Sun Java enterprise System 2005Q1 installation problems

I have installed 2005q1 parts in my solaris 5.8 box and had some problems running sussessfully portal server and access manager. So I had to uninstall them again.
The uninstaller from /var/sadm/prod/entsys/uninstaller did not give me option to un install all components, so I have removed some packegs using pkgrm command.
Now I am trying to reinstall webserver/directory server/access manager again and now getting the follwoing problems.

it seems that you have not uninstalled the previous entire installation. You can clear all installation manually. first, you need remove all information about your previour installation in "/var/sadm/install/productregistry" file, and then deleted the previous installation directory , now suppose you can reinstall it successfully again, good luck!

    Hi,
    I've downloaded the trial version of Java Studio Standard 5 IDE and have bypassed the version hooks to load it on Fedora Core 2. It's get past the questions but hangs after pressing "Next" on the "Select the components" page. Any solutions, I don't want to hear, use Java Desktop or Redhat 7.2, I don't like Java Desktop and I'm not going back to a unsupported Redhat OS.

  • Install problems - Java Enterprise System Directory Server on AS3.0

    I'm trying to get the new 5.2p3 version of the DS installed, using the Java Enterprise System installer, but am having some problems. I've attempted to install this one two separate systems, both running RHEL AS3.0 Update 4 - one worked great, the other not so much.
    On the system that failed, the install reported success, but it failed to create the appropriate directories for the instance (slapd-<instance>) or the scripts for the admin server (start-admin, stop-admin). It's like it's not actually creating the instance properly on this system (even though it works properly on the other).
    Has anyone run into this, or have any ideas how to get this to install properly? I'm fairly new to this software, but this is driving me insane - two similar systems, same OS, very different results...
    Any help would be most appreciated...

    I had a similar problem with SuSE. You might want to make sure that no JRE is installed prior to your 10g Forms and Reports Server installation. I got rid of the OS installed JRE, and the 10g installation went fine.

    I vaguely remember that there was a Messaging Server bug that
    caused it to fail because JavaMail was sending it two packets
    containing the data but it was expecting all the data to be in one
    packet. I thought JavaMail was fixed to send it one packet, to
    avoid the bug, and I thought the server was fixed as well so be
    sure to check for relevant patches. And be sure you're using the
    latest version of JavaMail.
    If I remember correctly, telnet was batching the data for the entire
    line and sending it in a single packet, which is why it worked when
    using telnet.
    You might try a network protocol analyzer (sniffer) like snoop on
    Solaris or tcpdump on Linux to see exactly what packets are being
    sent.

  • Cannot find java.exe when executing Sun Java Enterprise 8.1

    I downloaded and installed Sun Java Enterprise 8.1 (actually because I kept getting not enough space messages I downloaded it in 3 parts). When attempting to execute by clicking on the icon I keep getting a message saying "cannot find java.exe". I previously installed the java runtime successfully. Is anyone familiar with this and if so how do I get around it. I am running Win2k SP4 on a laptop. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

    Hi,
    I faced same problem. I had jdk 1.5.0_05 installed on C: drive directly. But When I check the log though the installation found the version it was assuming it to be at 'C:\Program Files\Java' so even after finding the installed JDK it was failing. When I copied the JDK at 'C:\Program Files\Java' and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Sun java studio 8 again, at this time it asked me about which JDK to use! Then there I could point to C:\jdk1.5.0_05. Then everything went through fine. I guess this is some problem in installation code. Try this out.

  • How To make/configure  Broadband connection in Sun java desktop system

    Hi all,
    I am using sun java desktop system Release 3 solaris 10 version in my sun ultra workstation. I have a problem with it. I can not make broadband connection , in it. so pls let me know how can i make broadband connection with my ADSL modem ?
    Thanks
    Partha

    Try this:
    Log into a termina as rootl. (Select failsafe terminal or command login)
    To get the name of your network interface driver, type:
    /usr/sbin/ifconfig -a You'll see something like this:
    lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
    hme0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
    inet 129.156.226.245 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 129.156.226.255
    In my case it is hme0 so I create a file called /etc/dhcp.hme0:
    touch /etc/dhcp.hme0If you want to set a hostname, put it in a file called /etc/hostname.hme0 for example:
    rm /etc/hostname.hme0
    echo myhostname > /etc/hostname.hme0Most broadband providers preconfigure ADSL modems to default to DHCP so if you do this, connect the ultra 10 to the broadband modem and reboot, the ultra 10 should pick up an IP address and be connected to the internet.

  • Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-0.15 outgoing mail issue

    Hi,
    We are running Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-0.15 (built Feb  9 2007).
    with this java code if i change  email.setFrom(SenderEmial);   to any other email address than the mail server will send email form that email instead of authenticated which is a problem for us so that any one can misuse it. i need help regarding this issue.I think its due to lack of SSL security so i want to know that how i can enable SSL.
      Email email = new SimpleEmail();
        email.setSmtpPort(25);
        email.setAuthenticator(new DefaultAuthenticator("[email protected]","myPass"));
        email.setDebug(false);
        email.setHostName("mail.sunjavamail.com");
        email.setFrom(SenderEmial);  //By changing this my mail server is sending emails from any email address.
        email.setSubject("Hi");
        email.setMsg("Test Mail");
        email.addTo("[email protected]");
          // email.setTLS(true);
       // email.setSSL(true);
        email.send();
        System.out.println("Done");
    Thanks..

