SUID file in disk permissions has been modified!
What does this mean? How do I fix it?
if you are using the new OS X 10.9 then had a bunch of updates in the app center it might not be just on 10.9 but i have the same thing cause there was a update for remote desktop (mac version using VNC not RDP like windows) and i dont think they changed there readings and stuff in disk utilities to verify that its correct.

Is this bad?
No. Ignore it.
What does this mean?
That you have the current OS version installed.
As far as I know, I have not installed any Remote Access software on my Mac.
It's part of the OS.

Do not worry. It is probably a permission you should ignore, but you should check that the permission appears in this site > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
<Subject Edited by Host>I know this question has been sort of answered but not properly in my opinion.
There should be no permissions to repair once they have been repaired.
There should also be no permissions that can't be fixed especailly by Apple.
Many computers have seen this:
"System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAge nt" has been modified and will not be repaired."
To me this is not normal even though Apple may say it is.
Not all computers have this so why do some other computers show this problem?
I have fixed this on my computers as I can't stand to have things like this show up when they shouldn't.
I replaced the problematic ArdAgent by using a copy from another computer that did not have that warning.
Once, replaced, I got the message in Disk Utility when I repaired the permissions with this new one:
Permissions differ for:
System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgen t
should be "0" instead of 501 (or something like this)
Then it states those permissions were repaired.
Now I no longer get that stupid warning about the ARDAgent.
For those of you that want to get rid of that warning, try using a copy from another computer running the same system.
Worked for me.
I also repaired a few other permissions that always kept coming back even though Disk Utility said they were repaired.
Hogwash.
If it was repaired then the same exact ones wouldn't be coming back everytime you repair permissions.
In my mind, there should be no permissions to repair once they have been repaired.
Otherwise, they were not fixed or repaired in the first place.
I now no longer have any permissions to repair unless I may install something new that might need repair.
Good luck with your mileage.
This is how Disk Utility should look like without any permissions to repair once you have repaired them one time, and one time, only.
Clean bill of health. -

Repair Permissions: "has been modified and will not be repaired" message.
After running repair disk permissions, several messages have a statement after it that SUID file .... "has been modified and will not be repaired.
Ones that show this message are:
system/library/filesystems/appleshare/afpload
usr/bin/setregion
system/library/privateframeworks/install.framework/versions/A/resources/runner
Should I be concerned with these specific files? How should I deal with this. Thanks so much for any advice or help.

It is a common situation with many threads about that here.
Those suid notations should not concern you at all.
I wish they were invisible.

Thanks for your help. I am on an Intel iMac.Permissions you can ignore on 10.5 and 10.6:

Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard changed the location of a number of system components. -
Disk permissions: SUID file ***/*** has been modified
While checking and repairing disk permissions I now get a number of warnings: "SUID file **/** has been modified and will not be repaired". This is happening on both my MacBook (May 2007) and iMac (October 2007). Both have been updated from Tiger to Leopard. Whenever I try to repair disk permissions I get these errors. I have never noticed these warnings in Tiger and wonder if they are something to do with the upgrade. More importantly, is it anything to worry about?
Hi There
Apple have released a statement about this but I can't seem to find it at this time. From memory they said that it was correct but nothing to worry about.
Also Download the Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1 install package from the website and reinstall this should get rid of some and leave you with just the Remote Desktop Client warning.

What does the message "Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired" when repairing disk permissions?
It's just a status message, albeit a misleading one, and can be ignored.

I have a mid 2007 iMac running OS Mavericks and the hard drive is failing. When doing a disk permissions verify it shows SUID file system/library/coreservices/remotemanagement/ARDAgent/contents/MacOS/ARDAgent has been modified and will not be repaired. I do not have a backup of my system due to my external drive I use for backing up my system has stopped working. Can I repair this myself without having to reinstall the OS so I don't loose my any of my files.
You can safely ignore that.
Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages you can safely ignore -
When I repair permissions in disk untilities, I get one result that cannot be repaired:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I recently had a new hard drive installed by Apple, after mine failed. The permissions seem to get out of whack quite often, and I get the message above.
Can you please tell me what may be going on?For more information, see:
