Suggestions for Email-Only Host?

I'm building a new, improved version of my website with iWeb and will be publishing it with my domain name. My old website under that name on another web host. My current host also hosts my domain name email accounts. And here's the problem with the switch- iWeb doesn't support custom-named email accounts.
Does anyone have suggestions where I could host just my email? (My domain is registered with Network Solutions and they said it's perfectly fine to have the website and email hosted on different servers.) I could keep the email on the old site, but it's $12/month...I was hoping to find something cheaper. I've heard that Google Aps will host your email for free. Anyone have experience with them? Any other ideas??
Thanks!

I ended up with so many sites on my server that it would take me forever to go round all the individual web mail boxes to check them.
Now I have a Gmail address for each one and pick them all up in Mac Mail - much easier!
Gmail has a good spam blocker and the "notifier" is pretty neat.
I have my email addresses as [email protected]
If you want an invitation to Gmail, click on my name in the sidebar to email me and I will get one to you.

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.

  • Notification for emails only in priority hub

    Dear users,
Currently, my device Z10STL100-2/10.2.2.1531 notifies me on each arrived email (displayed on the lock screen and blinking). I'd like to receive notification only for emails in the Priority Hub. Or set a filter on certain emails / senders to be ignored and do not fire any notification. How can I set it, please? I don't care about other notifications (LI, FB,...).
    Cheers,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The only change you can make is, go to:   Settings, Notifications, swipe up on the screen to reveal Contacts, tap Contacts, tap Customize for Contact, tap the contact, tap Email Messages, turn Off the Alerts you wish.

  • Suggestions for email service on E71

I want to signup for a new email address and before I do I want to make sure it is completely compatible with my phone(E71) and can use all its features(Whatever they maybe).
Could you guys suggest a service? For starts, I'm thinking Gmail is the best solution as of now.
    Thanks

Gmail is perfect for use on the E71-1 as it offers both POP and IMAP protocols according to your usage requirements and it is free!
You could also consider another local mail provider, as long as they support POP/IMAP you should be fine,
Exchange is possible as well if you are in a corporate division that has an exchange server, if not it is unlikely you would be able to use this type of mail

  • Switching between mobile data and wifi for emails only

I tried to look myself, but could not find it....Is there a way that i can set my emails on my phone to only download when connected to wifi? I don't want to use unnecessary data when I am at the office (I do have wifi at home) and on my pc, but also don't want to switch off all mobile data as I won't be able to receive instand messages then. We are unfortunately not allowed to link our phones on our office wifi and data in South Africa is quite expensive when you run out of your data bundle from your provider.
I am on the Blackberry 10 OS.

I am a little puzzled by the libraries and switching between the libraries. My personal computer has the majority of the movies and content that would be transfered to the appletv. I chose to only select a minimal amount of content (of movies and tv shows, music via playlists) so there would be space left that would hold photos. Also, i just want to send over only what I want to view (manual synch) If I switch to my Kids library, it streams all the content well (movies & tv shows)(which is fine and streams well) If I switch back to my library, it shows every movie, every tv show, hundreds of music playlist that I did not choose to see. (stream mode) The only fix is to reboot the computer, and all is well. anyone experience this issue?

  • Best Hosting Service For Email/Website (#spam issues)

I've been using GoDaddy for webhosting and email hosting for a few years.
I've been having spam issues with every site and email I've setup with them. It's apparently a notorious issue with GoDaddy specifically, you can find loads of threads on it all over the net and GoDaddy closes the threads that people start on their own help forums.
I do nothing that could cause spam triggers. I don't send out mass emails, no subscriptions, newsletters, no links, nothing. Its literally nothing but responding to customer inquiries and VERY often they go directly to their spam/junk folders which of course is very very bad.
Can anyone recommend the best hosting service so this does not happen? Or anything I can do to help the situation? I have no problem paying a premium monthly for something that will guarantee (or at least as much as possible) that my mail actually gets delivered.
Is there any hosting service or service in general that is considered the best of the best?

Never heard that there was a specific problem with GoDaddy and spam.
Spam is a fact of life.  Getting your mail delivered has nothing to do with spam.
If you use Mail and a POP account fro getting your mail, try something like SpamSieve,  this will eliminate about 99% of spam in short order.
Gmail has a fairly good spam filtering for email only. You could change email accounts and not rely on GoDaddys email service, just set it up so it forwards to a gmail account to take advantage of their filtering/

  • Email/Domain Hosting Pickle

Sure - many companies provide email only hosting - Rackspace, Google, Microsoft, etc.

    Here's the facts...
My start-up company set up hosting with GoDaddy (back before I came onboard) and I'm looking to move domain and email to another company like BlueHost, A2Hosting, or SiteGround.  The website (PHP/Joomla!) and CRM platform is pointed to a virtual private server hosted with liquid web.
    Here's the problem...
The CRM is running some server modules, which we are not sure can be supported by "shared" hosting accounts (BlueHost/A2Hosting/SiteGround).  Is there a way we can get email service exclusively with a host and without any web hosting???

  • Suggestion for Apple Mail

I don't use Apple Mail regularly myself, but here's a suggestion for email client developers everywhere. Maybe some clients already do this?
I've lost count of the number of times that I've sent an email off but forgotten to attach a file. Or the number of times I've received an email absent of an intended attachment.
What about this? The email client looks for the word 'attach', 'attachment', 'attachments', etc, and if there is no attachment, the system pops up an alert asking the user "Are you sure you don't want to attach a file to this email?". Obviously the alert could be suppressed via preferences. I know this won't solve the problem entirely, but my guess is that a great many emails that are sent with an attachment include the phrase "I attach" or "Attached is", something like that.
Payment gratefully accepted for this worldwide convenience and efficiency gain!
    Cheers, Steven

Steven, don't tell us about it. We are just other users (with rare exceptions). We can't do anything about your suggestion. Go to the Mac OS X tab above and then Tiger and then Feedback and then give feedback about Mail. The Mail developers are more apt to see it then, but posting in the user-to-user technical help discussions the developers are not likely to see it.

