Suddenly unable to create ringtones, anyone else?

For those of you that weren't already aware of this...you can (or at least used to be able to) create your own ringtones without having to pay for them! But all of a sudden...I'm completely unable to do it. I don't know if I accidentaly changed a setting or something, but I'm dying to be able to create my own ringtones again!
The main problem occurs in the very first step...I'm able to set the start time perfectly fine...but it's the stop time that's not working. Let's say for instance that I wanted the song to start at :55 seconds and end at 1 minute 15 seconds. Well, for whatever reason...it isn't stopping at the 1 minute 15 seconds mark...it's making the song go 1 minute 15 seconds in length from the :55 second starting point. So instead of starting at :55 seconds and ending at 1 minute 55 seconds it's starting at :55 seconds and ending at 2:05!
Does anyone know a way around this or know of a setting I can change to fix this problem? This has never happened before and I'm starting to wonder if Apple finally got wise to this little trick and put a stop to it.

  • Why suddenly unable to create a disk image from a CD?

    I successfully created a disk image from a CD only 5 days ago. Now when I try to create a disk image from a CD (with Disk Utility) the Superdrive rumbles along for sveral minutes, while the progress bar indicates that it has reached the end of its progress.
    Only after all that does a dialog box indicate:
    "Unable to create "___.dmg"-Invalid Argument. "
    I haven't added software but did upgrade to iTunes 6. Doubtful that could affect my abilty to create a disk image.
    Would someone kindly shed some light on why this may be happening?

    Is it strange that this problem seems CD-specific?
    Some CDs are copy-protected and some CDs are not copy-protected; so, no, it's not strange at all that you should be able to copy some CDs and not be able to copy others.

    I just downloaded and bought a song from iTunes and wanted to create a ringtone from the song. It tells me "This song cannot be made into a ringtone". How do I go about this?
    If its not purchased from iTunes, it doesn't let me create a ringtone either..

    iTunes>Preferences> Check Tones and you will see A bell icon and Tones next to it added to your side menu list under apps!
    and make SURE you go into your iphone settings in your itunes and click on the Tones tab between Apps and Music. Activate that Tones check box and your good to go!

  • Unable to create ringtone from purchased song.

    Hi,
    I have a client that wants to create some ring tones. I looked up the steps to do this and tried it on his PC and it did not work for all purchased songs. When I click on the bell icon, it brought me to the help screen on creating the ringtone. On other songs it brought me to the right menu for actually creating the ringtone.
    If the song was purchased, why wouldn't it bring me to the correct menu?

    I understand that, but my understanding is that if a song has the Bell icon next to it, that the song is in fact eligible to be made into a ringtone. Its these songs that aren't working.

  • Anyone else have G5 1.8ghz having issues on network

    Just wondering if anyone is running a G5 1.8ghz on a network and having any issues? We have 122 of these and all are having issues with the network while other mac models are fine.
    Seems tied to the G5 hardware, 10.4 and our network. If I install 10.3.9 things work fine and if I setup a network on its own things work fine when running 10.4 on the G5's. Not sure what the issue is....I am being told nothing has changed on our network, but this issue seems to have cropped up all of a sudden.
    Just wondering if anyone else is seeing any issues?

    Well I kinda got a fix from an Apple SE......the fix was to create a file called rc.local in /etc and add to the contents of that rc.local file /sbin/sleep 10
    The G5's and Mac Mini's running 10.4.x were having issues on our network. On a restart or first boot of the day MCX settings from the server where not taking. Using sleep slowed the hardware down and left things get in order so things ran normal again.
    I have also seen a bug in 10.4.7 and back related to DNS not working correctly on bootup, I'm not sure if that tied to our issue or not.
    All of our 122 G5's are working normally once again and taking MCX settings from the server everytime now. Straightened out our Mac Mini's as well.
    I was being told it was our network, but 10.3.9 and other OS X releases work just fine. Its only tied to 10.4 thru 10.4.7 on certain hardware it seems.
    We have 867mhz Quicksilvers and iSight 20" iMacs that work fine without the tweak running 10.4.
    Very strange....atleast we are running ok now! Hopefully a fix can be implemented into 10.4.8 or soon in 10.4.x.

  • Unable to create new events in iCal

    I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS7, and now when I try to create a new event in iCal, nothing happens. I am able to tap the "+" and enter the event information, but when I tap "Done", no new event appears in the calendar.
    If I, instead, create the event in the Calendar on my PC, the phone syncs with Outlook, and the event appears on the phone's iCal app.
    Why am I suddenly unable to create new events on my phone in iOS7, and how can I fix this issue?

