Suggestion - feedback anyone?

Hey everyone. I just recently thought of an awesome, simple feature Apple should definitely integrate with the next iPod firmware update. Here it is... if anyone here has ever noticed, when shuffling songs in iTunes, there is a button to press. While that option is on, iTunes will shuffle your songs no matter what; if it's on, and you're shuffling, but suddenly decide to listen to a specific song, you can do so, but the next song after that isn't the next song on the list; Shuffle stays on. On the iPod, this can not be done. As soon as a specific song is selected for play, Shuffle is shut off, and the list is played in progressive order. Wouldn't it be intruiging to have an actual Shuffle on/off option, in which the way it's done in iTunes is how it's done on the iPod? Well, I thought so... and I'm curios you see what you guys think. Should I submit it as a feedback suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Main Menu on iPod, scroll down to Shuffle Songs. Or its in the settings menu, too, you can shuffle songs, or albums. Also when shuffle is on, and you choose a specific song, shuffle will stay on, but that song you just chose is now listed as track 1 of XX, and shuffle continues from there.

    Thanks for the reply.
    Have tried repairing via pcc, also done a factory reset, disabled some apps and cleared the cache on a few other apps.
    Also, tried using different browsers like opera, dolphin and all not being able to play flash properly mainly on youtube.
    The only time a youtube vid played properly through the desktop site was when I set the quality of the video to the lowest possible (something like 350p) ?

  • Any suggestions/feedback on this(develeoper 2 develeoper)

    I have been developing a small tool for the last 3 weeks. This tool is intended to speed up
    application development by means of code generation, some re-usable class library, a framework.
    I am currently organizing the document for this. The tool is in an alpha stage but it works
    essentially. I have made an initial document about this tool.
    I would like to know the following:-
    Is such a tool already in existence?
    If not what are the chances of someone adopting this tool for further development?
    The general approach is this.:-
    We often write wrapper classes and try wrapping form submission information in it. Wrapper
    classes are of a few types.
    Before building a wrapper class we might want to validate the form
    submission data.
    The tool through code generation takes care of writing the wrapper classes, the wrapper builder
    classes, and server side validation.
    The tool also takes care of controller logic which works through property files and a handler
    class both generated by the tool.
    The framework also works with JAAS.
    There is one controller servlet which is XML based and that loads information in its init method
    from the XML, the property files etc.
    (Although it has not been shown in the pdf as of now but the tool can take care of forms with multiple submit buttons/ image buttons also. There are suitable tags for that purpose)
    The good thing is that the tool allows for all this logic to be developed / altered using a
    simple user interface. If all the code for the wrapper, server side valiadtion, and building the
    wrappers was to be written by hand the tool is expected to eliminate that time. Develeopers can
    concentrate on the actual business logic.
    I am giving a url where I am making the pdf for the tool. I want the pdf to be very clear before
    I submit the code.
    In the pdf I am trying to explain all this.
    So what do you think?
    Do reply.
    I can also be contacted at [email protected]
    Go to this url and click on "Initial Document"
    http://www.geocities.com/raghuraman1/index.html
    This will give you a zip of a pdf
    I will be revising the pdf shortly and will appreciate any comments on improving the pdf.
    Raghu

    I uploaded another update to the pdf.
    I now have JAAS security to cover.
    Once thats done I will be uploading the actual code so that the code can be tried out.
    The reason I am ensuring the documentation is well done is to ensure that things are tried out correctly. I don't want anyone trying out some of the modules I am yet to work on and thinking that the tool does not work.
    Otherwise not getting any feedback can be kind of unnerving. But I hope I will get it when I upload the code. And that should not be far off. Just a couple of more days.

  • How can we provide suggestions/feedback to MS for improvements to the object model interfaces for Transport Agents?

    Having worked on TA's for a while now we've found there are several things missing in the object model for our requirements. Consequently we have some horrible code that need to do some things directly either with MIME or TNEF - which is a crying
    shame as MS must have all the code to do the things we need anyway, it's just that the object model is deficient.
    It'd be useful if there were an Exchange category on MS Connect where we could submit our suggestions, but as far as I can see, there isn't one.
    So, where do the Exchange TA developers get to hear customer feedback?

