Suddenly our windows 7 clients can't connect to our wireless network due to a cert error?

Our company uses a Ruckus setup for our wireless network.  The laptops have to have a certificate on them issued from our CA and be a member of AD group.  Yesterday we noticed that nobody could connect to the internal wireless network.  In
the security logs for the computers there is a this error:
A request was made to authenticate to a wireless network.
Subject:

this cert was is supposed to be good for another year, is there anyway that I can get the CA server to renew this cert or do I need to issue a new one and distribute it?  The other issue I'm running into is I can't seem to get my CA to issue a new computer
cert.  All the servers are 08 R2 boxes.

Hi,
Do you have any progresses on this issue by now?

  • Airport Express can't connect back to wireless network

Here's the situation. There was a power glitch in our neighborhood that knocked our linksys wireless router offline. We have since gotten that back up and running. Meanwhile, our 2 Airport Express (used for iTunes only) went yellow and wouldn't rejoin the network with a hard reset. I have been trying to do the factory reset. The lights do their 4 green blinks but when the Airport Utility (not Airport Setup Utility - is that gone?) tries to rejoin the expresses to our wireless network we get the following error:
AirPort Utility was unable to find your base station after restarting.
The settings for this base station have been successfully updated, but there was a problem re-joining the wireless network or finding the base station. You may need to select your network from the AirPort menu and try again.
I am confused. We are using WPA2 personal encryption and I have included that info in the Airport Utility so it's not a password problem. I am sure I'm missing something completely stupid.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can't connect to any wireless networks

My macbook pro can't connect to any wireless networks outside of my home router. I've just taken it on holiday and I can't use it in any free wireless coffee shops or hotels.
Whenever i select a network it shows it's connected with black bars in the radar icon but I cant access the internet or mail. Most frustrating is it's working fine in windows when I use boot camp.
    I hope someone can help

Sometimes they can be stored in your Router and/or Modem, but having them in your Mac makes it so you don't have to rely on what's in or not in other's Routers.
    I don't understand DNS...
Simply put.. you type in apple.com, your Browser goes out to a DNS Server somewhere with the request to link to the number of that name, then comes back with 17.254.3.183... if you ever wonder, you could type in that 17.254.3.183 IP, if it doesn't load Apple, then you are not connected to the Internet, yet if it does, and apple.com doesn't... then it's just that nothing is looking up the addy!

  • Some clients can't connect after 10.6.6 update - the see an error -43

    Hi There,
I'm a designer so am not all that technical but have managed to setup and maintain OS X servers since 10.5.
I've just updated the server to 10.6.6 and now some of our clients can't connect - they get the following error:
"There was an error connecting to the server. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
If you are unable to resolve the problem contact your system administrator."
If I click OK to the error above on the client, I see another error which reads:
"The operation cannot be completed because one or more required items cannot be found.
    (Error code -43)"
I've restarted the server and the clients but no luck.
The server is running the following services:
    - AFP
    - DNS
    - Firewall
    - NFS (although I don't remember setting this up - is this started with AFP?)
    - Open Directory
I can ping the server and login via ARD so not sure why we see the first IP address error as mentioned above.
Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.
    Regards
    Ben

One question, is this when you hit "Connect to Server" or is this after you've established a connection and try to open/edit/save files?
    Here is some general advice:
    1) I assume your whole network is behind a router and that we are talking a small office environment (5-10 people) and not some large enterprise. If so the Firewall service can probably be disabled. As a matter of fact if your issue is that clients can't connect at all the firewall may actually be causing your problem.
    2) NFS can almost certainly be disabled. Its generally only used for two reasons 1) The netboot service needs it. 2) You support unix/bsd clients. I can see from your list of services that netboot isn't something you're doing and I doubt that as a designer you would have much use for unix/bsd systems.

