I am working as a BASIS consultant and i have got 2yrs exp in this field i would like to learn either XI or BW , i am bit confused between these two. so kindly suggest me one among them so that my exp in basis consulting should help me for my carrier further.

First of all, let me tell you that Basis are one of the highly paid professionals.
Still if you are interested to learm something new like XI, BI..There is no problem for people who have an appetite for learning new things.
Pre-Requisites for XI would be Basic Java and ABAP knowledge which would grow deeper when you are into the depth.Moreover even if you dont know these, you will eventually get knowledge once you begin.
As far as BI is concerned, no such pre requisite is there.But you say you are aware with Data Warehousing concepts that will be helpful in BI.
Choice is all yours!!

I am a J2EE developer, for the time being I work at a Commercial Bank as an enterprise application developer. I have learnt java when I was following a local IT diploma and with the help of books, works at my working place and the internet , today I am developing J2EE applications with JSP,Servlets,JSF2.0,EJB3.0 and third party JSF libraries etc. (I am also developing softwares using other programing languages such as Asp.net, C#.net, WPF etc, but I prefer to be in the java path). Other than that, I'm also working as the UI designer of most of our applications.
I have those skills and practice after working for 4 years as a web/enterprise application developer & a UI designer, but now I have to focus on some paper qualifications and hence I am doing BCS.
Now I want to be a java professional in Oracle's path, and I need to know what is the best path I can select to move with Oracle. I finished my classes of SCJP , but didn't do the exams as there were some rumors that Oracle will dump those exams in the future. I am interested in Oracle university, but I am unable to even think about it as I live in Sri Lanka and don't have that much of financial wealth to go USA and join.
So I really appreciate if any Oracle professional could suggest me the best educational path according to what I mentioned about my technical and career background. Because I have a dream to join Oracle one day as an employee and being a good contributer to the same forum, which I am getting helps today!

Suggestions about the best tool for quality check for an ADF application

Hi All,
I need a few suggestions about the best tool for quality check in our ADF applicaiton.
ours is a small size WebCenter Portal application which neither uses any task flows nor consumes any portlets.
It has many jspx pages that use ADF components like table etc, consume web services using web service clients, and has some java classes.
We have come across below option to implement the code quality tools.
1. Jdeveloper inbuilt Staus option in View tab
2. PMD extension for Jdeveloper
3. Red Samurai
Few more suggestions or best practices would be really helpful.

Are the photos in iPhoto?
If they are, you can simply copy your iPhoto Library (located in your Pictures folder) to a thumb drive or external drive and then copy it over to your other Mac. This will only work if the iMac has the same version (or later version) of iPhoto as does the Macbook Air. Then on the iMac, if you want to combine this new library with the existing one over there, use iPhoto Library Manager (a free download program).
If you want to copy over only a portion of that iPhoto library, iPhoto Library Manager can create a smaller library containing just the photos you want to include. Then copy that smaller library.

PB12.5 Classic - What is the best path to interface with MS Outlook

I am sure this topic has been covered but darn if I can find anything on it.
My client is moving over to MS Outlook. Not sure at this point if its going to be just an exchange server or outlook 365. I am trying to figure out what the best path would be to interface to it.
Using: PowerBuilder 12.5 Classic (no access to vb development)
What functionality is needed...
Need to be able to access emails including attachments. Need to have option to send in HTML format so MAPI connection may not be feasible.
Need to have access to the calendar to view/edit meetings/appointments including viewing users availability (Busy search).
     Must also be able to know if users accept/reject meeting requests.
Looking for the best direction... use exchange web service api.... smtp...ole...etc..
Was directed to look into using Exchange Web Services managed API but unfortunately not able to figure out how to connect to it using PB12.5 classic, all examples I can find use C# or VB.
Note: The application that would run this runs on PC's and thin clients.
If there is a best direction could someone point me to some sample code/tutorial/whitepaper etc.. on how best to proceed it would be greatly appreciated.