    Hello David,
    Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. You can provide feedback on Transport agents by using this site:

  • Suggestions / feedback

    Is there a place for suggestions and feedback from the beta? I really like Safari and have some comments:
    1. I've noticed a minor problem in XP with refreshing the screen when switching between applications. This only happens sometimes, though.
    2. For some reason, it doesn't seem to save my button layout?
    3. I'd like to suggest a couple more buttons: images on/off/cached only and a zoom button to scale pages/images
    cheers

    Hi,
    This refers to an earlier beta version but the reporting suggestions at the top still apply for the current beta

  • ITunes won't start.  No error, no message.  I've already tried everything suggested.  Anyone else?

    I've tried uninstalling everything iTunes/Apple related.  New computer, it worked for a while then just stopped.  Nothing happens when I try to open iTunes from programs, from desktop, by plugging in my iPod.  Nada.

  • What external Hard drive can I get to use w/ my iMac and Macbook pro w/ Lion software? I have never used one. I need to back up my photos, iTunes, documenta, etc., Im a nursing student and very worried about losing my stuff. Any suggestions?

    I have had my macbook pro and desktop since 2008 now.  I have never had time to just sit down and learn about time machine and external hard drives.  I am in nursing school and barely have time to breathe, so when I try to read the threads, all the tech terms run together.  I have been referred to LaCIe, but I read some things saying problems with Lion (which I am highly disapointed in so far-but like I said, I have not had a lot of time to sit down and try to figure out out the kinks), Is there a good external harddrive anyone reccommends that will be easy/simple (not because I am lazy- I literally have no time w/ all my school work to figure out something complicated) , and go with my desk top and lap top?
    My laptop started messing up in class the other day, and it has a lot of memory left, so I don't understand.  It kept freezing up like a PC.  Ever since I downloaded Lion, it seems my computers have gotten slower. ;(    I have MacKeeper downloaded on both of them. I cleaned stuff off, it seems to be working better right now. But I am still soooo scared that something will happen and I will lose all of my info.
    I would be grateful of any advice/suggestions that anyone can give me.
    Thanks

  • Has anyone been successful importing h.264 into Encore?

    First, my system and goal:
    A MacPro with 2.66mHz dual core and 12 gigs of RAM.
    Multi Terrabytes of space.
    I shoot on a Panasonic HVX-200, edit in Final Cut Pro and output Quicktime files as the basis for rendering to DVD and Blu-ray. I shot this stuff in 1080i. The camera codec is DVCPROHD and that is what I output to also.
    I am trying to burn Blu-ray discs. I have an external Pioneer BDR-203 Blu-ray burner and it works fine.
    I have done my tests and have decided that for Blu-ray, h.264 is far superior to mpeg2 in look and file size so I am sticking with it.
    Here is the issue (and I have scoured this forum area and found no one discussing or solving this issue to date):
    I have made hundreds of different DVDs with DVDStudioPro and am very familiar with it. Not to get off on a tangent but my beloved Apple has decided to betray me by not supporting Blu-ray (the ONLY way to output HD for us independents) so I studied up on Encore and have been using it to format my latest project to HD. The interface works pretty nice and even has some superiority to DVDSP but you have to have the patience of JOB to see your results. 5 Day (Remember. That's 24 Hour Days) Rendering is my tops so far. (OK. Full Disclosure... the documentary is 3 hours and 15 minutes long BUT DVDStudioPro took the same Quicktime files and crunched them down to mpeg2 for the DVD in about a day) Anyway about 6 days ago I had a 3 day render session that crapped out on me as it was finally recording to disc. For some reason it didn't like the BD-RE disc I had in the machine and just bagged the whole process. When I put in a new disc it just started rendering All Over Again. After that debacle I gave up on that method and now am rendering to BDMV folders which I then burn to disc using Toast. (While I am writing this my fingers are crossed that it will make it to the end - it's been another 3 days...)
    I provide the details above to show why I am more than dismayed that I cannot figure any way to import h.264 files INTO Encore from another renderer. Either Compressor or Encoder render much faster than Encore. So I have tried render my project to a variety of output types from both Apple's Compressor and Adobe's Encoder with no joy any way I try.
    (as a side note I am also dismayed that when I made a change to a MENU, Encore decided to encode The Whole Project Again rather than just the menu part...)
    One of my latest file testing adventures was based on a theory that the problem has to do with DVCPROHD recording to 1280 x 1080 anamorphic rather than 1440 x 1080 (the "expected" frame size for 1080i). I fooled with that a half day but could not get either renderer to generate any test material from my FCP output that Encore would burn without re-rendering. By that I mean I cajoled and tricked Compressor and Encoder to output 1920 x 1080 files; 1440 x 1080 files and 1280 x 1080 files (all h.264) to see if Encore would recognize any of them without re-rendering them. No Luck.
    So. Has anyone had success importing h.264 into CS4Encore from anywhere (but particularly using the same or similar gear I am using)? The Encore literature really doesn't give you much to go oon.
    Lately I am very inclined to think the problem has something to do with this 1280 x 1080 DVCPROHD issue but I can't say for sure. I offer that as a suggestion if anyone else with a similar production stream is having the same problem and maybe it will trip a switch in their mind for a solution.
    I like the Encore interface and design possibilities you have by swinging back and forth from PShop and After Effects but using Encore's renderer is like Chinese Water Torture.
    Thanks for your help.

