Suddenly no links in Navigation menu

I am building an iWeb site with several pages. They showed perfectly every link to the other pages in the naviagtion menu.
Out of the blue, when I opened iWeb today, all links in the navigation menus are gone: only an empty box is left unterneath every pages title. What's wrong?

Same problem with .mac server! Only after upgrade to iWeb 2.0.2
Black dot appears on left of screen where the navigation menu should be. (Navigation Menu is checked) Also the Photo Albums and Photo pages do not display any albums or photos. I am viewing the .mac site on a mac with Safari and Firefox.
When exported to a local file or a 3rd part server the site works as expected but no luck on .mac.
Using iWeb 2.0.2, with darkroom theme.
No success with iWeb 08 and .mac. Anyone found a fix or work around yet?

  • "email me" link in navigation menu

    Hi--I'm a new user to iWeb. Is it possible to put an "email me" button or "contact me" link in the navigation menu instead of having it on a page?

  • Tip: How to link to a non-iWeb page in the main navigation menu.

    I've figured out an easy way to add a link to the main navigation menu which links to a URL of your choosing. For example, I have an older .Mac site using the now archaic HomePage. Instead of rebuilding all of my old pages in iWeb, I thought it would be nice to add a link to the old site from the top main navigation of the iWeb pages. Sounds easy, right? Apparently Apple has other ideas as iWeb doesn't allow you to do this.
    Here's a work-a-round:
    Step 1.) Open iWeb and add a new page to your iWeb site. Pick any template, it doesn't matter which one.
    Step 2.) Change the page name to whatever you want using the page inspector. Whatever you choose as a name here will be reflected in the main navigation menu. For example, I named my page "Photo Archives".
    Step 3.) You don't need to edit this new page at all. In fact, we're going to erase all of the content in it later. Now publish your site.
    Step 4.) If you're using .Mac, mount your iDisk to your desktop. Then navigate through the folders to: Web -> Sites -> iWeb -> <Your Site Name>. If you're hosting your site somewhere else, navigate to your root directory.
    Step 5.) You should now be looking at all of the files which make up your iWeb site. Open the dummy page we created in Step 2 in a text editor. I used BBEdit, but TextEdit (see note below) will work just fine. For example, my dummy page is named "Photo Archives.html".
    Note: If you're going to use TextEdit, you need to select the checkbox "Ignore rich-text commands in HTML files" from the Open & Save pane of the Preferences dialog PRIOR to opening the file from your iDisk.
    Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and Delete.
    Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></title><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.html" /></head><body></body></html>
    Step 8.) Save the file. You're done! You now have a link in the main navigation which goes to any URL you want.

    Hi,
    I'm OK to step seven but in your example can you highlight or make bold the "url address part " I'm to replace with my own?
    Thanks!
    Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and
    Delete.
    Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the
    URL you want to link to.

  • How can I add a link to an external page to the iWeb created navigation menu?

    I want to add a link to a Wordpress blog to my iWeb created navigation menu.  Dream Host is hosting my site.

    Here's a JavaScript that inserts a link in the navbar
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
              theNavUL = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
              // insert a LI before the current list of li's
              TheLi = parent.document.createElement("li")
              TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='http://www.wyodor.net' title='Wyodor&#39;s Homepage'>Home</a>";
              TheLi.classname = "noncurrent-page";
              theNavUL.insertBefore(TheLi, theNavUL.getElementsByTagName("li")[0]);
              // append a LI to the current UL list
              TheLi = parent.document.createElement("li")
              TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='http://www.wyodor.net' title='Wyodor&#39;s Homepage'>Home</a>";
              TheLi.classname = "noncurrent-page";
              theNavUL.appendChild(TheLi);
    // -->
    </script>
    Paste the code in a HTML Snippet.
    Edit:
    See it in action (the More and Home links are added this way) :

  • How to add links to left menu navigation

    I go to Site Settings > Look and Feel > Navigation and add the links to "Structural Navigation: Editing and Sorting" (which is blank even though my left menu navigation has 8-10 links). I added some some links but these never display.
    I am able to modify the navigation menu just fine on project subsites, just not the PWA