I also have an EMailSMTP example that can be used to send email. Now that we have switched to Outlook365 we started having sporadic issues. Now we used the paid version of the SMTP control at AspEmail.com - Free Secure ASP Mail Component for an ASP and ASP.NET Environment.
The paid version is required for TLS secure connections. Since PB is 32bit, make sure you use the 32bit version.

I recommend you install nothing older than the Apple-firware 5770, about US$250.

If you know how to use struts and portlets, you wouldn't be asking this question. I suggest looking into the Model-View Controller pattern to get an idea how to set up a web application, then think about how to do it in a portlet environment.

It is hard, (though obviosly not impossible), for other institutions to better this standard of such courses.
If you are aspiring to Oracle DBA OCP be very sure the institute you are choosing satisifies the requirements for the Hands on Course, and do not take the institutes word for it but check.
It may well be that you are looking for institutions offering the WDP programme. This is a maximm of 6 hours/week over several weeks so IMHO is impractical if you do not live nearby. There appear to be comments that sometimes the training from these institutes doing the WDP course can be of very variable quality. Probably the only option here is to seek out the opinions of recent psat students you can trust.

For this purpose, I'd think pretty much ANYthing would be suitable. How about this - get the timestamp for the time you want the eval to expire, and XOR the bits into the MD5 hash of your application's name. Reverse on the client side.
Can your clients undo this? Yes. Of course, if you use "real" crypto and bury a key in your app, they're just going to spend the 15 minutes it will take to dig that key out and make their own timebombs. If you use something like RSA, with the public-key in the client and a license that was encrypted with the private key, they'll just modify your app to disable the license check entirely. They may do both, just because they can.
What you want is something that will be dead easy to implement and maintain for you, and mildly painful for your clients to undo. You hit diminishing returns almost immediately after that point.

If you have a sponsorship, I would recommend taking classes with Oracle University. The other resources are documentation, functional and technical depending on what your interests are.
If you can load Vision database or access vision database (I think solutionbeacon offers a free account to login and play around), that will be another resource as well.
As you learn, join as much user groups like this one, and review all questions and answers in the discussions to understand and learn more.

There is no 3S. Do you mean 3GS?
As for the songs, they should be in the music library of itunes that you use when syncing with the computer. If not, sync the 3GS to itunes and be sure purchased items are synced to the computer. Then sync from iTunes to the 4S.

Forgive my ignorance on this issue.
I am thinking about creating a number of large banners (8 feet high by 3 feet wide) for a display.
I would like to take some scanned images of some historical mural paintings (out of copyright) and prepare them for large format printing.
Now these images are small, and probably quite poor in resolution. I would like to prepare (enhance?) these images so that they show fairly well on the large banners.
Furthermore, I will probably add some borders around them or at least some kind of neutral-colour field on the top and bottom of the image--so the actually printed image will probably be around 4 feet fight by 3 feet wide.
I thought about hiring a designer, but I would like to pick up the skills to do this myself, as I anticipate more banners in the future, and it would be good to learn this skill.
Willing to do take some courses in the appropriate software, and make this my first project perhaps.
Is Illustrator or Photoshop better for this? Or is there something else?

You may look at it this way (literally):
The crucial aspect is the relation between viewing distance and size.
The required number of actual pixels is proportional to the actual size and reversely proportional to the viewing distance.
In other words: if you look at a poster (or whatever) twice the size at twice the distance, exactly the same number of pixels is required.
In yet other words: if you view the artwork at a combination of size and distance that correspond to those intended for the final poster, you can see how it will appear.
In yet other words: the same proportion between size and distance results in the same viewing angle, so if your viewing angle is the same, whatever the size, you see what the final viewer sees.
This means that you may judge the artwork on screen or in small/moderate size print if you view it at the intended angle/relative distance.
The required resolution in PPI/DPI will then be reversely proportional to the size of the artwork while you work on it (10 times greater for a 1:10 scale and so on).
Obviosly, in addition, there are other concerns about required resolution (including which resolution is really effective in connexion with the kind of printing in question, and the desirability of smoothness versus roughness which depends on the artwork/effect/whatever in question). I believe you know all that.
