Suddenly no computer will recognise my ipod ????

All of a sudden no computer, PC or Mac, will recognise my ipod
it will charge it but I cannot access it in anyway.
Untill a few days ago it worked fine, I don't know if this is caused by the new version 1.2 or if it is caused by something else....
but any information would be great!
Thanks

I just updated my 80GB iPod video to the new version an immediately mt MBP would not recognize my ipod.
I think it is fair to say we have a BUG. We nee help!

  • ITunes and the Finder won't recognise iOS devices but iPhoto will and will recognise my iPod classic

    Good day good people,
I seem to be having a problem syncing my iOS devices to iTunes. The Finder and iTunes won't recognise any of my iOS devices (iPads - 1, 2or Mini and iPhone 4s). iPhoto will however. Finder and iTunes will recognise my iPod Classic.
    I've tried this:
         http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
and I tried doing a SCM reset and a PRAM reset (I couldn't get this one to work though) as recommended on another thread which I can't seem to find again.
Note people seem to have had a similar problem with older versions of OSX - I have the latest. They reommend reinstaliling iTunes but I can't do this with more recent versions it seems.
I am confident it is something corrupt with my MacPro as I also have a MacBook Air and it recognises all the iOS devices.
One last thing  - and I'm not sure this is related - but iTunes on my MacPro doesn't seem to be syncing purchases from the iTunes store with my other devices (notably my AppleTV 2).
I have been banging my head against this one for a while - any help would be greatly approeciated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • I updated Itunes and now my computer doesnt recognise my IPOD

    Happy Christmas!

If you get a message that says Ipod_control is corrupt you should put you Ipod into Disk mode by 1st holding pressing the MENU AND SELECT buttons at the same time util the apple logo appears. Then press the SELECT button and PLAY/Pause buttons at the same time until it goes into disk mode. Once that happens connect it to your computer and you will see your Ipod as an external drive. Right click on the IPOD drive Icon and select properties, then slect tools, then select error checking, then select fix file system errors, then slect OK. Once the system files are fixed, this will take a while, your Ipod will be recognized by Itunes like it use too. I know this is a pain, but its the only thing I could figure out and it worked. Good luck!

  • Ipod - 60GB - My computer wont recognise my ipod anymore :o(

I am seriously running out of ideas and patience.
My computer wont recognise that my ipod is connected, yet the ipod just registers that it's re-charging.
I have the latest ipod update and the latest itunes.
so, now i can't update/install anymore songs on my ipod.
It can't be the USB cable, 'cos it recharges.
It can't be Itunes or ipod updater 'cos they are up to date.
been thru all the advice on this topic on this website, including using msconfig to see if there are any conflicts.
If there is anyone with the solution, i would be most grateful to hear it :o)
    Thanks in advance.

disk management doesn't recognise the ipod either!
gaah. okay, let's first try putting the ipod into disk mode to see if it will show up in there then:
    Putting iPod into Disk Mode
... and while you're in that general Computer Management area, let's also check up on another weird possibility. click on "Device Manager". are there devices shown in the pane to the right? or is that pane blank?

  • TRIED EVERYTHING!!! computer will not recognize IPOD and no charging

Tried changing cords; tried reinstalling all software; tried to determine if conflicting software; ran ipod out of power and my computer still will not recognize when I plug it in. Backlight initially lights up but ipod does not show up in device manager, itunes does not recognize it and ipod will not charge---ipod will charge on Bose speaker platform though....ANY SUGGESTIONS??????

If none of the above help, then it may be an issue that requires service so why not take advantage of the warranty?
You can arrange online service here.

Or if an Apple store is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod.

I've been working on our church website and all of a sudden this week, my computer will not connect to the site. I keep getting a message saying that the the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

The "The connection was reset" error message can be caused by a bug fix for the BEAST (Browser Exploit Against SSL/TLS) attack that the server doesn't handle.

