Suggestions for story updates

I have two recurring issues that I think could bb addressed in subsequent updates.
1. Why can't the formatting of text (double spaced, add space after paragraph) be applied throughout the document as a preset? It is laborious to go to every paragraph and add space after paragraph. Nor does it work in a 'select all, apply to all' mode. We need to be able to apply these formatting decisions uniformly, not manually.
2. Bookmarking current, or left off, working position, or selected places. When you're working on a long document, it is laborious to have to scan through the work to reach current working position.

Say you're working on a treatment page, normal document, and you want the document to be double spaced throughout. Also, you want an added space after each paragraph.
Your text format toolbar provides these applications.
But they don't work as expected (at least, not as I expect them to).
You can select all text in the document and apply the double spacing. That works at that level. But when you go to work on a new paragraph, the new paragraph reverts to single spacing.
You can't select all text in the document and apply 'add text after paragraph'. If you try, it applies only to the first paragraph. Which means you have to apply the style from each paragraph in the document.
But it would be far more effective if you select your style before you start a document: double space, add space after paragraph, and it applies throughout as you work. You cannot do this.
Each time you come back to the document, you have to continue to apply the styles manually, and in the case of space after paragraph, to each paragraph.
It wastes a lot of time.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do that the instruction says since i am not familiar with Apple at all what are quick links even? Am i supposed to do this on Itunes on my Ipad or on the computer?

I spoke with Apple Tech Support and they guided me through this. I was trying to get the App Store working on a new iPad mini using a new, but existing Apple ID. To get it to work, I had to go onto iTunes on my main computer (not on the iPad). I had been trying to use the Sign In button, and I was having the issue of being "forced" to enter a credit card, which I did not want to do. Here was the solution I was given, which worked for me.
Log out of iTunes, if you are not already. (Or hit Cancel if you're on the Review Payment screen.)
Instead of going into Sign In, go to Redeem under the Quick Links, on the right-hand side, down a bit.
Go through the screens, accepting the EULA, etc. You will get to a Review Payment screen, similar to the one you saw before, but it will have a None button.
You can enter an iTunes card here if you want, but I was able to leave that field blank and still successfully get the account set up, ready to use on the iPad.

Need suggestion for Column update in query results

While generating reports using Oracle 10g SQL Query, we need to update the few of columns data with business calculations. We are processing large amount of data. Kindly suggest us, for the best method to achieve this.

i don't know about Oracle 10 SQL Query but i wouldn't mix reporting with data calcuations which is stored persistent in the database. I would separate them, e.g. you could create a database-job to execute your updates at a specific time each day.

N9 suggestions for future update

1. enable all hardware is in n9 like fm radio, transmiter, video call. and all other iI dont know.
2. fix buges with gps, email and mms, swype(if iI choose suggested word, it wrotes two words first i swiped and second i choose.), browser (enable to download all type of files), make able to seperare contacts from different accaunts.
3. add more shortcuts like 8icons, or icons from all swypes not only from down to up, add landscape for whole ui( and make able to edit it without third party programs).

A suggestion for new update

i'm sorry for my bad english.
i think a new option is needed.
i want my ipod to keep the backlight on automatically during charging or connected to car-stereo system.
i'm afraid you can't understand my english. hahaha~

Yes, the setting is there to leave the backlight on all the time, but what would be nice is to have the iPod know that it is connected to an external power source (not running on battery) and have the backlight on, but NOT have the backlight on when running on the battery.

I have an idea that I think everyone can appreciate.
I would like to see them add a dictionary-type feature to the settings for the auto-correct function, so people can directly add words to the dictionary and have the ability to control which words are auto-corrected. Just like you would find in Microsoft Word.

