Summer fun !   aka - "what about MY memory files ? "

The grey cells are getting fogged....but its time for a beer and some summer fun !
Went to a nearby park yesterday to check out what the county has to offer ( been in my apt for a year and still didn't know about this park a neighbor told me about ).  There's an outdoor pool, baseball diamonds ( 3) , picnic tables with benches ( no bar b q pits ) , and plenty of green grass !
How cool is THAT !  So now when it's about a zillion degrees out there for some unknown reason ( like because everyone in China and Japan and so on has to wear surgical masks to go outside cause of the pollution maybe ---we got the same air I think -eventually ) ....anyway, as I said, when it gets a zillion degrees I can go to the park and jump in the pool !
dog paddle across, cool off....jump in off the 10 foot board and do a swan dive !

Mitchell,
I completely understand. Many years ago, I was in San Diego shooting for Mortensen Construction (all of their military construction). I had come over from Denver, shooting in LV on the way. It was going onto July 4, so the military facilities were shutting down. We did not want to go back to Denver, only to return, so attempted to stay in SD. Wow, the whole city was filling up with "Zonies." Who knew? (At the time - not me... !). We found a B & B up on the hill, and holed up for the long weekend. Everything was filled to overflowing. This was also the year that PHX hit 122F, so more than most years were in SD. It was like a mini-Mardi Gras and not a pretty scene.
Who knew that years later I too would be a Zonie?
We were just in Orlando, FL, for an event. One day our waiter asked where we were visiting from. When we replied PHX, he screamed, "Zonies!" and embraced us like a long lost favorite aunt and uncle. "I'm from San Diego," he proclaimed, "welcome to Orlando." I was very surprised. I guess not all SD residents are aware of the "plague," that we bring.
When we do go to SD, we ALWAYS carry our passports, all papers and our shot card, even if we are only going to be in some rich-person's "compound" for the entire visit. One such overlooks Sandnsea, and another is at Coronado, plus a few in La Jolla proper, and up to Del Mar. We are usually the "token poor people," and are shown off to locals, like a favorite hunting dog would be. "Hey look everybody! We have 'poor friends' too!"
Thanks for the laughs,
Hunt, off to find his ice-climbing ax... those glaciers beckon.

  • What about session memory when using BEA Weblogic connection pooling?

    Hi,
consider a web application, allowing database connections via a BEA Weblogic 8.1 application server. The app-server is pooling the oracle connections. The oracle database is running in dedicated server mode.
How are the database requests from the web app served by the connection pool from BEA?
    1) Does one oracle session serve more than one request simultanously?
    2) Does BEA serialize the requests, which means, that a session from the pool is always serving only one request at a time?
If (1) is true, than what about the session memory of Oracle sessions? I understand, that things like package global variables are beeing stored in this session private memory. If (1) is true, the PL/SQL programmer has the same situation, as with programming an Oracle databas in "shared server" mode, that is, he should not use package global variables etc.
    Thankful for any ideas...

    2) Or does BEA serialize the requests, which means, that a session from the pool is always serving only one request at a time?
Reading "Configuring and Using WebLogic JDBC" from weblogic8.1 documentation, I read:
"... Your application "borrows" a connection from the pool, uses it, then returns it to the pool by closing it...."
What do you mean by returning the connection by closing it? Tbe server will either return the connection to the pool or close it...When application code does typical jdbc code, it obtains
a connection via a WebLogic DataSource, which reserves an
unused pooled connection and passes it (transparently wrapped)
to the application. The application uses it, and then closes
it. WebLogic intercepts the close() call via the wrapper, and
puts the DBMS connection back into the WebLogic pool.
The reason, why I as an Oracle programmer ask this is, because every session (=connection)
in Oracle has its own dedicate, private memory for things like global PL/SQL variables.
Now I want to figure out, if you have to careful in programming your databases, when
one Oracle session (=connection) is serving many weblogic requests. It is serving many requests, but always serially. Do note however, that we
also transparently cache/pool prepared and callable statements with the
connection so repeat uses of the connection will be able to get already-made
statements when they call prepareStatement() and prepareCall(). These
long-lived statements will each require a DBMS-side cursor.