  • First time MacBook user can't connect to a wireless network

Just got my first mac (mbpro 15) yesterday and can't seem to connect to my wireless network. I can see my network but when I select it, it doesn't connect. Do I have to do anything with my router since this is my first mac? The connection for my airport is showing as an amber color. What can I do to connect my cmputer to the Internet? Thanks

I just got done dealing with this. It took me 2 days and after 5 hours on the phone with Apple and Belkin they could not help me. I found out what to do after reading the forms. Try turning off the security on your router first. Then reset the router. Open the MacBook network preferences go to advanced setting for the airport. Delete your network connection. Now turn off your airport then turn it back on. Find your network again and connect now that the security if off. When this is done restart your MacBook. You should be able to connect now. This worked for me. I did not want to keep my network open so I then added the WPA2 security if you have it or use WPA pick a password and then start the process again. Reset the router. Open the MacBook network preferences go to advanced setting for the airport. Delete your network connection. Now turn off your airport then turn it back on. Find your network again and connect putting in the password this time. Now restart the MacBook and with some luck you should be good to go. I was ready to throw my MacBook out a window before I figured this out. Please let me know if you need more details than this. Good luck.

  • Upgraded 4s to iOS8 and can't connect to certain wireless networks anymore

I have an iPhone 4s that I updated to iOS 8.  Prior to update, I was using iOS 7 (whatever the latest iteration was), and was able to connect to various wireless networks. Following the update, I am no longer able to connect to the wireless network at my place of work.  It tries to connect, does so briefly, and give me an authentication request (screenshot attached). Blank username/passwords don't work, neither does the network name/password combo.  Choosing cancel will revert the connection back to 3G.
To try and fix the problem, I have "forgotten" the connection, re-started the phone, and neither has worked I have reset my network connections, and it worked immediately after the reset.  The phone was inactive for a while, and upon unlocking, it had reverted to 3G.  When I tried to re-connect, it gave the same errors already stated.
I no longer have a back-up from before the upgrade, so I can't go back to 7.  My wireless connection on my home network is fine.  Nothing has changed with the work wireless since it was working with my iOS 7. It uses a WPA-Personal security, and there are several repeaters for the signal throughout the building.
What is going on and how can I fix it?

  • Can't connect to any wireless network after waking from sleep

I have a Netgear wgr814 wireless router and a Powerbook 12" 867mhz. A few months ago, every once in a while when the PB awoke from sleep, it would not be able to connect to any wireless networks. My network showed in the airport menu, but the computer would not connect to it. I believe that the network settings show a self assigned IP of 169.x.x.x. Usually I can see 4 networks in the airport menu, but when it gets in this state only mine shows. Nothing I did on the computer side could make the computer reconnect: renew dhcp, restart, reseat airport card, etc.
After trial and error I found that if I restarted my router, the pb would reconnect and all would be well. The problem occurred about once a week for a while. Since resetting the router fixed the problem I thought that it may be my router so I updated the firmware. After doing so, the problem didn't occur for about a month, but now it happens at least once per day. Resetting the router always fixes the problem. I don't have to do anything to the PB. Once the router comes back up the PB obtains its IP and is happy again.
I'll mention that a Dell Laptop on the same network never has any issues and when the PB loses connection the Dell is always fine.
What could be doing this? My PB is over 3 years old, so is the airport card starting to die? That's the only thing I can think of.

    hi there
alright.... I tried a bunch of things and I'm not exctly sure what I did that did the trick, but I got the problem solved. I turned off the WPA encryption on the AP. Then I turned it back on with a different password.
I wonder if the first password I had was too short and that was some how causing confusion.

  • Windows 7 client can't connect to Server 2008 R2 Print Server VM (ESXi 5.5)

