    I just had the same problem this morning. I believe the app server starts and if you browser directly to your app you'd get it, but the connection between the appserver and the IDE is somehow lost. An easier solution than completely reinstalling for me was to delete the .Creator folder in my home directory (C;|Documents and Setting\<username>\.Creator) and restart Creator

  • Sun Java Web Server 7 and JNDI Jell

    Hi all,
    I am building a normal Java EE web app (WAR file), and I was originally developing on GlassFish v2.1 and everything was beautiful. Now, I found out our shared server is Sun Java Web Server 7, but the sys admin said everything should run fine as long as I wasn't using JSB's.
    I downloaded and installed SJWS7 on my local machine so I could test my application against it, and JPA and SJWS7 are not getting along.
    I am trying to bind my persistence.xml to the data source I created on SJWS7.
    SJWS7 JDBC Resource: jdbc/pact
    persistence.xml:
        <persistence-unit name="pact" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL">
            <description>PA/Circuit Tracking Development</description>
            <provider>org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence</provider>

            <properties>
            ....There is nothing in sun-web.xml or web.xml that references this resource (although I tried that too, and no go).
    The traceback I get is:

  • Java Portal Server

    Hi,
    I am using Sun Studio Creator to develop a portal application. Obviously, I need a portal container to deploy my portlets to.
    Who would host a Java Portal Server System? Do you have a solution for that?
    Note: My Java skills are kind of limited.
    Thanks

    Sun Java Enpterprise System 2005Q1 supports Solaris 10 for both Sparc and x86. You can get JES bits under http://www.sun.com/software/javaenterprisesystem/get.xml

  • Sun Java Application Server 9 Start Up Woes

    Hi,
    I was asked to install the netbeans 5.5 IDE (which comes with Java Application Server 9 bundled with it) and basically learn how to develop using JMS. After installing everything and following the JavaEE tutorial, I began to set everything up. I get hung during the Sun Java Application Server 9 start up.
    It attempts to bind to my host name. After a week of research as to the cause, i discovered that the problem is that the server gets my host name from DNS and uses that as its bind location. The software running at my place of business prevents me from making connections such as these with anything but localhost connections.
    I descovered this when I read on here from another topic that i should try and start the server after disabling my network card. This method works in that the server starts up, no longer using my host name as the host but rather using localhost. Now this in no way fixes my problem.
    I was wondering if there were any workarounds that would force the application server or netbeans or whatever to use localhost isntead of doing a host name lookup?
    The error I got was a NoRouteToHostException, and when I disabled my network card that error went away, the error changed to UnknownHostException, but the server started up and I was then able to go to the admin page and deploy applications (but not run)
    P.S. I was going to post the output of the server start ups, but the size is crazy long, if you have a way for me to remove the stack trace I would be glad to give it a try.

    Linux Fedora Core, by the way.

    I switched to ActiveMQ and it works perfectly.
    The issue had to do with Netbeans, no matter how many config files i changed, always used my computername.host.com:8686 instead of localhost:8686.
    ActiveMQ starts and runs beautifully because it binds to localhost:8686.
    I dont know what the problem was, Ive read lots of solutions saying its firewall or a firewall like process. I'm running bare bones Linux Fedora Core with no extra programs. I insured my firewall was turned off before even posting this. I spoke with my IT guys and they said that the firewall thats set up here at work does not block port binds.
    My conclusion: IDEs are more of a pain then they want you to believe, im going back to terminal commands.

  • Sun Java Directory server 6.3.1

    Hello,
    Anyone with knowledge to configure mail aliases in LDAP especially in Sun java directory server 6.x? I have already created the container ou=aliases
    The problem is i get the below error when I install LDAP client on a server:
    +Apr 23 18:32:00 Server1 sendmail[10032]: [ID 801593 mail.crit] n3NHW0HC010032: SYSERR(root): ldap_init/ldap_bind failed to localhost in map aliases.ldap: Can't connect to the LDAP server+
    I found that I dont have aliases not configured in LDAP, the mail host sits on a different server. Other than this my client works perfectly over SSL
    Thanks in advance
    sys

