Suggestion to include '@' for email input keypad i...

I wonder how many of you find it a bit annoying, that while trying to enter an email address (e.g for contacts) in landscape mode one has to switch to numeric mode (pressing '1*') just to get that '@'. Would be nice to have that '@' just there in first screen (pre-filled) and cursor placed just ahead of that.

Generally speaking, a full redesign would be nice; I find swype keyboard much smarter from design point of view (and still by Nokia).

  • Z10 auto suggest not working for email addresses

    My Z10 will suggest contacts from my address book. However!!-- it won't auto suggest not in contacts. On my previous BB's, I could start typing, and it would begin to suggest addresses I'd written to/received mail from before. I hope I'm not confusing so here's an example. I only recall the first letters of an old friend's email but not the rest. Or I received a mail from a company, want to contact again, and can't find the email. Why won't my device do this? I don't and never have added everything to contacts. Have latest update . Thx for any help.

    Hi NCtrans,
    That is correct. The BlackBerry Z10 will only suggest the most frequently used contacts. If the email address is not in your contacts list, it will not appear as a suggestion.
    Thanks.

  • Proper syntax for email function including a repeat region

    Hey Guys, a fellow ADDT developer and myself ran into a odd challenge recently and was wondering if someone knew a shorter answer.
    LET ME BE CLEAR..I’m not looking for a suggestion, we have resolved the problem..we ARE LOOKING FOR PROPER or shortest FORMAT.
    (we used a submit redirect to a php page that used the “Send Page Section”  and then redirected back..the email looks great)
    This may be a mood point since ADDT is going away but, until then, we feel this will be an useful post because quite often you may have multiple products to email from your SQL statement.
    With that said. We used the send email function on submit.
    1.       Our email content was a HTML content file. Since it was not a php file our repeat region obviously did not work.
    2.       We substituted the HTML file for PHP (just for giggles)..no joy
    3.       We tried regular content as a string..no joy
    We know how to get single rows with the  {table.column} format…but we need to list all undetermined number of products/rows.
    So how would the string or function re-write look  if you needed a repeat region.
    EX:
    emailContent (“ this” . ‘does’. “work”);  regular string
    emailContent (“ this” . $var   . “work”);  regular string
    emailContent (“ this” .   do{  $row; } while( xxx = xxx)  . “work”);  DOES NOT WORK
    emailContent (“ this” .   while( xxx = xxx)  {  $row; }   . “work”);     DOES NOT WORK
    I assume the conflict is you can’t have a function like DO or While in the string….but I also can’t use a php include file.
    There must be a shorter, cleaner syntax that won’t require an advanced set of arrays or for each???
    so  how would a nice clean example of  repeat region results  inside email content, or include file for email contnent, look?
    Thanks

    David, in theory I agree with you, but to a large degree I am completely changing the logic of my human interface. My existing code pre-processes the raw data and saves the results to disk for any future usage.
    It can then rapidly rebuild all pages for the entire Intranet site when your personal view of the data is changed.
    After the full creation of all pages, the fixed pages can be viewed using your browser.
    When you want to change your view, you run the code which completely rebuilds every Intranet page.
    My new software will approach the data differently.  My raw data will be stored with no pre-processing. The pre-processing will occur as the user changes dates and the pages will be built individually on demand, one at a time.
    The second phase of my Windows Form app will be to create pop-up windows that allow the users to modify the definitions for their custom views of the market.
    When a view is changed, the software will be able to pre-process, as needed, the current date’s data and rebuild the current page with any new changes.
    I intend to create a Refresh.cpp file.  The various segments of the Form’s code will set variable such as date change, view changed, watch list changed, etc. and then call Refresh().
    The refresh code will then be able to do the minimum recalculation necessary to rebuild the proper HTML stream.
    This is another reason to break up the code into various cpp segments such as: LoadRawData, RecalculateViews, BuildPage, etc.
    PS: David, I tried to send you a personal e-mail using your home page link.
    Hope that was OK and not against forum rules!

  • Including an email address on a web page without it being harvested for spam

    As per the title really - anyone know of a method of including an email address on a web page without it being picked up by spam bots?
     Usually if i want to avoid that, I just do a little form with a honey trap, but I'm working on a page that needs contact details for around 100 places, so doing 100 odd forms for a single page might be a little impractical.... Thanks.

    Run it inside a script that parses an XML file based on the link's ID - one script, many links, no directly visible mail addresses (though, of course bots can still parse the XML file itself, if not in a hidden directory or something liek that).

  • 451 4.7.0 Timeout waiting for client input

    My organization is running Small Business Server 2008 with Exchange.  After installing Exchange users reported not reciveing emails from Comcast and a few other domains.  Looking at the logs, domains including gmail and comcast are unable to deliver email to our Exchange mailboxes.  They receive an error message like the following.
    Technical details of temporary failure:
    Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 451 451 4.7.0 Timeout waiting for client input (state 18).
    Other domains send just fine. Any ideas what is causing the 451 4.7.0 connection timeout error message?  The following is an example SMTPReceive log.