I have an issue today that is driving me bonkers.
I recently came on-board to a company in my area as the system administrator and this network has everything and the kitchen sink wrong with the network layout, probably the worst I've seen and I'm slowly but surely fixing it day by day.....
Well today I decided I was going to spin up another VM from a template and make a Print Server, seems harmless right? --- I thought so too, added all of the printers to the server and did test pages, all was dandy, but then I tried to add the printers to
clients and other server and the real fun has begun, I'm truly perplexed now...
I added a VM to my esxi 5.5 cluster at work that is a 2008 R2 server with only print management on it. I can map all of the printers on the network to the print server as-well as install the drivers correctly and I can resolve the IP and server name via
DNS. I can test printers directly from the print server successfully printing out test pages however whenever I try to map printers you know from the directory in 'devices and printers' from any of the Windows 7 clients or any of the other 2003/2008 servers
I get the classical "Windows cannot connect please check the network connection and make sure sure the printer is turned on". I disabled the windows firewall and I made the point to print GPO set to disabled and still no luck. Again I can print to
all of the printers internally inside of the VM (so I know it communicating to all of the printers), I just can't connect to the printers listed in the directory on any of external desktop/client, it's like so annoying. spent about 6 hours until my brain just
couldn't think anymore, was about to go BS on the VM.
The only thing I can think of, as I was driving home, is that there is a GPO on one of the DC that has a desginated print server policy set. But prior to last week the forest leve was 2000 and now it's 2003. I just don't know Server 2000 enough to know if GPO's
worked in the same way they do in 2003.
Right now printers are connected to other servers in a ad hoc mentality it seems, there has never been a true print server.
Anyone ever have this problem before?
    I'm truly puzzled...

    Hi Mid.Hudson-IT,
Before we begin ,we should ensure we have configured the printer server correctly .
Here is a link for reference of configuring the printer server .
Print server role: Configuring a print server
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775791(v=ws.10).aspx
"I can map all of the printers on the network to the print server as-well as install the drivers correctly and I can resolve the IP and server name via DNS"
From this sentence ,I can`t figure out whether you have tried to ping the server both with the IP adress and name adress from the client ?
If we can ping the print server from the client,we can ensure the connection to the printer server is good .
Then we can try to install the printer driver directly to have a check .In the adress bar of Windows Explorer ,input "\\server name \the printer name"
If we cannot ping the print server ,we should troubleshoot the network issue firstly.
We also can check the event viewer for more information to troubleshoot this issue .
    Best regards

  • Windows XP client can't connect to AirPort Extreme AP with WEP enabled.

    Hello,
I have big problem with Mac Mini AirPort Extreme working in AP mode with Windows XP client.
Some time ago, AP refuse to connect Windows XP clients (notebook) when WEP is enabled (40/128 bit, same problem), while before that, everything work perfect.
On other hand, iPhone can connect using WEP without an problem.
When WEP is turned off, XP client can connect but this is not acceptable for me.
I must notice that friend of mine have absolute SAME PROBLEM which rise almost at same time few months ago. They have Mac Mini and XP notebook (different then mine) which can not connect with WEP turned on, while his iPod touch work!
I guess that this happened due AirPort Firmware upgrade included in some of Apple software update.
Does anybody have similar problem or know the solution?
    My AirPort Card Information:
Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x86)
    Wireless Card Locale: Worldwide
    Wireless Card Firmware Version: 1.4.16.2
    Current Wireless Network: Mac mini
    Wireless Channel: 11
    Tnx in advance.

mikikg, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry but this is a known issue.
The only solution is to get a real wireless router instead of using your Mac mini as a base station.

  • Suddenly can't connect to home wireless network

All of a sudden I can't connect to my home wireless network - always has worked perfectly.  Now I get a box asking for the password, and although I type it in correctly it keeps saying "incorrect password."  I thought I'd delete it and re-establish it, but it doesn't show up in the Managed Network settings.  Any ideas what is going on?

On the problem computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
Next, print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer (Network menu).  Note the printer's IP address.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Can't connect 802.1x wireless network

I upgraded my MacBook to Leopard, and I can't connect to the 802.1x wireless network in our campus any more (It requires PEAP). I used to log on quickly and the speed was amazing compared to my Windows Laptop. But now, every time I try to connect to the network, the Leopard does not pop any window for user name and pwd any more. I tried all kinds of configuration in the "802.1x" bar in "Network Preference/AirPort/Advanced" option, and it did not work. And even worse, when I added the network into my "Preferred" and made configuration in "802.1x" option, and tried to select the preferred "Network Name", every time I did this, Leopard would freeze and crash.... What a nightmare!!
I wonder if anybody else has the same problem with mine. I am driven crazy after two days trial.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Airport problems - can't connect to home wireless network

I am stumped. i made the upgrade to quicktime ( it's not 7.4.5?) and suddenly airport didn't work. i input the wep password, and it returns, There was an error. When I try through Network Assist it says that the password is incorrect. Which of course, is not true. This same upgrade seems to have also created keychain issues.
I can connect without problem when hardwired through ethernet, however, I need the wireless to work.
    Thanks, Thomas
ps. I'm using the same Linksys BEFW 11S4 that I have for years...