    Brian,
    I got your test file into Encore and got Encore to show its Blu-ray transcode status as "Don't Transcode".

  • Critique my Setup - suggestions please!!!

    Hi all. I'm new to this forum and hopefully some of you can help me. We have a photography business and recently bought a new custom built PC. It has the following specs:
    Intel Core 2 Duo (Extreme Performance) Platform
    Asus P5KC Core 2 Quad/ Intel P35/ DDR3+DDR2/ CrossFire/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard
    Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9300 2.5GHz 1333MHz 6MB LGA775 EM64T CPU, Retail

    10/100BASE-T On board Fast Ethernet LAN Controller (Build On Motheboard)
    Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, (1-Pack DVD), OEM
    We also have a USB 2.0 Seagate external harddrive that we keep most of our photos stored on. We move them to the harddrive before working on them. We are using Photoshop CS3 adn would like to make the program as fast as possible. I have read that having a second hard drive dedicated as a scratch disk will help immensely. My question is this. What type of drive should I buy? Also, I have a Maxtor DiamondMax 21 200GB UDMA/100 7200RPM 8MB IDE Hard Drive I may be able to use as my scratch disk (not sure if connections will work with this motherboard though). Would I see any significant performance boost by using this IDE drive as my scratch disk or would I better better off sticking with my current internal hardrive stated above? I'm not against buying a good second hard drive but don't want to if this IDE drive will work. If a second drive is recommended, what do you guys recommend given my current setup?
    I would like to setup the machine with Raid drives and all that, but I don't know enough about how to do that I don't think.
    Any suggestions? Also, one last quick thing, I sometimes get the scratch disk full error and sometimes CS3 just crashes. It also is slow sometimes. Please help. Thanks everyone!!!!!!

    Do you suggest anything else in addition to getting a Sata drive? How big a drive do I need?
    As much as I would love to switch to vista 64, your talkign about a significant investment. I did however ask for a motherboard when my cpu was being built that can handle both vista 32 and 64...so I have that covered. However, I don't feel like shelling out a ton of $$$$ on PS 64, Lightroom 64, vista 64, and any other program that is currently 32 bit on my cpu. That seems like alot bigger investment than I'm ready to make. ALso, I doubt all the bugs are worked out of 64 bit software as of right now. I ordered a floppy disk drive just to have it as I find they don't scratch as easy as CD's...lol. Also, they are just big enough to hold important docs such as password lists and stuff.
    Thanks again and I welcome any other suggestions from anyone else as I'm new to the technical/cpu aspect of photoshop. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know any tips for editing video to display on an LED digital billboard?

    I was just given a MOV file of a TV commercial they want to display on a digital billboard. It needs to be converted to AVI format.
    They said when they tried to translate it to AVI, it looked terrible and they couldn't tell what it was.
    They thought I might have better luck since I have Premiere Pro.
    I'm a beginner with Premiere anyway, but I also have no experience with digital billboards. I have no idea what settings I should use or anything.
    I think it's going to look pixelated anyway, just because that's what LED signs do. Also, the TV commercial is a night scene around a campfire, so that doesn't help.
    I asked what company made the sign and they told me ICE and the software used for it is called IView, but I haven't been able to Google anything helpful from ICE so far.
    So any tips, tricks or suggestions from anyone who might have previous experience with this kind of thing would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks!

    OMG! I finally got the sign company's phone number and called their tech support and he was clueless! He didn't even know what a codec was!
    All he knew was that the frame rate is 30, pixel matrix is 48 pixels high by 96 pixels wide, and WMV is actually a preferable format to AVI.
    But I see WMV also isn't an option in Premiere, so I'm guessing that is also nothing but another container?
    Maybe I should just export it to Quicktime and find some free translation software to change it to WMV.

