Suggestion: Track Listing Order Illogical

I love using itunes but one thing I stumbled on to that really bugs me is that when I sort songs through the category, "Artist" the album tracks go out of order. I checked and this is true for every artist I own. The order isn't even alphabetical (which wouldn't be that great either). The ordering should go Artist>Album>Track, so that we can hear the songs played in the order they were meant to be heard. I can't even make sense of the current system, but track order is essential outside of shuffle.

  • Sleek and Zen Media Explorer Track Listing Order.

    Hey all,
Been lovin' my Sleek for the last 2 months with just one, minor, issue; today I got a little frustrated so I'm here to ask you about it.
Normally I rip CDs using the Creative Media Organizer and then use the Zen Media Explorer to "import" and add the new songs to my playlist. Unfortunately in the ZM "Edit Playlists" window, the upper left window (titled "Creative Zen Sleek") has a list of folders by artist, where I would much prefer to list folders by album name.
For example I might see Beatles in the "B" section, but then a different album might have been listed as "The Beatles" so it's in the "T" section. A lot of my albums are compilations with many different artists playing songs I'm not totally familiar with (jazz for example) and when I see a name I have no idea what song it refers to.
Is there a way to change that Manage Playlists window so it displays the album name instead of the artist name? I've tried looking in settings, etc., but nothing obvious leaps out at me.
    <IMG src="http://www.us-picks.com/zenplaylists.jpg">
Please don't tell me to use Windows Media Player to do the transfers; it's counterintuiti've to me and takes longer.
    Thank you,
    D.

I think the folder structure you're seeing in ZME (\"Music"\artist name\album name\tracks) is part of how Microsoft organizes MTP-type players (including all US Sleeks); I have the same structure in my 2.x-firmware Micro. There's no way to change that.
I think micromouse's solution (use MediaSource for transfers as well as rips) is the best; MediaSource has its own library database and may not be constrained by Microsoft's folder structure. (The internal library in Creative's MTP-type players isn't constrained by the folder structure either.)

  • HT1849 Is there a bonus track on the 20/20 pre-order album? I hear a song but it's not listed on the track list.

I was one of the lucky Tennessee Kids who got to listen to Part 2 of The 20/20 Experience on iTunes a week before the album was released. Of course, I listened to the album on repeat the ENTIRE week, but I noticed that there was a song at the end of the album that was not listed on the track list. Is this a bonus track that is only available when you pre-order? It's on the album as if the last song is over 11 minutes long, but it's a completely separate song, so I don't know if it's an addition to the song or if it's a hidden bonus track.
I was going to purchase the album when it's released on Monday as a "complete my album" option since I've already purchased Part 1 of The 20/20 Experience and I want the COMPLETE Experience. But I may be rethinking my methods if that last song on Part 2 is not going to be available come Monday.....

  • I have had two instances of having a downloaded album "scrambled" while playing on appletv, I.e. the track listing remaining correct but having the wrong songs play.  Once this has occurred the album does not play correctly.  Any help with this issue?

I am having problems with Apple TV scrambling albums while playing from iTunes.  The track listing remains correct but the songs play out of order and not all of the songs seem to in place, I.e. a song that played previously under one title will play as a different title.  Any thoughts or help?  Thanks.

A bit confused by your statement

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • 5300 track list problem

Hello. I have a 5300 phone that works fine, except that when I (try to) open a track list the screen goes blank for a few seconds then the phone closes the music player and returns to the homescreen.
At first I thought there was a problem with the track list I made (via Nokia PC Suite), but in fact this happens whenever I try to open any track list.
Without a track list the music player can be very annoying because it's impossible to determine the order of songs to be played.
Anyone have a clue on how to fix this?
Or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanx in advance!

    what do you mean with
"this happens whenever I try to open any track list."
Do you mean the dynamic built-in track lists like "recent" and "most played"?
If those fail, I would suspect a problem with the phone... suggest you either try a phone firmware update (even if just to reinstall the same version) with Nokia Software Updater; or return to the shop and complain.

About the random order of tracks in an Album, I've written to Nokia and got an answer... See my posts on this forum
5300: Music library "Album view" shows eAAC+ (.M4A) tracks in random, changing order
You could write to Nokia customer service yourself, and e.g. link to this or my post, to add your vote to get this fixed.