    For some reason I am suddenly unable to create folders in my Applications folder. Also, if I try to put anything into the Applications folder I am prompted to authorise. I don't know much about permissions in Unix but I have seen on some other threads that the following is required if I need some help:

    If you haven't updated yet, I suggest you install 10.5.2.
    If and only if the output of ls -le looks still the same as in your first post (please check that before doing anything!) you could try the following:
    Open a Terminal window and paste the following commands seperately (first line, Enter, second line, Enter and so on). The first command will ask you for a password.
    sudo chmod -a# 3 /Applications/
    sudo chmod -a# 2 /Applications/
    sudo chmod -a# 0 /Applications/
    sudo chmod 755 /Applications/
    sudo chown root:admin /Applications/
    This will change the permissions on your machine to the same permission set as I have on /Applications/.

    I don't know what you have installed in your Applications folder. This could adversely affect other applications on your system. In other words: There's no guarantee from my side.   • Unable to create PDF from website

    I am suddenly unable to create a PDF in Acrobat 9 Pro from a website without a gray overlay and an error message telling me the browser needs to be updated.  I'm attaching a pic of the error.  Is there a way to update the browser in Acrobat?  I have installed all available updates for my Acrobat version I can find.  I have also updated IE and receive the same error.

    The best I can tell is that it deals with Acrobat using an IE type interface. It did not have the background problem with AA8, but indeed it showed up in AA9. I do not have AAX to test that. Your options are to use PDF Maker from IE or other browser. From IE it worked without the background issue. The layout was different, but some scaling and such might resolve that issue. Printing seems to offer a better view. You likely only need a print, so I would suggest using the print function in your browser. The HTML of the site seems to recommend using a different browser than IE, so you might try FireFox.

  • Can't create iTunes acc! - Anyone else from Puerto Rico?- Cust Serv $uck$!

    I've been trying to create an account for iTunes, mostly to download the album artwork to my library. But I haven't been able because iTunes billing system will not recognize my credit card, giving me different error messages such as "information does not match with bank's records", "please give use a US issued credit card", "fields were omitted", etc. I've been trying to get some assistance from the customer service representatives but all they do is give me some canned messages and basically say that Puerto Rico is not a "state" of the USA and that we, Puerto Ricans, cannot download music from iTunes, even though I know a lot of people in Puerto Rico that can, with credit cards issued locally.
    If you are having the same problems, please post here to show them that it's not an isolated situation, even if you are not from Puerto Rico.
    This is my first post, so if I'm breaking any rules or anything similar, I would appreciate that you contact me so I get the chance to amend things.
    Here's a copy of all e-mail conversations so far with the customer service representatives, which proves that they aren't paying attention to the customer.

    What's up with you people? Stop using the same canned messages and read the whole conversation, PLEASE!
    That's almost the same answer Vanessa gave to my initial e-mail. Then, Andres apologized because Apple does consider Puerto Rico part of the United States and even includes Puerto Rico as a "state" in the fields of registration for MyInfo and iTunes.
    Puerto Rico is a territory of the USA and we, Puertorricans, are considered citizens and residents of the USA, so far that the same rates apply to the USPS Post Office, that we don't need to get through customs in domestic flights, that we don't needed a passport to get in and out of the USA until the new Patriot Act provision that started now on January 1st, 2007.
    Will someone really get to this and answer all my questions in their rightful way?
    So far the service seemed to be good because you were answering in a timely manner, but I just figured out that all you are doing is using canned messages and/or doing some "copy/paste" to your "concerned and dear customers".
    PLEASE get through with this and get me a complete answer.

    Thank you very much for going further in your review and reply to my initial concern.
    I was able to create an account through the MyInfo page. I was able to log in to iTunes, but it then asks me for my billing information. I'm trying to register two credit cards I have from a local bank. I was not able to register any of these. The system keeps telling me that the bank information is not the same as the one I entered. I tried several variations and none was accepted. I'm trying this with my bank statement on hand to match the information perfectly and I even called the bank to confirm if I have all the correct information, as in their systems, which they confirmed.
    It appears that iTunes will not accept my credit cards in any way, even with my bank assisting me with the different variation that iTunes may be asking for.
    Is there any way you may help me to register my credit card to my account? Because, after all, having an account created through the MyInfo page did little since I still can't download album artwork nor purchase music.
    On the other side, I tried using my Paypal account which is Verified and with a Confirmed address, but iTunes says that it cannot verify the account.
    It appears that iTunes has some kind of problem with accounts from Puerto Rico.

