Suggest an external BT model?

Hello,
I am purchasing a new mac pro tower next week. I want to take my old Power PC G-5(running leopard) and network them together and also hook up my old G5 to my HD television so i can surf the internet.
My old G5 doesnt have blue tooth hardware. Anyone suggest an external usb blue tooth device? one that works well.
I want to use a wireless keyboard and mouse from my couch while surfing.

The only external USB Bluetooth Adapter recommended and supported by Apple is the D-Link DBT-120.
For keyboards & mice: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86495
For headsets: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107860
About different revisions: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305044
To get an adapter which is Rev B2 or later but earlier then Rev C1 to be fully compatible with all features you may have to resort to eBay.

  • Looking for a Suggestion on Protege Notebook Model

    Hi,
I might have posted this in the wrong forum, if that is the case then please accept my apologies for the same.
I am looking to buy a new ultrabook. I am looking for the following specs:
    Price: Around USD800
Screen Size: 13.3" (This is important as there are weight considerations and hence cannot go for any bigger screen)
Screen should be easily tilted to 180 degrees since I have a small kid who could pull the screen back (I hope you people understand what I am asking for, this feature is not listed in any datasheet of Toshiba Notebooks)
    RAM Installed: 4GB (min)
RAM Maximum: 8GB (min) (I should have the option for upgrading the RAM later to 8GB minimum, more the better)
Weight: 3 lbs (or there about)
    DVD-ROM: Not NEEDED
HDD: Would like to have a SSD with 256GB but given the price, I guess I have to settle with the normal HDD. But it would be great if I could upgrade later this HDD to a SSD.
    Keyboard: Backlit and SPILLPROOF
Now I have kind of short listed some of the models and would love to hear the advise of the techies here.
    Model 1:
    Portege R935-ST3N02
    Link for Datasheet: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/portege_R935-ST3N02.pdf
Questions in my mind regarding this notebook:
Will the screen be tilted back to 180 degrees, cannot find this information anywhere.
The maximum RAM shown is 8GB but since this device has 2 memory slots, then wouldn't it be possible to have 16GB as the max RAM with 8GB card in each slot.
HDD = 750GB but later would I be able to upgrade to a SSD Harddisk or not, to reduce the weight even more later.
Keyboard: Is the keyboard SPILLPROOF and Backlit?
    Model 2:
    Portege Z935-ST3N02
    Link for Datasheet: http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/portege_Z935-ST3N02.pdf
Max RAM is only 6GB (is there a way to upgrade to 8GB)
SSD: Can I later upgrade to a higher capacity SSD like 512GB if an when they get cheaper, I know it should be possible but wanted to ask anyhow?
    Model 3:
I am comparing these 2 models against THINKPAD X230.
Any suggestions and enlightening thoughts on my above questions would be deeply appreciated.

Please just let me know if the screen can be tilted to 180 degrees in Portege R935-ST3N02

  • Suggest an external optical drive?

My iMac's (21.5 inch) optical drive is just about useless, especially when it comes to transferring files from discs onto my computer, taking as long as 30 minutes for 4gb of information. My girlfriend's iMac (24 inch) optical drive is completely broken and can not read, write, or recognize discs, and once one is put in it usually takes an act of congress to get it out.
Both of us are looking for a good, yet affordable external optical drive. I have been browsing stuff online at Best Buy but noticed all of them only list "windows" in the specification box. Are they still compatible with Mac?
Are there any "good" ones anyone can suggest that I can actually buy in person at a store such as Best Buy or Walmart? I have noticed a lot of people suggesting LaCie but I would really prefer to buy in person than over the internet.

I've never used an external optical drive, but a person I know who wore out the internal optical drive in his iMac replaced it with a LaCie. This person puts in lots of hours burning disks and he's very satisfied with the LaCie.
An Apple Store may carry them but I don't know for sure. I know some Apple Stores carry LaCie peripheral hard drives.

    Steve M.

  • BPEL Import of external created models - any detailed documentation?

    Hi,
I want to import a BPEL into an Integration Process in XI that I have created with an external modellinbg program.
And (think roundtrip) I want to export BPEL from XI and import it into an external modeller.
Where to start? Can someone point me to something like a language reference, how SAP is handling BPEL? Or is it a 1:1 implementation with no SAP specifica?
    Any help is awarded
    ths
    holger

<i>Is there a "SAP reference guide of BPEL implementation" ?</i>
As far as i know, such a guide is not provided by SAP. And there should be a reason for that. SAP is moving towards open standards and as one of its initiatives, it has started using BPEL because it is an open standard based technique. Thats why BPEL developed in other applications are also supported in XI. e.g. ARIS

  • Suggestion on External Tables

    Hi,
I have a issue which i couldnt figure out how to do.... Actually its a VBA issue now that i cant figure out how to slove it i have do it other way around...
Firstly i will say what the VBA code is and its problem so you can suggest me in better way...
We have a macro that takes 2 excel files(lets call excel1 and excel2) compare each to database. for each excel it creates a new excle( excel11 and excel22) which contains the difference of the comparision. Then it compares these 2 excels(excel11 and excel22) and creates a new excel(diffexcel1122). I need all the 3 excels ( excel11, excel22, diffexcel1122).
This was working very fine till we upgraded the system to windows XP with office 2003. Now also it works fine but out of 5 times atleast 2 times it gives an error
Error -2147417848: The object invoked has disconnected from its clients
and i excatly dont know how to comeover it... i asked few .net people who asked me to upgrade my system to SP3... which is not possible. (If anyone know how to overcome it let me know)
So now i have to do it other way round... and i am thinking to do it in PL/SQL as i am oracle developer (though i am new).
I have written lot of Utl_file procedures but i have never used external tables which i want to use now. I can convert the excel files into .CSV files and have them on same server as database is.
Can anyone say me how many external tables i have to create.. it should all be in one single storedprocedure for which i have to write unix code(which will call the procedure and here i will provide the .cvs file names) I know its going around but i dont have anyother option... either i to eleminate that error in VBA or do it in PL/SQL and UNIX....
Someone please suggest me steps i have to follow so i can do it successfully...
    Thanks!
    Sree

