Suggestion: Home button setting needs more apps listed

I would like to set my Camera as the app that loads when I press my Home button twice, but right now owners are stuck with iPod, Favorite contacts, and the Home screen as the only options available. I'd like to see at least most of the default apps listed in the next release please.

Although I think screenshots of 3.0 say more options are coming with the summer update. Just a vague recollection, and betas change, but I think maybe Camera was an option, but not most of the default apps. I think it was only a couple more options.

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers did not bring up the app preview. A single press on the home button still brings me back to the home screen, but a double press of the home button does nothing following updating to 7.1 Given that, when I added a software home button as suggested by DIAVONEX, I found that all of the apps WERE still open! So thank you DIAVONEX, and you should be careful, bobseufert, as your information was inaccurate.( I did try turning it off and that didn't change anything. ) I don't really want a software home button on my screen, but I guess I will use it until either there is another update to resolve this glitch or someone else identifies a quirky setting that I inadvertently activated...

Home Button set to custom double tap and can't disable to multitask

So I guess on my restore it pulled all my settings in which includes the custom home button setting for double tap. There doesn't seem to be a way to disable this. I can only change it to another choice, but can't un-check it.
How do I stop this feature so I can get to multitasking by 2x tapping home?

No multitask support on the 3G. Which also came with no orientation lock on 3G.

Holding Home button down to Close Apps

Hi everyone, i have recntly purchased an iPhone and have read thousands of posts to just get all the info i can. I saw somewhere that said if you hold down the Home button it closes the app, rather then just suspending it. Coming from a Windows Mobile Device, i hate the memory leaks caused by apps staying open in the background. Now i know the iPhone does things differenlty by suspending it but still is there any harm to this habit of holding down the Home button rather than just hitting it.

I too know memory leaks can and will happen. I however instead of doing the force quit with holding the home button, I have opted for the Reboot (not turning off and on) method of at least once a week.

Before doing that, I would get issues with some apps (Safari most of all), but now it is very rare I get an issue with any application. If one ever does happen most times it has once again been with Safari and with some site I have never visted before that seems to be very bloated with ads and other plugins. When that happens I reboot right then just to get a clean slate again.

When I double tap the home button and delete open apps, they will just re appear if I double tap home again,...

I always delete my open apps but since i did the lates update the apps wont delete they will just re appear when i double tap home again,.. Whyyy??

For clarification purpose:
You start by double clicking the Home button to reveal the screen as shown above. You then swipe upwards on the App Previews to clear all recently used Apps and end up with a screen like below?
You then tap the Home button to return to normal screen. Then you immediately double tap the Home button again to see all the recently used Apps as shown in the first picture? My undertanding is that when you double-click the home button, the apps that are shown are those that are currently active. The reason you are not seeing all of them is that not all of them are active. Before you can access an app in the multitask bar, it has to be turned on first. As a test, try accessing the Notes application. Return to the home screen by clicking the Home button ONCE. Once the home screen appears, double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar. The Notes app should be on the far left.

Yes they are both on the same network and I enabled air play on the TV. I finally located the icon on my iPad last night and succeeded in mirroring. It seems the instructions from apple were confusing me. They said tap the home button twice and then scroll to the right. The icon however is on the left side of the screen and shows as what I would call a button as opposed to an icon, located among the buttons of a mini player. Anyway, found it last night and now am enjoying the mirroring feature. Thanks for all the help.

Duble-clicking the Home button brings up iPod app

Don't know if this is normal, or some kind of a software glitch ...
My iPad is *passcode locked*. But, if I double click on Home button, before sliding the power on, this brings up the iPod app and anyone can listen to my music, thus bypassing the passcode.
Any thoughts on this? Software version is 4.2.1

That "music" could very well be confidential voice memos. And I didn't ask here for anyone's agreement or disagreement, but for help in a case I was missing something.

On my 3gs w OS4 I want to set my "home" button to start the camera but can't find the setting.

IPAD HOME BUTTON - FEEDBACK NEEDED PLEASE!

Hi,
Just had a replacement iPad following a fault with the volume button. I was not allowed a brand new one despite only having had it 27 days! I was given a replacement from a brown unmarked box and was assured that thisnwas brand new.
Had it two days and the home button feels a little loose and clicky. Is this common that you can feel some play with the home button or am I just being too picky about it all.
Could really do with finding out if others are like this. So that I have something of credibility to take to the apple store.

Clicky when you push it, definitely. Loose - not at all. No movement aside from the inward movement when it is pressed.

Need more App Space

Please, can Apple upgrade the amount of space for Apps on the iPod Touch? I could use 5 times the alloted disk space. It would also be nice to have a category setup similar to the iTunes store with the capability to create ones own categories. I have a 32 gb iPod Touch and use it almost exclusively for apps. I have a 60gb iPod Video and a 120gb iPod Classic for music. If Apple is worried about users nuking their music, etc., Apple can put some "logic" in the expansion of disk space for Apps to prevent this from happening on both the iPhone and iPod Touch. Make the disk space user controllable for those who need extra space. Thanks, Mac user since 1984, Apple user since 1981. Still have my AppleII Plus, IIGS, IIc, and all my Macs - about 15-20, including powerbooks(5). Please take up the channel

Complete setup with openbox. Do I need more apps?

I'm doing some research on openbox just to be as ready as possible when I try it out. Going from ubuntu
to arch with xfce wasn't too big of a deal, but openbox is another story (as far as I can see ). I'm used
to having a complete DE so I've got a couple of questions concerning using a WM. I'm also aiming for a
lightweight system that looks good.
This is the list of apps I'm planning to use. I know openbox doesn't have a session manager, but some
kind of autostart thingy. Is there any session manager apps or will the autostart script be enough?

Anything I seek for is some good lightweight GUI editor, with highliting (fluxbox, xml, sh, ...), because console editors are sometimes not so good (for me) while editing files with longer lines, paste from for example browser etc. I meen mcedit is not good in this way, and I think its still good enough for me to swich to some nano/vi etc.

I tried to restore my ipod but I couldnt because the itunes wont show up`on my computer and I held the power button and the home button at the same time and let go but kept on pressing the home button for 10 more seconds and now my ipod wont turn on

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