    Thank you very much for your reply to this concern, but this answer does not convince me since the iTunes registering page adds Puerto Rico as a "state" of the USA in the drop-in box / field, plus I know a lot of people here in Puerto Rico that have an account registered in iTunes with a credit card issued by a local bank that are able to make purchases.
    My main interest in having an iTunes account is being able to download the CD’s artwork, which, apparently, can only be done if I have an account registered in iTunes. As an option, is there any way to create an account without having "purchasing" privileges for this matter?
    I am really disappointed with the service and options restricted by Apple for this matter, specially when they have so many authorized dealers and resellers in Puerto Rico, which is not a "Channel Island" but a USA territory or property, with USA citizenship, with USA residency, USA currency, with USA post office, with USA customs, with USA courts, etc. Another question, since it was not offered as an option, if I buy iTunes gift cards, which I can buy almost anywhere here on the island, can I use it for purchasing purposes or would I not have this privilege because I live here?
    I would really appreciate further evaluation of this concern because I believe that I may indeed register at iTunes and make purchases being in Puerto Rico with a credit card from a local bank since, like I explained before, I know, personally (my brother, my brothers-in-law, etc.), a lot of people here in Puerto Rico that have an account registered in iTunes with a credit card issued by a local bank that are able to make purchases.

    To the previous user, thank you for anything you may do to help with this, but I understand that I clearly stated that I was not expecting help from a customer service representative but to get a number of people going to the same or a similar situation which may be later used as an example to Apple for them to work with this.
    Here's an update on what's being going on so far...
    Man, I am still NOT satisfied.
    I talked today with my bank regarding this situation and they told me that they have had several concerns with other customers about this and that they have done everything in their power before to make sure that iTunes works, accepting their credit cards, but that it's iTunes billing system the one with restrictions to accept these cards; in other words, that their cards are okay in their systems to be accepted by iTunes, but that iTunes refuse to accept them.
    I believe that either Apple is discriminating against Puerto Rican customers, Puerto Rican banks or they are just not willing to go the extra mile to solve this billing situation.
    So far it seems that you do not understand my principal need, which is downloading album artwork, not buying music.
    I just received my iPod and am hesitating to open it because of all of this.
    Again, service has been poor and attention to details worst.
    If there's nothing else you may do to help me, I would appreciate to be forwarded to a supervisor or manager or director to present them this concern.

    Greetings, and thank you for the help so far.
    Still, I am being unable to register my credit card. When I enter my VISA's security code (either of the two I have), which consists of three digits from the back of the card, the system gives me a message saying "Please enter a valid Security Code".
    I tried, just in case, to use a dummy security code, such as 123 or 000 or 999 and the system gives me a message saying "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable. Please try again later".
    It's funny and/or weird to me because I never get the message "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable..." when using my VISA's security code, nor I get the message "Please enter a valid Security Code" when using a dummy security code.
    What's up with that? Any further help you may provide me with this?

    I have examined your Apple ID, editing your address to the USPS standard format that iTunes requires.
    Here's how to access the iTunes Store using your Apple ID and your reset password:
    1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It's available free of charge from the Apple website at:

    2) Open iTunes.
    3) From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
    4) Click the Apple radio button, enter your Apple ID, "[email protected]" and the password "apple0107", and click Sign In.
    5) You will see a dialog saying this: "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information." Click Review and follow the onscreen instructions to sign in with the account.
    Here are a few things to keep in mind:
    - If you forget the password for your Apple ID, you can reset it via Apple's iForgot website:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
    - If you wish to change your Apple ID, visit Apple's My Info site at http://myinfo.apple.com and sign in with the current Apple ID. Note that if your Apple ID is a .Mac member name, you won't be able to change it.
    Should you continue to experience difficulty accessing or creating an iTunes Store account, please reply to this email with a detailed description of the problem as well as the exact text (if possible) of any error messages you receive.

    I am an activist when it comes to rip-offs and I intend to set up a group to pressure the Ausralian government to legislate to make all computer software producers to make all new software compatible with all old software AT NO COST to the user.
    I thought about that myself, but when it comes to Windows XP. It is peculiar that software companies get away with "selling" software that suddenly stops working properly. The problem with XP is of course an environmental one as well. There is a huge number of fully functional PCs that suddenly are no longer supported by Microsoft, and that are not powerful enough to take newer supported MS operating systems. What MS basically recommends people is to throw them away with a horrible cost for our environment.

    From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software,  play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.
