Where do all these "What will happen to Java if Sun goes under" posts come from? I mean, this is a company that spent over $400 million in R&D last year! Their turnover is comparable to small nations' GNP. What's the story, why the panic?
And what about the "is Sun good for Java"? What does this quesiton mean? "Does Java benefit from Sun?" How would you even begin to quantify this? Would Java be better if IBM owned it? We can only speculate. I like to speculate that in this case Java would be spelt with a small j, and elseif would have no space...
Sorry if this sounds narky, I'm a bit sleep deprived and the damn c++ program I'm working on has memory leaks. This doens't happen me with Java! Is java good for programmers? This we can answer :)

Mac book pro, Turns off and goes under protection especially with an External monitor on.

Turns off and goes under protection, sometimes without any specific motivation, but most of the time when an External monitor is pluged-in.
I use it when I work with final cut pro, and this problem it's becoming huge and changing my workplans....
It can turns off also 10 times in two hours.
In many forums I read that the CPU temp could be the problem, but I've checked it and It's always around 62°-68°....
In some others they say that the new RAM could be the problem too.
Is anybody able to help me? (Underneath you can check the Panic Report and my mac informations)

Stop images from going under the panels?

I don't know what happened but recently when I dock an image it resizes to the entire size of the photoshop window. The image edge stops on the left at the tool bar but on the right it goes underneath my panels. Another thing that started at the same time is an issue with mini bridge, as you can see it's attached to my panel but when I click the arrow to expand it it pushes the rest of the panel to the right and off screen.
Also I've been having issues with the "Fit Screen" button. I used to be able to have the window a certain size and when I'd hit Fit Screen the the window would keep its size but the image would zoom so there were those grey areas around the image, now when I Fit Screen it resizes the window as well. I've checked that the Zoom Resizes Window option is unchecked but nothing works. Please help! I know that there is an application frame option for Mac that supposedly fixes these issues but I'm on a PC (Windows7) so I don't have that option.

If you dock the panels on the right (layers,etc) like the toolbox is docked that will stop the image from going under the panels.
Just grab the top of the panels (red box in screenshot) and move to the right until you see a blue line, then release.

How possibly dust going under the back glass of the phone?

I see some specs of dust under the back glass of my iPhone4S. How possibly is that? It seems that the glass is perfectly attached to the back, how could they go there? Is there any solution for me to swap them out or how to prevent more dust going underneath the glass? Since there is no Apple service in my country, so it seems that I have to deal with it? You shouldn't be using the same account on phone iphones. Have him setup his own and make sure his iCloud is logged in with that one

You need to confirm with Topaz that it's compatible with PSE 12. Often updates are required for new versions.

Drivers for Sun Floppy under Win 2000 on SUN Pci card.

I'm running a Sun Blade 150 with Solaris 8. I have a Sun Pci card with Windows 2000 loaded. When Win2k boots, it asks for drivers for a "sun floppy". I've looked around for these drivers but I can't find them. Can anyone point me to them. Thanks.

Take a closer look at the actual card,
particularly at the central Ethernet chip.
If I recall correctly, it is a DEC DC2115x chipset for 10/100Mbit connectivity,
and should be natively recognized by Linux.
The 501-5406 QFE card, as shown on a 3rd party web site.
Install it and boot your system.
You should know in just a few moments whether it'll work,
or whether the Sun firmware is of any concern.

Menubar going under other items

I have created a menubar but when i select somthing from it which opens a new container into the main frame which contains another panel at the top and a canvas in the middle when i look at the menubar again i have a problem with the menubar going behind the canvas and cannot see certain items on the dropdown list.
any suggestions would me appreciated

a) Why are we opening another container from the menu bar ?
Suggestion : Even if you want to open something which should act as container , Use Internal Frame. So that there will be only one container with conent pane and all the child components will be visible.
Correct MenuBar lies above the content pane, of the container. So if you open the internal frame menubar will still be visible.
b) Opening an another container as you have done will provide system 2 containers. And as containers are heavy components there will be issue with painting.

Debating whether to get a new blackberry... common Torch issues? what happens to support/warranty if RIM goes under?

Hi, thinking of getting a new Blackberry but I'm a bit nervous of buying into a potentially buggy phone with all the rumours of RIM going belly up.
What have been the most typical issues with Torch, especially the newer models?
I know with my Curve, as much as I've loved it, it is only a year old and has had problems with randomly rejecting its SIM card (new SIM card = $$$ and pain in the butt to have to go visit the store etc.), track pad stops working at times, keyboard backlight stops working at times (usually when I'm in the dark of course), and now the display is hooped. So, maybe that extended warranty would have been worth it but since I still have to pay out the remainder of my contract on that phone before I can get new, I'm thinking that diving into another Blackberry adventure could be problematic even WITH extended warranty if support will no longer be available for it?
On the other hand, I DON'T like the layout of iphone, and I found Blackberry to be pretty intuitive to learn and use comfortably, plus the price is right on my phone plan at the moment. IF ongoing support is going to be available, I would prefer to stick it out with Blackberry.

Video podcasts going under music

everytime i download a video podcast and copy it to my ipod, it wont show up under video, only under music, and then it will only play only in strictly audio. any ideas?

Except for ones I've re-converted myself after download, mine show up on the iPod in Videos > Video Pod > Podcast Name > Podcast Edition Name
Specifically "Ripplecasts" downloaded manually from iTunes show up here, as well as, podcasts subscribed to via the iTunes "Advanced" option using the URL "http://homepage.mac.com/jrwalker4/podcast.xml"
If you try these and get different results, then there may be some preference difference in iTunes or iPod settings which might be worth looking into more deeply.

Is SUN Going to be here in a year?

That stock price is looking dramatically bad. 4 dollars. Ouch!
If not, how will that effect java...

If SUN does go away I guess we can sell out to M$ and pick up C# seeing as how its almost identical to Java. As Windows is almost identical to the Mac OS that came out 10 years before it. And how MS Word is almost identical to WordPerfect and every other Microsoft program that looks like some other program because they stole someone elses bright idea and marketed it with thier billion dollar advertising team. I'm not a Mac user either I do use Windows and I do like despite its flaws, but I recognize that its a stolen idea and if Macs had the software that windows gets I would probably be using one.
