Suggested IOS for 1532i Wireless Bridge

Hello all,
I'm currently running IOS version 15.2.4-JB3b(ED) for two autonomous point-to-point bridges.  I'm having difficulty getting one of the bridges to stop flapping and autonegotiating at 10/full.  The other side seems to be stable and will autonegotiate at 1000/full.  I've had a 2nd cable run installed and terminated.  I've tried rebooting both the power injector and the bridge in question.  I've tried setting the switch port and bridge to 1000/full statically.  But all my attempts to resolve this issue has failed.  I'm not sure if this version of IOS for the 1532s are buggy but can someone point me to which IOS has been stable for them?  Thanks!
Regards,
Terence

Hi Terrence,
Did you try this one ? It is released when 8.0 came out & worth trying.

  • "Restart Now" IOS command for 1310 Wireless Bridge

I have 2 Cisco Aironet 1310 wireless bridges setup, line-of-sight, 3/4 mile apart, one as Root, the other as Non-Root.  Occasionally they drop their connection but a hard restart of either or both bridges will reestablish the connection.  What is the equivalent IOS command to the
"GUI > System Software > System Configuration > Restart Now" command?  I would like to be able to telnet to either/both units and issue/script the appropriate command.

    the command is "reload"

  • 1532i Wireless Bridge Confusion (CAPWAP)

I'm working on setting up a wireless bridge between two buildings that currently are connected via fiber.  The fiber needs to be pulled back and re-run so we want to use the bridge as the L2 trunk while that work is being done.  Right now I'm labing up the two 1532i's we will be using for the project and am running into some snags.  These APs are CAPWAP, connect to the controller fine, and (finally) are able to see each other, but not pass traffic.  I've got one of them connected to a test switch that I can remove from the rest of the network to validate the mesh bridge comes up, the other is in my main switch stack.
The issue I'm having trouble with is the VLAN tagging.  I've set the native vlan on the AP (under the AP's mesh tab) to that of the primary data VLAN (700) and have allowed a few other VLANs to pass (705 and 706).  I've configured the switch uplinks to the APs as trunks - this is where I'm having a hard time.  The documentation says that I need to have the trunk's native VLAN be 1 (i.e. no native vlan) - the issue is when I do this, my RAP loses connection to the wireless controller because it's BVI is not tagging the packets (I believe) for VLAN 700 and we don't use VLAN 1.  If I set "switchport trunk native vlan 700" on the switch trunk interface, all is well but I get a ton of spanning-tree errors on my switch.
I know the solution is going to be a simple oversight, but MAN am I stumped.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I found that the issue is that I had the APs on the same VLAN that my user / device data was using.  I found out this needs to be a "management" type VLAN as it won't pass traffic, only connects the devices.  Once I changed the native VLAN off my user network and allowed that network though, all was working as expected.

  • Power Injector for 1310 wireless bridge

    Hello,
We have a failed power injector on a 1310 series bridge. Will the "Power Injector LR" from a 1410 series bridge work on the 1310?
    Thank you,
    Matt

No... both have a different output and should not be used interchangeably.

  • Wireless Bridge by Aironet 3700i

I'd like to connect two network by using two Aironet 3700i APs like
    NW1 -- AP1 -- AP2 -- NW2
I want to confirm that this is possible by simply setting AP1 = Root Bridge and AP2 = Non-Root Bridge.
I also want to confirm that this is possible even when AP2&NW2 are moving and connect to AP1 temporarily.

When you configure AP2 as workgroup bridge, then it will act as a wireless client. So it will associate to any normal AP (other AP no need to be the root bridge). Also you can modify the roaming behaviour so it will roam to different AP like any other client when moving. You can refer this to configuration options available on this
    http://mrncciew.com/2013/07/24/wgb-roaming-part-1/
You can configure multiple vlan with WGB & you can refer below for that
    http://mrncciew.com/2013/06/16/ios-ap-wgb-with-multiple-vlan/
If it is does not require that sort of roaming & always you will align with AP1 then you can configure it as Root Bridge & Non-Root-Bridge. Here is a reference configs for a wireless bridge

