Sun java makes windows go crazy

I did an automatic update on 1/9/06 of Sun Java 1.5.0 and since then, I'm having a crazy thing happen once a day. With several stockcharts and other windows open, they all suddenly start moving around the screen, pieces of them appear in other places, they disappear and reappear, the colors change. The only way to stop it is to reboot, after which everything is ok again until the next day.
Can anyone please help me solve this problem? Thank you.
IE 6.0
WinXP SP2
Sun Java 1.5.0

Make sure you have anti-aliasing set to Application-Controlled: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/5000041100.xml
Make sure you've updated to the latest video drivers.
Make sure Directx is updated to the latest version.
If that still doesn't work read http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=661574 and then try adding to your environment JAVAOPTIONS variable -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false. If that doesn't work try -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
If the problem was AA, then and you still want to force all 3d applications to use AA and you don't want to keep changing your graphics card display options, you can disable java's use of the Direct3D by setting an environment variable JAVAOPTIONS to -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false. This will allow you to keep your AA settings. Disabling Direct3D is the proposed update to 1.5 to fix this bug. See http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6311320

  • 64-bit SUN java for Windows 64-bit x64?

    Hi
Anyone who knows if SUN has released a 64-bit version of SUN JDK 1.4.x to be used on a Windows x64 installation?
I haven't been able to find it, but SAP's PAM tells that SAP NW04s is supported for SUN JDK 1.4.2 x64 Windows!
    Best regards
    Tom

    Hello,
I'm trying to install IDES 4.7 Retail on a 64-bit Dual XEON machine on Windows 2003 Enterprise x64.
I have used the AMD64 version of JDK 1.4.2, but I don't think it's helping. The first time I ran JDK 1.4.2.13 AMD64, the java setup threw a warning/error that the architecture is not compatible. It worked fine the next time I ran it.
MS SQL 2000 has installed itself as a 32-bit version!! And later on, SAPINST failed to install when running the file setup.cmd (from installation CD #5039652) -- it uses JAVA_HOME to detect the processor's architecture and it looks for AMD64 directory inside the installation directory, which does not exist (only I386 exists).
    Questions:
    1) Is XEON 64-bit compatible with IDES 4.7 Retail?
    2) Is there a compatible version of JDK 1.4 for XEON 64?
    3) Is it safe to use JDK 6 and will other applications/installations see the system as a 64-bit machine?
    4) Do certain Windows updates/patches/hotfixes affect any of the installations?
    Thank you

  • Sun Java Console/JRE

I installed JRE 1.2.2 and was able to run the Sun Java Console, I then installed JRE 1.3.1_04, now I can not open the Sun Java Console Window, I get an hour glass when I select Java Plug-In Control Panel, the hour glass disappears and nothing happens. I am able to build, deploy, run Java apps, but I require the Console Window to be open, there are some values that I need when running the app through IE 5.5
I have tried several things, removing the JRE and reinstalling but doesn't seem to work. Has anyone come across this problem? If so, what did they do to rectify the problem?

    Hello,
Finally, I've met your situation. I guess this is due to different JRE directories and registries in different Windows version, I can't fix it. :P
I use a workaround for myself. If none of your current Java Console show up, try install Plug-in 1.4.1_01 or 02 or the newest version. Then use Plug-in 1.4.1_02 Console, to choose your old version of JRE 1.2.2 and make sure only this Plug-in activates IE browser. At last attachs any parameters you needed with the current selected JRE.
If any of your Plug-in can show up, then no need to install newer Plug-in. Just select your target JRE 1.2.2 inside current Plug-in.
    That's it!

  • Sun Java System Application Server installation location on windows

    Hi there...
I'm just doing the "Your First Cup: An Introduction to the Java EE Platform" tutorial for the first time. I'm trying to add the Sun Java System Application Server in NetBeans IDE. It's asking me to select the Platform Location, and I have no idea where that is. No help instructions I've found say where it normally gets installed, and I've found now mention of it on the web.
Can anyone tell me the location where this is supposed to be located? I HAVE installed the Java EE SDK 5 for Windows. The location it offers as a default is "C:\Program Files\glassfish-v2ur2\", but there is a red message at the bottom of the dialog that reads "Provide a valid Application Server Installation Location for 'Sun Java System App...". The Register Local Default Domain drop-down box has not options to select, either.
I would try and search some more, but I just don't know what to search for. If anyone can offer any insight into this, I appreciate it.
    Thanks a ton!!!
    Orion Carrier

I`ve posted a shorter version of the question in the hopes of getting a timely answer. Thanks

Googling the net for this error message leads to the same issue reported while installing other software as well:
    Solution
Download and install the Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 (InstMsi.exe) from Microsoft's Web site at www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32832&newlist=1
    - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836724
This article describes a similar problem while installing sqlserver but may be applicable in this case:
This problem occurs when both of the following conditions are true:
The DefaultAccessPermissions binary value exists under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Ole registry key
The user account that has logged on to the computer to install ... does not have default access permissions for Distributed Component Object Module (DCOM) applications.
The above articles provide possible resolutions as well.

  • Sun java plugin for Safari for windows

    Dear Friends
I have installed Safari in Windows XP. I tried to load my applet through safari. It doesn't ask for signing and doesn't run the applet. Actually safari uses its own java plugin . Is there any option to use sun java plugin for that one and run the signed applets. please reply immediately

We (Sun) don't have much experience with Safari on Windows at this point. Going forward, the new Java Plug-In in 6u10 should work with Safari on Windows, once Safari upgrades their NPAPI and NPRuntime interfaces to the versions in Firefox 3.

  • How To make/configure  Broadband connection in Sun java desktop system

    Hi all,
I am using sun java desktop system Release 3 solaris 10 version in my sun ultra workstation. I have a problem with it. I can not make broadband connection , in it. so pls let me know how can i make broadband connection with my ADSL modem ?
    Thanks
    Partha

    Try this:
Log into a termina as rootl. (Select failsafe terminal or command login)
To get the name of your network interface driver, type:
    /usr/sbin/ifconfig -a You'll see something like this:
    lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
    hme0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
    inet 129.156.226.245 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 129.156.226.255
In my case it is hme0 so I create a file called /etc/dhcp.hme0:
touch /etc/dhcp.hme0If you want to set a hostname, put it in a file called /etc/hostname.hme0 for example:
    rm /etc/hostname.hme0
echo myhostname > /etc/hostname.hme0Most broadband providers preconfigure ADSL modems to default to DHCP so if you do this, connect the ultra 10 to the broadband modem and reboot, the ultra 10 should pick up an IP address and be connected to the internet.

  • Why does Sun Java 1.4.2 not run in IE (Windows XP)?

Hi. I hope someone can help me. I have installed Windows XP SP1a and straight away, I removed MSJVM from my system using Microsoft's own Java Removal Tool (1.0a?), as it does the most thorugh job of removing the dated technology from the system.
However installing Sun Java into the system becomes a problem. It installs fine, with no errors, the ActiveX modules are installed into IE and the Sun Java option is present under Advanced Internet Options, however any Java applets embedded in HTML (eg www.jpilot.com/chat.html) will not load at all. I will just get the white box with a cross, the standard placeholder from IE when it can't run the embedded object. Is Sun Java dependant on a certain old MSJava file/component being installed?

I am unable to resolve this. The error shown by java console is:-
