Sun AS 9.1 UR2 Admin console doesn't ask for login name and password

I have an instance of Sun AS 9.1 installed on Linux, that has broken admin console. The console never asks for login and password, just lets the user to do anything.
I didn't set it up and I've never seen that. There's Policy Agent installed because of some apps and maybe this is causing the problem. But I don't know. I just need to secure the console (anyhow).
Any ideas what could happen? Any hints where to look, what libs could be overwritten by bad version or something?

This is probably the only thread that relates to the problem i am facing.
I have encountered the same issue whereby the user ID shows up empty.
Accessing the console without having the need to enter credentials is causing me some serious security issues.

When I start the Admin Console for Sun One Application Server 7, and after I login, the admin console doesn't display in the browser. I have tried starting the admin console with IE and Netscape browser, but the admin console has failed to start in either IE or netscape.

Forgot the Admin Server Port Number? If you do not remember the HTTP server port number of the administrative server, you can inspect the administrative server's configuration file to determine the HTTP server port number.

2. Open the server.xml file in your favorite editor. Look for the element:

Forgot the Username or Password? If you do not remember the administrative user name that was supplied during installation, try the user name "admin". This file contains the administrator's user name followed by the encrypted form of the administrative user's password.
If you do not remember the administrator's password, then you can delete the administrative domain using the delete-domain subcommand of asadmin and create a new domain with a new administrative password.
Port Not Accessible? If the connection was refused when attempting to contact the administrative server's admin console application, it is likely that the administrative server is not running. Go back to the beginning of this section and double check the your startup procedures and the content of the administrative server's log file to determine the reason why the server is not running.

After my daughter's Macbook Pro was fixed it asks for a username and password. She doesn't have one! Help!

The hard drive crashed on her Macbook Pro (bought it in 2011) so she brought it to the Apple Store to get fixed. Now when she turns it on there's a blue screen with the Apple Mac OS X sign-in box in the middle asking for her username and password. Look at the manual for the router. The password is on the router. Then change the password in the router to something other than the default one and use that password when the iPod asks for it (it will only ask once, once it has the password/router combo in its memory, it will remember it)

A site that i need to access asks for my username and password and then either pretends to load and says "authentication failed" or acts like it will load and then make me put it in again and it still doesn't work.

I need to access the library resources for an assignment in college. When I get to the website it asks for my user name and password and once I type that information, it seems like it will load and then it will repeat the user name and password page as if it did not load or say "authentication failed."

Setting up SafePoint on NAS, myCloud doesn't ask for username and password

I couldn't find an answer to this in the forum. I'm trying to set up a Safepoint on a Synology NAS. I have it configured so that you need a user name and password to access this share the safepoint should go to. When I try to set the Safepoint up in MyCloud it will find my NAS, but will then say "Retrieving Shares", but won't show any.I believe this is where I shoudl be asked for a username and password. Maybe the MyCloud can't see the share because I haven't eneter the credentials yet, but I don't know where else to enter them. I tried it in different browsers in case it's some sort of JavaScript problem, but it also doesn't work in other browsers either. For security reasons I'm not keen on having the share public, without user name and password. How can I create a Safepoint on my other NAS?

According to the WD My Cloud User Manual it appears that one has to select the NAS where they want to save the share first before they are possibly given a screen where they can enter in a user name and password. See Chapter 11 in particular Steps 3 and 4 under "Creating a Safepoint". Step 4 shows an example of the username/password screen. If the Synology NAS is not being detected by the WD My Cloud user interface then obviously there is either a problem with how the Synology NAS is detected on the local network or a problem with the WD My Cloud detecting specific NAS devices on the local network. It goes without saying that both devices should be on the same local network and have IP addresses in the same IP range. For example both should have IP addresses in the 192.168.1.x range. It's probably that your Keychain password is not the same as your login password. If you configured your computer to log you in automatically, you may not have used your login password in so long you forgot it.
There is no way to retrieve the "login" Keychain password, but you can reset the Keychain from the Preferences menu: select it in the Keychain Access menu and select "Reset My Default Keychain". This will create a new, empty Keychain but the old one will be saved should you ever remember its password.
The result of this is that you will have to supply passwords for everything that requires it, since without your Keychain they will no longer automatically fill themselves. However, once you supply them and store them in your new Keychain, they will be remembered.

