Suggestion: calendar icon shows number of events that day.

I apologize if something like this has been posted before... But I think calendar should display the little red number bubble indicating any number of calendar events on that day, _much like mail and the app store show the little number indicating messages and number of updates_. I don't like setting reminders on events, but a visible un-obtrusive indicator like this would be perfect and it seems to me to be an easy enough add-on.

In addition to leaving feedback as Jason suggested, be aware that the functionality you mention ('red dot with number' for the Calendar app icon) is already implemented - if you have a MobileMe or an Exchange/ActiveSync account on the iPhone, +new calendar event invitations+ sent to you show as a number in a red dot on the Calendar app, just like new emails on the Mail app.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • My iCloud calendar icon shows jumbled numbers on my PC

My iCloud Calendar icon shows jumbled numbers on my PC.  What does this mean?

I think you might need to experiment with different levels of zoom. It might depend on your resolution. I found if I zoomed out too far, a slightly paler area appeared at the bottom of the screen. If I zoomed in until this just disappeared (and no further) the numbers displayed correctly. Again, you may need a refresh to get it to work.

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

I want to delete photos that are on my iphone, by doing so from the computer, not my phone.
Syncing your device with itunes will then enable you to remove whatever photos you wish to remove from your device deleting them with the computer and not the iphone.

  • Show number of events/appointments in iCal

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to show the number of events/appointments for each day in the calendar has. If this should require custom scripting or something like that, that's also ok for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Steve,
I don't know if you know about it but there is a forum dedicated to PL / SQL which might be better for this type of question. In any case , browsing the SQL documentation at the moment there is a date time format W which appears to do what you want. There are in fact two week number formats WW and W. One is for week number in the year the other for week number in the month. Hope this helps. Here is a link:

  • My calendar has a daily recurring event that I did not add.  Having problems deleting it.

I just purchased the iPhone 4 thourgh Verizon.  I was adding an event to my calendar and noticed that every Monday @ 6AM there is a recurring event already on the calendar.  I did not add this.  It goes on indefinitely.  I selected the event and clicked 'delete all future events'.  It worked...but only for a second, then they were all back on the calendar.  I find that if i delete the events individually they stay deleted.  But, as you can imagine, this becomes quite tedious.
Any suggestions as to how this is on my calendar and how to delete all at once?

Please note that Firefox doesn't install Babylon, it's a malware like program that we are actively working on banning.

  • How to calculate the number of events that happened per clock hour.

My example case has a list of patients that were discharged from a hospital yesterday.  The patients are in a field caled "Account number".
The field "Discharge Date" lets me select the date.  The field "Discharge TIme" shows me the time each patient was discharged.
Example:  0715, 0830,1005, 1010, 1025, 1435, etc.   I need to run the report to know how many patients were discharged per each clock hour.  How many were discharged from 0000 to 0100, 0100 - 0200, 0200 - 0300, etc.
    Acct #     Disch Time
    P12121     0715
    P23233     0731
    P34343     0812
    P32333     1015
From research I am assuming I need to capture just the first two numbers that represent the hour and discard the minutes.
I would like to see the results in a similar format to this.
    Hour     #of Patients
    07-08     2
    08-09     1
    09-10     1
    22-23     x
    23-00     x

    Jamie,
I attemped to create the formula and got an error message.
Also, Please explain in a little more detail how I do the following:
"create a group on this new field, you can then right click on your patient field and choose Insert Summary > Count and add this to the group level.

  • App Store icon show update for apps that i did not install.

Hi, i seriously jammed with my head, my appstore show that there an update for this angry bird icon, but when i checked, i did not install any angry bird games on my macbook. how do i resolve this?

It's quite likely that your son is making in-app purchases. Many free or inexpensive games offer additional features - levels, coins, tools, weapons, etc. - that are purchased from within the game, and these purchases can be quite expensive or can add up very quickly. Check your Purchase History for your iTunes Store account; such purchases would be reflected there. If they are, then ask your son about this. There may be no fraud at all.
To prevent such unauthorized purchases from within an app, set the Restrictions on your son's iPhone to turn off In-App purchasing and, I'd recommend, to  the "immediate" setting for requiring a password for purchasing.
    Regards.