    I had a similar issue with fortigate firewall. I could not able to resolve this issue with fortigate. Fortunately I had a Cisco PIX firewall in my stock. Eventhough it is not a best practise I have replaced the fortigate firewall with Cisco PIX mail flow
    started perfectly without any issues.
    If any fortigate experts are seeing this forum please suggest what has to be done for solving this issue.
    I have escalated this case to fortigate and they resolved the issue by executing the following commands on the fortigate firewall.
    set tcp-mss-sender1452
    set tcp-mss-receiver1452

  • Best Practices for ASAP Inputs - As-Is Business Process Mapping

    I am new to the SAP world and my company is in the early phases of implementation.  I am trying to prepare the "as-is" business process maps for the Project Preparation and Business Blueprint phases and I am looking for some best practices.  I've been told that we don't want them to go too deep but are there best practices and/or examples that give more information on what we should be capturing and the format.
    I have searched the forums, WIKI, ASAP documentation, and other areas but have not found much at this level of detail.  I have reviewed the [SAP BPM Methodology|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SAPBPX/BPM+Methodology] but again I am looking for more detail if anyone can direct me to that.
    Thank you in advance for any assistance.
    Kevin

    Hello Kevin,
    You can try to prepare a word document for each of your As-Is processes first before going to As-Is Process Design in a flowchart.
    The word document can have 7 sections -
    The first section can include Name of the Process Owner, Designation, Process Responsibility, User Department(s) involved, Module Name and a Document number for reference.
    The second section can include Process Definition details - Name of the major process, Name of the minor process, Name of the sub process and a Process ID for future reference.
    The third section can be titled as Inputs - this contains details of - Input, Vendor for the input, Type of Input (Data / Activity / Process), Category of Input (Vital / Essential / Desirable) and Mode of Information (Hard / Soft Copy).
    The fourth section can be Process Details. Here you can write the process in detail.
    The fifth section to contain outputs of the process, customer to whom these outputs are sent, type of output (report / approval / plan / request / email / fax), Category of Output (Vital / Essential / Desirable) and Mode of Information (Hard / Soft Copy).
    The sixth section can be Issues / Pain Areas in this process - Issue Description, Remarks, Expectations, Priority (High / Medium / Low)
    The seventh section can be expected reports in future out of this process for internal and external reporting.
    Hope this helps your question.

  • How can I reduce the amount of user prompts for Email setup in Apple Configurator?

    I am working on deploying profiles via Apple's new Apple Configurator which allows me to install apps and settings exactly how I want them. My question pertains to the email setup where anything left blank in the payload gets prompted on the device for user input. Is there anyway to have the user only enter in their user name and password once and use that for the SMTP outgoing settings as well? I'd like to reduce the user interaction to a minimal.Currently they enter in their full name, email address, user name for incoming, password for incoming, and then user name AGAIN for outgoing (I checked the box for 'Outgoing password same as incoming'). Is there anyway to retain the username and avoid having the user enter it in twice?
    If not, I can make do with how it is, but was rather curious if this is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I'll try this again starting it as new, but when I restored it before (after deleting all the apps and music off it) it didn't help.  Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Receive file too big for email

    For me, the most significant function missing from iCloud is the iDisk Public Folder option so clients can send me files which exceed email attachment size limits.
    These are not files to be shared publicly, and most of my clients are governmental entities with restricted networks so users cannot join a file-sharing service, but they could simply upload files to my iDisk Public Folder.
    Without Public Folder we're back to burning CD/DVD and snail mail.
    Alternatives?

    Dolby 2.0 and .aiff are both audio files - the .aiff is not compressed, but the Dobly 2.0 is an AC3 file and will be about a tenth the size of the other, and run at a far lower bitrate.
    Compressor produces both files by default when you use 'All' with one of the pre-sets. If you don't want them both, remove one from the batch window, or create your own pre-set which doesn't include the unwanted version.
    Dolby 2.0 refers to it being a stereo track with 2.0 channels, it isn't a later version of Dolby.
    When the encoding is complete, bring both the video and the required audio (I suggest the AC3 for space and bandwidth) into DVDSP and use them in a track for authoring to DVD.

    I cant print from firefox 3.6.6. anymore (but it works for emails), I'm on OS X 10.5.8:
    URGENT, I NEED TO PRINT TODAY !
    whenever I need to print something from a web page it doesn't connect to my printer (Samsung ML-1270) but my printer works fine and I have no problems printing e-mails
    == a while ago already with older versions of firefox, but I didn't realize the problem is firefox so I can't tell exactly when it started

    Posted this elsewhere too; odd thing is both Safari AND Chrome work just fine. Did the suggestions but nothing fixed it, including deleting the app and trying to downgrade to a couple of versions back.
    Printing or even print preview on FF results in a blank page. Tried updating the "Add On" but that didn't do anything either. May have to give up on using FF. This is for my mother-in-law's machine and it works fine on my MacBook Pro at home. She's using an iMac with OS X 10.6.4 and this started with a recent upgrade.

    I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (Format MVI_.AVI) and load them into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all.  Any simple suggestions, I am not real keen on iMovie Productions and not real certain how they compress for emailing attachments.  Something simple here that I am missing?  Thanks so much.  I am a grandpa trying to share with family members far away (quickly & simply).