    Will assume you are using PS2013. This is by design. The left navigation (Quick Launch) for PWA home page is controlled by a different setting. You can add your link by navigating to
    Server Settings >> Quick Launch

  • Page won't open that's linked but not in the navigation menu

    On my photos page I have set links from each of the photos to another page.
    As long as I keep the page in my navigation menu it opens.
    But when I uncheck that option, clicking on the photo opens up a pop up with an original size version of the same photo.
    I don't want the page to appear in the navigation menu as it is a submenu of the photo page.
    Is there any way for me to get the page to load without having it in the navigation menu?
    Is the photo pop up a function of the photos page, and therefore I have to use another page template so this doesnt happen?

    How did you make the links on the photo template page?
    I'm wondering if this write up might help you...
    http://www.mac.com/web/en/Blog/013C4180-4787-4847-BAAB-319222AFC652.html
    Also, it might help if you could post your URL so that we can take a look.

  • Navigation menu links not working

    I just published a site with iWeb and the navigation menu links are not working. They appear to be active when I mouseover them in iWeb, but but neither the mouseover effects nor the links themselves are working on the published site in Safari.

    Finally solved the problem.
    The title of the webpage had a clickable link right above the navigation bar. Once I removed that the navigation bar started working.
    I'd guess that the webpage title was "infront" of the clickable navigation bar.

  • Add a link to the navigation / menu bar

    I would like to add a home button infront of the My Workspace button in the navigation/menu bar at the top of my Vibe page.
    What jsp of file should I edit to achieve this?

    I didn't look for that JSP, but used the branding for a high level "menu" AND wrote my own JSP to have a dynamic horizontal menu based on a portion of the workspace tree. The problem with changing Vibe's grey menu bar is that any upcoming updates might destroy your tweak. I have a few of those I need to keep in mind whenever an update or patch is done.
    With my JSP adding, removing or modifying workspaces/folders in the identified branch automagically changes on the fly generated horizontal menu with the next refresh/visit of the landing page using the JSP. The menu can be for any branch of your workspace tree. If a visitor doesn't have access to a workspace or folder, the menu skips right over it automagically as well.
    You can find this homebrewed JSP and key details at : Use this nifty JSP to make a dynamic horizontal menu from a branch of your workspace tree | Novell User Communities
    It allows you to reorder the menu items and even drop some workspaces/folders from the menu with a simple trick explained in the article.
    To see the JSP at work, go to CSDECSO - Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest or any of our 30 or so school web sites being implemented within our existing Vibe instance. You won't be able to change the tree branch, but you will see the menu. Some schools have slightly different menu choices, if you poke around long enough to find these differences. I just made them accessible to the public a few weeks ago.
    Don't forget to use the integrated GoogleTranslate (generally near the Vibe printer icon in upper right corner beneath the branding and grey menu) to convert the bulk of our sites' content to any one of the 60 or so languages supported by Google. I have an article explaining how this was done as well. Of course, it is an automated translation, so don't expect perfection and don't be offended if it comes out the wrong way.

  • Navigation Menu Not Visible

    I just created a website through iweb. After I published it (FTP) the navigation menu suddenly did not show up at all on any of the web pages. All of the pages are there, but there are no borders around the pictures throughout the site, and on a photo album page, the photos wont show up. My hosting company is startlogic.com The site is www.southlandvet.com if you wanna check it out...The navigation is supposed to be at the top right part of the page. The photo page is www.southlandvet.com/Our_Pets.html
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Well, I published the site to a folder and published everything in that folder to the server and placed the scripts in a cgi-bin folder, which is what the hosting company told me to do. Is there another way?
    Ok, new guess... All the links to the scripts get broken because of placing the scripts into another location... You shouldn't change the structure of the site you should leave it the way iWeb created it... +How could a page ever know where the files are it needs to load properly if they aren't where it was told by iWeb?+ I don't know why they suggested you to do so...
    Try to upload it the way iWeb creates it without changing anything...

