Suddenly my history is displaying in a column along the left panel of my browser. I can't make it disappear. How do I get rid of it?

It's a blue column that has a search box and Today and Yesterday on it. It stretches all the way down my screen. There's no visible X to get rid of it. Suggestions?

I can't actually see what you have installed other than what the forum software reveals via the link called "System Details" (top right of this forum). However, it doesn't update, so if you removed it, then I can't see that.
Anyway, it sounds like the problem has been resolved.
Could you click the "''Solved It''" button to take your post out of the loop?

How do I have a constant display of my bookmarks along the left side of the page as was possible in past editions of Firefox/

I previous versions you could have all of your bookmarks displayed down the left side of the page (I cannot recall the technical term for this). With this version when I open bookmarks I get something called the library which looks like what I want but it's in it's own window which is not the way that it was in previous versions. How do I set up Firefox so that my page had my bookmarks always displayed. I do not like the toolbar option.

Suddenly a "Bing" tab has appeared. I am running 8.0. There is not reference anywhere to Bing. How do I get rid of this?

I have reviewed entries about Bing but cannot find one the fits. There is no reference to Bing in "Add/Remove Programs".

I have a sidebar with the bookmarks and then the Tree-Style Tabs add-on as a sidebar. The right hand side of the screen was previously dedicated to the active site. Now suddenly it has been split into 2 horizontal sections - the upper part with the web-site and the lower part with a pane containing error messages and warnings. How do I get rid of this error pane, which is a real pain.

That is the classic error console and not the Browser Console that current Firefox releases have as part of the developer tools.

If it happens again the make sure that you aren't suppressing website colors.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

How can I display my bookmarks in a persistent column on the left of the display?

I like to have a permanent display of bookmarks i a column on the left of the display. Having restarted FF, this is no longer shown.
I see a View option to display the bookmarks toolbar - but I don't want a toolbar - I want to go back to having the list always shown on the left.

In WIndows 8, Google search results for Firefox (only) appear in a narrow column on the left of the window.

Firefox (25.0.1) and Google worked well together until 11/26/2013 when a guest user searched on Google. Google search still works well on IE and Chrome. The problem is only on Firefox and only with Google. Bing, Ask, Yahoo, Wikipedia all perform and display as expected. No recent installs or upgrades. No other search engine returns results in a narrow column on the left. It is as if the guest user dragged the results to the left column and that display became the default. I can not restore the prior display. I have restarted Windows. I have reinstalled Firefox, but that has not fixed the problem. I have disabled all add-ons (I do not have any) and run in safe mode, The problem still exists. Appearance is Default 25.0.1

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac). 
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right. 
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

A Characteristci appears twice under the Rows Column on the left hand side.

According to the requirement , there are 2 Material Numbers ,1 of them is used for Compounding,which is not required in the Report,but as it is used for Compounding ,we need to place that in the rows.
We have put tat in "NO DISPLAY" mode,but Material Number appears twice under the Rows column, on the left hand side of the screen, in the Portal when we execute the Report.How Can we have to display only 1 Material Number on the left hand side of the screen?

the left hand side of the screen is reakky vague....you should be more specific...
Probably you need to filter out the compounding characteristics in the global filter area.

Why are some websites squished to one column on the left?

All of a sudden some websites are all squished in one column on the left side of the iPad and are unreadable or unusable. This hasn't always been the case. I'm using safari. I've rebooted the iPad, I have the latest os system. Two examples are:

Www.vassarbushmills.com
I have my own website and it's been fine.
Www.conservative-outlooks.com
And the larger websites are fine as well. I'm really stymied.

Bad web design, or a proplem with the linked CSS files, would be my guess. Report it to the webmasters for those sites.
At least on one of them, you can pinch out to properly see the site.

Itunes 10.6.1.7 I have 2 sets of playlists the first set displays greyed out lists and does not work The second set is fine. How do I get rid of the non working set of playlists?

I think the greyed out playlists must be listed from your device which is set up to mirror your library. Because the device is synced you can't edit content directly on the device. From the top of the left-hand column do you have?
Library > Music, Movies...
Store > iTunes Store, iTunes Match...
Devices > <Your Device> > Music, Movies, and all the other "dummy" lists...
Genius > Genius, Genius Mixes...
Playlists > iTunes DJ, and then all your playlist folders and playlists...
If so then that is perfectly normal when your device is connected, either directly or over wi-fi and you have the lists expanded. Simply click the small triangle to the left of the device name to hide all the playlists.
