I am having this problem as well. In the last week or two, my calendars haven't been syncing properly. Nothing goes updates to my main computer from the phone. Then in the last few days I could only access the internet sporadically, today not at all. No map showing in the gps, safari doesn't work, no weather... It says 'Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding'. The 3G wheel is spinning and shows that there is service.
I reset my phone completely a couple of days ago, reset history/cache, etc in settings, have turned it off and on, etc with no change.

For 6 months, 4 friends of mine could connect to me no problem via port forwarding to play a game. I own a wrt54g that works great.
Last Sunday, this stopped suddenly, no one could connect to me. Why?
The only change is that I downloaded a couple 'updates' that Vista 'recommended'. But this shouldn't chg my firewall or port forwarding settings.

It might be the firewall security on your computer which you updated on your Vista computer.try to turn Off the firewall and check if it helps...

Have lost ability to connect Cisco VPN - Westell 6100G modem and Netgear WNR1000 v2 router

I have lost the ability to connect my work laptop VPN through my verizon dsl connection. It works at the library, at hotels, and over my BB tether. Corporate IT thinks it is either the router or the modem. There are also some websites that will not load, such as tetongravity.com. The websites seem to be a problem over a wired connection as well as wireless, and I have only tried attaching the VPN while on a wirelesss connection.
Any advice on how to straighten this out? I have rebooted both a couple of times and updated the firmward on the router to no avail. Also, do you know what the default user name and password are on the modem?
Any help would be appreciated.

Lost ability to connect to open WiFi router

I've been using Leopard 10.5 that was installed when I bought the computer, and just updated to 10.5.4 which solved a problem I had running the original Adobe CS, InDesign was running 100+ percent of the CPU and crashing. But, I also lost the ability to connect to the open, non-WEP WiFi network in my studio. I have no idea why it won't connect and the computer connects fine at home to my airport. I think the router at my studio is a Linksys or something, but I really need to get my MacBook Pro to connect back to the router. Also, airport seems to be scanning continuously and fails to show the networks quickly. It seems very laggy.
Any suggestions?

If you see line after line of "Airport Beacon (Lost)" messages, the problem is with 10.5.3 upgrade, if you installed 10.5.4 a few days later when it came out, you still have the problem.
That is simply not true. Beacons can be "lost" for a lot of reasons - and it has been happening to some people before 10.5.3 [Check the history!|http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?threadID=&q=airport+10.5.2&ob jID=&dateRange=thisyear&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001]. It might be the 10.5.3 upgrade in some situations. I am a bit suspicious of the interaction between some Netgear routers and OS X, but I have not tested that theory very thoroughly.

Suddenly lost ability to receive some emails

I have suddenly lost the ability to recieve emails from my school. I am in school online and cannot receive forum posts to my email. All was fine and then suddenly they stopped coming in. I usually get 15 or 20 per day as thet are part of a thread. I have contacted my internet provider who thinks this may be a problem on Apple's end. I am receiving emails from others just not my school. I contacted the schools tech support and they say all is fine on their end and with my account. Any thoughts?

No they do not show up there either. I have not made any account changes in mail either. Just to make sure I went into the account and made sure the rules were correct. I have been on the phone all day with tech support form Time Warner Cable and they have been unable to correct the problem.

Suddenly lost ability to play XVID

Hi all-
About a month ago I suddenly lost all ability to play XVID .avi files. Not sure why; as far as I know, nothing changed.
Quicktime says the files are not movie files. VLC just shows a timeline with a playhead moving across it for a few seconds and then stops. FCP6 doesn't recognize them either.
I've tried removing and adding XVID and DivX components and so far nothing works.
The only thing I can think of is that I lost my DSL for several weeks around the same time, so maybe something tried to phone home and couldn't so it turned itself off.
Any thoughts?

Install http://perian.org component and trash the older components if you notice conflicts.