First of all, I want to say that i"m surprised in 24 hours or so, no one had anything to say on this subject. To help anyone else who has this problem, I will give the answer for I have solved the problem ( desperation has a way of forcing one to figure it out by the old trial and error method).
What occurred was that some how, the keychain document for my computer ( the home document, not login nor system) was inadvertently taken out. It was in another folder, but, I didn't realize what it was since it did not have .keychain in the name. Just my computer name. I got a hunch and put it back into place. And, suddenly Safari asked for the keychain password ( which had not been working either) and i put in the computers password and it was accepted. Airport was still not connect, but, when I manually input the wep password, it accepted it and turned on. What puzzles me is why the fact that there was no keychain home document, interfered with the manual inputting of the correct WEP password in airport. That I don't understand. Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be done with this all. And to have learned yet another mac secret. ( what ever that is). So, thanks to myself and I hope that someone is helped by what I have written here.

  • Time Capsule Can't connect to my wireless network

    Hi there,
I can't connect my new Time Capsule to my existing wireless network. I followed screen instructions, set up my network name and password, then time capsule need to be disconnected and then nothing.. My MacBook Can't see Time Capsule
I did restored it to factory and tryed manual setup but didn't work either.
    Any sugestions?
    Thank you

what is your current router? (the one you're trying to connect to with your TC)? If it's not Apple (Airport series, another TC) you'll mose likely experience compatibility issues. With 3rd party routers (non-Apple) it's hit and miss. Some tips:
    1. use WEP not WAP as encryption
    2. Make sure your current router supports WDS, set it to turn WDS on
    3. try with no encryption, if you can connect, then try WEP, then WPA, you'll see where the problem is.
    4. some routers, even if spec doesn't say so, work well in WDS mode and even work with TC with WPA on. The trick is to load them with "special" firmware. Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware is a good example. Check if there's any alternative firmwares for your router. Start here:

  • IPad 2 can only connect to unsecured Wireless network.  It won't connect to my secured network at home or at work

Two days ago my ipad 2 with (wifi only) will not connect to my secured network even though it show's up as available with a strong signal.  It keeps rejecting my password.  I brought the Ipad to work and the same issue.  However I am able to connect to an unsecured wireless network with no issue.  Is this a network/router issue or an ipad issue?  If it's a network issue what is the fix? calling my internet provider to change router settings?

    - I've used the correct pw (it worked till 2 days ago)
    - I use road runner from Time warner, not sure of the mac address filtering
    -Security is WPA PSK.
I called road runner to request they remove my pw and see if i can access my wireless if that works which i believe it will then it has to be a security issue.  I'm using a 802.11n wifi access point, if that means anything.

  • Can't connect to existing wireless network

I have a Qwest wireless modem (model 2701hg-d) and am trying to set up the Airport Express (AX) to use already existing wireless network wirelessly (ie without the ethernet cable). Is this possible? Do I need a wireless router instead?
In order to set it up I have the AX plugged into the modem via an ethernet cable. I have reset the AX and then run the Admin Utility. Once it recognizes the AX I then go to the Airport tab and select 'Join an Existing wireless Network (wireless client)' and then enter in the Network Name exactly as it is spelled in my modem configuration. I check the 'Internet' tab and it says connect using: Wireless Network and the 'Network' tab is grayed out. Then I hit update and the admin utility no longer lists the AX and the AX light is blinking amber. Not sure what is going on. I am using v6.3 of the firmware. I have read the posts extensively and am wondering if my modem is not capable of handling this?

    Hi
Not exactly certain if your situation is like mine, but you could check out this previous post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=917767&tstart=0
If you are trying to achieve wireless bridging then I don’t think APX will work with that particular router.
