Suddenly today (March 13) I cannot attach a file to my outgoing gmail.

This problem began this afternoon.

I also had this problem since yesterday, but using Win7. I tried cleaning cache and cookies, restarting the browser and the pc, but nothing happened. With IE and Chrome the attachment worked fine.
I hoped that with the yesterday's 3.6.28 updade it would be fixed, but it didn't.
So, I saw the comment above about using the refresh button on FIREFOX (not Gmail's refresh) and tried, and the problem was gone.
So, if anybody has the same issue, try hitting the refresh button on firefox :)
And thank you, junkcat!

• Beginning yesterday I cannot attach a file to an outgoing Hotmail email. Also, I am getting an error apology note from Firefox?

When a prepare to send a Hotmail email and attach a file it will no longer allow me to do so. However it occurs only on this computer, not my laptop, which I do not use Firefox on. This is true for both my Hotmail account and my wife's.
Please help.

This can be a problem with the Silverlight plugin.
Does Silverlight work if you try one of the demos via this page?

I cannot attach pdf files in Outlook. Just started yesterday. I need a fix as I use this alot.

You can experiment with how Firefox would run after a reset or reinstall by creating a new profile.
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (in other words, don't click the button to choose a different folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
After Firefox settles down, try Outlook. Any luck?
If it works, log out of Outlook, exit Firefox, restart it and check again. If it doesn't work the second time, one possible explanation is a a system-installed add-on getting picked up or activated.
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

• How do I attach several files to an outgoing email?

I am trying to attach several files to one outgoing email address. I am looking for feedback on how this can be done or to be informed if it is not possible. Thank you.

Basically, it is not possible unless they are photos (max of 5) from with the Photo app or documents fom specific pps such as Goodreader. Otherwise, you open the app, select the document and then email.

• AS of today I cannot attach a file in FF 33.1 w/yahoo 1.32 toolbar?

Had no problem attaching files yesterday but today the pdf file only loads to a point and then just sits there with the spinning wheel. Had the same problem with IE but after several tries, was able to attach the file and send the email with it. Nothing I have done works to solve the problem in Firefox....clearing cache, history, checking for latest updates for FF, etc.

hello normanbg, please directly contact the extension developer through the support mail provided at the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/external-application-button/ homepage of the addon] - he can likely give you more detailed guidance and is the only one who can fix bugs or make necessary adjustments in the addon for new firefox versions. thank you...

• I suddenly cannot attach any file to an email whilst using Firefox 5.

My preferred browser is Firefox 5, which I have been using trouble-free until now. All of the sudden, I am unable to attach any file to an email. I simply get a file loading attempt that never times out. At first I thought it was a Yahoo problem, but my work email server will not add attachments either. I downloaded Google Chrome just now as a test, and still can't add attachments. Might this be a Windows problem? Anyone run into this? Thank you. I am my own IT department and it is sad... Katherine

Try clearing your browser cache.
Tools > Clear Recent History... - hit Details and make sure only Cache is selected, then select Everything and hit the Clear Now button.

Follow up: The problem seems to have corrected itself. My guess is that Hotmail was the issue.

• I cannot "attach a file" using gmail in firefox x 9.01

when I compose an email, the "attach a file" just would not accept any attachment. First time it happens to me on my firefox 9.01

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• All of a sudden, I cannot attach any file to an email I wnat to send out. It just will not load. What can I do to correct this?

you can see it is trying to load, but never completes and attaches

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

• Cannot attach any file to any email from within Mail (6.2) in Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Everything was normal until 2 weeks ago, when suddenly I realized that photos from iPhoto do not appear in the body of the email as they used to. When I tried to attach a .doc or a .pdf, the result was the same. I sent an email with text and attachment to myself, and got only the text.
Also, any mail I use (Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and a couple others) is not attaching files when using the online page in Safari. I am forced to go through Chrome.
Did anybody experience this?
Thx!

Hi,
The iMessages side of Messages and FaceTime use these ports.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4245
(Technically there are more for the "iChat Side" of Messages as well)
It is best if the router is using UPnP to open/allow ports.
Try adding a public DNS servers to System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab
Google run 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
It seems that for some reason some DNS servers cannot find the Apple Servers for iMessages and FaceTime (it is two different servers)
It may pay you add them to the router if you can add extra ones (some are limited to the two fields the numbers go in)
You could change the time server the router uses to be the same Apple Time Server.
It becomes quite important about the ability to Time Stamp the "Registration" process and later when sending IMs.
The other thing that some people are finding is that they have an Altered Hosts File.
Use the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder and enter /etc/hosts
This will take you to Hard Drive Name/Private/etc/ and highlight the Hosts file
You have to do it this way as the Private folder is hidden/Invisible.
The Hosts file should look like this

• Since the last update, I cannot attach a file to my email in MobileMe. It has always worked until the latest update. Now, nothing happens when you click on the paper clip icon and 'choose' the file to add.

I am using MobileMe on my Mac. Until the last update a few days ago, Firefox always allowed me to attach files to my emails. Now, when I click on the paper clip, and it takes to me find the file I want to attach, and I highlight the file I want to attach and click on 'open', nothing at all happens. the screen just goes back to my email. It always worked before, it does not now. It DOES work on Safari but I hate Safari, i want to use firefox.

-> Clear the Network Cache
-> Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Check and tell if its working. Hope that helps!
