Suddenly Printing a PDF to a PDF Doesn't Work

I'm currently working in Windows XP Pro 64-bit, InDesign and Acrobat Pro 9.5 (CS4).
We create a dozen 300-page catalogs each year in InDesign CS4, then create 300dpi CMYK PDFs to send to our commercial printer. We also create low-resolution PDFs for a website that posts them for us. In order to create the low-res PDFs, I have always just printed the 300dpi PDFs to a 72dpi PDF from within Acrobat Pro. I use a preset I created and this has always worked flawlessly. Today when I tried it, I got an error message pop-up that said it could not be printed, then another message pop-up that said "no pages were selected to print". I tried several PDFs and none of them worked.
The caveat might be that I'm not sure if I have tried to print any low-res PDFs since we upgraded our computers and 64-bit XP Pro. Does anyone know if there's a known issue with running Acrobat Pro 9.5 (CS4) in 64-bit?
Does that make sense?

OK. I just checked this on another computer running XP Pro 64-bit and on the one machine that's still running XP Pro 32-bit. It worked on the 32-bit and did NOT work on the 64-bit, so it must be AA 9.5 running in the 64-bit environment. I read something for version 8 about a .dll file not being installed during the installation process because the installer is 32-bit and it couldn't find the file, and I found the file, but the installer doesn't run because it says that "Adobe Acrobat Spedloader (or something like that) is running. The only problem is that I can't quit it. It doesn't even show up in the Task Manager. If anyone knows where this file is supposed to be, I could drag it there manually.

As you see the information of the table TA_AUSGABE will be just prined into spool. When I have only information for one page everything
work fine, but as soon there more information to be printed I cannt open my pdf file with the spool info anymore.
What could be a reason?

The code works for me for printing more than 1 page.
Pls try giving the spool id manually in report RSTXPDFT4 and see whether it gets Multi pages in pdf and let me know if you have any issues.

Adding PDF watermark in Automator doesn't work in Lion?

Hi folks,
I am trying to create a function for adding watermarks to my invoices. I read different tutorials, but whatever I make, when it comes to adding the watermark background (Automator -> Workflow -> PDFs -> Watermark PDF document (not quite sure about the english name)) it doesn't add anything. I tried .jpg, .psd, .png, different image files and sizes. However I never get any file into my list.
Any hints?

Here's a workaround:
1. Create a workflow, including the "Watermark PDF Documents" action, save it as a workflow.
2. Show the contents of the saved workflow, find the file "document.wflow" inside the "Contents" folder, open it with a word processor, e.g TextEdit or BBEdit or Microsoft Word
3. Find the parameter block of the "Watermark PDF Documents" action, it should look like below:

I want to have users submit the form in PDF format but it doesn't work using the email submit button

Hi all,
I have a form that I want to be returned to a specific email address as a PDF File. This is so that reservations people can open the pdf, and extract the information from it. Keeping it as a PDF will allow them to easily read and use the form.
When I use the "Add and Email Submit button" approach, as outlined in the "How to" area, everything works fine, except that the format of the submitted file is in xml, not Pdf which is what I need it in.
I then tried adding a Button to the document from the Library, and set it's "Control Type" to "Submit". This provided me with the submit sub-tab, where I set the "Submit Format" to PDF. In the "Submit to Url", I entered the following - "mailto:[email protected]" (without the quotes)
The first approach works, but is not in the PDF format that I need (I believe).
The second approach keeps giving the following error when one selects the submit button - "This operation is not permitted".
We use Lotus Notes (yes, I know...not my favorite either, and it may be the problem here).
Any help that might be provided is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, but, using the "free" version of Reader, there is no opportunity to open nor import the xml data - the menu options do not exist - there is no import listed.
If we try to open the xml file directly, then we get an error - something to the effect of "unsupported file type, or the file is corrupted".
I just noticed in my Pro version that there is the command File ->Form Data ->Import Data to Form... command. Is this what you are referring to?
What do you recommend? Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a few copies of Acrobat Pro for the reservations people to use? I was hoping that the free version of reader would do it, but perhaps not?

Since connecting my printer to airport express my scanner doesn't work. Help?