  • In Synchronus way  what about  the next file of the Error files

    Hi,
I'm doing RFC to File  SYNCHRONUS... suppose if i'm sending files continusely.. imagine if one file is failre.. then what abt the next file.. whether the next file will load sussefully or.. it should stop  ..
because  I heard  in synchronus method.. response is compulsorry then only  it a can able to process for next  files... is it correct..? if  correct means.. then  how can we solve this problem... or correct me if any thing wrong ...
    Thanks
    Bbau

    Hi Babu,
I am not completely clear about your scenario.
Are you sending some data from RFC to a file and waiting for an acknowledgement?
It is true that Synchronous scenarios use Best Effort (sRFC) so  you can use this:
1)Configure the fault message also. So that if your file transfer is a failure then u get an exception message and this might end up one sync cycle.
    2) Trying a BPM in which you message (a file count and filename) asynchronously
on negative acknowledgement to another file. This will help u keep track of faulty deliveries.
    I hope it helps :).

  • Converted Library to DNG now what about those other files?

I've just taken the plunge and converted all my CR2 images to DNG, replacing the originals.
However, I still have all the JPEG sidecar files left over. Can I safely delete these, or are they required by the DNG?
Also, I was previously using the option to write to XMP sidecar files. With DNG is there any real need to keep doing this?
    Thanks

Converting RAW files to DNG does not replace the original file. Rather it places all the data from that file inside the DNG in a standard published format. It can also contain a full copy of the file in its original format if you select that option (although this is really a waste of space). Think of DNG's as a box with a standardised filing system into which you file your data previously filed in a way only understandable by Canon, Nikon or whichever company designed the format. DNG's have a filing system that allows anyone to now read that data instead of just a few people "in the know".
The DNG files will allow you to write what was formally contained in the sidecar files directly into the headers of the DNG file. If you had  automatically write all changes into xmp selected in catalog settings, then this will continue with DNG files but now write the data into the file header rather than as a  sidecar file. If you wrote the information yourself (by selecting write metadata to file from the metadata tab), rather than doing it automatically, then you can continue to do so. If you don't select this changes are stored only in the LR catalog and not in the file itself. The advantage of writing data into the file header (or as a sidcar file) is that other applications such as Bridge can read this data and if you import the DNG into a different LR catalog you can read the changes into that catalog, by selecting read metadata from file. The disadvantages include a small performance hit particularly on less powerful systems, you can still write the data to file manually in this case.
As far as jpg files go, if these have been imported as separate files and you still want to keep them as separate files then don't delete them. To ensure any changes you make in LR are written into the header files then select this option for jpgs, Tiffs and PSD files in catalog settings on the same screen as where you set the options for xmp data for RAW files.
Jpg files are not required by DNG's that contain a RAW file. A jpg preview file is embedded inside the RAW file and this will be also in the DNG file and used by applications not capable of decoding RAW data.

  • What about all these files/folders?

    * I looked through my Applications and located the following files that do not seem to be applications and perhaps should not be in Applications at all:
    -Epson LFP Remote Panel empty folder;
    -Epson Printer Utilities 57kb Alias;
-Epson Stylus Pro 3800 empty folder
    -Installflash_player_osxintel.dmg, 5.8 MB disk image;
    -Lightroom empty folder;
    -Microsoft office 2011 empty folder
    -Nik Software empty folder
    -Utilities empty folder
    * When I open "downloads" in the Dock, I find the following:
    -HDR efex pro-la-ver1.100.dmg 86,2 MB disk image;
    -imageeditingsoftwarefile3.dmg, 83,5 MB disk image, (has something to do with my Lightroom3);
    -Photopro.dmg, 41,2 MB disk image
    -SecUpd2011-001.dmg, 253.1 MB disk image;
    -tuxerants_2010.12.dmg, 4.7 mb disk image.
I like to keep my finder clean and I am planning to remove all empty files, but do not know what to do with the rest?
    Thanks for helping me out!

