Suddenly No Images in Bridge

I am running CS3 with Bridge. When I open Bridge no images show in the preview area. It shows how many images we have in the file, but the image area is totally blank. It was working fine until today. Help!
Update: Now Bridge won't open at all...It says a problem caused the program to stop working. Awindows will close problem and notify you if a solution is found.
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, HP computer mt8120N, Nvidia graphics card, 3 gb RAM. As I stated above...Bridge ran fine, glitch free, until today.

Hi Marge and others,
I'm new to this forum and desperately trying to find a solution to my problem with Bridge. I'm having the same problem Marge had and wondering whether a solution was found.
I'm using CS3, Bridge 2.1.1.9, Windows XP, Nvidia graphics card. Everything working fine until today BUT...
Now image thumbnails are not displaying in the 'content' panel or 'preview' panel. It's just completely blank. But the images ARE there - the bottom bar tells me how many files are in the folder, the size of the scroll bar in the content panel also roughly indicates how many files are in each of my many folders, and (like Marge) I can sometimes right-click on a completely blank area of the content panel and open an image in Photoshop and it opens fine. I say 'sometimes' because sometimes when I do that, I also just get the familiar 'Send error report' message.
On top of all that, there are a handful of folders for which the thumbnails are displaying perfectly (both raw and jpeg image folders). Aaaaarrrgh. So frustrating!
I've tried rebooting and I've set preferences to 'Use Software Rendering'.
Any suggestions to help solve this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Images in Bridge have suddenly become much brighter then when I call them into Photoshop CS6. My monitor is calbrated.

First go the Bridge / Camera Raw preferences.
Inhere under 'default image settings' are 4 options to put a checkmark in front.
If there is a checkmark in front of "apply auto tone adjustments' deselect it and try again.
Otherwise select one problem file and with right mouse click menu choose 'purge cache for selection'. If this works then go to menu tools / cache/ purge cache for folder.
If still in trouble could you provide more details about versions and OS and preferable a screenshot to clarify the problem more?

  • Change preferences for double click on images in Bridge

    Hiya,
I feel a bit silly for asking this because it seems so obvious, but the onvious way just doesn't seem to work for me.
When double-clicking on an image in Bridge, it opens Photoshop - which I suppose in some cases helps, but drives me crazy because it slows the system down so much. I want it to open Camera Raw 6 or just have a bigger preview of the photo.
I tried Edit/Preferences: Under General I ticked the option that double clicks edits camera raw settings
and under file associations I tried to associate jpg files with something other than photoshop but Camera Raw 6.0 is not offered to me there and I can't find the path that leads to it. What is the path? Or is there a different way?
    Thanks so much!!
(Oh and another question, when when you filter for two keywords, you get all files that have either one or the other, how can I make them only show the ones that have both???)

Don't think you could get a jpeg to open in camera raw with a double click as that is not the normal route, like it is with a raw image.  If you right click on the image you have the option to open in camera raw.
If you do a search with 2 keywords it you only want images that have both you have to click if all criteria met in the match drop down box.

  • How does one set the DPI when resizing images in Bridge?

I am sure I am missing something here (so excuse me if its a simple answer) but I am used to using Photo Mechanic and there you are able to set lots of variables while resizing.  I don't understand this Bridge resizing window when using Batch Processing thru Photoshop.
-There are two boxes for sizing.  If you put the same dimension in both does it just set the longest dimension to that size?
-What if I want say a 10x10 inch image at 72 DPI for web use as opposed to a 10 x10 inch image at 300 DPI for printing purposes, where does one enter that info?
    Thanks,
    Joshua

You don't "resize" anything in Bridge, nor does it set PPI, pixels per inch—and most certainly NOT "DPI" (Dots [of ink] Per Inch) which is exclusively a feature of the printer.
Bridge is just a File Browser.  It used to be called simply the Photoshop File Browser".  It doesn't open, edit, manipulate resize or even save anything.
It merely hands the file(s) over to the appropriate application, whether that be Photoshop, adobe Camera Raw, Illustrator, InDesign or even MS Word.

Again, you mean PPI in both instances there.
You enter that in whatever application you're sending the image from Bridge.
    For instance in Photoshop:

  • Soft images in Bridge/ PS CS4

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here who uses PS CS4 & Bridge can help me with an issue that has been bugging me for a while. I am at the point where I am considering selling my gear and reinvesting in something else, both in terms of software and hardware.
I shoot with a Sony A700 and a number of lenses (nifty fifty, sigma 24-70 DG HSM, Tamron 90mm 2.8) and have noticed that no matter what I shoot the images look a lot bright, softer and fuzzy when i get them onto the PC (even considering that the pc screen is so much bigger than the a700's screen).
I have noticed that when I view the images in Bridge, there is a short period of time before bridge has loaded all the images that the image thumbnails themselves appear nice and sharp (as i see them on the cameras screen), then a split second later they are changed so that they all look brighter and a lot softer. If I "purge cache for selection" then the thumbnail appears nice and sharp again. Then when I open the image - which takes me to ACR in photoshop the nasty processing is reapplied.
Is bridge applying some kind of processing or profile to all the images before i even get round to processing them myself? It is ruining my pictures and I am at my wits end with it.When the images are opened in ACR the brightness has been ramped up (although i cant remember the exact settings that are listed as i am at work and my pc is at home), and changing the settings to "As shot" makes no difference at all.
What am I missing? What settings are being applied by the software (this also happens when i load the images straight from CS4 and cut out Bridge altogether) that makes the images look so much worse than they should? I'm fed up with the images loading all soft and a fair bit brighter than they should be. Trying to manually get the images back to where they should be in terms of clarity and brightness/ contrast has so far proved to be impossible, for me at least. And besides, I shouldnt need to be doing this in the first place!
I should also note that I am obviously talking about RAW images and not JPEGS!
Look forward to any suggestions as to what is going on??!

