Suggestion for a partially working play
I have a Zen Micro, and while i can't say its always been the best to use, it has provided me a lot of use. But now I'm having some issues after it fell earlier today.
After it fell when i powered it off and on (through battery removable, only way), it rebuilt the library and a good 90% or so of my music still appears to be there and (somewhat) working. There are a few weird things however.
. Playlists are gone, no sign of them ever. However, it kept all other settings such as my options for shutdown, backlight, the most played songs etc.
2. It always says "Select music to PLAY from the Music Library" on the screen when not in a menu. This makes it impossible to check what song you are listening to etc, but oddly enough the songs still seem to play fine. The only time it wont display this as the main message is when navagating menus and searching for music. Also the bar telling how long the song has been going on is always either empty or full. It will however tell me how many songs are in the now playing in top left ( of 5 etc).
3. Impossible to detect on computer. I've had this problem with the player before i ever dropped it, and i know it is a VERY common problem here on the forums, however it is a symptom all the same. I can get it to ring when i plug it in and windows xp detects it as a MTP Media Player. It also has the normal docking screen on the player at the time, this is all normal. However windows media player 0 and creative labs media organizer both have no idea it is plugged in at all. It DOES show up under device manager under "Windows Portable Devices" as "Creative Zen Micro". Driver version as reported by device manager is 5.2.3802.3802. I believe the last time i updated the software was around 5 months ago with everything current.
Now I can only see 2 solutions from what I know (hoping some tohers will know more please!) and that is...
. Do nothing. Try to creative playlist by guessing track numbers and using the add to selected feature, finally creating a now playing thing that will save as a playlist. However i still have missing music from the rollback, and i fear that i may not be able to get new media on it ever since i dropped it and windows wont recognize it.
2. Try to do a "recovery mode". This will erase all contents of player but possibly cure it. This should (as explainted by creative) make it recognizable again by my computer, as well as may fix the display problems. However, if it doesnt work, im stuck with a brick, as it was likely a circuitry/broke problem from when i dropped it. Then its even more useless than its current state.
The main thing i need from this i guess is either advice on what to do, or a possible solution as to how to get it readable by creative media organizer as i believe that will solve many of my problems.

Yur best bet is probably sending it in to creative, if ur out of rebate, consider buying a new one because you might be paying more for the parts than a new one. The hard dri've it most likely scratched, so a format might not work as well.

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!
The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works. Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up. Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp. Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp. Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.

Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?
It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

I just received a new macbook pro. I am looking for a usb3 external storage 500 GB drive. Some manufacturers of drives aren't for sure their drive will work with the new system. Does anybody have any suggestions for drives that will workw
There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.

With previous editions of iTunes for Windows, I could play a CD at the same time as it was being imported. That does not seem to work anymore. Why not, and is there a way to do both with the most current version? I am running a Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 and the most recent vesion of iTunes, which, in all other respects, works well. I just can't listen to an album for the 1/2 to 1 hour that it takes to import it into my library.
Two JVM's ? I thought that J2EE worked within a single JVM and run everything in containers. Can you see the two processes?

I used to play my guitar thru my PC using a line 6 Guitar port, Then I could play along with Guitar Pro tabs or MP3's. Now I have the Guitar Pro software on my Mac Air and I neeed an interface (which I can get at the Appple store- guitar plug to USB) but I neeed a suggestion for what software to run as an amp simulator, maybe line 6 is the best or maybe there are others I should check out. I know there are guitar "apps" for Ipads etc but this is a Mac. BTW I did not like the guitar sounds produced by Garageband. Thanks
I'm using GJABB with Logic Express 7.2.3 and have no problems.
However, I haven't started messing around with the modulation wheel yet which is pretty important in this libary since it controls volume. The sounds are great, though. I've just raised the mod wheel on each track to get the basic arrangement done, then I'll try the mod wheel for expression.
One thing about this library is that it pretty much forces you to do single horn lines since each patch is monophonic (like the real instrument). It does produce pretty nice results that way. I haven't tried upping the polyphony as I like the results this way. -

As you can see, the problem of i18n links integration was fixed, so you can use existing i18n template and combine with the new "Article summary" set.
I will modify the article about writing summaries to include those templates and examples.
EDIT: :oops: the i18n links in the article are just examples. Don't use them, since they lead to non-existing pages.
EDIT2: Okay, I've played around with the appearance of the summary box, but I'm at work now, so it's going nowhere. I'll play with it some more when I get home.

