Suddenly no audio through airplay.

My ATV is plugged in to an HDMI enabled computerscreen and audio to an airport express. This has worked just fine up until now. I suddenly have no audio.
It's not the airport, I checked. Streaming from the MBP to the airport works just fine. Plays nice. It's only the ATV that isn't coming through.
Any ideas?

AppleTV 3rd - Update 5.2 (6025): No Audio through Airplay

Hi folks,
An acquainted of mine just updated his ATV to 5.2 (6025) and after that, no audio will play through Airplay.
ATV 3rd.
Samsung TV/ Display.
Performed troubleshooting:
1 - Restart/ Restore of ATV Software;
2 - Disabled Dolby Audio from ATV Settings;
3 - Put ATV to sleep, so it would be like a "SMC in a Mac"';
4 - Tried to research for downgrade links, which later on I discarded as a possibility (because I tested on a lab the Airplay with the same software 5.2 (6025) and it worked just fine. The only difference was the Display brand (LG in this case).
5 - At this point, the only thing I can think about is: HDMI is working for video (mirroring works properly with Macbook). I thought the HDMI might not be carrying audio signals.
Any clues or workarounds?
At the meantime I will suggest him a new HDMI cable.

Honestly, this is a WAG but try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

Why won't imovie stream my audio through airplay?

I'm using iMovie 10.0.1 on a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. I made a small movie with four or five songs as audio. When I use AirPlay to stream to the tv, the movie shows fine, but the audio is only coming from the MacBook speakers. Anyone know what's up?

Well, here's some good news!
Looks like a feature of Mountain lion that didn't make the front page solves my problem. To get movie audio over Airplay, on OSX 10.8 go to Audio and MIDI Setup app, make sure you have the Audio Setup window open (Window - Show Audio Window) and if your Airport or other Airplay device is online it should appear in the list of audio IO devices on the left hand side.
Right click on the Airplay icon and select "Use this Device For Sound Output" and away you go. iTunes (10.7 at least) seems to be smart enough to realise that it is playing audio to a streaming device and buffers the video accordingly. Viola! Glorious hifi sound sans wires.

Any app audio through Airplay no longer works on ipad2 after 5.1.1 update. Working Airplay on my iphone.

I have a working Airplay connection to my Pioneer VSX-1021 Receiver. My iPhone 3GS and iTunes on my PC connect and send audio with no issues.
On the ipad2 through the music app for instance, I am able to select the Receiver as an Airplay destination but the blue Airplay icon soon goes white and it defaults back to iPad. The scrub bar and time counter never advance. Similar results with Garage Band. Settings on ipad and iphone are the same.
I have noticed this since upgrading to 5.1.1 but it could have been this way prior to the upgrade.
Any ideas?

How do I play TV audio through AirPlay?

I have several Airport Expresses and want to the TV audio to be heard throughout my house. Specifically for sporting events when I would like the audio in the kitchen and outside to be synced with the TV in the living room.

I assume that you mean that you want to stream the audio output from your TV to an AirPlay speaker (AirPort Express Base Station) ... correct?
If so, unfortunately, that is not possible. AirPlay requries an iTunes source for audio. Unless the TV source is on your computer or iOS device, you will not be able to use AirPlay to stream it.

Amazon Prime reply app does not allow video airplay - nor do several other content providers.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

It's fairly common for headphones after extensive use (5+ years). If you have another set of headphones (any type with same connector), try it with the iPod to determine if the fault is on the headphones or on the iPod. Or you can try the same headphones with another device, to see if they are working fine or you get the same audio problem.

How can I get iTunes 11 to play a video's audio over airplay on my Denon?

It still shows AppleTV, but on the previous iTunes version it would play a video's audio on the Denon through Airplay.

If the Denon shows in airplay mirroring you can just turn on mirroring and get the sound. Otherwise try System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and choose the Denon there. Any system sound will play through the airplay device. I don't know why apple doesn't just give an airplay option from the menu bar sound icon to make this easier.... seems like they are pushing people to mirror

Sorry, but no. The Xbox 360 is not an AirPlay "server" so it cannot stream to an AirPlay "speaker." In this case the speaker is the AirPort Express.

iOS devices do not pair with computers, as data transfer over bluetooth is not supported.
Computers are not airplay compatible unless you have downloaded an app to make them so.
User to user forum, so I don't care if you switch to android or any other threats you make.

The sound from certain TV shows I bought on my iPad will not play through AirPlay on Apple TV.

I recently bought a couple of tv shows on my ipad. When I play them through airplay on my apple tv, only some play the audio while others do not at all. For example, Downtown Abbey plays perfectly (sound and video) while Homeland does not (only video). I am using an original ipad, and a new apple tv. Any ideas? I updated the software on the appletv and still nothing!

I've been having this problem since the new Apple Tv update. I wish Apple would address the issue but I've found out the new update changed my audio settings within the AppleTV. Go to settings>>Audio & Video>> then scroll down to the Dolby Digital setting and if it says ON (on,Auto,off) then switch it to Auto.. and presto you have audio again.. Found this out myself when I was about to rewatch the League season 1.. For some reason I orginaly had it set to auto but the new update changed it to On. Really getting sick and tired of Apple lately.

No Audio Through Speakers or Headphones

Obviously I'm not the only one having this problem but I'm hoping someone can help me. My computer went through a standard update, nothing out of the ordinary and all of a sudden my audio doesn't work. I restart my computer and it works for a couple of minutes and then it stops. Ten minutes later it works again and then cuts off and so on, so forth.

I grasp that after you installed an update you lost the audio. If you restart it comes back for few moments and then you loose it again. Approximately 10 minutes later it works again but again cuts out. It continues in this manner.
Here is a link to No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8) to assist you.
If you boot into safe mode do you have this issue? If not then there is a conflict somewhere. Using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 8). Instead of selecting 1 item at a time, I suggest you try 50/50 to speed up the process and locate the issue more quickly.
If this has not resolved it you can do a restore back to before you installed the update. Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
You could also try a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
If the issue remains, I suggest you do a recovery back to factory. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8).
During this process you will receive a prompt to backup your personal files, if you have not done one yet, I suggest you do one now to prevent data loss.
Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)
You may also consider contacting HP support for assistance. They have the ability to remotely access your system, to help locate and resolve issues.

Audio through Headphones horrible

I was listening to my phone this afternoon when suddenly the audio coming out of my headphones turn absolutely horrible. I know its not the headphones as I tried it with 2 different sets that fit the phone, plus two other through an adapter (due to the recessed plug). It sounds like a whole range of frequencies just dropped about as you can hear tiny music and barely any vocals. For audiobook i need to turn the volumn up all the way to even tell anyone is speaking. The external speaker works fine. Anyone else ever have this problem. I'm hoping it a software thing and not a hardware problem. Thank you.

You can try a Restore in iTunes. If that doesn't correct this issue, take your iPhone in to an Apple Store or call AppleCare.
