Summit Sporting Goods Database

How can I download script to create the Summit Sporting Goods Database ;
In doc. B32122-01 "Oracle Reports User's Guide to Building Reports 11g":
"You can download the SQL scripts to
install the Summit Sporting Goods (SUMMIT) schema from the Oracle Technology
Network (OTN): on the Oracle Reports page
(http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/index.html),
click Getting Started to display the Getting Started with Oracle Reports home page. In
the list of topic sections on the left, click Index. In the Topic list, choose Building and
Developing Reports; in the Collateral Type list, choose Tools/Utilities, then click
Search. In the list of tools and utilities that displays, click the Download icon to
download the SQL scripts to install the SUMMIT sample schema. "
but I couldn't find it.

I've got it.

I'm also asking for help. I cannot try out the examples from the book because I don't have SUMMIT schema... Would someone be so kind and send me the SQL scripts so I can have those tables in my database?
my e mail is: [email protected]
thank you

  • Summit Sporting goods schema

    Dear all
I am in urgent need of Summit sporting table scripts and the sample application code (FMB files). Can anyone help me in getting the same.
    Thanks in advance

Given how useful Summit is as a tutorial, you would have thought it might be a bit more prominent. Here you go...

  • How to install Summit Sporting Goods schema???

I have downloaded the sql scripts, but don't know how to install in my server. It will be greatly appreciatied if someone can write down procedure in step by step.
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Charles

    Hi Charles,
You will first have to connect to the database as sysdba, eg
    connect sys/admin@your_db as sysdba
Then you will have to create a new user, eg
    create user summit identified by summit;
You grant privileges to this user, eg
    grant connect, resource to summit
For more information, see this link on the list of privileges you can grant
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96540/statements_912a.htm#2062195
You can also set the default tablespace and temporary tablespace, eg
alter user summit default tablespace example temporary tablespace temp
Then you connect with your created username/password, eg
    connect summit/summit@your_db
Now you run the sample sql script (as mentioned in earlier replies in this thread). I would also suggest you contact the DB administrator before carrying out these steps.
    Navneet.

  • Good database design and modelling books

    Hi ,
I need to work on designing a database from the scratch by creating logical database design and then physical database design.I'm new to database design.
Can someone please point me to some good database design and modelling related books /tutorials.
    Regards,
    Bharath.

Hi Girish Thanks for the information.
I would definitely look into this book later.
I don't mind paying any amount of money,if that book gives me the knowledge I want.
As this book is international edition, for shipping it is taking 8-10 business days and by that time I need to complete designing my database and probably I might need to some other book.
Is this a school assignment? I hope so. Referring back to your opening statement "I need to work on designing a database from the scratch by creating logical database design and then physical database design.I'm new to database design." I can only say that database design is a very big subject. If you are starting from a position of no knowledge at all, I'm afraid there is nothing that is going to give you the knowledge you need in the time frame you have. I will say you need to start by learning the rules of Data Normalization. Make your logical design Third Normal Form. Good can be your friend. There is actually a pretty good write-up on Data Normalization on Wikipedia.

  • Looking for a good database program

I have used Filemaker Pro in the past and have really liked using that program.  Is there something out there but maybe a bit less pricey?

I have a friend who is a pastor in Virginia and he is trying to develop a searchable database where he can store (and easily access) the range of quotations and passages that he has (and will continue to accumulate over a life time) on a range of subjects for use in sermons, articles etc. To date he has been typing the quotation/passage into a Word document on the relevant subject area, often having to input on multiple Word documents if the subject matter requires. Searching the system requires too many levels of folder, sub folder, sub-sub folder steps. Searchlight is good, but not the full answer.
Can someone recommend a strategy for this kind of database where entries are lengthy (as opposed to contact databases?)

