Suddenly spanish google became default search tool instead of russian

hi everyone,
so I described my problem in the topic name.
just few days ago safari on 10.6.8 started to search results on spanish site instead of russian. I made nothing special just was browsing the web that day so I could not reach the root of the problem and its cause.
any suggestions why it happened and how could it be fixed?

of course.
I just followed this link - http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
there changed the language and saved the settings.
so it's not safari bug at all, something was wrong with google.

  • How do I make google my default search engine instead of inbox search engine?

Google was my search engine anytime I would type just keywords into the line where you type web addresses. However, I somehow must have uploaded a new search engine called 'Inbox', which I don't care for, and now I have to type keywords into the search to the right of the screen to use google. I would like to make google my permanent search engine when using Firefox. Any suggestions? I thought I had already deleted the inbox toolbar, but it didn't change my search engine. I am not so computer savvy so...
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== don't know how or when

I had this problem to, drove me insane for weeks. Eventually i found out how to solve the problem though:
    1. Open a new tab and in the address bar, type in "about:config" (without the quotations)
    2. A little warning pops up, just press ok and move on.
    3. In the filter search type in "inbox" (without the quotations)
    4. Right-click on any of the results that pop-up and click reset.
That solved the problem for me, and hopefully it will for you as well.

  • With latest download, I specifically excluded yahoo as default search engine. It loaded anyway and I can not get rid of it and restore Google as default search engine

I had Google as default search engine. Now, Yahoo shows up and even when I delete it, close firefox 8.0, restart it, Yahoo again rears its ugly head. Nothing seems to fix this. Any program I install that is tied in to Yahoo, I specifically exclude the installation of the Yahoo tool bar. How do I get rid of it once and for all?

  • Safari won't make Google my default search engine. + Top Sites issue.

    hello
I am running 10.9.5, latest iMac, latest Safari.
Here's my issue. Safari won't make Google my default search engine.
I switched it in preferences, and it says the default search engine is 'Google', as well as saying it even saying 'Google' in the Toolbar text field.
However the results always come back in Yahoo. I've tried resetting Safari, opening and closing the app but no luck.
Also I have it set to show 24 Top Sites, but it only displays 12 and it's been stuck on the same 12 sites for 2 days.
I'm assuming these two might be related as they are both preferences which stubbornly refuse to save as defaults.
Any one else having these issues? Anyone know how to fix?
    Thanks!
    ;D

  • I want google as my search engine, not Bing. How do I make Google the default search engine in the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar; or, how do I remove the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar so that "Google" can be default?

I want google as my search engine, not Bing. But no matter what I do in "Manage Search Engines," Firefox seems to reset to "Search the Web," which uses Bing.
How do I make Google the default search engine in the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar; or, how do I remove the "Search the Web" feature of the search bar so that "Google" can be default? When I move "Search the Web" down and "Google" up, the search bar resets every time Firefox reloads.

Sometime Bing is not located in the Add/Remove programs section of the control panel.
6 Easy Steps to Remove Bing from Mozilla Firefox:
    1. Click on the "inverted triangle" located to the right of the orange Bing icon.
    2. Select the option "Manage Search Engines...". (A pop-up window will appear titled "Manage Search Engine List.)
    3. Select "Bing".
    4. Click the "Remove" button.
    5. Select the desired search engine from the list.
    6. Click "OK"
    All Done.... :-)
    Happy Searching...

  • How Do I Make Google My Default Search and Permanently Disable Yahoo Search?

I recently ran into a problem where Yahoo became my default search engine in the Firefox toolbar. I have checked my addons and extensions, went into About:Config several times and reset it to Google. I did a complete reset on Firefox and I did a System Restore to yesterday's date. It seems that no matter what I try, when I close Firefox and reopen it, the Yahoo Search is reset as the default. How do I get rid of it once and for all and keep Google as my default search engine in Firefox?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

When doing a search today on my ipad, I inadvertently checked a box asking to have yahoo become default search engine. I didn't realize until it was too late. I want to go back to using google for search when I have safari open. Don't seem to see a way to change back to google. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

  • Can't find the portable apps available and make google the default

The operating system is Windows XP. I recently installed Mozilla Firefox portable on a flash drive. It seems to work fine.
During the installation process, I was shown a long list of portable apps for selection. I only selected Mozilla Firefox portable, which was my main interest at the time with the idea that I could revisit this list at a later date and select additional apps.
I would appreciate instructions on how to do this.
The default search engine is Firefox. I can change it to Google by typing Google's website. I would also appreciate instructions on how to make Google the default search engine, if that is possible on the portable version of Firefox.
    Thank you

hi unfinished, sorry but the portable apps suite is a different third-party product not related to mozilla, so we're not able to provide support for it in our forums. if you have a question about it, please refer to their support channels at http://portableapps.com/support
firefox doesn't have its own search engine but is making use of certain default search providers to handle you searches. the way to change you default search engine in firefox is explained in: [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]]

  • Firefox default start page uses facemoods search engine instead of google

Hi, I have issue with Firefox. Today I’ve notice that when I’m using search option on default Firefox 4.0 start page (about:home), results are displayed with Facemoods search engine instead of Google. I have uninstalled Facemoods from system and Firefox, yet it didn't work.

I haven't heard of this one before. The uninstall must have left behind a few settings.
The page corresponding to "about:home" must be set in a hidden preference. You can search for and reset it using the about:config feature.
    (1) Type or page '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter (click the button promising to be careful, and please be careful)
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''facemoods''' and pause while Firefox searches
    (3) The bolded lines show changes from the original Firefox setup. Some you might want to save, but mostly you would want to reset them to default. Right-click each one you want to change and choose Reset.
This blog post describes an additional fix for the address bar search feature if you use that: [http://www.flywithmysoul.com/2010/09/remove-facemood-from-firefox.html Fly With Me: Remove Facemood From Firefox].
Finally, I found a very long cleanup guide on the Spybot S&D forums which might be useful if the above doesn't solve it: [http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=61616 Manual Removal Guide for Toolbar.Facemood - Safer-Networking Forums].
    Does it work?

  • When connected to my wi fi firefix mobile default searches with verizon search instead if google.

    this just started happening today.

    Hi Jester1111
Sorry to hear about this problem.
Firefox for Android doesn't just switch search providers arbitrarily.
    Two guesses:
    1) You accidentally or somehow forgot that you installed an add-on that does search on Verizon by default.
    * In the Firefox for Android menu: check Tools | Add-ons and make sure you don't have a Firefox for Android add-on that makes Verizon your search provider or that Verizon is your default search provider.
    * If you do have an add-on related to Verizon, disable it
    * If somehow Verizon became a search provider, long tap on Verizonand tap "Disable"
    2) Verizon did something strange. Not sure what they could do and how to cope with it but it's a possibility that your ISP (which I guess is Verizon) can do weird things when connected to the ISP's WiFi.
    Followup questions:
    * What Android device are you using?
    * What version of Android are you using?

  • Please remove demand to select search tool - I want Google default

I don't want to have to remember to change the search tool to Google before I search for something. I particularly don't like Yahoo, which seems to be the default. How do I disable the demand that I select something every time?

hello, you don't need to select a search engine every time - just type the search term and hit enter (or click the search button at the right of the input field). the icons on the bottom of the search drop down are only there to make it easier to use different engines on a one off basis.
you can select your default search engine in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > search''.