  • How do i get a different computer to recognise my ipod that is not the one i originally set it up with

I am trying to connect ipod to a new computer & computer doesnt recognise it - what do I do?

    Try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or

  • Itunes and Apple computer will not recognize ipod nano. What do I do?

I have an ipod nano that I bought last year. It has worked fine. Over the last couple weeks, although charging, my computer will not show it in itunes nor recognize it in the finder. I tried placing my usb cord with my Nano on my girlfriends computer and it showed up there but will still not show up on mine. Any answers?

Hmm.. I just checked again trying to put my Nano onto my girlfriends G5. It actually doesn't always show up. At first it didn't and then as I fiddled around with the setting (not changing anything generally) it came on. Hmm.... And then before I could look at it in itunes it went off. Said "Device Removal blah blah blah". Hmm... Then I couldn't get it on again. itunes actually wasn't responding and the ball kept spinning. Then I restarted itunes but it wouldn't come on. I tried the finder but that began to spin too and didn't stop. Even iCal wouldn't come on. So I restarted the computer.

  • IPOD Touch only shows apple logo and computer will not recognize IPOD in iTunes or on my Mac.  Cannot restore.

My IPOD Touch 3G is frozen on the apple logo.  It will allow me to reset it.  The computer no longer will recognize it.  I have tried on several Macs and it seems as though the problem is with the IPOD and not the computer since none of my MACs will recognize it.

You can try to put it on Recovery mode then restore it..
Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
Screen goes black, now release the power button
Make sure you do not release the Home key until
your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch
    in recovery mode."
After this its simple all you
got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes

  • Neither iTunes nor my computer will recognize my iPod

My iPod has a white screen and will not turn off until the battery dies.
I suspect it needs reformatting but, when I connect it to my computer, Windows recognizes only the USB Mass Storage Device aspect of the iPod and nothing else...So, it doesn't show up in iTunes for reformatting.
I haven't seen anything like this before and I can't find any similar discussions. Please help! (I have already completed the first four "r"'s so, please don't suggest them!)

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.

  • No Computer Will Reconise My Ipod Touch 2nd Gen. And Itunes Wont Download On My computer..

ok so since about 2 weeks ago i have not be able to use my ipod touch. my cord broke and it died. took about 5 days for my cord to come in the mail.but when i got it my ipod wouldnt charge, or sync to my computer. i spent all day searching the web for answers. i uninstalled itunes 3 times, yes i checked apple mobile, spoted it started it restarted it. shut down my computer lots of times, used different usb ports and nothing. all i get is "This Usb Has Malfuctioned" i tried installing the drivers, but i got code 10 from windows and they wouldnt install. ive tried two other computers but i didnt have access to the adminastor account so i couldnt mess with any drivers. i force resotred it but when i plug it in nothing happens. and now i cant download itunes. everytime i try it freezes my computer and shuts down. so with no itunes i have no drivers and with no drivers i have no ipod. so does anyone know how to fix this or has had this problem before, because i have tried everything.

Did you try to remove all Apple related software and reinstall iTunes after that? This should give you all the needed drivers back. Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista and 7

  • HT201269 how come all of a sudden my computer will no longer recognize my iPhone?

my phone was working fine, and one day i pluged it into my computer USB as i always do, to check updates, sync, and load pictures on my computer. well a  couple weeks ago, i did this as i did every day prior, and bang it doesnt work. went out and got a new USB charger cable thinking maybe i had damaged wires or somthing, but even then it still didnt work. when i took it to the apple store, they had no issues getting my phone to be recognized. I was also a bit  upset and disappointed that the person who set up the appt for me to go to the apple store (an hour drive). please if you have had hea

Could be a problem with the USB port on your computer. Try a different port.
Also reboot the computer and reset the iPhone. To reset the iPhone press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

    Step 1
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone via USB.
    Step 2
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
    Step 3
Continue holding the both buttons until your iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone/iPod in recovery mode.