  • Could anyone help me with my program

    Hi i have a piece of code which i want to improve. The two methods are SplitTextArea and SplitGlossArea.
    SplitTextArea, looks at the black and white parts of the page and uses this to separate sentances from eachother by detecting where the sentance is by the black text.
    And the SplitGlossArea is to do with annotations and comments.
    To improve the code i have changed the value of backColor1 to 200 from 245. This increases the number of locations considered to be "on average white". But this is not perfect on different types of images.
    The program seems to struggle separating the test and the gloss and this seems to effect the text splitting. So i have looked at another method called "SetTextEdge", this works out the gap between the gloss and the text, by looking for the most common distance of first non-white from the left edge or the right edge, depending on whether it is a left or right page. The array "firstMode" records how many times each distance occurs, and the first most common distance is "posMode".
    Some possible things i have planned to try (but have not got round to wondering if anyone out there can HELP!! :D)
    1. to do some sort of rolling average as following (to print out the values in "firstMode" and adjust them so i can use them in the code to see what happened)
    2. To consider only distances near where the text edge is expected (say between 100 and 200) rather than right.
    Here are the SplitTextArea and SplitGlossArea methods::
    private static int setTextEdge(boolean leftPage)
        int[] firstMode = new int[imageWidth + 1] ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i <= imageWidth ; i++)
            firstMode[i] = 0 ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i < cropHeight ; i++)
            int mx1 = 0 ;
            if (leftPage)
                while ((mx1 <cropWidth) &&
                   (getColour(leftEdge + mx1, topEdge + i) > 200))
                    mx1++ ;
            else
                while ((mx1 <cropWidth) &&
                   (getColour(leftEdge + cropWidth - mx1, topEdge + i) > 200))
                    mx1++ ;
            if (mx1 < (cropWidth / 2))
            firstMode[mx1]++ ;
        int maxMode = -1,
            posMode = -1 ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i < imageWidth ; i++)
            if (maxMode < firstMode)
    maxMode = firstMode[i] ;
    posMode = i ;
    posMode -= 2 ;
    if (leftPage)
    message("left edge of text is at " + (leftEdge + posMode)) ;
    return leftEdge + posMode ;
    else

    And here is the code for the setTextEdge method.
    private static int setTextEdge(boolean leftPage)
        int[] firstMode = new int[imageWidth + 1] ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i <= imageWidth ; i++)
            firstMode[i] = 0 ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i < cropHeight ; i++)
            int mx1 = 0 ;
            if (leftPage)
                while ((mx1 <cropWidth) &&
                   (getColour(leftEdge + mx1, topEdge + i) > 200))
                    mx1++ ;
            else
                while ((mx1 <cropWidth) &&
                   (getColour(leftEdge + cropWidth - mx1, topEdge + i) > 200))
                    mx1++ ;
            if (mx1 < (cropWidth / 2))
            firstMode[mx1]++ ;
        int maxMode = -1,
            posMode = -1 ;
        for (int i = 0 ; i < imageWidth ; i++)
            if (maxMode < firstMode)
    maxMode = firstMode[i] ;
    posMode = i ;
    posMode -= 2 ;
    if (leftPage)
    message("left edge of text is at " + (leftEdge + posMode)) ;
    return leftEdge + posMode ;
    else
    message("right edge of text is at " + (leftEdge + cropWidth - posMode)) ;
    return leftEdge + cropWidth - posMode ;
    } // end of method setTextEdge
    Hope someone can help me.
    Sorry about this being quite a long post
    Reply as soon as you can
    Thanks

    ... and it looks like this is just a continuation (or
    a starting over again, which, if it is, is just plain
    annoying) of this:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=594546
    So I'd suggest to anyone inclined to reply to just go
    there. And to the OP to continue his original topic
    rather than starting it over, which is likely to just
    duplicate some of the same replies you got before,
    thus wasting answerer's time.I'm sorry but i post my thread a few people answer and then when its old and at the back of a forum no-one bothers with the post anymore.
    And i really need help with this problem??
    I will do as you say and just post a thread asking people to look at a previous post. Thanks for the help

  • A suggestion for wiki

    I see a lot of people asking "What's the best 'x' application?" (file manager, windows manager etc. more then 1 thread for 'x' app) and it would be nice if it there would be an option for users to rate the 'x' app  . So at the "Common apps" would be a list of apps each with a community score.

    knob wrote:Yeah I know, but I don't think it's really hard to implement and imo I think it would be helpful...
    Hehe he's suggesting that it's a wiki because it means you can easily implement your own suggestion.  Anyone can, and is welcome to, update/create wiki articles.