  • Multiple Issues for Fiori Track Sales Order App

    Hello,
We're experiencing quite a few issues with the Fiori Track Sales Order App and were wondering if anyone else out there had experienced anything similar and if they were able to resolve these issues.  Unfortunately, there are hardly any notes out there for the Track Orders app, so we aren't able to implement any existing fixes
1.) As mentioned in a previous post (link below), contact information is not showing in the app, even though the service is returning these contacts and they're displayed in the console.  We've had an incident open with SAP for quite some time but have yet to hear back.
Track Sales Order Fiori App - Not Displaying Contacts
2.) If the user is in the app while a delivery is created, choosing the refresh option just refreshes the overall status of the order.  The item statuses are not updated.  User has to exit the app and re-enter for changes to take effect for the items.
3.) Searching by PO Number is not working.
4.) Searching for orders in the search period only works if there is an order in the parameter maintained for the order period.  If a customer does not have any orders in the order period but does have orders in the search period maintained, orders are not found when executing a search on the server.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We're on the following service packs:

    Hi Erin,
Just FYI. This does not solve your issue but,
I see you use old UI components which were released in May 2013.
Important Note: Please use new UI with new SAP Fiori Launchpad
New UI components have UI extension points and work with new SAP Fiori Launchpad.
Please find correct components based on your Backend version.

  • Moving more than one track at a time in track list

I have lots of tracks in my track list. How do I move them all down so I can create empty space for new tracks up on top, below the Global track? It seems I can only grab and move one at a time, which is not only incredibly inefficient, it messes up the order of the tracks.
Seems there should be a way to select all the tracks at once, such as by using the shift key, then dragging the bunch of them. But alas... I can't seem to select more than one at a time.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi winky333,
It is not possible to do this in Logic. I guess they do this based on mixing etiquette where the tracks are sorted by the channels or outputs. You can create a template that has the tracks you want where you want them as a starting point. When you add a new track it always adds them under the currently selected track. So if you want a new one in a specific location is easiest to select the track above it. It is possible to sort the tracks as well. In the local menu in the Arrange window click the Track menu and then choose Sort Tracks By which has multiple options such as MIDI Channel, Audio Channel, Name, etc. I think this is a feature that should be added myself. You can always go to the Help menu in Logic and choose Provide Logic Pro Feedback and submit your feature requests/feedback there.
    Cheers

  • Keeping tracks in order in iTunes

When listening to classical music, it's important to hear the movements of a piece in the right order. How do I organize the tracks in iTunes to make sure this happens? If I have, for example, 4 tracks listed as Bartok String Quartet, I've tried listing the number of the movement before the name (1 Bartok, 2 Bartok, etc.) or after the name (Bartok 1, Bartok 2, etc.) but neither seems to work. Because I have a number of pieces that all have a first movement, alpha/numeric order won't work because then all the first movements will be together, . . . One option is to create a playlist for each piece, but that gets very unwieldy, especially on iPod. Is there another way?
      Windows XP

When listening to classical music, it's important to hear the movements of a piece in the right order.
Now, burninghouse, I'm no expert on classical music but have you really given Party Shuffle a chance to show what it can do with Bartok's String Quartet? ; - )
    Seriously, though ...
It shouldn't really be a problem.
You can sort your iTunes Library by any column criterion simply by clicking on that particular column's heading. If you click on the Album column heading so that the directional triangle is pointing up, your Library's contents will be listed by alphabetical order according to the record's name and the tracks in each album will be listed in the appropriate order.
If that's not happening, right click on each of the movements, select Get Info > Info tab and make sure the Track Numbers (1 of 4, 2 of 4, etc.) coincide with movement numbers.
Post back, if this doesn't clear things up.

  • Track listing

I have an odd problem with the track listing on some of the albums in my library. The track listing for certain albums is correct in my itunes library, but the order is incorrect on my iPod. Does anyone know why this is?

