Suggestion for Music Store Problems

After installing iTunes 5 I lost my connection to the Music Store and went through loads of hassle with my router, firewall etc. to try and solve it.
This is what worked in the end, for me:
*PLEASE READ RIGHT THROUGH, AND DON'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS YOU FEEL CONFIDENT AND HAVE ACCESS TO A RECENT BACKUP OF YOUR SYSTEM*
Uninstall iTunes, don't restart yet
Uninstall Quicktime, don't restart yet
Search in Windows Explorer, including hidden files/folders, for folders called Apple Computer and delete
Search in Windows Explorer, including hidden files/folders, for folders called Quicktime and delete
Run regedit and delete the entries for Apple Computer Inc. from HKEY LOCAL MACHINE and HKEY CURRENT USER
Use a program like Advanced Uninstaller http://www.softforall.com/Utilities/Uninstallers/AdvancedUninstaller_PRO200309150005.htm
to delete temp files and repair the registry
Then, restart, reinstall iTunes, and Bob should with any luck be your uncle.

  • Problem: iTunes 6. Can't authorize for music store

    Greetings,
I am having a problem with iTunes 6. It all installed fine and plays music i've loaded on from CD. But when i click on a purchased song it tells me it is not authorized and that i must authorize it.
I enter my user and password and it first tell me that the Authorization was successful. I click OK.
Then an error message comes up which reads: "We could not complete your Music Store request. An unknown error occurred (-208).
There was an error in the Music Store. Please try again later"
    I click OK.
If I then try to play a purchased song, it immediately crashes iTunes. It just disappears.
When I open it again and i log into my Music Store account, it tells me that i do have this computer authorized. It's the only computer i have authorized right now because i recently reset all my authorizations.
So, it says it's authorized and i go to click on a purchased song and then i just repeat all the steps above. It doesn't work.
Does anyone have any insight into this problem or any steps of how i may be able to make this work?
The message does say it's a Music Store error and try again later. I've been trying off an on for about 3 or 4 days now.
    Thanks!
    SIMON

    Simon hello,
    Quit iTunes...
Download Cocktail and start the program... click on the 'interface' Icon and tick 'Show Invisible Items' then click the Restart button...
In a finder window click on the Icon that is your Boot Volume in the Side Bar ... select users ... select shared folder ... select the folder named 'SC info' and put it in the trash and empty it ... Do Not touch any other file.
Pathway looks like this HD > users > shared > SC info > SC Info.sidb
Go back to the Cocktail 'interface' window and untick Show Invisible Items and click restart .. quit Cocktail.
Start iTunes after deletinng this folder and it will prompt you to enter your authorization information again ... see now if your problem still exists...
Let's know how you get on Simon ... take care ... TP

  • Music Store Problem

I am having an issue when I perform a search in the music store. I key in the band I want to search for and "accessing music store" comes up and it looks like everything is fine. Then I get a message saying that "iTunes has encounted a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" Then I send an error report. I have rebooted and am having the same issue.
Any advice you can give will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hello again, Debiedee! And gsulliv, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Here is a very comprevensive post that Buegie made a couple months ago on the topic "iTunes encountered and error and needs to close-help!!"
I suggest reading it through, and doing those steps because, as you can read, it helped several people that posted on that thread.
Hope this reference helps you both!

  • Artwork for Music Store purchases missing

iTunes is really getting on my nerves now...I purchased and downloaded some albums from the iTunes Music Store using my iPhone. I transfered the songs to my Mac but the art work is missing. I have clicked on Get Artwork, etc. until my fingers hurt but all I get is a message in the window where the artwork should be, saying "Artwork Available When Purchased". Well, when I play a song from the album (Van Morrison / Still On Top), on the iPhone, I get the album cover art for Ray LaMontagne. Clearly there is a major disconnect between the music and the art in the ITMS or somewhere in the supply chain. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Great, now it just showed up. Nevah mind!

  • Error 502 Music store Problem

Two days now, trying to connect: There was an error in Music Store. Could not purchase "unknown". Please Try again later.
Any clues to fixing this ?
    Thanks,
    Kim

I'm having the same problems. It started a couple of days ago when I was unable to download songs from my shopping cart. When I pressed the 'Buy Now' button, I received a 502 error. iTunes did not download my music so I tried again...then again...and again. Still nothing! I was concerned but figured there was a temporary problem. Later, I checked my email and I was astonished to find several PayPal receipts for my purchases at the iTunes store!! What a mess! Apparently when I pressed the 'Buy Now' button I was actually purchasing the songs even though I was never able to download them! I contacted support and they kindly refunded everything (which totalled over $50) without an explanation as to what happened or what an error 502 was! Tonight I tried again (thinking it was just a fluke) and received the 'credit card orders cannot be processed now...' error. Not sure what's going on. I never had this problem before. I hope they correct this soon.

  • Connection to Music Store problem

After installing iTunes 6.0.1 on my iMag G5 I've problems to connect to Music Store (Italy). The most of times I cannot connect and the program do not show errors, other times there is a timeout error connection, when I connect the connection is very very slow. The connection to all other sites are quick as usual with my ADSL line.
I look in forum to solve the problem but found nothing useful.
Now I wait for iTunes patch or upgrade, may be I return to use LimeWire.