    Hi,
    I do not think this is unusual.  Out of the box there are no restrictions on From: addresses, they're not required to match the domain of the sender or match up with DNS results.  You can configure various restrictions or even modify the from address based on the users authenticated credentials, but not by default.
    See the following documentation for details on restricting From: addresses:

    Dear All,
    I am having Sun Java(TM) System Web Server 6.1 SP7 installed on Windows 2000 Prof.
    I have deployed few applications and they were running successfully.
    From debugging point of view, i like to see the output from System.out.println .
    Prior to SP7 there is a console which shows this output. But now the batch files only starts and stops the admin and site server services. Where to see for console output?
    Is there command like tail.exe of Weblogic awailable for Sun Java System Web Server or any setting to be done in Admin?

  • Install Sun Java Web System on Fedora / Registering in Netbeans

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Sun Java System Webserver onto Fedora 64 bit - I am not bothered about running a server locally, I have a development server for testing before deployment - however, I need to get a working install to let Netbeans recognise it as a valid target server. As far as I am aware, all Netbeans needs when deploying to a remote server is some libraries associated with that J2EE server. So first of all I tried just pulling the tree of an installed and working server off another box - however, Netbeans won't play ball.
    When trying to install the server on Fedora I get an error regarding
    /sun/webserver7/lib/libfreebl3.so: version `NSSRAWASH_3.12.3' not found
    Any ideas, if not, any ideas how to 'trick' Netbeans into thinking the server is installed?
    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies, so far I have managed to persuade netbeans to recognise the broken install by adding this block to ~/.netbeans/6.5/config/J2EE/InstalledSerers/.nbattrs
    <fileobject name="instance">
    <attr name="LocalServer" stringvalue="true"/>
    <attr name="SSLAdminPort" stringvalue="true"/>
    <attr name="configName" stringvalue="tom-desktop"/>
    <attr name="displayName" stringvalue="Sun Java System Web Server 7.0"/>
    <attr name="password" stringvalue="xxxxxxxx"/>
    <attr name="registeredWithoutUI" stringvalue="false"/>
    <attr name="url" stringvalue="[/home/twerner/webserver7]deployer:Sun:WebServer70::localhost:8989"/>
    <attr name="username" stringvalue="admin"/>
    </fileobject>However, it would be good to get the server actually working...
    I am running Fedora 11 - 64 Bit (I like to live dangerously :-))
    I am attempting to do the install using the seperate Web server installer on its own, downloaded direct from Sun's site (v7u5).
    Here is the log file : [http://pastebin.com/f716536d6]
    Installed nss packages:

    http://blogs.sun.com/factotum/
    How do i configure my messaging server to send outgoing mails through existing gateway and recieve inbound mails from the same gateway?There is two steps to this.
    To configure outgoing emails to be relayed through a gateway, you need to modify the <msg_base>/config/imta.cnf MTA configuration file and add "deamon <gateway hostname>" to your tcp_local channel configuration e.g.
    ! tcp_local
    tcp_local smtp mx single_sys remotehost inner switchchannel identnonenumeric subdirs 20 maxjobs 7
    pool SMTP_POOL maytlsserver maysaslserver saslswitchchannel tcp_auth missingrecipientpolicy 0
    loopcheck daemon mygateway.com
    tcp-daemonTo allow the gateway system to send emails to your host unconditionally, modify the <msg_base>/config/mappings MTA configuration fail and add the gateway's IP address to the INTERNAL_IP mapping table e.g. (where the gateway has an IP of 1.2.3.4 and your system has an IP of 192.168.1.20)
    INTERNAL_IP
      $(192.168.1.20/24)  $Y
      $(1.2.3.4/32)            $Y
      127.0.0.1  $Y
      *  $NOnce you have done this you will need to rebuild the MTA configuration cache and restart the MTA processes.
    <msg_base>/sbin/imsimta cnbuild
    <msg_base>/sbin/imsimta restart
    Currently my server is connected to the internet directly i am able to send a mail to an external domain for example gmail. Can anyone help me out in understanding the default functioning of external mail routing and how do i point to a gateway?For the understanding, you will need to read-up the manuals. Messaging server is a flexible and powerful product for sending/processing emails, but with that flexibility comes complexity. I suggest you start by reading the Messaging Server Administration Guide:

  • Sun, take responsibility for appserver7 installation problems!

    *** First set of problems...
    I'm having installation problems on both Solaris 8, (Ultra 480, 1GB RAM, latest recommended patches) and a Windows 2000 Server with SP2 (1GHz P4, 512MB RAM).
    I chose default installation directory and then the install
    complains that Pointbase 4.2 should be installed into the
    same directory etc. Cannot unselect the Sample apps and
    Pointbase options.
    *** Second problem...
    I have an instance previously installed on Windows 2000
    Professional with SP2.(1GHz PIII, 512MB RAM, 5GB space)
    When i start application server 7.0 , then i get the following
    message:
    Could not start the instance: domain1:admin-server
    Server failed to start:abnormal subprocess termination
    Could not start the instance: domain1:server1
    Server failed to start: abnormal subprocess termination
    Could not start one or more instances in the domain:domain1
    Could not start one or more domains
    Press any key to continue ...

    When you say that you choose the default installation directory and then the installer complained about Pointbase, what platform where you using? Had you already attempted installs in the past or uninstallations that did not complete properly?
    For your second issue, did you happen to change the host name of your machine? Try cranking up the log level (edit server.xml) to see what's causing the instances to fail on startup. Did the application ever start up after install? What things did you do just prior to the server exhibiting this behaviour?

    You are correct. Dir 5.2 is not certified for AIX 5.2. It does install though. Like a previous reponse stated. Check the permissions for the user you are installing with and the file system you are installing to. Make certain you have enough disk space. My install took 150 MB of disk space. Finally, Dir 5.2 creates the file "/var/adm/sw/productregistry" during install. If you do not have permissions to /var/adm/sw, you may have troubles.