My printer is connected to our Aiport Express and now prints wirelessly from all computers in our home. BUT now the scanner does not work. I fear I may not be able to keep the printer (HP CM1312nfi MFP) connected to the A/Exp if I want it to still be able to utilise the scanner. Does anyone know how to make the scanner and printer work through A/Exp? Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Base Stations and Time Capsule
Finally, check out this IBM support article to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work.

Hello everyone!
I have a problem with ReportViewer Print Button once web app is published on clients server - print button just isn't working. Little message is appearing in status bar in Internet Explorer "Done, but with errors on page". Everything is working swell in the development environment though. I wonder if it has something to do with the location of the app. It's not located in the default wwwroot location, but in special share on drive D and I had to reassign location of the button images to get them displayed, but no use - they don't work except for zoom option.
What is missing and how do I make it work?

It is a known bug in JSE8, caused by UML module.
UML overrides default IDE 'Save All' behavior to detect changes to the UML project in addition to the changes to opened documents in editors, but it has flaws in its logic. If a user does not use UML, does not create a UML project, the 'Save All' will be disabled forever, and turning off UML modules from option panel will result in disappearance of 'Save All' button altogether from Toolbar, #6327054.
The simplest workaround for those who don't use UML is to rename uml1 directory in installation location ( default C:\Program Files\Sun\jstudio_ent8\ide\uml1), re-start IDE with a new user dir. This way, UML module will not be loaded, the default 'Save All' will not be tampered.

Suddenly, Flash Player plug-in 10.3 doesn't work

I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8 on my MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz, and just in the last few days, every time I go to one of many websites that contain Flash video, I see the "Missing plug-in" message. This is in Safari 5.0.6. It worked until this weekend!
I have used Adobe's un-installer and Flash Player 10.3.183.18 installer a few times, but to no avail. The plug-in is actually installed in Library/Internet Plug-ins, but apparently it is not functioning. Even the Adobe website doesn't recognize the plug-in! There is a box there that should display the version of the plug-in currently on the Mac, but it shows only a blank, gray box.
Can anyone tell me why this plug-in is not working?

Note the part about "Uninstalling Flash" in the discussion. Follow that link to the uninstaller tool. Delete whatever is there now and then reinstall. Cleans things up nicely
However...
Consider upgrading to 10.6.8. I also have s 2,2G 15-inch MBP that came with 10.5 and am generally "upgrade-adverse." However, going to 10.6 greatly improved both performance and stability, plus regained about 15 percent free space on the 120G hard drive. My MBP felt like a new computer.
10.6 was the best US$30 I've spent on tech in a long time. It will let you use the latest version of Flash.

Image Policy when I create a PDF file: warn and continue doesn't work

I need to create a PDF file with lots of images, and I need to know if any of that images is in low resolution (<300 ppi). I have tried to use the image policy in the PDF settings but it doesn't work, because if I choose "Warn and continue" (if the resolution of any image is <300 ppi, warn and continue) the program creates the PDF file but don't warm me and I don't see any message... and I'm sure that there are bad images because I have made a check test with 72ppi images.

email send/receive suddenly doesn't work (as of September 24th); I can't change email settings (one suggestion from tech) as BB phone won't accept *valid* username and password -- what to do?
I understand from a support note that if I keep trying my password/username combination, my BB will eventually delete all data!
I can't understand this. I'm completely lost now. I can't remember what I've done or tried to do. A plethora of usernames and passwords is swimming in my head.
Thanks for any hints. I have always loved this BB Bold and have never had any trouble with it.

But the real question is why for the past year did the passwords work and then all of the sudden after this anomaly the disk password doesn't work? I'm not 100% sure of what my configuration was, but I know that most of the time it required one password -- supervisor, and occasionally it asked for 2 -- disk password as well I believe. This may have been related to the Password on Restart setting I think -- asking for the disk password on cold vs. warm boot. But I know both were exactly the same. But after this incident only the Supervisor password worked.