  • Suggest a good database?  (criteria within)

I currently use a Microsoft Access to store data, which I then use to generate a static website using a Java application I wrote.
The reason I use Java so heavily is that it is platform-agnostic; I hate losing code when a platform (DOS, Windows 3.1, Win9x, soon WinNT) goes away.
Now, building an application I'd like to sustain for many years in a portable language and then using a MS database for the data is obviously quite silly. I'd like to find a database which runs on most platforms (especially Windows and Linux, my current platform and the one I will eventually move to) and which has easily portable data files. Access is easy - one .mdb file holds everything I want to move. Do other databases support this?
MySQL seems to have lots of required bits - ACL's etc - that I'm not interested in, and occasionally a x.y version db fails to work with an x.y+1 or x+1.y version. Not good.
Any suggestions? I'm curious about a db called Cloudscape - has anyone done anything with it?
    thanks for your time, folks,
    Andrew

I have no direct suggestion except to note the fact even though a
specific database may be currently seem to be the answer does in
any way guarantee what will happen in the future. You will only
be betting on the most likely choice. Many databases that have
seemed to be the best bet have effectively vanished in the past.
I do suggest you design your product so the database functions
all are localized in single blocks of code and the functions
used throughout your code. This means if at a later date you
need to change the database the changes you require will all
    occur only in those areas.
You must realize that the long term success of programming
products do not rely on the fact they are currently the best thing
since sliced bread. Marketing and the market place (customers) drive
the most successful products. Not I said successful not best. You may
find you want to change to another database product long before the one
you are using has ceased to exist.

  • Can anyone recommend a good database?

...except FMTouch, which looks good, but the price is a joke, compared to usual iPhone app prices.
    Thanks a lot!

As I don't expect that there will be a ready-made database for teachers like me: an empty database where I can store daily notes on students in different subjects, keep track of tasks / homeworks, and it must be searchable that I can have all the information of any student together for writing reports.
All in all - a professional (relational?) database like... Filemaker.

  • Very Good Database Tool

    Hi Dear Oracle Users,
I was browsing through the IT portal, ITtoolbox.com and came acroos an excellent web based Database Objects Browser for Oracle. It's very useful and can be found in the following URL.
    http://Oracle.ITtoolbox.com/documents/document.asp?I=1610
For more info get in touch with the contact person mentioned when you go to the above URL.
Hope it is useful as it was for me,
    Regards.

You might want to read Ready to move on from Aperture or iPhoto? | The Lightroom Queen
Naturally, this does not import EVERYTHING that is in Aperture, some concepts in Aperture simply do not exist in Lightroom, and other Aperture features are approximated by similar Lightroom tools, rather than being an exact match.
I can change many parameters and then cancel one or more of them. If I import my Aperture's library with many projects, I wonder if this compatibility is possible ?
This has nothing to do with importing from Aperture. Yes, in Lightroom, if you set the exposure to +0.5, and then you want to undo it, you simply set the exposure back to zero.

    Accessing the Data Sources
The data sources used in this manual are:
    -SCOTT schema
-Sample Human Resources, Sales History, and Order Entry schemas
    -Summit Sporting Goods (SUMMIT) schema
The SCOTT, Human Resources, Sales History, and Order Entry schemas are available with the Oracle Database (both 9i and 10g).

  • 11g Reports User Guide

I have been going through the above guide to get an idea on how Oracle 11g reports works but on several occasions the guide has mentioned that I need to have certain schemas or tables/data installed on my database to work through certain tasks. One such example is the SUMMIT schema which I have so far been unable to locate the files necessary to create it with (this includes using any of the links specified in the guide). Does anyone know of a place that has all these sample and tutorial files from which I can download from? I have been through the Oracle website and download page countless times only to get nowhere and it seems strange that a newish guide like this is already referencing non-existent data.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please see these MOS docs.

Where Can I Download The "Building Reports sample files" (Accessing the Example Reports) ? [ID 1324594.1]

  • Is there a cheap or free good alternative program to Filemaker pro that will work on Mavericks and allow me to open FM databases from version 7?

I recently switched from a power pc (2004 I think) to a MacBook Pro, and had to upgrade so much. My old system was running Filemaker pro 7. I really need a good database program for my work (freelance/self-employed), and have forked out so much money on other programs, that I'm hoping I can find a freeware or shareware version of a good DB program to use that will work for me. Any suggestions? I am not that tech-savvy. Thanks.

Ditto on all those points.  I recommend Carbon Copy Cloner to make a full bootable backup.  Time Machine is NOT adequate, particularly for virtual machines.
After upgrading to Yosemite, make sure you do a repair permissions in disk utility....and be prepared for some 10.10 bugs (it's just now becoming stable).