Problem with Recognition of Admin's Name and Password

I am having issues with my system not recognising my admin name and password. For example if I click the lock on the Accounts Preferences page to make changes or try to shut my system down with other users logged in I get a similar message telling me the admin name/password authentication pair is not recognised. I believe other apps which use the admin name/password have similar problems. Also Software Update won't run as it won't recognise the admin name/password pairing.
However I can login using the name/password pair and I can open the login Keychain with this name/password pair. Just to check my kids hadn't changed the admin login I have changed the password using the reset password utility on the installation disk but the problem remains.
I have a nagging suspicion that a HD clean up utility may have done something but this could be a red herring
Any ideas? My only ideas left are to set up another admin account to see if this cures things but I suspect if it does and I try and use this new account I will end having to change the admin privileges of files throughout the system! I also have the option of using a bootable clone startup disk I made a couple of weeks ago using Carbon Copy Cloner but I am not sure if the problem existed then.

But to be honest I'm not sure really how. I had to switch the mac off using the power off switch (as I couldn't shut down from the GUI). Then I started it up holding down the 'D' key - in fact I did this on the wrong basis as I thought this would allow me to boot up from my clone external startup disk (it doesn't - it forces the internal hard drive to be the boot drive not an external one). 'D' must also stand for Divine inspiration. I then found the problem to have gone so I took the opportunity to verify and repair permissions using Disk Utility - there were a few repairs required on system level looking files) and everything seems fine (fingers crossed)

I have no Admin account now, and keeps asking me to: Type an administrator's name and password to allow this.

i've installed the new beta Yosemite. After i found i didnt like it, i decided to return to Mavericks. Now, at the installation process i dont know what happened and now i dont have any admin account. so, the system keeps asking me to Type an administrator's name and password to allow this. and i cant do anything, because i only have an standard and a guest account. How can i make my standard account an admin one. Also, this makes me sick, because i cant install or configure anything.

Do you still have a Recovery partition? To see if you do, hold down the command and R keys whilst booting and erase your boot drive and then reinstall the version of OS X that you last paid for or downloaded.
Call back if that doesn't work...

The Solaris 8 installation program doesn't ask what the machine's default route should be. This means that when you configure DNS servers later on that aren't on the same subnet as the machine you get error messages.
Anyone know a work around?

I had the same problem.
I was wondering why something so essential is missing for the GUI Install, it would be possilbe a patch to correct this?, instead of configuring nsswitch, and another files.
The easier the install and admin, more users solaris will have on Intel Platform.

Admin name and password says invalid EVERYTIME

hi, i'm trying to download the trial for photoshop, and when i wanted to start the set up, it said +'type an administrator's name and password to allow setup to make changes'+, so i typed in the admin name and password that i type in when i'm logging in (when turning on the macbook) and
it just keeps saying its invalid. ('sorry, you entered an invalid username or password')
the same happened with everything else i tried to download.

You've undoubtedly "lost" you admin account. To make sure open System Preference->Accounts and look at your account in the left corner and it should say "admin" below it. If it doesn't you've lost it. It's a Leopard bug.

What is asking you for an admin name and password? What does the dialog say, exactly?
What model iMac are you using, and which OS version?
If it is earlier than Lion or Snow Leopard, try deleting the printer and adding it again as explained in this document

Safari doesn't save my Vodafone username and password

In preparation for iCloud Keychain, I am moving all of my logins out of RoboForm and into Safari.
However, Safari doesn't offer to save my username and password for Vodafone.co.uk, which is one of my most frequently visited sites.
I was having the same problem with my PayPal account, but the Lap Cats AutoComplete extension fixed it. Still no luck with Vodafone, though.

I do have the preferences set to Autofill usernames and passwords - it does work for most sites - Amazon, Play.com etc.

First on Safari, go to Safari > Preferences > Passwords
Delete the vodafone website url if you see it there. Don't worry if it's not in the list.
Open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utilties
Select Passwords on the left. Then type vodafone in the search field top right corner of the window.
Delete saved vodafone keychains by control clicking the keychain then click Delete.
Back to Safari. Navigate to the vodafone website. Enter your user name and password as usual. Click Yes when prompted to save your password to a new keychain.
Do the same for any other sites that won't save passwords.