Mmm... on much batteling with my self i have started writing code for my process...
I was just trying to read the .csv and write a small peice of it into a new .cvs file...
The issue i am having is with data... the columns in excel are not of same length so when they are converted into CSV they are kind of irreglar...
this is what i am trying to do....
sample of .csv file(when i see the file i see small boxes in between the data not space like you are seeing)

  • How can I connect an old external FDD Model# M0130 ?

I have an original Macintosh 128k with an external FDD DB-19 connection. Now I have 400k diskettes and I would like to get the files from these diskettes. Is there a way to connect this old External FDD that has an db-19 connection to a Quadra 650 or Powerpc 7600 so that I can get the files from the diskettes.
Or is there another way to be able to access these 400k diskettes from a Quadra 650 or PowerPc 7600.

400 KB diskettes are physically readable in any Apple 800 KB or combination 800KB/1.44 MB diskette drive. 400 KB diskettes are double density (2D or 2DD) media, but are written one one side only.
Support for 400 KB MFS diskettes was removed from the System Software at System 8.0, when HFS+ Extended was first introduced (but not made active until 8.1).
So you need an older Mac, like your Quadra 650, running Mac OS before Mac OS 8.
Do not try to fool the drive by using HD media -- the oxide is different, and the data will decay and become unreadable in a matter of a few minutes. Both types of diskettes are still available from the catalogs of major office supply retailers.

  • Need some suggestion for Demantra Shape modeling

    Hi All
Can any one sugesst me how to create a Demantra Shape modeling using 7.2 version. I am working on a POC which includes shape modeling.
    Thanks

    Kim,
Tttt yyyy pppp iii nnn gggg slowly.
You described your situation quite clearly.
As you probably know the digital inputs on the USB-6008/9 are software timed, so you have some uncertainty in the time of any sample.  Depending on your OS that uncertainty will typically be on the order of a few milliseconds but occasionally may be much longer.
To count the pulses in software requires a combination of several things.
    1. You need to have a data acquisition method which is fast enough to capture each high and low state of the pulses produced by the pump.  For software timed Digital Input a good way to do this is to have an independent, parallel loop which reads the input line rapidly and passes the data or transitions to another loop via a queue.  This is known as the Producer loop in a Producer/Consumer architecture.  Examples come with labVIEW. A 10 ms Wait in the loop is probably appropriate.
    2. You need to convert the digital inputs (levels) into pulses or transitions to be counted.  Suppose you want to increase the count by one every time the logical level changes from False to True. To do this you need to know the previous level and the current level. A shift register is one of the best ways to do this in LV.  Add a shift register to the loop.  Initialize it to False. Connect the result of the Digital Read to the right terminal of the shift regsiter inside the loop.  When that Read is True and the previous value (obtained from the left terminal of the shift register) is False, increment the count value (which is also kept in a shift register) in the case structure.
    3. You did not indicate what you are doing with the counts or what the pulses represent.  Do you need to measure the frequency (or the period which is the reciprocal of the frequency)?  Do you need to accumulate the number of pulses? Over what time period?

  • Some Bugs and Enhancement Suggestions for Offline DB models

I really like the way that this area of JDeveloper is shaping up, but I have a couple of bugs and few suggestions for enhancements.
    Bugs,
    1) when adding an index to a table, you can't edit the index name. If the generated name is too long, it doesn't allow you to create the index.
    2) When adding columns to an index, there is no LOV of columns so you have to manually type each one. It always defaults to the ?first column of the primary key? which seems odd.
    A few enhancement suggestions:
    1) on tables and columns it would be very helpful to be able to also have a logical name as well as a physical name
    2) if we have a logical name, it would be then very helpful to be able to set the display properties to show the logical vs. physical table and column names
    3) Tablespace objects. I would be okay if they were just the logical object (not necessarily generate DDL to create them). If I could use them as part of the table and index definitions.
    4) Table partitioning.
    5) Packages on a DB Diagram. Just for the documentation purpose of visually displaying all objects in an application.
    6) Ability to create views based on synonyms. Currently, it only allows to pick a table or view.
Just a few items that I have encountered trying to design a full application in JDeveloper.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Gary,
thanks. I filed the enhancement request and bug based on your description

The answer depends upon what you're looking for, speed, convenience, reliability, backups, etc.  I would suggest that you take a look at the article from Adobe on optimizing the performance of Photoshop and then make your decision as to just what configuration you will want.  That will drive your choice of storage.
At the bottom of the article, under additional links, you will find a short concise blog entry from John Nack that is worth reading, too.

  • Suggestions on external DVD burners for Mac

Last one I had was a Mad Dog multimedia burner which I paid about $140 about 6 months ago, the puppy had a freak accident and got in soapy water don't ask how.
What I'm trying to find is a burner in the $100 mark, any suggestions?

I strongly recommend http://www.macsales.com/ Firewire burners. They are the only ones that out of the box are compatible with iDVD, and Apple's other DVD burning applications. Others may need http://www.patchburn.de/ and specific firmware updates to be compatible. Some of these are outlined in the website:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/
It wasn't until the Intel Macs, that USB became bootable for Mac OS X.