You have to follow the directions given in a number of the other posts about getting into MSConfig.
Go to the start menu, select Run and in the dialog box under Run type MSConfig.
This takes you to the config panel.
What I think is happening is that there are certain drivers loading in your system at start-up which are conflicting with the iTunes Music Store software.
In msconfig, on the general tab, select selective startup.
Go to Services and check the box that says "hide all microsoft services" this will give you a screen which shows only the third party start-up items. Uncheck all of the items and leave only the iPod Service box checked.
Then go to the start-up tab and uncheck everything. Then check QTTask and iTunes helper.
Restart your machine and check to see if you can connect to the Music store. If so you have turned off the conflicting process. You can go back in and add items 1 at time until you find you can't hook up to the music store - then you know what the conflict was. For me it was the D-Link utility.
All you are doing is trying to isolate the one start-up item thatt is causing the conflict.
This is a time-consuming process with start-up, reboot, shut down, etc. But it is worthwhile and at the end of it you have isolated the cause of the problem.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes\Music Store Problems -Any Help Appreciated

Recently apple gave us (yes gave) a new intel Imac, after about 4 repairs to the mainboard and PSU on our 1 year old G5 Imac. Needless to say we were quite happy. Well after about 2 weeks and I think this coincides with a couple of the recent updates, Itunes started to randomly lose songs. they would deauthorize randomly and then increment the same. Well we resorted to contacting apple (under apple care now...) They have been no help nor has itunes\music store support. To their credit they have been willing to deauthorize the computes on the account 5 times in as many days. Although the emails asking the same questions over and over are quite frustrating. Currently the symptoms are:
    1) Random incrementations on authorizations for one computer
    2) Out of Memory error when you try to authorize until 5 authorizations are reached
    3) Music Store -50 error
I have checked our router and cable modem etc no problems there, I can turn off the hardware firewall and no changes are had. I don't have any suspect software running, and have removed any itunes related widgets etc. Most recently I have rolled back itunes to 6.04 but still no dice. My wife (whose computer this is) is at her wits end as she is a tried and true "mac-girl" and has managed to convince almost everyone we know to switch or at least grab an ipod and go.... Needless to say she is currently regretting that... If anyone has any ideas please let me know I am currently sitting on $300+ of music I can't even get burned to CD or listen too. Apple tech support etc has been pretty worthless and it seems like these errors are rampant atm, you would think a "We're working on it" would be coming. Oh well Thanks in Advance.

I did repair the permissions as I have learned you are suppose to. The firmware should be up to date as well. With regards to a b\u when the G5 was acting squirrelly the last thing I did was purchase an external HD to ensure that we ddidn't lose the music. Is the common problem the 10.4.7 update or the Itunes 6.05? I have rolled back to Itunes 6.04 but haven't touched the OS. It's not something I really want to do but at this point will try almost anything.

  • Downloading from music store problems

so i'm downloading The YEah Yeah yeahs song "Tick" along with a bunch of other songs from the music store...but the server won't respond and complete the download! that being said, i can't download the rest of the music that i paid for! How do i cancel a download?

On a related note - how come there are unavailable songs in the Music Store? I thought CMW gave free access to the entire store for a year?
I can understand how in some cases there's an internal server error (or simply a file missing), as seems to be the case with Infinite Mass' "She's a freak" from the album "The Face" (annoying, but at least something that will be rectified, right? right?). But there's also albums like Heaven & Hell's "The Devil You Know" where when I click the download arrow, all I get is a grey cross - nothing even gets added to the dl queue and no error message. Feels as though the license doesn't cover CMW dl's, only purchases? Or as is the case with The Enemy, where the song Silver Spoon off of their latest album is simply greyed out, and the dl arrow isn't even clickable...
These are just three examples off the top of my head, I've encountered more (not very frequently, but still) - it's particularly annoying when it's just the one song that's not downloadable...

  • N5800 XpressMusic, Music store problem

    Hello,
I have a problem with phone music store applications. After i start music store i can't login or go to main page because when i press those buttons i get error "Music store: Unable to perform operation"  Tried to do hard reset and update firmware again with no help. FW: 40.0.005.
I think this problem came with this new V40 firmware or shortly after that when i lost email notification from shortcut homescreen.
Is there anything what i can do to repair music store?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you are convinced that it's not a network problem, then you could try a factory reset, its like the 7370 reset only a little more agressive, it will wipe everything, other than the firmware.
I believe its power off, hold down RED, Green and Camera Buttons whilst powering up to the hands logo.
Be warned though... this will put your phone to the state it would have been had it been a brand new one.

  • MUSIC STORE PROBLEM RIGHT?

Once again I have upgraded to a newer version of iTunes and once again same problem happens. The music store is unaccessable. It usually takes a day or two till you can access it. Apple seriously needs to fix this problem.

I have upgraded and can't access the music store. my app crashes each time it tries. i've downloaded the software twice with the same problem each time. no virus protection active or anythingelse to interfer. can we have a step by step to solve the problem?

  • What Network Firewall Ports Needed For Music Store?

My PC is on a network that is firewalled to the the Internet. All ports are blocked except for those explicitely enabled, such as port 25 for E-mail, port 80 for browsing, etc.
When the Windows Firewall is disabled, my PC cannot get past the the Music Store's home page. All links are inoperative.
When I connect my PC to another router/firewall, that bypasses my network's firewall, I can navigate the music store.
I believe I have a blocked port issue when the PC is connected to my network.
Can anyone tell me what Internet/TCP ports I need to have open for the iTunes music store and for QuickTime?
    Thanks for the assist.
    Regards.

    hiya!
Since you say that iTunes is using standard browser ports, then perhaps it's my network's Proxy Server that iTunes doesn't work well with.
it might be worth checking on these possibilities:
iTunes for Windows can't access the Internet if proxy settings are incorrect

  • MP3 player for music store

    Hi
We're building a music store for a record label and wondered if anyone could share experiences in getting MP3 to stream. We need something akin to the iTunes simplicity.
IE click a play button and hear x seconds of preview. Nothing more than that. No fancy displays or song titles etc needed.
    Fingers crossed.
    Cheers