  • Track listing on 5.5G 80GB

I recently received a 5.5G 80GB as a gift for Christmas. I also own a 4G Click Wheel. My problem is this:
I recently ripped a CD from my personal collection into iTunes. I then transferred the album to both iPods. I soon discovered that one of the tracks was apparently corrupted and wouldn't play in iTunes or in either iPod. After trying to re-rip the song several times, I gave up and purchased the single song from iTunes. The song is track 8 of 9 on the CD. On iTunes and in my 4G, the song appears as track 8. However, on the 5.5G, it appears as track 1. I rechecked all of the info in iTunes and verified that the song is clearly identified as track 8 of 9. This is a classic rock album and it's important to me to maintain the integrity of the original track listing. Suggestions?

Problem solved. In the track info section, there is a field for "Artist" and another for "Album Artist." The iTunes purchased song had the artist name in both fields, while my songs only had the artist listed once. Apparently that's what bumped the song up to Track 1.

  • Tracks in Order

Listening to music it doesn't matter what order the songs fell in for the most part, But audio books it really does, why is it that itunes thinks that track 10 should come right after 1 instead of 9, this has me very frustrated. Please help!
How do I get the tracks to play correctly?
    Thank you,
    Itunes grrrrrrrrrr

Because it's using a sort method that doen't interpret numbers. Use the track number to arrange the order in iTunes and then sort on a column such as Album by Artist than also forces track number ordering.
    Chris CA wrote:
    Easily done with iTunes.
Select the tracks, right click - get info.
Click the Options tab and set *Media Kind:* to Audiobook.
That won't help the OP if the book is made up of a number of chapters and it gets worse if you want to put more than one audiobook on the iPod at the same time. The audiobooks section will just list each file in the order of the track name without regard to album names or track numbers. The tracks get interleaved and out of order.
The problem is that the Audiobooks feature was originally designed for books that have been stitched up into a single file and hasn't been updated to reflect the changes that make multi-track audiobooks easy to work with in iTunes. There are tools for creating iPod-friendly audiobooks for which Aldo on Audiobooks is probably the best reference. Personally I haven't bothered to make the extra effort and just have an "Audiobooks" playlist folder containing sub-folders for each author and within these playlists for each audiobook. I still mark the files as audiobooks in iTunes as this separates them from the main music folder.

  • Putting audio book tracks in order

I have put an audio book from a cd onto my iPod mini. I am trying to figure out how to be able to listen to the tracks in order. I have eventually renumbered them so from disk to disk the numerical order remains. I have numbered the tracks from 01-120. When I go to listen to the book on the iPod, the tracks are all scrambled. I'm very new with this "toy" and need to know the secrets! Thanks for any help.

I think I have it solved. "It ain't pretty, but it'll do..." I did, indeed, discover that I had to disable the party shuffle option. Then I renumbered the tracks so that instead of each disk beginning with #1, I started where the last disk left off. So disk #2 began with Track 18 and disk #3 began with Track 35. Then I figured out how to create the smart playlist! So now each of the books shows up all together as one playlist, in order, and I think that'll solve the problem. At least it isn't in the order where all the Track 1's are together and all the Track 2's and so forth. It takes quite awhile to get the book transferred to the iPod but at least I can do it. IF there is an easier way, I sure would like to figure that out! Thanks for the suggestions!

Hi - Re Keynote  I'm trying to figure out how to create a music album (as an artist) on USB flash drive, (accessible by both Mac and PC). What I want is a background picture with 'click-buttons' to play each track listed, and play in order (like a cd) - also similar for embedded videos and photos etc. This should all be on the one page.
Is this possible with Keynote, or any other software package for Mac (am using Macbook Pro) ?

  • Getting track listing on iPod to match the ones on iTunes...

Hello. I've never figured out why on iTunes I can manually set the track order of an album, but when I sync it to the iPod the track order never changes.
Just wondering if there is a way to set the iPod track order manually to match the iTunes track order...
Any help will be MUCH appreciated! thanks.

I have manually set the track listing of each song to match the order of the ablums, and that solves the problem on iTunes, but on the iPod itself, they take on an order of their own.
Even when I rip tracks directly from the CD, the problem (sometimes) occurs. For example, on disk 2 of 'Heaven & **** - Live', the first track, 'Computer God' is always last on the album (on iPod), but first on iTunes.
I've already had to make several separate playlists for this problem, and it's become a little annoying... I don't know what else to do.