What you are seeing here is the processing, or lack of processing, of the Raw image.  Raw is just that it is unprocessed.  The image you see on the camera and for a brief instant in Bridge is the jpeg image (embedded thumbnail) the camera generates.
The is a lot of stuff in ACR that could affect this, and I am no expert.  I recommend you copy and post this question in the camera raw forum.  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw?view=discussions
When you get a concise answer that gets you sharp images please post it here so others that come across this thread can benefit.
Message was edited by: Curt Y  Shooting Raw is not for everybody as it does take more effort to process than a jpeg.  Just depends on the subject matter, what you want to do with final picture,  and how much you like to tinker with the image.  If you find you like the pictures as shot, then use Raw only for tricky exposure shots that might require more manipulation to get a good image.

After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • How to view the Nikon D4 RAW images in Bridge CS3

I am in the process of buying the lattest Nikon camera the D4. However, I am still using CS3. I am wondering if I am still going to be able to view and process the RAW images in Bridge? Will I need a plug in? If so, where can I download?

I am wondering if I am still going to be able to view and process the RAW images in Bridge?
    No, according to this overview:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
the earliest support for Nikon D4 is ACR 6.7, the latest and last update of the Camera raw plug in that came with PSCS5
Will I need a plug in? If so, where can I download?
You can use the DNG route, meaning downloading the free DNG converter from Adobe and those DNG files will be viewable in CS3 and you can work with them.
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=Macintosh&product=106
While it is none of my business I just wonder why you buy a 5K $ state of the art top dSLR from 2012 and still use an 'old' piece of software released in 2007 to try and get the most out of it.
And sadly enough CS3 Bridge is known to be the worst version ever, you sure will benefit from at least CS5 but CS6 offers the new 2012 Process in ACR.

  • Placing images from Bridge CC breaks Indesign Doc

This seems to be intermittent but it's occuring only when I place images from Bridge to an InDesign document.
I've experienced this bug before with InDesign but now it seems to happen more often when I drag an image from Bridge to an InDesign doc.
After doing this I'm unable to Save the document or undo/redo anything. I know others have experienced this same bug. The only way I was able to fix the document was to close InDesign (and lose any unsaved changes) and then reopen the document. Then I create a new document and move all of the pages of my document to the new doc and resave it. This seems to stop the problem from happening.
This is a serious bug: a) It's hard to pin down what causes it but it seems to be permission related to the document b) there is NO way to recover your unsaved changes, you can't copy your objects to a new document and save it as once the program breaks you can't save ANYTHING.
Has anyone had success permanantly fixing this? Or run into it at all?

    Windows or MacOS?
Because in Windows you can circumvent this by using the Explorer. I used to drag 'n drop images (ID CS6) and other files all the time - nothing like your problem so far.

  • CS3 Extended - Can't get images from Bridge to open in Photoshop

I am wondering if I have this CS3 installed incorrectly.  I had CS2 before and after my hard drive failed I ordered CS3.  Before the new CS3 arrived I downloaded Picasa from Google and that was my image viewer in the interim. I also installed a trial CS2 on my computer from finding it on the internet.  When I downloaded CS3, my RAW images were opening up in Picasa which I didn't like.  So, I went to Picasa's software and clicked no to opening RAW images in it.  That fixed that problem and I also uninstalled the CS2 trial.  But now my CS3 Adobe Bridge doesn't recognize that there is CS3 Adobe Photoshop when I want to open TIFF or JPEG images.  It opens them in Windows viewer.  Even when I right click on an image in Bridge to Open with, it only offers me two browsers, Firefox and IE.  Where do I go to reset the Bridge images to open in Photoshop?  Right now I have to switch back to Photoshop from Bridge and go to File-Open.

In Bridge, go to Edit->Preferences->File Type Associations

  • Bridge Raw not working, cannot see Raw image in Bridge

The RAW setting in Bridge is not working. When I open Bridge I can see only icons, no images. The RAW tool icon is grey, not active. I am going on a trip Tomorrow and I need Bridge to be working. It was working earlier.

My Photoshop and bridge is CS4, purchased in 2008, and the canon 5D Mark
11, purchased earlier. I have CR2. The camera and software worked
together fine for all those years.
Now, however, when I click Bridge to open a file containing several
images, I do not get thumbnail images, just a circle with CR 2 and the
    file name, no image.
If I double click one of the circles, the image will open in camera Raw,
and I can edit, and open photoshop and edit again. If I then save a Jpeg
version, I will be able to open it and see the image in Bridge.
The problem is that now if I shoot 100 pictures, I can open Bridge but
there are no thumbnail images, only CR2 and file name.
I hope this can clarify the problem. Camera and software have not been
    changed.
Thank you very much. Please help.

You can't do so in Bridge, only option for a watermark inhere is via the Output Module on a PDF contact sheet.
Best try this question in the Photoshop forum, they might have better answers because you need to create an action in PS to get what you want.