    I am surprised that Apple did not build a converter into Mt. Lion.
    Apple does have a converter built into Mountain Lion. It is call "Quicktime." However, in order to use this converter, you must first make sure the compression formats are playback compatible with QT. Basically, there are three levels of QT compatibility. The lowest is "Playback." These file can be played by QT but may not be conversion or edit compatible with QT. The second level is QT "Conversion" compatible. These files are playback compatible and can be converted to other compression formats using QT. "Edit" compatible media files are "Fully" compatible with QT since the can be played, converted and/or edited by QT. The main problem here is that AVI is a "legacy" file format that has not been officially supported by Microsoft for more than 11 years when it was replaced by Windows Media multimedia file/compression formats. Many of the original compression formats used in AVI files have never been transcoded for the Mac platform, use beyond system 9, or use beyond PPC platforms. In addition, some commonly used AVI codecs are proprietary or use non-standard (hybrid) profile and level combinations. In short, there is little wonder that Apple has been distancing itself from this outdated file type as it re-writes and upgrades its own QT structure to support more standardized, more scalable, more modern high definition file types and compression formats. It is really unfortunate that users continue to use this outmoded file type simply because it is freely available, easy to use, or they are simply too lazy to move on to a more modern or more efficient file types and/or compression formats.
    I tested Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for the Mac, which seems to be the "state of the art".  I may be purchasing a new camera which might create a whole new set of variables.  This program seems to cover all bases and is great for novices.
    There are many third-party apps available if you wish to search for them. Many are even available in the App Store. Most do their job well and it is usually a matter of personal user preference as to which is best.
    HandBrake seems more suited to folks with more experience and knowledge.
    I mentioned Handbrake primarily because it is free and easy to use when you employ the included conversion presets options. (The TV options can normally be used for almost any situation depending on the source file and output requirements.) It is also excellent for more experienced users, but has a somewhat limited choice of output options as it does not access the user's system QT codec component configuration.

  • How to make Flash to wait for user input

    Hi,
    I found this PHP script, then I made some changes to make it
    FEED the Flash user interface with online user input.
    The main concept of this script is WAITING for user input, so
    it shows the messages and then go to next line and so on.
    The user input go to directly to TEXT file which writes in
    lines, each line has a unique id = (mag_id).
    There "get_msge.php" which works as the middleware between
    FLASH and messages text file.
    The problem, its doesn’t show any data while there are
    data in the text file.
    Help here please, best regards.
    This is the link of
    problem illustartion
    AS is:
    // create an object to store the variables
    varReceiver = new LoadVars();
    // load the variables from the text file
    varReceiver.load("get_msg.php?file_id=1&msg_id=1",
    "POST");
    // trigger something - when the variables finish loading
    varReceiver.onLoad = function(){
    //the variables have finished loading
    if (this.msg_id == 1) {
    _root.xmsg1_swf.text = this.msg;
    _root.xmsg1_ch.text = this.msg;
    gotoAndPlay("line2");
    } else {WAIT }
    PHP is:
    <?php
    //get these values from the FLASH
    $file_id_swf = $_POST ['file_id'];
    $file_name = "messages/messages".$file_id_swf.".txt";
    $msg_id_swf = $_POST ['msg_id'];
    // [0] ."||".[1] ."||".[2] ."||". [3] ."||".[4]."||". [5].
    //$msg_id."||".date."||".time."||".$from."||".$to."||".$msg.
    $fp = fopen ($file_name, 'rb');
    while (!feof ($fp))
    $msg_txt = fgets ($fp, 1024);
    $line = explode ("||", $msg_txt);
    $msg_id = $line[0];
    $from = $line[3];
    $to = $line[4];
    $msg = utf8_encode ($line[5]);
    if ($msg_id == $msg_id_swf)
    echo
    "msg_id=".$msg_id."&from=".$from."&to=".$to."&msg=".$msg;
    }//while
    fclose ($fp);
    ?>

    Well, given the things that you've written, I don't think it
    could. There technically isn't any code in flash that lets it
    "wait." In order to "wait," you must run the script over again
    until some condition is met.
    However, your code does look accurate. Why do you need to
    wait? The onLoad function will be invoked WHEN something is loaded.
    So, I don't see the reason for the "waiting."
    In addition to that, I would like to say that using text
    files isn't that great with flash. I have done this before and
    noticed several problems with using text files. The biggest problem
    is that the text files are cached after being loaded. Every time
    you re-load it again, you will get what you got the first time
    until you reset your cache (ie. close your browser). I suggest
    using MySQL. (Just my thought.)

    When I try to open an .ai/pdf file received through my email, it won't open and asks for a password. I have never set up any kind of password for email security, but have tried typing in my standard passwords. Nothing works. I wonder if it has anything to do with the use of my Wacom3 Tablet...I've been having trouble with it and was getting the same message when trying to open the User's Manual in my Applications/WacomTablet file on my hard drive. Any suggestions? I just downloaded the latest version for the Wacom and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (which I hate, and my CS3 hates, etc.)
