Sun JAVA ES on SuSE - configuration failed

Documentation for Sun JAVA ES says it is supported on RedHat. What are the chances that SuSE will also be supported.
I attempted to install Sun JAVA ES on OpenSuSE 10.1. Taking one step at a time I installed the the Web Server and JavaDB The installation appeared to go fine but the configurations failed:
Installation Summary Report
Install Summary
Java Enterprise System 5 : Installed
Sun Java(TM) System Web Server 7.0 : Installed, Configuration Failed
Java DB : Installed, Configure After Install
Could someone tell me where I start to look to troubleshoot why the Configuration failed.
Thanks

John,
it looks like TID 7007653 - if you are wondering why you couldn't find
it, it's because the TID did not mention the specific error, I had to
hunt through bugzilla to find it. I have (as I hope you can see)
updated the TID so that others should be able to find it without having
to go through your pain...

  • Sun Java System Access Manager 7.1 config. failed during installation

    {color:#0000ff}Hi,
I have installed sun java communication suite 5 on a single host on sun solaris 10.
I have installed required packages and it works fine.
But as per organization need, I have to change domain name.
So i have uninstalled everything and tried to install again with new domain name.
I have made proper entries in hosts file and resolve.conf file.
But duing the first phase of installation only , i failed in configuring access manager 7.1
I have also cerate same scenario in my test environment, but everytime i face the same error.
and sun java access manager 7.1 fails in first stage of installation only.
So would like to know the proper installation procedure while i change the domain name on same hardware...
I have checked both installation logs & summary logs.
But no error, no failed , no severe.

  • Error When Installing Sun Java System Application Server 9.1

    Hi,
I"m trying to install the server to take [The Java EE 5 Tutorial|http://download.oracle.com/javaee/5/tutorial/doc/javaeetutorial5.pdf]. I found that +C:\Sun\AppServer\bin+ was added to my PATH environment variable, which is correct.
I get the message that the installation failed and I'm refered to the install log, which is under my signature.
Any suggestions you could provide would be appreciated. I'm trying to refresh my Java skills after a 5-year absence. I've been playing around with it for two days, installing and unstalling, verifying to be sure I got it right.
    Thanks,
    Lou

ah yes, that would certainly be a problem.
in fact, the database is what doesn't like the asterisk (as you
can see, IfsConfig couldn't care less, which we have logged as a
    bug).
try using SQL*Plus to create a new user:
    CREATE USER MY_TEST_USER IDENTIFIED BY BAD_PASS*WORD;
you'll probably get a similar error.

  • Configuring Outbound and Inbound SMTP mails with SUN Java messaging system

    hi all,
i am new to Solaris i have deployed SUN java comuunication Suite. How do i configure my messaging server to send outgoing mails through existing gateway and recieve inbound mails from the same gateway?
Currently my server is connected to the internet directly i am able to send a mail to an external domain for example gmail. Can anyone help me out in understanding the default functioning of external mail routing and how do i point to a gateway?

    Hi,

i am new to Solaris i have deployed SUN java comuunication Suite. Welcome. Some good resources you should look at are the following:

    http://blogs.sun.com/factotum/
How do i configure my messaging server to send outgoing mails through existing gateway and recieve inbound mails from the same gateway? There is two steps to this.
To configure outgoing emails to be relayed through a gateway, you need to modify the <msg_base>/config/imta.cnf MTA configuration file and add "deamon <gateway hostname>" to your tcp_local channel configuration e.g.
    ! tcp_local
tcp_local smtp mx single_sys remotehost inner switchchannel identnonenumeric subdirs 20 maxjobs 7
pool SMTP_POOL maytlsserver maysaslserver saslswitchchannel tcp_auth missingrecipientpolicy 0
    loopcheck daemon mygateway.com
tcp-daemonTo allow the gateway system to send emails to your host unconditionally, modify the <msg_base>/config/mappings MTA configuration fail and add the gateway's IP address to the INTERNAL_IP mapping table e.g. (where the gateway has an IP of 1.2.3.4 and your system has an IP of 192.168.1.20)
    INTERNAL_IP
      $(192.168.1.20/24)  $Y
      $(1.2.3.4/32)            $Y
      127.0.0.1  $Y
      *  $NOnce you have done this you will need to rebuild the MTA configuration cache and restart the MTA processes.
    <msg_base>/sbin/imsimta cnbuild
    <msg_base>/sbin/imsimta restart
Currently my server is connected to the internet directly i am able to send a mail to an external domain for example gmail. Can anyone help me out in understanding the default functioning of external mail routing and how do i point to a gateway? For the understanding, you will need to read-up the manuals. Messaging server is a flexible and powerful product for sending/processing emails, but with that flexibility comes complexity. I suggest you start by reading the Messaging Server Administration Guide:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4428

  • Deployment failed. Building failed using sun java application server

    Hi
am using netbean 6 ,glassfish v2 and sun java application server 9
When am try to run my jsp file am getting Deployment error report with further error given below.
    Deployment error:
The Sun Java System Application Server could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - IDE timeout: refresh the server node to see if it's running now.
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used by the operating system.)
    - Incorrect server configuration (domain.xml to be corrected manually)
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications preventing the server to start.(This can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified).
    - Invalid installation location.
See the server log for details.

BUILD FAILED (total time: 44 seconds)

    Hi,
I've found that if you remove the j2ee-application element related to the enterprise app you are trying to deploy from Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\config\domain.xml, and also remove your enterprise j2ee-app directory from Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\applications\j2ee-apps\, it works.
This is not a permanent solution. I get the same error again, when I try to redeploy the application for the third time. Hope someone can help soon!
    Thanks.

The installation complete but Calendar Server could not be started with start-cal command throwing a configuration error. I've searched on google and on this forum to find a solution but seems that no one has encountered a similar problem. Hope can find some help.

    hi all,
How to configure Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 to my IDE..( jstudio)
I have installed jes for my windows system.. so that i have removed platform version of Application Server..

Configuring your IDE to integrate with Sun App Server is something you probably will have to ask in some sort of JStudio forum. Other than for Netbeans, Eclipse, or possibly IntelliJ IDEA, you might not have much luck answering an IDE question here. I could be wrong though. Maybe somebody will have an answer for you and set me straight.