  • Show 2 level hierarchy in Managed Navigation menu(Current Navigation) in SharePoint 2013

    We have enabled Managed Navigation in SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site. Now when a user browses a page we want to show the current page siblings are its parent links in the Managed Navigation. Right now its showing only current page siblings in managed navigation.
    Is there any way to show current page parent links in Managed Navigation menu?
    For example I have a term set enabled for managed navigation with following terms:
    Level1
        Level 1.1
            Level 1.1.1
            Level 1.1.2
            Level 1.1.3
    Level 2
        Level 2.1
            Level 2.1.1
    Level 3
        Level 3.1
    Level 4
        Level 4.1
    Now if a user is on page Level1.1.1 then Current Navigation should show following hierarchy in using Managed Navigation :
    Level 1.1
        Level 1.1.1 -> This node will be shown as selected
        Level 1.1.2
        Level 1.1.3
    Level 2.1
    Level 3.1
    Level 4.1
    Is the above behaviour possible by doing any out of box configuration or using SharePoint designer?
    Thanks,
    Anna Jhaveri

    Ha i was given the same task by my client but they wanted it to be done in client side rather than creating new user control and inheriting from actual control.
    i used Jquery and css to achieve staticlevel 3+  left navigation in sharepoint 2013. first of all let me explain the structure i had created.
    HR department
     -->Level 1
    ---->Level 1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.2
    -->Level 1.2
     (same as above structure)
    all i did was setting up the staticlevel ="2" and dynamiclevel="3"
    so this would make left navigation with two level  and remaining of its sub sites as flyouts
    Part-1:
    so i used Js to convert all the flyout(dynamic class ) to static $(function(){
    $("ul.dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');$(".dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');  $(".static").removeClass('dynamic-children'); $("#zz12_RootAspMenu > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');
    $("leftnavigation ID"> li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');              $("leftnavigation ID" > li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children')
    $(".ms-navedit-flyoutArrow").removeClass('dynamic-children').removeClass('ms-navedit-flyoutArrow');
    by using this script all the dynamic classes get convert to static. after getting rid of classes call "dynamic" and "dynamic-children"
    second part :
    now we have convert all the dynamic level to static (just look wise) but functionally  its behaviors is like flyout menu items.so the following js adds the static behavior classes so it just functions like static menu
    $(function()
    var path = window.location.pathname;
    path = path.replace(/\/$/, "");
    path = decodeURIComponent(path)
    $("left nav ID" > li > ul > li.static.selected > ul > li > a").each(function () {
    var href = $(this).attr('href');
    if (path.substring(0, href.length) === href)
    $(this).closest('li').addClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected').addClass('selected').addClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    else
    $(this).closest('li').removeClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('selected').removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    How above code works:
    it  takes the url path of current page and compare it with the all the anchor elements href ,so when it finds the match it would go insert the static level class  like "selected" in the <li> and "ms-core-listMenu-selected" in the <a>
    tag so  they function like static.
    so i have done it for 4 levels so i had to put one more function as shown above to target and read <a> tag href values for 4th level and compare it with current page url.
    i didn't explain in detail in here, i'll be writing up again on this issue on  my blog with screen captures soon.
    Till then you can leave comments and questions.
    Disadvantage :this doest work if you have anything listed other then Subsites(pages,list,libraries) in left navigation.

  • Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome

    Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome. Works in IE. This is my first time trying to post a question - so please be kind. I am also not good with code and am finding css a real challenge after learning to design based on tables. I'm using CS5.
    The "test" page with the slide show is: http://www.reardanwa.com/index-slides.html   The same page without the slide show is http://www.reardanwa.com/
    I realize the images are not ideally sized - I'll fix those once I get the pages to function.  Maybe I need a different slide show? I would prefer a widget that I can modify to required size & postition. Again - I'm not good at building with code from scratch.
    The problem is the naviagation links that are directly next to the slide show do not work in Firefox of Chrome. They do work in IE.
    I've read about using jQuery.noConflict(); code but can't figure out the correct way to use it in my case or whether that's even part of the solution. I know my code is not well organized as I have cobbled together from various sources in an attempt to format the page the way the client wants it. Also, FYI, I will eventually try to make the page work in Surreal CMS.
    I've spent sevaral days over the last several weeks trying to solve sth slide show/navigation conflict - so any specific light you can shed will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    I am having major issues with links in keynote! Even though the links (a navigation system) are on the master page, they are only working on some of my slides. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this or similar issues? Help!
    I have created a navigation system on the master pages and set the presentation to links only mode. I also have other links scattered throughout the program, like a linkable table of contents, etc. Some of them work, some of them don't. Not sure why. Anyone out there having similar issues? Or have any idea on how I can solve this issue? Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Links should not create any problems in Keynote.  If they are set up correctly on text, the text will be underlined. Objects that have links will have a curved arrow bottom right, if you click the arrow a popup will display the link information.
    Try this repair for Keynote,  ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:

    delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, using Appcleaner from Mac Update, its a freeware application

    empty the trash:  Finder > Empty Trash

    Shut down your Mac, wait 30 seconds, then power on the Mac, immediately after the start chime, hold down the Shift key
    When you see the grey Apple symbol and progress indicator (a spinning gear), release the Shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, then hold down the Shift key again as you click Log in.

    Let the Mac fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive

    when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click  repair disc permissions

    when complete, restart the Mac normally, Apple menu > Restart

    install Keynote from the Mac App Store

  • How do I fix my floating drop down navigational menu?

    Hello, I am currently reworking my website to make it responsive, but I have hit a roadblock with my navigation menu:
    My goal for the menu is to have a floating navigational menu in which as the user hovers over the link the image changes. One of the tabs is intended to be a submenu that drops down horizontally. I also am trying to get the menu centered on the page using fluid positioning.
    As of now, I have a functional drop down menu with the rollover effects. It wasn't until I began work on floating the menu that I ran into a problem. At first, the menu was not scaling proportioally with the rest of the page, but upon looking around, I found: http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/beautiful-css-centered-menus-no-hacks-full-cross-browse r-support.
    Using the code on the link, I recoding the menu. In the end, the drop down menu is causing the problem. When I have the drop down menu still included in the code, the menu is broken up in three lines. The submenu is grouped with its parent, but they are grouped boxy (at least in the browsers I have checked) and only two are visible.
    I decided to humor myself and removed the code for the drop down menu to find that the menu works perfectly--it does everything I was aiming for for the time being--rollover, center, floating.
    Is there something that I am overlooking that will fix the drop down menu?
    I was thinking that I would have to center the styles for the sub menu, but I didn't see any results.
    What am I missing that I am not seeing?
    The links to the two pages:

    http://ryanolsenstudios.com/WithoutDropDown.html
    If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated, I have been looking around trying to figure this out, but to no avail. Thank you.

    I don't advise you use images for navigation as they are NOT scalable to any good effect.
    Below is a simplified version of your image buttons with dropdowns in place.
    The jQuery used to create the rollover swaps is going to get very long and unmanagable (it's just as an example) I suspect there will be more streamlined solutions using jQuery if you Google, like just adding _static.jpg and_over.jpg to the end of the image src, which will keep the code to a minimum of lines.

  • How can I create a hyperlink directly in the navigation menu using iWeb09?

    I would like to add a URL to an external page in the navigation menu of my website using iWeb09. I have not been able to change the URL automatically generated by iWeb09 for each new page. The best I can do is to select text or an image that I want to link to the external page. I would rather create the hyperlink directly in the navigation menu. Is there a way of doing this?

    Try this...
    Create a blank internal page named "Link" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that "Link" page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "http://www.externalpage.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
    ...Once published, clicking on "Link" in iWeb’s navbar will immediately redirect to the external page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).