You can delete all the stuff you don't recognize in your Downloads folder, those are not a problem.
Some of that stuff in your Applications folder can be deleted as well, such as the Installflash_player_osxintel.dmg and Epson stuff (if you don't have an Epson printer that you're using).
However, your Utilities folder should not be empty. I would try doing a Permission Repair in Disk Utility - it seems like your permissions might have gotten changed somewhere and thus you are not able to see what is inside your Utilities folder.

I get kernel paic upon boot.  I did that hard drive cleanup and reinstalled Lion.  What about memory?  Anyone think I need to upgrade my memory?  I have 8 G of upgraded RAM. (20 inch iMac core 2 duo)

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.

  • HT3258 what about final cut does not recognize mts file

what about final cut does not recognize mts file

If you have an AVCHD camcorder, you need to select one of the AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setups in FCE that matches how you shot the video in your camcorder.  (eg, AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60 would be appropriate for camcorders produced for North America unless you selected some other video type in the camera's setup.)   After selecting the appropriate Easy Setup, create a new sequence then import the video from your camcorder.
If you only have the .mts files themselves (perhaps because you copied them to your hard drive without their entire surrounding AVCHD folder structure), that's another matter.  In that case you need Clipwrap or similar app to transcode the .mts files to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec before importing them into FCE.   You still need to have the correct easy setup in FCE.
It would help to know exactly what make/model camcorder you have, and what model Mac and versions of OS X and QuickTime.

Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download. If it didn't download correctly then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that audiobook and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • What does the open file dialog do 'under the hood' and is there a way to simulate it

What does the open file dialog do 'under the hood' and is there a way to simulate it?
I have a bug in my code (that I've posted about before, here) which I can't fix at the moment, but I do have a workaround.
    Briefly, the bug:
I call a dll from a function node, to initialise and run a spectrometer. If I start up the PC, LabVIEW and run my vi the code runs without complaint, the first call to the dll to initialise the spectrometer doesn;t return an error but the spectrometer is not detected either.
I've tried various solutions, see the link above, and none work
    The workaround:
If, at any time before running the code containing the function node I open an 'open file' dialog window, select the dll and click ok/hit enter then everything is fine. When I run the main code the spectrometer is detected.
I use an express vi to open the file dialog, I specify the start path and file name as constant inputs and just click ok/hit return when the dialog pops up. I don't do anything with the dialog outputs. In fact the vi that contains the open file dialog can be run before the project containing the bug is even open.
I have to do this everytime I turn the PC on.
    So, either
    1) Can somewone suggest a fix for the original bug?
    2) What is the easiest way to simulate the enter keypress when the open file dialog pops up
    or
    3) Can someone tell me what the open file dialog does under the hood that somehow causes the dll to work and can it be simulated in straight LabVIEW
I suspect that the dll itself is dodgy ( I have in the past talked to the supplier but not got very far, and I will try again but I would like a quick, temporary solution too). I'm guessing that the file dialog is making some kind of check on the file, and possibly registering its presence with the OS (winXP). I tried using the file/folder exists vi to see if checking the file like that worked but no luck.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Dave

    Hi David
I am very conscious about thread hijacking but this sounded like my issue so I hope you dont mind me asking about your issue. I am hoping that you have a spectrometer from the same vendor as me and its not just me seeing an Error 1097 issue. My spectrometer is from a company called Stellarnet.
So far I have unable to get it to work with other VIs. There is one condition where I can get it to work but its no good for me.
    Case 1
I open the VI in a fresh labview environment with no other VIs in memory. The code runs with no issue.
    Case 2
Labview is not opened. I double click the spectrometer VI in windows explorer.  The VI opens but it fails to run resulting in Error 1097. Personally, I dont see the difference between this and Case 1 above and yet it fails.
    Case 3
If I already have other VI's in memory and try to load the spectrometer VI and run it fails with Error 1097. This case is the one that most important to me. I have a test executive that will load test VIs dynamically and I can't get this to work. Same problem Error 1097.
I wanted to share what I have seen with you and to let you know that maybe somebody else has the same issue. I am convinced its the DLL but the vendor dis-agreed saying it was LabVIEW. I couldn't convince him otherwise.
    Thanks in advance
    David

  • Getting an error message about a missing file when I try to open Firefox

When I tried to open Firefox today I received a message about a missing file (Wrusr.ddl) and that Firefox was not able to open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it did not work. I have no idea what that file is or where is went. I used Firefox 2 days ago and it was working fine. The only thing that changed between then and today was that I renewed my antivirus software but I definitely did not delete any files and I made sure that Firefox is allowed to access the internet. I've been using that same software (Webroot) with Firefox for years and never had any issues before today. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have included a screenshot of the error message below.

hello angelag.132, the WRusr.dll file is part of Webroot SecureAnywhere - try to reinstall or uninstall that software.

