SUDOKU in JAVA  Plz Help

Hi
I want to develop a Java program to solve Sudoku puzzles
My program must be able to:
Read in a puzzle (from the predefined file format see below)
Display the unsolved puzzle
Solve the puzzle
Display the solved puzzle
File Format
The file consists of a number of integers.
The first integer signifies the size of the puzzle e.g. a 2 indicates a 4x4 puzzle, a 3 indicates a 9x9 puzzle, a 4 indicates a 16x16 puzzle and so on.
The remaining numbers are one integer for each square of the puzzle (e.g. 81 integers for a 9x9 puzzle) and should be read left to right and top row to bottom row. A zero means that the square is empty. A non-zero indicates the number in that square.

  • New to java, plz help

Well I'm not that new. I've been working with java for two years using jcreator in school. Its been great, we make lots of programs and run em and stuff. But the one thing we didn't learn is how to distribute the programs to other people. For instance, if I make a program to help with math homework......and I wanna give that to my friend........i'd hafta send em the source files and they'd hafta open it up in jcreator and run it........that seems kinda not good........how do u make it into an actual thing that I can click on and it runs like any normal program (exe?)

    Two bits of advice:
    1) Make sure you ask questions in a forum related to your problem.
    2) If you want to be taken seriously as a professional, drop the MS IM Speak and use the language of the forum. In this forum it is English, which is successfully used by many people for whom English is far from their native language.

You are making little sense. You can't instantiate .java files.

  • PLz Help New To Java

Hey im brand new to java and i just downloaded and installed jdk-1_5_0_01-windows-i586-p now im tryin to set up the PATH permanently but i have no clue how to i went to the install notes and typed in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_<windows>\bin in the command.com but everytime i do it says access is denied. i have no clue how to set up the path permanently beside what i tried plz help!!!

You didn't which OS you are running, but it's fairly similar for all windows.
    Start->settings->control panel->system->advanced->environment variables
Go to System variables, click on path, click edit button and add a semicolon and the path at the end. DO NOT REPLACE EVERYTHING THAT'S THERE NOW.
I don't have 1.5 installed on this computer, but I'm willing to bet the real path doesn't have '<windows>' in it. Use Windows Explorer to find out where java.exe actually exists on the hard disk and use that path

  • Plz help with a java app

    Dear experts,
I have a java application in form of a running thread that periodically does an activity ie running a BAPI in
SAP.I like to schedule this application at evening time.
Problem is that incase somebody remotely login to this Windows server using RDP and leave an open RDP session,
two instance starts one on RDP and other on console.
Now to overcome this problem i devised a solution myself that incase application detects session is remote
then it should exit itself. This is mentioned in forum undergiven.
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5410674&messageID=10835701#10835701
My perception behind carrying out this development was that incase session starts in remote then
app will automatically close and finally letting running only in console.
Now what happens is that scheduled task doesnot start at all on console ,incase console as well as RDP are open.
Instead it starts only on RDP failing instantly. So in nutshell, task doesnot start at all.My app log say that
service tried to open in remote session and got closed.Plz help as i have no way out.
My second question is that if i schedule task using RDP on remote server, will it run on Remote, console or both
    of them.
    Regards,
    Aditya.

    Adi1000 wrote:
My app also generates a .lock file and make sure that only one instance is running.Still problem remains unresolvedAnd combining your other thread with the word "also" from this post just exacerbates your "problem". Also, the "lock" file was not to prevent two simulteneous runs (that leads to very distasteful race condition), but rather to prevent two runs within a set period of time when combined with the ServerSocket approach to prevent simulteneous runs.

  • Error in variables, plz help me

I created a variable del_var.The sql query assosiated with this variable is.
    Delete from schema.file_name_table where rownum=1;
After refreshing it.it is deleting first row in the table. But it is resulting in an error
    "17003 : null : java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column index "
    Plz help me

    Hi,
You can't use a 'Delete" command at a refreshing variable because at a refresch the variable need to receive a value back and the delete doesn't return value.
    Change the command to "select....."
Does it make sense to you?

  • Refreshing JEditorPane (Urgent) plz help

    hello programmers,
    i'm building an html editor:
My html editor has a split pane, the 2 pane got of the split pane are JEditorPanes, one on which i write tag and the other i display them,... thankfully all's working great, my syntax is highlighting and the html is displayed well but i've got the following problem:
when i save a html page , i wanna my browser (on the right side of the slipt pane) to display the html page... it's ok .. it displays it with the method JHTMLEditorPane.setPage(file:/// directory/ file) but the problem is that when i save the page again using the same filename... my html page on the JHTMLEditorPane stays the same... it does not update...
is their a refresh function for the JEditorPane? how can i update my JHTMLPane to reflect the changes i've brought to it? ONe thing , the page changes when i save it by aother file name..... PLz help it's very urgent!!!!!!!
    Bernard

Have you tried to close and then re-open the file in your editorpane after you've saved?
It will work when you change the name because it has to open the file as new. Java can't dynamically update values upon files like C does with pointers.
