Suggestion on cloud storage that allows streaming of media

Hi All
Looking for an online service that will allow me to store my photos, music and videos and have the ability to stream them to my iPhone.
Planning in getting the iPhone 5.  I'm aware of iCloud.  but this seems to have limitations.  like for example,  if I take pictures with the phone.. I want to have the ability to upload them, delete the original from the phone and still be able to stream it back to the phone.  If I understand correctly.. iCloud will sync.. so if I delete the photo from the phone.  it will be deleted from iCloud and that's not going to work for me.  it also doesn't allow the upload of my music it only finds a match.... when there is one.
The main idea is to save space on the phone.
Thanks

If you have photostream turned on in icloud, you can upload those pictures onto your computer and save them there. Then you can delete them from photostream and you will still have a copy elsewhere. You can them sync them from your computer to your phone via itunes. You are correct in saying that if you delete the pic from photostream on your phone that it will be deleted off icloud, but if you save it to your computer, it won't matter if it's in the icloud server or not. That way, you can take a pic on the phone, have it go wirelessly to your computer, save it to your computer, and remove it from your phone to save space

  • How do I connect two workstations to shared storage that allows them to work independently on the same project non-destructively?

I plan to edit a feature length film using Adobe Premiere CC. I need to know the "Adobe-way" of connecting two workstations to shared storage that allows them to work independently on the same project non-destructively. Is Adobe Anywhere the answer? None of the humans I spoke to seem to know anything about their own product. I also cannot find a price for Adobe Anywhere, anywhere on the Adobe website.

You need to contact Adobe on this:

  • Can anyone recommend cloud storage that I can use with my AppleTV?

I'm looking to get 2TB for my music and films can anyone recommend one that I can use with my AppleTV? Preferably with cloud too.

    Thanks Rudegar
Apparently there is a way of doing it using the WD live book (which i know is not technoically cloud but that is what WD refer to it as). As you have said it can stream from iTunes, but if you store your movie file on your network drive and point iTunes at it, it will work. Apparently its easy, file / add file to library - then navigate to the folder location via the file path.
I'll be trying this as soon as a test unit gets here and I'll update you.

  • Cloud storage that stores all data

Is there a cloud service for the Ipad that can store all data from pictures and download? im looking for one that leaves the base storage of the ipad untouched and takes all data.
example: I buy Clash Of Clans the data for the download would automatically go to the cloud service and not touch the 16gb on the ipad yet i can still play the game as if it was downloaded and put on my storage.
example: i take a picture and that pictures data goes straight to the cloud service. But the picture is in my gallery

As has been said Apps need to by physically on the device to be able to run. Which means they will need to take up part of those 16GB.
For Photos and other files, there are Apps such as Photobucket, Dropbox, even Google Drive that will let you store everything on their servers and view them through there Apps, however they will not be available through the Photos App int he case of Photos. or Other installed App on the iPad unless they have access to such services.
Basically, the automation you want is simply not possible.

  • NAS / Cloud solution that allows offline support for most commonly used files.

    Hi All,
I bought a Macbook Air because I love to travel light.  Sadly because of the lack of disk space I struggle to store everything. I live by the 80/20 rule and recognise that I use 20% of the files 80% of the time.
I would like to store all my files (music, photos, etc.) in the cloud or on NAS. I would then like Air to automatically store a subset of files stored locally based on  limits I set (favourites, certain photos albums, playlists, and most commonly used files) aka the 20% of files I use 80% of the time.  I would then like it so that if I was connected to the internet, I could access any file (without having to use some alternative application / website to access them).
Does anyone know of a way to do this?

  • Photo cloud storage

Can anyone recommend a cloud storage that I can upload all my photos from all devices to view, share, etc?

Hang on a while for the  new photos app and the iCloud Photo Library.

  • When you purchase extra cloud storage, does that allow more storage for music, apps, and so forth to be downloaded?

When you purchase extra cloud storage, does that allow more storage for music, apps, and so forth to be downloaded?

So only documents? it doesnt store pictures, videos, or any of that stuff? or it doesnt store settings to your applications? I just want to know how exactly iCloud can effectively help me with storage because I only have a 16 gb ipod 4s. I have already decided I will not download any music onto it or videos

  • I purchased extra cloud storage and it shows 51 GB available yet there's no room for anything. How do I allocate that available storage?

Whoa, it sounds like you're confusing two very different things.
iCloud initially comes allowing 5GB of free storage (for backups, etc.).
Your iPad (or are you talking about an iPhone in the wrong forum?) comes with some number of tens of gigabytes of storage, which cannot be added to.
So something doesn't make sense in your comment.

I'd put them on an external hard drive(s) and burn them to a DVD as well (at least 2 - 3 copies on different drives/media); I prefer having control and a local solution instead of relying on a server and the possibility of someone (who shouldn't be)  downloading my work.

I went to icloud but it only govers me options to increase storage from my iPhone or a synced computer (mac or PC).

If the phone is offline there is no way to track it or send a message to it.  You can place it in lost mode to lock it and send it a message (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f0165), but this will not take place until the phone goes back online, if it ever does.  If it does, you will get an email informing you.

I agree with teh OWC sggestion above, but why must it be USB powered? I find that far more unreliable, and the low power devices slow.
I'd frankly get a good external enclosure and buy a bare drive.  But the OWC stuff is quite good - vastly better than some of the majors (WD being aprime example of stuff that's boderline quality and often not compatible)

  • IPhone 5; iOS 8.1.2: How do I remove a deleted App from Cloud storage so that I may do a fresh install from the App Store?

I Deleted a faulty App in order to do a fresh re-install from the App Store - but it keeps installing from Cloud storage and I don't know whether this is the original App.
How do I stop this happening?

An app cannot self install. If you are using the App Store app see the app listed with a cloud icon, it means that app was downloaded previously but it is no longer on your device. Tap the cloud icon to redownload the app.

Once again, my thanks for your assistance. If I may impose on your generosity one more time, if I understand you correctly if I create a document on Word or WordPerfect, print it and scan it to create a pdf, the search function will not work. But, if I create the pdf document in Word the search function will work. Unfortunately, I am not sure how I create a pdf document in Word other than by printing it and scanning it. Could you please explain.