  • Need suggestion for large objects

    Hi
    I have to work out a solution for best result from a permutation of 13 elements,
    so the number of permutations is
    1X2X3X4X5X6X7X8X9X10X11X12X13 = 6227020800
    So how do i go through all these permutations to find the solution.
    Loading this into an array is on possibility, but then there is danger of heap size, i was thinking of any embedded database which i can put along with my application,
    any ideas, or suggestions, has anyone done any thing like this

    Hi
    The problem is kind of traveling sales man or CPM
    suppose there are 4 nodes A,B,C,D
    i need to find the best combination to visit all the nodes,
    so the possible permutations are
    A-B-C-D
    A-C-B-D
    B-A-C-D
    B-C-A-D
    so for 4 nodes, i have 4 X 3 X 2 X 1 = 24 permutations.
    Now if the distance between A-B is 1.0 then B-A can be 2.0,
    so the values can be
    A-B is 2.0
    A-C is 3.0
    A-D is 1.5
    B-A is 3.5
    B-C is 1.6
    C-D is 2.1
    So what i am trying is
    if A-B-C-D is 2.0+ 1.6 + 2.1 = 5.7 and i then i will have 24 solution and the lowest is one i want.
    I tried to find a traveling sales man algorithm in java, but could not find any that can be use full for my problem
    Any ideas

  • Autocomplete suggests my user ID and date of birth on the log in page of my savings account - how do I stop this?

    For the most part autocomplete is really helpful. However, when I log in to my savings account, my user ID and DOB are suggested, allowing anyone on my PC to view my account (a security code is required to carry out any transactions which does not appear to be autocompleted!) - how can I switch this off please? This has started since I reset Firefox (due to slowness, as recommended by Firefox). Thanks.

    Thank you jscher2000: all fixed now!

  • Feedback about backuping up iPhoto Library

    I am trying to come up with a good plan for backing up my iPhotos. I keep my photos in "Events" in iPhoto, and in the past exported and burned them to a CD when my drive got too full. I recently got a huge external drive to store photos on and am trying to come up with a plan. I don't want to designate the external drive as my permanent iPhoto Library, because I like to be mobile with my laptop and import photos when on trips, etc. without having the EHD with me. I'd appreciate some feedback on my photo storage plan:
    1. Make a copy of Events to a DVD (still in iPhoto Library format). I noticed, however, that the labeled events go away when I do this and all the photos are merged into one event on the DVD. Dang!
    2. Export the photos to an external drive, where I am beginning to build photo categories (flowers, wild animals, domestic animals, sky, etc.) for copies of my "best shots." Otherwise they are just put in a directory with the date in a set format (2008July or 2008Canada, 2007Christmas).
    3. Then when my drive starts to get full, I delete them off of my laptop drive.
    4. I also have an EHD (a separate one) designated for time machine.
    So here's what I'm wondering about:
    1. Does this seem like a good system?
    2. I like to make slideshow movies, and burn them to DVD using iMovie and iDVD. I recently bought a program called FotoMagico, that I hear has better quality output that iMovieHD. I tested it and I can bring the exported files from the external hard dive into FotoMagico to make the movie - and FotoMagico states that I can export directly to iDVD when I've built the movie. So I think this should work. I don't have enough room on my laptop's drive to have the photos and build the project -- so I'm hoping to be able to move all my photos from the laptop, to the EHD, to have space on my Laptop to build the project. Does this make sense? Do you see any problems with my plans?
    Sorry this is such a huge post, I hope you can follow it. :- ) Thanks for any suggestions, feedback you can give me.

    I use SuperDuper to make a bootable backup of my drive, too. Geez..do I sound obsessive? I run it once a month.
    I run the smart update daily
    The problem though, is my iPhoto Library is different from one month to another - so the backup doesn't really have my full library (I delete photos after I copy them to a DVD to make room on my drive). Hence, my need for the external drive and the time machine drive to back it up. Whew!
    So I read about the Library Manager software you recommended. It seems like a great solution. Much simpler than what I had in mind to do. And, it keeps the files in iPhoto format so I don't have to mess with exporting and importing them. Should still work nicely with FotoMagico I presume (I should never do that!).
    A question, however -- would I be able to NOT have the EHD connected to the PC and still have iPhoto work normally (able to import photos, etc.)? I couldn't find the answer to this on the website.
    No you would have multiple iPhoto libraries including one on your Mac Laptop - you would use IPLM to move photos off your laptop to the EHD when you get back to town - and while you have the EHD connected you can switch between libraries on the fly with IPLM
