Suddenly TV not detected by Thinkpad

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad (Edge Series) running Windows 7. It took quite an effort to get it connected successfully to my TV via HDMI (there's a port on the TV and the computer). For quite some time, when I connected the two, both screens went black. I finally stumbled on the solution, which seemed to be dependent on turning on the TV after the connection was made. I was able to duplicate the desktop so both screens displayed.
Following the latest Windows Updates a couple of days ago, I'm back where I started. When I connect the TV, both screens go dark. This makes it impossible to select the Duplicate option in Windows (or any option).
The Intel HD4000 Control Panel does not offer multiple displays and never has. I have updated the Lenovo system and the BIOS. My driver for the Intel HD4000 is up to date.
When I connect the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI, it works perfectly.
I know this has come up before in other threads. The fact that the laptop display goes black when the TV is connected makes it impossible to troubleshoot the connection (though I'm not sure what or how to troubleshoot).
The HDMI cable worked just fine, until a couple of days ago.

Have you checked your network configuration - (Not a file but the actual set up)? I know my ATV is in my living room, and I had to run a cable directly back to my router. If you try to run a router off of router (ie not a switch) the apple TV will not work. Are you running a router off of a router?
BTW, I know this sounds crazy but my tivo / xbox and other devices do not have a problem with this but the ATV did.

External monitor not detected on Thinkpad W530 intel-virtual-output

I'm having problems with connecting my ThinkPad W530 to external monitors since a few months. I'm using NVIDIA Optimus and bumblebee/optirun since the VGA and Mini DisplayPort connectors are only wired to the NVIDIA card om this laptop. For a long time I have executed:

Then I have started the Screens GUI tool in Gnome to setup the placement of the external screen but now the external screen is not present in the GUI tool and xrandr gives me:

If I select "Discrete mode" and select startup screen as VGA in the BIOS the BIOS and the Grub screens shows on the external monitor but the screen locks on the screen that shows that the system is booting with the linux-ck kernel. This has never worked for me in Arch Linux so that is no surprise. In Ubuntu everything everything worked fine the last time I tried.
How can I debug this? Why is the external screen not detected any more?

Q10 Sim not detected problem

Hi all,
i have problem with my BlackBerry Q10 device. It "lost" SIM card. Sound confsed, but I got message like: "No SIM card detected" while using GPRS. Restart or even force power off (take off battery) won't fix problem. Only solution which fix this problem is get batery out, remove and place SIM in socket and boot phone. Sometimes, I need to boot sistem like 5 times before it recognize SIM. Same SIM card work fine on other device. Also same happens on my Q10 with different SIM. Anyone have idea how to fix this problem?

Having the same problem. Purchased my Q10 SIM free from UK. Phone worked fine for 3 months and then for no obvious reason displayed SIM not detected Searching for network.
Checked my SIM (a micro-sim) in other phones. SIM Worked fine and detected.
Checked other SIM’s in my Q10. Other SIM’s detected with my Q10.
Tried again, but the Q10 just won’t detect my SIM.
Battery out, SIM out, wiped with dry cloth, blown on it, restarted, deleted old apps, deleted new apps, upgraded software, still no luck in recognising my SIM.
Then for no reason it flashes and asks for my SIM password. Phone works fine for a few hours and then suddenly SIM not detected again.
Forum research shows others have had the same problem but no answers have come to light. I carried out a security wipe and still no success in detecting the SIM. I gave the SIM another wipe with a soft cloth, this time it was detected but only for 10 minutes.
Restored back up. Still not working. Sent twitter message to BB support.

IPod touch sudden black screen, not detected by iTunes

I was using my iPod Touch yesterday & connected it to iTunes, it beeped like usual when it's plugged in, was lit up for no more than a second, then suddenly went black. I tried plugging it both into a wall outlet (using a USB converter) & back into my computer, & it was not detected.
I have tried holding down home+power for 10 seconds & just power for 10 seconds & it still isn't turning on or showing up in iTunes. Any ideas?

verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.

Thinkpad Edge S430 - Windows does not detect external display connected via HDMI

On a Thinkpad S430 with HD4000 integrated graphics, an external display connected via a HDMI cable is not detected at all when using Windows. The system is fully updated as of the time of posting this message, both via the Lenovo Update tool as well as Windows update.
The Intel driver version is 8.15.10.2696. It appears that this is the latest version, since it does not offer an update when I try to auto-update it via Device Manager.
NB: I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.4.0 on the same machine, and the external display works perfectly fine with this software configuration.
Hence I think that it's very likely that this is a Windows-specific driver issue.
Would Lenovo happen to have a driver update in the works? Alternatively, I will be thankful for any suggestions about possible resolution of this problem.

Before buying another adapter, I would just make sure that the system is fully up to date by means of drivers and BIOS. Here is the driver matrix for your machine, which lists all available updates for the system. Try downloading the latest versions for your devices and see if it helps.

Upon installation completion I was asked to restart the Laptop.
But upon windows boot, the mouse pad is not working. Only the red mouse is working .
I tried <Fn+F8>. It did not make a difference .
From this link I also installed: UltraNav Wizard for Windows 2000/XP".
When I ran the wizard I got the message:
thinkpad ultranav driver is not detected
In the device manager, under "Mice and other pointing devices", there is only PS/2 mouse.

Suddenly my phone's microSD card is not detected

I have a Nokia 6300 which i have been using for more than a year. Suddenly last week my phone stopped detecting the microSD card (128 mb) which came along with phone. I tried taking out & re-inserting but it didnt help. I have also tried accessing it through Nokia Browser through my laptop but that has also not helped... I tried inserting in another phone but there also it is not detecting.
Is it a virus attack? How can I make my phone detect the card?

It's certainly not a virus.
It sounds like your card has become damaged or corrupted.
Your only option for recovering data from this card is to use it in a card reader with a PC along with data recovery software.
You can find plenty of free recover software by searching google.
If the PC manages to read the card without any special software then it may be a hardware issue with the card reader in the phone.

Hp Pavilion is now not detecting the battery all of the sudden after 1 1/2 years.

My Hp Pavilion laptop is not detecting the battery. I can't seem to find information anywhere regarding how to resolve this issue. The battery was detected as of yesterday and was charging still at a "good" level. The battery Icon has an X and "No battery detected" .
Why does this happen and how to resolve it. I've tried taking off and on the battery several times as well as rebooting. NO luck!

adobe creative cloud desktop is not detecting my internet connection?

i connected with the adobe people through 'contact an agent'.
very helpful, they remote managed my desktop to fix the issue.
apparently something to do with permissions not activated for adobe, not sure how and why this happens though, or why it was fine earlier and suddenly stoppped.
they insisted it was to do with being on a wifi connection but that's not possible because i have my laptop right next to my desktop and that was working fine.
it took about four hours to fix though, so be patient!