  • After Maverick, calendar not showing time of event

on Friday, my OS was updated to Maverick and now my calendar displys the events but no time on the month view. To see time of events I have to go to week view, which I do not like at all... Anyone knows how to get this resolved? The preferences doe nto give me that choice, at least as far as I can tell. Thanks for the help.

To see event times in month view, you can either make the Calendar window bigger, or, if you want to keep the window small, you can add the time to event titles.
(IMO, Calendar works best as a full screen app.)

  • Calendar Sync Alert lists deleted events that I don't want deleted?

When I sync my iphone and macbook pro I get a calendar alert because it will change 5% of my calendar events or more. Problem is - the items it's listing as "deleted" have not been deleted? what I mean is that I didn't ever delete them from either device and I don't want them deleted but there is no way for me "deselect" these items. I just have to cancel the sync so I don't loose all the events it's lising and my calendars remain unsynced. How can I remedy this without loosing the events?
    Thanks, Heather

In iCal on your computer go to Preferences/Advanced, and uncheck the option to delete events after a period of time.

  • Calendar on iOS 7.1: Cannot Save Event - That event does not belong to that event store.

    Hi All,
I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.
Yesterday, while updating a birthday in the iPhone iOS calendar app (default calendar = GMail), I noticed that the new 'List View' in the iOS 7.1 calendar (and only that view) showed an event called 'New Event' - which has a start date of 2014 and an end date of 2001. If I go into that event, it will show me no title and no location - only, as mentioned, funny start and end times. The 'Delete Event' button is completely missing. This 'New Event' does not come up in any other view.
Trying to input a ficticious title with a valid start and end time into that event slot leads to a message from the calendar app saying: "Cannot Save Event - That event does not belong to that event store." I have deleted all calendars and re-add them again via settings, with / without soft and hard reset and tried every possible combination. Yet, the event will not disappear.
The funny thing is that this 'New Event' will still showed up, even when my GMail, work and iCloud calendars were disabled. I have, however, subscribed to a GMail calendar for Australian holidays, and there is a built-in 'Birthday' calendar that pulls the dates from the contacts (I do not use that contact field, though).
Does anyone have a similar issue? Any suggestions how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance!
Edit: This 'New Event' does not seem to sync to any calendar other than on the iPhone - not to Gmail, not to work, not to iCloud.

Had same problem. Although the phone looks off   it actually isnt.  If you actually turn it off and then on again this problem will disappear. I think its a memory overload issue that is solved by clearing the memory by turning it off.
    Worked for me

  • How does Calendar coordinate Time Zones for events?

By clicking a link at my seminar's web site, I told Mountain Lion Calendar to store an upcoming event that takes place in the Pacific Time Zone. I am in the Central Time Zone. If I visit Calendar, the event shows the Pacific Time start. How do I get calendar to show me the Central Time start when I go to Calendar. I don't want to have to guess which is which?

Mail Preferences. I think this is what Kappy is referring to if you haven't found it.

  • How to identify an event that trigger a process chain.

    Hi,
I have a process chain, which starts after the an event is triggered.
How to find out where this event is triggered.
    Cheers
    Senthil

    Hi Senthil,
When it comes to event based chains there could be many scenarious:
    1) There is an event collector which collects some events and then triggers the subsequent event.
In this case Right Click on the start variant of the process chain and then display scheduled Job. You get the released Job and then double click on that released Job it will show you the event that triggers this chain.
Then take this event and go to table RSEVENTHEAD and then place this event in field EVENT_OK then execute then in the field CHAIN_ID you get the name of the event collector. Then take this event collector in RSA1 --> Tools --> Event Collector and search it gives all the event collected in this.
    2) The event based chain has no event collector and the event can be triggered from another chain or any other Job from the same system or any other system.
In those cases you need to be aware of the dependency but there is no hardcore rule to derive the event from where it triggers.
Also search the event in SM62 it could be of some use.
    Cheers,
    Neelesh Jain,