Alright this is a tricky one. W520 w/ Intel SSD.
I've got a Supervisor (SPV) password set for my BIOS as well as a HD password set.
I don't think I had a Power-on password set but I'm not sure.
No problems, my password has always worked.
I'm working and I have my laptop plugged into my LAN via Ethernet and I shut down. I always use wireless but was working with my router settings so had it plugged in via Ethernet this time.
When I start up, it started trying to boot from LAN, I see the Intel Boot manager start up (screen saying Press Ctrl + S to change options), and of course there is nothing on my LAN to PXE boot from so it proceeds after failing.
Then it asks for my Supervisor password, I enter it, works, asks for my HD password, I enter it, doesn't work. I try again, doesn't work. Try a third time, locks me out. I restart the machine.
The next time it asks for my HD password first rather than my Supervisor password, which doesn't work again. I reboot again.
Third time through this charade and for some reason the HD password works now but only to get me into the BIOS -- meaning I've pressed F1 and it asks for my password and lets me into the BIOS settings.
From here I try to remove the User password on the hard drive but it does not accept the password -- the same password I just entered and it accepted.
Now I'm not fat fingering or anything, the password is simple and I'm making sure I'm typing it in exactly correct.
So somehow powering off and powering on with my Ethernet cable connected has majorly screwed up my passwords in the BIOS. I think it was set to re-order boot devices if Wake-on-LAN was enabled or something, but something in that process must have screwed up my BIOS config. I don't know what to do. I don't understand what the heck is happening here. Password works then all of a sudden doesn't?

Login/sso doesn't work suddenly

we have a little problem with our productive PI 7.0. Out of a sudden the login on Repositoy and Directory doesn't work anymore. RWB, ABAP login and SLD work properly. Out admin is on holiday and hopefully hasn't changed anything to our user data... Is there a task or anything which could cause this?
If yes, how to fix it?

You can do soft restart through tcode SMICM on Abap stack.
Tab --> Administration --> ICM --> J2EE Instance --> Send Soft Shutdown --> With Restart.
It will restart only java stack.

Adobe 3D Reviewer: "renaming"doesn't work!

I'm an applied scientist doing numerical modeling and visualization. In the research group we used Acrobat 3D as a better way to communicate with colleagues and our clients. I just downloaded the trial version of Acrobat 9 Pro extended and had to uninstall Acrobat 3D.
I use Acrobat to export vtk files (visualized in Mayavi2) in 3D pdf.
Once the 3D pdf is created, I'd like to rename the different layers or entities in the 3D reviewer (as I was doing in Acrobat 3D with 3D toolkit). So I use the 'rename' option, enter a new name, and try to 'save back in pdf'.. unfortunately it doesn't work. The layers are not renamed in the pdf file.
Furthermore, if I check the properties of a layer or entity in 3D reviewer, its name hasn't change either.
Does anyone had encounter this problem before or has any idea on how to fix it?

Type a name, and press Enter. "
Unfortunately the new name isn't exported back to the pdf file when I 'save back in pdf'.
Just to be sure, once you rename an entity by right-clicking, typing and pressing enter, check in the entity properties if the name as been updated. In my case, it has been updated.

This feature was particularly useful for scientific modelling. Indeed, when you have to deal with a large number of units and properties within a model, you absolutely need to know what you're visualizing using the model tree.
Is there any chance that this feature will be updated in the product?

Canon LBP5050 doesn't work OSX Maverick

I update my imac OSX Maverick. I can't get printing my Canon LBP5050. I install new driver but nothing happend. I try delete printer and install again but nothing works. Have anybody get working this model printer? Please can someone help me?

If you are trying to print using the printer you created when it was connected to the Mac via USB, then this printer will not work when you have it connected to the USB port of the Airport Express. It will give you the message you are getting, as the printer is no longer connected directly to the Mac via USB cable. The solution is to create a new printer for the Airport connected printer.

With previous versions of the Canon CAPT driver, you have not been able to print when the printer is connected to the USB port of an Airport device. This was due to limitations with the CAPT driver. I am not sure if this is still the case with the latest version of the CAPT driver but I would expect it to be so.
You could try connecting the LBP to the Airport Express USB port and then creating a new printer in Printers & Scanners. Once this is complete then see if you can print. I expect it to fail but I cannot test until I return to work next week.