I use iTunes on my work pc solely for putting music on my iPod .
Yesterday I bought my first songs on ITMS and wanted to transfer them to my iPod.
When dragging and trying to drop the songs onto the iPod nothing happened.
Much later I found out that my work PC was not yet authorized to play songs bought with my ITMS account.
The thing I find a bit odd is how to authorize the pc - namely by playing a piece of purchased music. This seems an odd action since I don't even have speakers on the computer.
My suggestion for a new feature is to: show the 'Authorize this computer' when the user attempts to drop a purchased song onto the iPod - or at least display a message stating what is happening and why it is not possible at the moment - and what to do about it.

Suggestions for 808 PureView and Symbian Belle
Hi friends,
I am a proud owner of astounding (and worst marketed extra-ordinary device) 808 PureView. Biggest compliment to it is that it has replaced my SGS2. Yes, truly.
After using 808 for some time now I am quite happy but disappointed with certain things. Few things are so minor that I am surprised why Nokia removed it or didnt implement.
So here I am presenting a list of things which I would request Nokia to fix or implement. I will also request all of you here to add to the list so that Nokia gets a direct feedback and can improve the device and software. Thanks !

Any suggestions for improving my efficiency?
These are the two methods I've come up with to use what I have for making movies. One is for DVDs. The other is for making QuickTime MOV files for CDs. This is the process I have to use because we don't yet have our digital video camera that is firewire compatible with Final Cut.
For DVDs that will play in DVD players or media software on your computer:
1. I take the Video_TS folder and run it through DVD Imager (free, macupdate.com) which converts it into an IMG file.
2. I use the Apple Disk Utility (part of OS X) and burn the IMG file to a DVD.
Simple enough.
Making our recorded footage editable in Final Cut and then exporting as a QuickTime movie is a little more complicated. There may be a simpler way to do all this (like get a fire-wire FC-compatible camera I can capture footage from) but this is the process I finally got to work:
1. In the Video_TS folder are two VOB files. The larger one is the one that actually has your video on it. I use MPEG Streamclip (free, squared5.com) to remove the timebreaks (otherwise all you get is the poster frame) and convert it to a Quicktime MOV file. For settings, I just use Apple Video, 720x480 NTSC, and 30 fps. You need to buy the Apple Quicktime MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20, apple.com) for this free software to work.
2. Import the MOV file into Final Cut (I use Express which is $300 from apple.com) and do your editing and other yumminess. You'll need to render it first.
3. Export as an MOV file ... there's no .mov extension and the Info says it's a Final Cut Express Movie file, not a QT MOV which makes me nervous so I I open it in QuickTime Pro ($30, apple.com) and export it using the Movie to Quicktime Movie setting.
4. Then I burn my Quicktime movies to a CD.

If what you want is just to make copies of a DVD you burned yourself (eg using iDVD or your DVD camcorder) there is a simpler way: just create an image of the DVD on your desktop using Disk Utility, and then burn it using Disk Utility.
You need to go into the process of copying the VIDEO_TS folder only if you want to make changes to it. For example you might need myDVDEdit, a very powerful free editor of the DVD structure (to change the menu button behaviour, or so). Or maybe if the image is of a different size, from a small DVD to a large one.

Can I use my old Droid X for my kids to play games?
I upgraded to a Razor and did a reset on my old Droid X. I thought that it would just come back up and use WiFi to download games.

I'm not sure what is going on but try this.
Open a program which allows you to edit text (on Windows I would suggest NotePad but I don't know what to use on MAC) You want a very simple text editor.
Type your username as you want it.
Highlight it and copy it to the clipboard. Go to the log on page and paste in the name from the clipboard.
Maybe that will work.
All I can think of about the first character becoming an upper case character is that it reminds me of some word processing programs - such as Word or Works - which always assume the first word of a sentence will begin with a capital letter and they change it for you.
I don't know why this would be happening in your case, but that is what it reminds me of.
Is there a spelling add-on or plug-in that might be coming into play here?
I assume that you have no problems at work (you say this is happening on your home computer) so I would begin to look at differences between the two as to software installed, browser add-ons and plug-ins, etc.
Maybe someone at the computer department at the school can help you track this down.