AT&T contract,suddenly lost my LTE connection on my iPhone 5

just have signed up an at&t contract for less than a month, and suddenly my iphone lost LTE connection a few days ago. no matter how many times i reboot or reset the network settings, my iphone just can't connect to the internet. strangely however, some apps (sns apps) are still able to send and receive messages. it really annoys me a lot. anyone here with the similar problem? really need some help. btw i'm in chicago

Suddenly lost ability to Signal External Monitor

Hello,
I've been using a Viewsonic external monitor just fine for about a week, no problems. But after a restart I've lost the external monitor -- it gets recognized in the Displays Preferences, I can detect it, change resolutions etc but nothing gets to the monitor itself. Only reports No Signal.
Weird thing: once (only once) while changing resolutions of the external monitor it flashed alive ! Only for a second, but guessing that tells me my cable must be OK. Also: sometimes when changing the resolution of the external monitor, my MBP monitor would change to that resolution instead. Pretty frightening, seems to me I've got a major software glitch going on. I've reset my PRAM and of course repaired all permissions early in the game.
I'm suspicious of one thing; I ran one of those 'cleaner' applications that erased my caches, logs, and something called a "Binaries Cutter" that was supposed to erase software my Intel MBP shouldn't need. Could that have been what ditched my software ?

Running a MBP on Lion, even though the product line below says Leopard for some reason, can't change it.

Did all that and no luck. The computer sees the network and sees a bluetooth printer, but doesn't see the other two printers that are on the wi-fi network. Reinstalled the drivers, but can't add the printer in the system preferences because it can't see the printer. Happened very suddenly.

Lost ability to connect with Server from workstation

NW 6.5 sp5 on a Dell 2900. I am adding an additonal harddrive to our server
for use as an archive disk in a separate volume. After I loaded it into the
server and created a new VD in the raid bios I booted the computer and found
I couldn't connect from my workstation to connect to IManager. When I
looked on the logger screen I got messages about a possible bad certificate
with suggestions to run sys:/system/tckeygen.ncf or
ndlap or
sys:/tomcat/4/bin/startup-config sys:/adminsrv/conf/admin_tomcat.xml
Nothing helped.
I rebooted the server again and did not get the messages above I looked
through the logger screen and found several messages, I have no idea whether
they are new or common.

I am posting an edited copy of the logger file, there are some error

Lost ability to connect through port forwarding after cisco guest software install

Using Remote Admin 2.2 software to remote into work computer.
E1000 I installed the cisco guest software on my pc and configured the guest about 2 months ago.
Needed to get into office PC this past weekend and connection fails.
Have a static IP address on router. forward a single port to my office machine within the router.
Get nothing but an error on connection. Router is 2.1.02 build 6Jan 15, 2013.
Log file shows nothing on the incoming log? dynamic ip at home...
Another office worker, on the same internal network, has gotomypc running and port forwarding setup on router and he is still working fine, he can access his pc from home. The only change I have made to router was the cisco connect for guest access.
Is it possible this is stopping my remote admin?

Hey kevboac! Make sure that the computer you're using to access the remote computer is connected to the main wireless network and not to the Guest network. Being connected to the Guest network will prevent you from doing File and Printer Sharing, and Remote Access. Hope this helps!

Lost ability to connect to the internet on my desktop after installing Mavericks on my laptop, is there a connection?

I recently installed Mavericks on my laptop. I have an Ethernet cable I connect to my modem to gain access to the internet. I have another Ethernet cable I use on my desktop computer and I connect THAT cable to the modem when I want to gain access on the desktop. Right now, I have access to the internet on my laptop but not on my desktop. The internet service provider checked everything and could not find a problem. They suggested I contact Apple. Is there any connection between my recent upgrade to OS X Maverick on my laptop and my internet connection issue on the desktop? Last thing, the internet service provider suggested that the problem lies in some setting or preference...Thank you in advance!

Unless you router is an Apple Airport, I doubt that updating your laptop would have changed anything, but who knows.
I would recommend trying to hold the reset button on your router for 30 seconds. This may fix the issue, but this will probably erase all of your router's settings like wifi passwords and stuff like that.

If you don't want to risk completely resetting your router, I would suggest trying the following:
– On your laptop (which has a connection)
– Go to System Preferences >> Network >> Advanced >> TCP/IP
– Write down the IP number next to "Router"
– – – Mine looks like this:    192.168.1.125
– Go to your browser (Safari etc.) and go to     http://RouterIP
– – – Where "RouterIP" is the number you wrote down before. Mine looks like this:    http://192.168.1.125
This will take you to your router's settings page.
It will probably ask you for a username and password. They probably are:
User:    admin
password:   admin
or
User: admin
Password:   your router/wifi password
Look all the settings on this site and see if everything is set to reasonable values.