  • Wireless bridge supporting igmp

Has anybody got suggestions for a wireless bridge I can use on my youview setup.
Tried a few 18 months ago, iplayer and nowtv worked but not IP channels.
At the time I suspected it was down to incorrect igmp routing, my powerline setup is becoming problematic so I'm returning to a wireless solution
Does anyone have a confirmed working wireless solution with ALL the ip facilities of youview including premium IP channels?
My router is an older style bt homehub
    Ta
    Steve

the reason why this doesnt work is that a BT HH3 doesnt pass IGMP/multicast packets onto the wireless AP.
The supposed reason being that multicast could swamp the wireless network.
It doesnt matter what client one uses, if IGMP packets arent passed to the wireless AP (by the router) then would wont be able to use youview wirelessly.
by "use" I mean IPTV multicast channels (essentials BT sport etc) NOT iplayer of nowtv.
anybody claiming to have IPTV channels working with a HH3 over wirelss is telling porkies, unless they know something that I dont.

  • Building wireless bridge using e3000 and wrt160n with wap54g as acess point between two

I recently purchased an e3000 router and would like to setup my old wrt160n nextdoor for my brother to access my network for Xbox 360 and internet.  How do I set up the wrt160n so that he can access my network?  I have a wap54g that worked great with his computer and wireless nic card with antenna.  With the Xbox 360 added he needs a router to connect both. Will reconfiguring the wrt160n work if so how do you do it?  Everything else in my home is hard wired except a printer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried setting this wireless network bridge as suggested by oook and It doesn't work.  Would anyone have any suggestion  as to how to do this. every diagram that I have seen shows a connection such as this being done between two WAPs.  Since the WAP I currently have is rather difficult to find.  I would like To know which of these Items would be The best to go with to do what I want to do.  The WAP610n or the WET610n or a combination of both? From What little info I have been able to find the WET610n will expand the range of my e3000 into other areas of a home. Will this do it For a wireless bridge between to homes that are about 500 feet apart? Is the WAP610 the better product since it is a WAP? I am getting very frustrated with this. I think I need to boost the signal from my end and be able to capture it at the other end. Just not sure how to do this without having to invest hundreds of dollars to do it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated as well as any reply to this post.

  • Wireless Bridge Solution

    Hello,
I am looking for a wireless Bridge Solution the distance between 2 buildings is 200 Metre approx and the height of the buildings are 24 metres. The desired bandwidth is 11 Mbps and above.
Please help me in finalizing the solution. I am looking for a cheap solution other than 1300, 1400 or 1500 solution.
    Regards..

You can always use a 1242 in bridge mode with external antennas. You will need a NEMA heated/cooled enclosure for the ap unless that will be mounted indoors, lightning arrestor and LMR cable to extend the antenna if required and antenna mounting hardware. But with most systems, you will need line of site, so hopefully you have this. Antenna wise, you can go with a yagi at both ends.

  • Using the Mac as a wireless Bridge for the Xbox 360

Want to use your Mac essentially as a wireless adapter for an Xbox 360 or any console? plug in the ethernet cable between the two devices and follow the setup process!
    Wireless Bridge setup process
    1. Open system Preferences.
    2. Clisk sharing, then the internet tab and select Airport as the “share your connection from” then select the Built-in Ethernet in the list.
    3. Open up the terminal Application and type ifconfig en0 in the window it sohuld display an outcome like this
    ifconfig en0
    en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
    inet 192.168.2.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.2.255
    ether 00:16:cb:cc:80:aa
    media: autoselect status: inactive
    supported media: autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,flow-control> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 100baseTX <full-duplex,flow-control> 1000baseT <full-duplex> 1000baseT <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control> none
    4. This gives you the information of what your computer’s IP address is. On the xbox dashboard in the network setup screen select manual and select the top section which contains the IP address, subnet mask, and Gateway address, for the IP address, input the Highlighted section above plus one, so its 192.168.2.1 (this is for standard configurations, again, just add one to the last digit of your IP address.
    5. Open Airport Admin Utility, the select configure on your airport. Then select the Internet tab This will give you your subnet Mask, input accordingly.
    6. For the Gateway address, you are going to put in the value in the blue box. This is because you are using your Computer as a gateway, therefor you need to tap into its connection.
So For the Average setup you will use:
    IP Address: 192.168.2.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway Address: 192.168.2.1
    7. Now for the DNS server, this varies according to What internet service you have, but, Airport admin utility provides the answer, right below the information we used above, you will see DNS Server. viola! Put that in as your primary DNS server in the second box of edit options in the network menu.
Now you should be complete, test the connection and you should be Ready to Go!! Happy Gaming!