A Suggestion for next update

I was thinking the other day; would it be possible to add the feature to add iTunes gift cards on the apple tv, with the use of bluetooth keyboard, would really like to see this feature added to make my apple tv more awesome

Suggestion for future update

Assuming I can upgrade to ST 2.0 at some point without losing my custom icons... I just read about a tool called Speed Launch that essentially you give it the programs you need to open all at once, and then one click opens them all. I have several tasks that I open 5 or six things to do, and a single Simple Tap button that I could build to open all of them at once would be incredibly useful. -Michele

You can do that today by writing a .bat file and then pointing SimpleTap to it. I have attached a sample .bat file that opens notepad and calculator - but you could modify it to do anything you want. Then, using SimpleTap 2.0:
1. Click the "+" to create a new tile
2. Choose "launch a program"
3. Browse to the .bat file

Suggestion for First update to 7dMii firmware :)

I know it's early, and it's only been just released, but the one thing that bothers me is that the GPS stays on even when you switch the power off. I can understand it staying on when the camera is in "sleep" mode, but when I turn the switch off it should shut EVERYTHING off. Otherwise you have to always remember to disable the GPS and then turn it off. I can see myself (and probably others) running down lots of batteries with the way the GPS power is programmed.
Again, leave it on when the camera is "asleep" but when the power switch is set to OFF, everything should be off. Just my opinion as a long time user of Canon cameras, various GPS modules and programmer.
I should also mention, other than that, I'm LOVING this upgrade from my 7D.

IWEB SUGGESTIONS FOR APPLE

First, if Apple actually takes the time to read these Discussions, let me say, "Thanks!" I love Apple.
Second, I don't claim to be an expert, nor do I consider myself a uber-geek with incredible technical prowess.
I've just been playing around with iWeb, and have some suggestions for future updates, another 'Wish List' if you will;
1. The improvements to iPhoto are numerous and impressive, but iPhoto could use just a more photo tweaking in the realm of jpeg sizing. This would help integrate it with many iLife apps, especially iWeb.
2. GarageBand, likewise, also keeps getting better and better, but it too could use a little boost in the way it deals with file size and the overall affect on one's system. Just having the old 'go to GarageBand Help' popup gets a little frustrating. Optimizing should be more directly accessible in the user interface.
3. Creating easy access to, and integration of third party 'add ons' would be a really great way to deal with the current iWeb blogging limitations. Just as with many other blog systems, users could choose which various plug in enhancements they want on their iWeb blog.
If Apple made blog plug-ins easy to do, everybody would win. As with FireFox, for example, a community of iWeb enthusiasts could help develop and build iWeb into a super powerful app, via such user chosen add ons. Perhaps iWeb could be 'opened' up just a bit more, to let some more community light shine in?
That's just my two cents.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or just plain crazy, or post your own suggestions.

Make sure you send your iWeb comments directed at Apple to them via the iWeb > Provide iWeb Feedback menu item. Ideas for Garage Band and iPhoto are better posted in the forums and feedback channels devoted to those programs than here.

Where can i make a suggestion for a mail feature on a future update?

I was looking for somewhere to make a suggestion for a future mail feature on the iphone, but couldn't find a place to do it.
It would be useful to be able to set mail fetching as manual in the evening and timed during the working day so my evenings aren't disturbed by work emails.
What do you reckon Apple? A feature for the next iOS update?

Nokia C3-01, suggestions for next S/W update

I am using Nokia C3-01 from 2 weeks. It is nice phone with touch and type combination. I would like to add some suggestions for next software update.
1. Brightness control
2. When writing a text message, tapping # change only alphabet from capital to lower case, but missing numeric. I have to press 3-4 times to write numeric in text. Also have no 'option' to insert numeric. If I change other language (not English, which is automatic), then I can get numeric by tapping #. Nokia, please care it for next firmware update.

You can do a long press on the keys to get the numeric value instead of pressing it three to four times. This works for all Nokia since years, if they have keys
Or do a long press on the # key. This gives you the option to activate numeric input. Also a quite old feature for Nokia phones.

Open Activity Monitor, Show:>All Processes, sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU% when this happens, click on Memory tab, do you have many Pageouts?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
Check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive in Disk Utilty by highlighting the Drive & looking at the bottom of the window.

When I updated my ipad2 to the IOS system all aps updated and worked except for PAGES and NUMBERS. They always show up in the list as aps that need an update, however the never leave that category and do not function. I paid $10 each for them and wish I could get them to work. any suggestions?

Think about the basics. you are using the same apple I'd for the update? have use mixed in apps from any other apple id? No existing numbers or pages docs open, or print jobs pending?
What happens when you select update in the app store? I think these are pretty big files, so you are doing the app update using a wifi connection?
If you are doing an 'update all', try updating that one specific app, not any others. See if you get any kind of error message.
Lastly, save any important docs or spreadsheets somewhere, then delete the app entirely , then try the redownload again.