  • What are the iphoto files I need to restore iphoto library deleted from drive

A few days ago my hard drive started making noises and I was getting all sorts of errors.  I even got errors trying to do a time machine backup with the final error being "backup failed".
Earlier last week I imported a couple hundred photos of my kids from Christmas to present which also included our vacation last month.  I deleted the photos from my camera after the import.  Then foolishly, I didn't think to do any time machine backups between then and the time my hard drive started making noise.
I bought a new SSD drive.  I could still access the bad drive so I moved my pictures directory from the bad drive to the new drive.  It took nearly two hours.  It appeared to have moved everything, but it did not move the iphoto library.  The pictures directory is gone from the old hard drive.
I purchased FileSalvage and recoved thousands of deleted jpg files from my old drive, but none appear to be the pictures I lost.
It appears that FileSalvage will recover specific file types.  There doesn't seem to be a way to just tell it to recover the deleted "pictures" directory or recover "iphoto library".
If I was able to specify specific file names to restore, what files would I even need to specify?   I have iphoto 11.
I came across an article about iphoto library files from iphoto 6 and previous versions which explained the following iphoto files: library.iphoto6, albumdata.xml, Thumb32Segment.data, Thumb64Segment.data, ThumbJPGSegment.data, etcxxxxx.
    mmm
Does iphoto 11 use similar file names?  I'm not concerned with keeping my iphoto database in tact.  I just want my pictures.
Maybe I'm asking the wrong question.  Any advice on how to get my pictures back would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!!
    MH

Simply, you can't recover the iPhoto Library. What you need to do is try recover the Photos that were in it. These will be saved as jpeg files* and that's what you need to search for. Recovering all the other files will do no good. You won't be alble to reconstruct the Library. Your aim is to get the Photos and then start over.
The search may find many files of the same name, try to recover the largest files - they are most likely to be your originals.

  • A better manual? & what about photo stream from Aperture?

Is there a better manual for ATV other than the one that came with it? I find that one VERY lacking in operating instructions for the ATV.
And what about setting up to stream photos from my photos in Aperture? The only options in the menu are Flickr, Mobile Me and to sync. Syncing all my photos would really eat up the HD space! I would rather stream.
Looks like the option to stream photos from Aperture was eliminated with the last ATV firmware update. What gives Apple??

I have a similar problem using photo stream, turned it on the other day after I had been emailing pics from my laptop and then opened mail on my iPad and opened pics which were all high resolution, photos looked great in photos and albums, but a couple of hours later when they had downloaded in photo stream they were pixelated. They also streamed to my iPhone 4 and the same problem there. A couple of months ago I installed iPhoto on my phone and edited a pic that was on my phone and when saved it also pixelated. I'm beginning to think this is maybe the cause of this, because as I have said, these are high res files and look great when viewed through camera roll, photos or albums, it's only the photo stream folder that is affected. Does photo stream down sample images? Doesn't explain why the iPhoto edit on my phone pixelated though. real curious as to why this is happening, maybe just turn photo stream off.

  • Copy Interruptus - what is a ".DS_Store file"?

Hi, I'm running an old MacBook Pro (3+ years old), and I'm going to try install an SSD drive to speed this tired, but most wonderful critter up.  I've already backed up the HD (500 GB), but the SSD (240GB) is smaller so I'm trying to move files off.
I thought I might strip out everything that wasn't applications and the operating system and later put back what I really need but I keep getting these messages about ".DS_Store" files, as I copy different folders and the copying keeps comes to a crashing halt.
