Suggestion: Combining SD segments in Forum - SAP Solutions

HI,
It is recommended to combine the SD segment in the Forum Area - SAP Solution Section, as it is observed that same query is being posted in multiple SD segment. The segment which I am refering are as under, which should actually come under common headind which is Sales and Distribution:
ERP - Sales and Distribution (SD) General
ERP SD Billing
ERP SD Sales
This will benefit by reducing the number of repititive blogs and having solution with better approach.
Regards,
Rajesh Banka

Hi Rajesh,
I think we started it initially as one common head Sales and Distribution. The division was made I think to better segregate the flood questions into different pools of Order/Delivery/Billing related.  I feel the idea behind this is good.
But rightly, as you said there may be repitition of a question into these sections which I think with rules of engagement or educating the people who do it can bring it down.
Not sure if we have a system that can track for a given user id if exactly the same is being posted again. Perhaps something which can work like a filter and say stop "Cant repeat the thread".
This will make the poster of the question also to think what type question he is askig and into which category he has to post, because only then he can get the correct answer.
But for viewing purpose, may be we can have a common link that combines all the questions under one roof so that the contributor need not go to different sections to see if he can answer them.
Best Regards
Sadhu Kishore

  • Please suggest on: SAP Solution Manager Installation

    Hi Experts,
We are going to install SAP Solution Manager in our landscape. Our present SAP version is: ECC 6.0 and Database is: Oracle 10.2.0.2 and OS is: AIX 5.3
    1. Please suggest us which is the suitable Solution manager version for our environment?
    2. What are the pre-requisites and needful steps to take before starting the installation?
    3. Where can I get complete step by step documents for this activity?
    4. Which OS & DB  is suitable for our environment?
    Thanks in advance!
    Veera

Can I also ask for some confirmation about a couple of things.  I have looked at the SAP documents but I can't find a definite answer to these questions:
    1.  David Kroone - you say that Solution manager should be set up on a new server but I understand that it is possible to run it on one of our existing R/3 servers.  Is this correct?  Does anyone have any comments about this?
    2.  David - you also say that we can pick any OS & DB for the Solution Manager server. We are running R/3 on Oracle/Solaris but would prefer to run Solution Manager on a Windows server running SQLServer.  Is this definitely OK?  (it would be cheaper though you advise that using the same platform could make it simpler - is this because Solution Manager works better on the same platform or is it just because we would then have a more homogeneous environment?)
    3.  We are currently on 4.7 but plan to move to ECC6 this summer.  We want (need?) to install Solution Manager before we upgrade to ECC6.  Should this affect our decision in anyway?
Sorry to re-ask the same questions but it's difficult to find a precise answer in the SAP documents.

  • SAP Solution Manager Certification

    Hi there!
I would like to give Certification exam in SAP Solution Manager 4.0.
Pertaining to this could anybody share the related PDF Files.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hello,
I've tried to get to some Sample Questions here on Forum, but I couldn't get any.
I passed an exam on 14.11.2006 and I suggest to you to use course materials as suggested by SAP (SMI310). That is sufficient to pass the certificate. All the answers are there.
My general opinion: not easy…You have to be pretty much concentrated as there were questions put in negative expressions. You have to be really, really carefull.
They are taking a lot of details on subjects like Type of projects (Template projects, Roll out implementations, customer satisfaction…) including its Roadmaps. (e.g. roll-out project phases and its content….)
I only saw 3 or 4 questions familiar to me (from Test your knowledge, SMI310 book), others were really related to course materials but spoken in their own words…
If you have any questions, dont hesitate to contact me.
Good luck to you and best regards.

  • Own Forum for Solution Manager

We are implementing the Change Request Manager part of the SAP Solution Manager, and are still navigating on the high seas.
So I had a look at the SDN if I can find some useful tips.
I found contributions in Web AS general, CRM, Netweaver Platform, Other SDN Questions, ...
Business Process Management (BPM) should be the right one, but it seems to be too generic for this complex and by its own nature difficult to isolate product.
So I suggest an own forum for the SAP Solution Manager, easy to be found by everybody, where all problems can be concentrated.
    Thanks for your kind attention!

    Hi Craig & Hi Mark,
Until the Solution Manager Forum is up and running, I have a small question that I'm hoping you can help me with.  I am currently evaluating Solution Manager as more than just a "technical communication channel" between client and SAP.
I would define my work tasks as being functional, and see a wonderful opportunity to use SolMan as the name of the product advertises: a solution manager (integration of the roadmap, IMG, business blueprint, project management, monitoring, help-desk, etc.).  Where I work, this would translate into integration of the functional and technical personnel.
I've heard from a previous presentation that the 3.1 version had certain issues.  I was wondering if the ramp-up 4.0 of December would have "smoothed" out these issues.
I was reading in the forum all I could find on SolMan, and came across this thread which seems to indicate that SolMan is still primarily a "technical communication channel".
Re: ASAP roadmaps in Solution Manager 3.1
Can I get input for the 4.0 ramp-up?

  • SAP Solutions StackExchange Q&A Site

At the risk of being labeled a spammer and being excommunicated from SDN, I am posting an appeal here which I posted on the Suggestions forum - you could construe this as being Coffee talk anyway :
I have created a proposal on StackExchange for a Q&A site for SAP solutions.
However, the proposal was flagged as a duplicate by the submitters of another proposal for Enterprise. The submitters of that proposal, however, lump together SAP with ERP, CRM, HR etc, as if SAP were merely another category of enterprise software, clearly demonstrating a lack of knowledge about what SAP is.
If you support the idea of a StackExchange Q&A site for SAP Solutions, please follow the proposal and add your comments at the following URL: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/31043/sap-solutions
Also, please raise your voice in this discussion as well: http://discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/questions/1460/q-a-on-sap-warrants-a-site-on-its-own

Hi Martin, that's a great idea; I've often wished this already existed as I'm a fan of the StackExchange communities myself. I see I'm too late for your proposal as it's been closed, but a newer one is still open and needs support. Since your question is still showing up quite high on a Google search I thought it was worth posting a reply to your old question pointing people to the newer request:

  • SAP Solution failing

We heard that [SAP solutions are excellent (in fact best) for manufacturing industry |http://www.infoverto.com/2010/05/manufacturing-erp-software-options.html]and these views were echoed by out internal leaders but now when we were evaluating the SAP solution generally against some of our niche requirements - we are a furniture manufacturig company - we found that there are a lot of gaps found in standard solution offered by SAP. Now, some of the consultants that we hired, are suggesting to go for consona or sage instead for furniture manufacturing. Since this forum has excellent SAP experts, we need to know whether it is a good idea of going with SAP or not. Sorry, I can not share the niche requirements in this forum as they are our USP.

    Hi,

    >>The license is expired.should i reinstall the license or update the license.plz do the needful
This is a forum. We can only suggest you but this doesnot sounds good "plz do the needful"
You need to install a new license. Go to Service marketplace and apply a new license for your system and when you will receive a new license as a text file, then install the license via SLICENSE

I would like to know If you are using SAP Solution Manager as a central tool for overall Documentation Management?
Could you please share some information about your solution?
    Many thanks.

    Hi Ridouan,
For this i suggest two options:
*Use Template Projects to manage templates:

*Use Solutions to re-use some structures:

  • Sap Solution Manager 7.1 SP11 Basic Configuration

    Hi Experts,
I am in fresh installation for Sap Solution Manager 7.1 SP11. At Basis Configuartion Phase in step " Configure CA Introscope".
I have successfully installed, but it shows the following message: " Offline - The EM Connection cannot be established (caused by :com.sap.smd.introscope.em.IntroscopeException: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException_) "
Need suggestions how to proceed from here.
    thanks

    Raja,
    I assume you're using Linux/UNIX.
Here's the solution. It worked for me.
In /usr/sap/ccms/apmintroscope/config/users.xml, update the Guest password with this MD5 hash: c4582df82299e0581a9fc6bb34c53
In user management screen of "Configure CA Introscope", choose "Guest" as connection user with password "guest12" (without quotation marks)
If it's still not working, then delete the EM and re-install the introscope.
Go to expert mode -> Delete references -> Remove the line
    Delete folder /usr/sap/ccms/apmintroscope
Install introscope and management modules againdon't forget to re-set the permission for diagnostic agent user
Go back to solman_setup "Configure CA Introscope" and do import CA again
Save, you'll have a green status

  • Configuration for Central Monitoring System in SAP Solution Manager.

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to setup Central System Monitoring in SAP Solution Manager, I am following the document which mention the step by step instructions.
There are couple of items on which  I am really confused.
In the documentation it says to activate Background Dispatching & Central System dispatching in 000 client of Solution Manager,
it also mentioned about creating CSMREG user, but it did not say in which client this activity needs to be performed, and there are lot many steps in which there is no mention about the client of solution manager in which we have to perform the configuration.
Can you guys please help me to configure properly?
One set document which I saw talks about the configuration using RZ21 and other document discuss about Configuration using System Monitoring Work Center, which one do we need to follow, are both methods are 2 different options doing the same thing, can you please clarify?
Also, is there any document which clearly explains the setup of  Central System Monitoring in SAP Solution manager using both approaches and also to test the monitoring?
    I have SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1.
    Thanks.

You can use RZ21 or System monitoring through work center. From Solution manager 7.1, you need to use work center only. So, I would suggest you to use work center only.

  • Implementierung des SAP Solution Managers 4.0 SR2 über SAP Netweaver 2004s

    Hallo Leute,
    MfG
    Ali

    Hi,
For how long the installation process has been running. Check the following.
    1. The virtual memory page size that you have assigned.
    2. The hard disk free space.
    3. The Virtual memory should be optimized size, should not be larger than the free space available.
    These are performance optimization settings.
I guess the installation would take around ten hours, I am not sure.
But one thing is sure <b>SAP</b> is not that bad to get aborted abruptly.
Keep Patience while installing. Before that take care that your system satisfies, requirements.
Hope I was clear. Feel free to get back, incase you face any problem.
