me from my college life of not being able to have cable but it has cost more of a problem Be
ause my campus is so large we have passwords to log into our network. When I called the tech people they siad if i had the apple number they would be able to connect it to the network without a password. I tought this was the source of my problem because i can not connect to the server because it is not loging in to my apple id and password that is my itunes account. I have checked it multiple times and thats not the problem. The other problem is I can not find the apple number the tech was describing to connect it to the network. Does anyone know the answers to my problems? Im a college student in dire need of tv!

    Hi,
I imagine he means "encrypted wireless.
I'm a little confused about what the IT guy wants. If your campus has a wireless network and others with laptops etc can connect to it them you should also be able to with the Apple TV. It seems to me that the campus IT guy needs to give you the name of the wireless network (SSID) and a  password so you can connect.
Then go to Apple TV General/Network/Configure Wi-fi and follow instructions. The IT person should tell you what encryption they use WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc. Probably WPA2. You'll need this infor to connect.
    Then go to
Apple TV General/Network/Configure TCP/IP and you will probably tell it to use DHCP and it should connect you to the campus network.
After that you can sign into the iTunes store etc.
Or am I missing something here?
    Pat.

  • I am suddenly logged out from whatever program or app i am working on and i have to log back in.  one solution suggested is to reset or restore of my IOS software which is quite an involved endeavor.  anyone knows of the cause and simpler solution?

i find that i am suddenly logged out of  program or an app or website, and i am back to the HOME screen.  i have to log back in and sometimes i find back exactly where i left off, some stuff i have entered or written,  or sometimes i have to start all over again and re-enter data or write back what i seem to have lost.
i tried a different browser and it does not solve the problem.  i tried different  apps, website and programs and it happens anywhere and at any app, program or website.
apple staff suggested a complete restore of the IOS software, which is quite an involved process. does anyone know of any possible causes and a simpler
solution without having to reset the entire IOS 7.0.6

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • Login/keychain bug: Login as admin without a password.

I just stumbled upon this bug. I have two user accounts on my iMac (OS 10.6.1) one password protected admin account and one user account without a password. If I go to the login window and click on the user account and immediately follow up with clicking on my admin account, then it will log me in as my admin account without asking for a password. If the admin account is not logged in a box will appear and ask my if I want to update my keychain or continue to login.
I guess this wont be a problem if you just use a password on all your account.

Nope. How was it changed? Your only option, IMHO, is to boot with your install disk and reset it. Once it's reset, login to and change it back.

  • Need to setup Public Wifi without a password AP1142AG

    Good Morning,
I am trying to set up Public wifi on my three AP1142AG WAPs.  They are configured for WDS and VLAN 1 is our corporate network.  VLAN 2 is the public network.  All this works just fine.
What I need to do is make the Public WiFi available without a password.  (Yes, I know that this is not a recommended or even smart idea.  But, the client (a City) is adamant.)
Failing a NO PASSWORD scenario is there a way to make the password short (3 or 4 characters at most).
    Thanks for the help.

Well the term "open" is used to mean unencrypted for almost all folks. However "open" authentication has other meanings in 802.11 talk. But that's a different discussion.
Having an open network isnt really a bad thing, so long as you block the correct content. It is crazy they dont want a AUP so the folks know what they are connected to with terms and conditions. But you cant have a encryted network UNLESS you deploy a PSK key or some other time of advanced security like 802.1X. Which adds to tyhe hassle for guest. Lets face it .. You would have to advertise the PSK key and most folks wouldnt know what to do with it anyway.
Sounds to me .. create a open network. Apply your qos and fw rules.