    Welcome to the discussions, DanSwiggsD!
If you have a non-Apple device as your main router, unfortunately the AirPort Extreme has almost no chance of compatibility with your main router.
If you do have an Apple router as your main device, please post back with your model number and we'll let you know how your devices should be configured.
If you don't have an Apple device as your main router you have a few options to connect the xbox:
    1) A pair of ethernet powerline adapters could be used if you did not want to run a regular ethernet cable from your main router to the xbox.
    2) The new AirPort Express 802.11n model does have a feature called Proxy STA which should allow it to receive a wireless signal from any wireless router and allow the ethernet port to be enabled.

  • Can I use a WRT54GX2 as wireless bridge for my Blue Ray to an E1000 wireless router?

I recently replaced my WRT54GX2 router with an E1000 for networking in my home.  I now have a Blu-Ray disk player, and thought I may be able to use the old WRT54GX2 to wirelessly bridge a network connection for the Blu-Ray.  I am having trouble fignuring out how to configure it, if possible at all.  Any help would be appreciated

A WRT and a E1000 are wireless routers, i.e. router with an integrated wireless access points. They accept client connections. They don't connect to other access points. They always require a wired connection to your main network.
Running a wire is the best solution anyway, in particular for video streaming and similar.

  • Need Help using WRT54GL as Wireless Bridge for Xbox

    Hi.
I need help configuring my WRT54GL as a wireless bridge for my xbox.
I have a Billion BiPAC 7404VGO currently in service as my main router/modem. i.e. I have my ADSL connection and PC connected to this. I also connect to this with a laptop.
I have an original xbox at the other end of the house (cat5 NOT an option).
Basically I want to connect my xbox to the rest of network. I have a WRT54GL I can use for this. I just dont know how to set it up.
The WRT54GL has Firmware Version: v4.30.7 (out of the box).
My Wireless network is using WPA.
I have a VPN setup through to work via the Billion.
The idea is to stream media from my PC to the xbox (media centre).
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

A wireless router is a device which requires its own wired internet connection. A wireless router is not a wireless access point like the Linksys WAPs. A wireless router does not connect wireless to other wireless routers/APs with standard Linksys firmware. With Linksys firmware you need a WAP54G or similar. The WAPs support wireless bridging and repeater mode.
If you already have a WRT54GL then you have to install a 3rd party firmware which adds wireless bridging capabilities. Read the wikipedia article on "WRT54G" for information about which WRT models support 3rd party firmware and an overview of projects and links.
Remember, however, that you may brick your router if you install a 3rd party firmware incorrectly and you probably void the warranty if you install 3rd party firmware (it is even possible to find out after you restore the original Linksys firmware if you don't clear the NVRAM before).

  • Workaround for lack of wireless bridge mode on WRT110

okay, so after reading that I don't have a wireless bridge mode on my WRT110, I'm looking for a way to pass dhcp addresses through my linksys router.. Is there a way to do this?
My setup is modem(cable) -> ASA 5505 (Cisco firewall appliance with 8 switchports) -> WRT110 -> wireless clients (iPhone, laptop, etc).
Right now I have two internal networks (all the wireline devices plugged into my ASA and my wireless clients off my WRT110).
reason: I have a application on my iPhone that needs to be on the same network as my home computer. I know I could just plug my home computer into my WRT110, but trying to find a way to keep all wireline clients on my ASA 5505 switchports. Thoughts? Would a ip helper address work on a WRT110?
    Thanks in advance

Well as your WRT110 will be your secondary router, Well you can set your Linksys Router ( WRT110 and ASA 5505) Cisco Router in the same network.
Click Here to Configure Two Router to each other.

  • Wireless Bridge for gaming

I am using an Airport Express to create a wireless network in my home, with WPA/WPA2 encryption.
I would like to buy a wireless bridge so I can connect to the internet on my Playstation 2 and play games.
Does anyone know of a good wireless bridge for this purpose? One that can be used with WPA/WPA2 encryption.

    What is your router brand?
I believe some router can be tweak using its web based interface to dedicated bandwidth for gaming.
Are you using wireless for gaming, maybe if you step up to N protocol, it might help you too. But you have to get wireleen N router and have macbook that capable with wireless N protocol.
If you using wired online gaming, consider one with gigabit port.
    Good Luck