If all else fails, then it's probably something to do with the settings on your desktop PC.

Lost Ability to Connect to WiFi

Hi Everyone:
There have been lots of discussions about not being able to connect or losing connection to WiFi routers with very few solutions. Here is my saga, so far:
Took delivery of an iMac 27 with OSX 10.6.4 in September 2011. Connected it to my home network, 802.11 b/g with WPA. Worked fine for a week then wouldn't connect. Didn't recognize the known network even though that network was in the know networks list and was the only one. Rebooted a couple of times and cycled the router. Started working again.
Another week passes and the same thing happens but this time couldn't get it to recognize the network. Tried lots of things, some suggested by some of these discussions. No luck until I disabled the WPA protection. Now, it connected.
Fast forward to last night. Everything was working fine then I decided to try to protect the network again so I enabled WPA. The iMac wouldn't connect. Removed the WPA and still wouldn't connect. Tried more stuff like deleting the known network from the Airport preferences and rebooting. Nothing. Cleared the PRAM. Nothing. The iMac won't connect.
I have a Macbook Pro, 2009, OSX 10.6.8 that connects to the network with no problems. I have two iPod touches, a 2G and a 4G that connect to the network with no problems. I even have an iMac G3 that has no problems connecting.
Any ideas?

To continue the saga. Haven't been able to connect for awhile. Went to the Apple store tonight and had a genius appointment. From my description of the problem he was inclined to believe nothing is wrong with the iMac. Even though the other devices I own connect and the Macbook Pro runs the same version of the operating system, they have different hardware for the 802.11x and so may react differently to the router. I was going to take it to work tomorrow but when I fired it up tonight and turned Airport on, guess what, it connected.
Earlier in the evening, I had to recycle the router for some unknown reason and its stability during the power on/off cycle is questionable. It sometimes has to be shut off twice to restart, so I am now thinking that our modem/router is a prime suspect. This thinking is in direct opposition to what I have posted earlier.
The intermittent nature of the problem bugs me though. We'll see.

I have a 13 inch Macbook. Why have I suddenly lost my internet connection?

spoke with my ISP tech support. My router was o.k.-for the most part, and my modem was fine. He had me bypass the router and connect the Ethernet cable directly to my mac. My Internet connection returned-and then was gone again.
I checked my Internet,cable as suggested, but didn't see any obvious problems; it wasn't loose or damaged. The error messages I get are" Safari can't connect to the Internet", and "The Ethernet cable is unplugged". Then there is something about checking what is on the other end of the device.. I'm sorry, I cant remember the rest of the message.
I have done everything I can. I have rebooted the modem and the router, unplugged everything-all the standard stuff, to no avail..
The cable people are coming next week, but I would rather fix it myself!

Depends on what input plug you'll be using on your TV. VGA, DVI, Composite or HDMI. You'll need a Mini-DVI adapter and a cable from that to your TV. If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.

Suddenly lost ability to send mail from iPhone

Hi,
I've had my iPhone ever since the price drop to $400, and from day one I had my email working, both incoming and outgoing. Suddenly, two days ago, I can't send outgoing mail. I have turned the phone off and on, I have re-entered my outgoing server info (authsmtp.netzero.com) and I have tried to change my outgoing server to a different account (smtp.comcast.net) and tried specifying the port number thing (smtp.comcast.net:465) as per http://www.comcast.com/customers/faq/FaqDetails.ashx?Id=4475
I also made an attempt to change outgoing mail to the ATT server (cwmx.com) as per http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1382616&tstart=0
So far, nothing has worked, when everything was working just fine a couple days ago. It's really very frustrating. Is anybody having similar trouble? Is my phone defective? There seems to be nothing wrong with the settings as I type them in, and there is no evidence to believe that three different smtp servers are all dead at the same time.

In the absence of ideas after 50 views or so, I realized there was a reset-type strategy I hadn't tried: deleting the email account info from the phone in its entirety, and adding a new account that was in fact the identical information. Guess what: it worked. I can now both send and receive email. I guess some account info files or databases must have been corrupted in some way invisible to the interface. I didn't lose anything but 2 minutes of time because I don't save emails on the phone.
Problem solved.