  • LOCK/PASSCODE for email application

    Hi everyone,
Recently purchased an Iphone. I want to lock or passcode protect my e-mail application and others if possible on my Iphone. I am aware of general phone pass code but want my phone to be accessible to others at home to make calls, browse internet etc. Is this possible? HELP

No, there is not a separate passcode available for email, only the general passcode for the phone. The "slide for emergency call" function that is present with the passcode lock allows calls to be made, but not internet use, etc.

  • Only use a computer for email, internet, basic computing. Is the ipad a better option than a macbook?

Used to have a macbook, bought it back in '07, had to sell it shortly thereafter.
Don't have a computer now and need one.
Looking over the macbook pro, I am wondering if it is too much computer for me.
I use a computer for emails, surfing the web and twitter.
I'm wondering if the ipad would be a better fit, or if I should be looking for a computer.
    Thanks.

MacBook air just perfect i have an iPad 2 ( I know it's an old one but it is almost same ) i mostly need pc for stuff and normally I like to download movies for that I need a good memory which you won't get on an iPad best choice for you is a 11 or 13 inch MacBook air iPad is bettween comp and a phone it is good but not enought ( altleast for me ) if you take an iPad u won't the benefits of downloading zip files and many other files but with a MacBook you can do it as it supports all iPad is good for presenting stuff good for reading books , web pages are good too ( flash is not there so some sites are not good ) editing word docs or slidshows are nice and easy but not fully usefull ( simple editing options) if you convert the files say into doc it gets messy on a comp to see , plus doc files with lots of stuff like photos and tables gets messed up but if we convert to PDF then you get a nice experience , MacBook has many options in pages , numbers , keynote , you will like an iPad even I like it but like u even I am looking for a MacBook right now as I need to back up files and download movies anyways it decides unto u so go to the apple shop he will help u choice the right choice a person here will only tell good stuff and suggest what he likes but if you go to the apple store he will give you the perfect choice for u

I have one of the original iPads. Suddenly (from yesterday) when I receive an email only the headings are shown - the body of the text is blank. Also previously received emails have also had the text body removed. Any suggestions as to what caused this?

    Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Is there a way I can delete my primary @me email address so that I can receive emails only via my "reserved" @icloud address. eg. delete "msjones@me" and receive emails via "msjones@icloud" only. The reason being, I receive a fair bit of spam to my @me address. Going forward I plan on using an alias for certain websites to minimise this problem.

You can't delete the address, but you can set up a Rule to move messages to that address to the Trash or another folder. Go to http://icloud.com and go to the Mail page, click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Rules'.
It's a bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - even though in fact you haven't posted them in full; I've asked the hosts to remove them.

  • Hoping for specifics- Moving hosting, leaving email alone

I am hoping for a specific tutorial. Perhaps it's been said before and I have read many Going Live tutorials, however, I am nervous about moving things and minimizing the down time for my client.
    Details;
    Her Registrar is at GoDaddy.com
Her hosting is at XYZ.com (name changed for security reasons). (The DNS Servers on GoDaddy clearly point to XYZ's Nameservers)
    XYZ.com also hosts her email
She wants to move the HOSTING ONLY to BC, and kept the email UNTOUCHED and at XYZ.com
XYZ Host has said they can split the host and email.
Can someone please provide me with a very basic step by step way to accomplish this, with specics.
    First-
What exact steps do I need to take at GoDaddy
    Then at Business Catalyst?
(or should I do it in reverse?)

I just wanted to cycle back, just in case anyone else has questions like mine.
I found a different forum that explained things to me in a way which helped me understand more than I ever have and understand in a way which helped me feel confident in getting things done.
Thanks to those who were patient with me when I was asking questions, which now, I know were redundant.
In the end, this is what I did to get my client's Hosting over to BC, leave the email alone without any down time in the email.
Step 1-Upgraded her site in Business Catalyst and set it up.
I left the DNS and email to be hosted externally.
Step 2- I emailed XYZ Host, (Cced my client) and asked him CHANGE the A records to new BC site- asking him to include 3 records *.sitename.com, www.sitename.com, and sitename.com -- and provided him with BC's IP address for US servers. (which according to BC site is - 192.150.2.140 for sites on the United States data center)
Step 3- I did nothing on GoDaddy, and allowed it to be a "pass through"- which pointed everything to XYZ Host (he has the DNS settings still) , which then pointed traffic and hosting to BC, and left the email untouched.
I decided to go this route instead of re-delegating the DNS to have it pointed to BC (or moved back to Godaddy- and have the A records go to BC, and the MX to Email), because my client was MOST nervous about ANY email downtime, as her business is dependant in LARGE part to constant interaction with her clients. This allowed the email to go untouched.
I finally understood it like this- the DNS (Nameservers) is the guy with the control. He holds the keys... so to speak. Moving those keys (Pointing the Nameservers) back to GoDaddy or BC, in my mind would have potentially left my client without email for a few hours, which was very undesireable. So I left the keys in the hands of the Email Hoster, and just asked him to put a road sign up pointing web traffic to BC (The A Records).
Liam- looking back, this is exactly what you said, I just didn't understand it then. Now I do. For me, drawing a picture, or using allegory works best. (Hope it works for others as well.)
    Again, thanks all.