    Sys
    SOrry but this looks to me like you have serveral problems. Most of them are Sendmail related. Maybe it would be a better idea to ask in a sendmail forum instead of a Directory server forum. Since you have not posted any configs I can not more than speculate. Here are my guesses:
    Apr 29 11:58:21 server1 sendmail[3138]: [ID 801593 mail.info] n3TAwKaC003138: n3TAwKaD003138: return to sender: Host unknown (Name server: mailhost.xxxx.com: host not found)if mailhost.xxxx.com is an existing host then I guess you have a problem with DNS resolution. Are you able to resolve hosts other than those related to this case or infrastructure (eg. can you resolve www.google.com)? If not then you should have a look at /etc/resolv.conf. There shold be a series of nameserver lines followed by the IP-Addresses of the nameservers (Important: IPs . not names). Another source of error could be found in the "hosts:" line in /etc/nsswitch.conf (it ususally reads "hosts: files dns").
    Apr 29 12:04:22 server1 sendmail[3219]: [ID 801593 mail.crit] n3TB4Muk003218: SYSERR(root): ldap_init/ldap_bind failed to localhost in map aliases.ldap: Can't connect to the LDAP serverNow this means your sendmail is trying to connect to an LDAP Directory on the same host to resolve aliases. If the port is correct you might find in the <instance_root>/logs/access file further details about what the sendmail server tried and why it failed. If there is no entry in the access log this would mean that there is no LDAP-Server listening on the port sendmail connects to. Fact is that somewhere you "told" sendmail to connect to the ldap server and it is failing to do so.
    Apr 29 12:04:22 server1 sendmail[3219]: [ID 801593 mail.alert] n3TB4Muk003219: Losing ./qfn3TB4Muk003219: savemail panic
    Apr 29 12:04:22 server1 sendmail[3219]: [ID 801593 mail.crit] n3TB4Muk003219: SYSERR(root): savemail: cannot save rejected email anywhereNow this errormessage is normal if alias resolution does not work. An errormessage would be generated which is sent by the user MAILER-DEAMON. In sendmail default config MAILER-DEAMON is an alias for postmaster which is again an alias for root. But if teher is no aliases there is no "account" MAILER-DEAMON. This errormessage will most likely disapear as soon as you resolved the alias issue.
    So much for the errormessages. Unfortunately you are not very specific on your environment. I try to guess what I have understood and try to formulate queries which might help you to find the problem.
    - There is a host A running solaris 10 and an Sun Directory Server 6.3.1
    -- On what port is the server listening and what information can you get at its current configuration with an anonymous bind (eg. ldapsearch without username or password)
    -- You have setup a suffix on this server and created an ou=aliases
    -- Have you inserted the standard aliases (such as MAILER-DEAMON or postmaster)?
    - There is a host B which is the mailhost.
    -- B i trying to connect to localhost (so host B not A) to get informations from an LDAP. Is LDAP running on localhost yes or no? You are not clear on this topic.
    -- what did you (or anyone else) do to get the server to obtain aliases from an LDAP (this is not standard config - You need to modify settings to do this)
    -- it is definitely a good idea to define a global bunch of settings in confLDAP_DEFAULT_SPEC (especially the options -d -P -b -h should be set in your case most likely)
    If these hints do not solve your problems I definitely recommend posting in an sendmail forum and read the sendmail documentation (eg. https://www.sendmail.org/doc/sendmail-current/cf/README). As far as I know LDAP in sendmail is pretty new in std sendmail and you have to expect that documentation on this topic is still poor.
    Regards
    Martin

  • Oracle 9.0.1 and Sun Java Application Server problem

    Hello
    I am gonna configure Oracle's (9.0.1) thin JDBC driver (only for JDK 1.3) on Sun Java Application Server 8
    I copied the class12.zip to domain1/lib/ext. I add the usr name and passwd in domain1/config/domain.xml.
    it looks like
    <jdbc-connection-pool connection-validation-method="auto-commit" datasource-classname="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource" fail-all-connections="false" idle-timeout-in-seconds="300" is-connection-validation-required="false" is-isolation-level-guaranteed="false" max-pool-size="32" max-wait-time-in-millis="60000" name="OraclePool" pool-resize-quantity="2" res-type="javax.sql.DataSource" steady-pool-size="8">
    <property name="url" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ora9i"/>
    <property name="Password" value="tiger"/>
    <property name="User" value="scott"/>
    It doesn't work though. Anybody know the problem?
    Thanks a lot

    You should use the oracle 9.0.3 ojdbc14.jar or a later version, not classes12.zip.
    The config looks like for me:
    <jdbc-connection-pool connection-validation-method="auto-commit" datasource-classname="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource" fail-all-connections="false" idle-timeout-in-seconds="300" is-connection-validation-required="false" is-isolation-level-guaranteed="true" max-pool-size="32" max-wait-time-in-millis="60000" name="my-oracle-pool" pool-resize-quantity="2" res-type="javax.sql.DataSource" steady-pool-size="16">
    <property name="URL" value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:mydb"/>
    <property name="user" value="user"/>
    <property name="password" value="mypass"/>
    </jdbc-connection-pool>
    You will also need to boot the server after adding the jar files to lib/ext

    Hi all,
    I have seen in FAQ that there is a Java Portal Server 7 available for Windows since last December. But I am not able to find where I can download it.
    In the download section, I have found only the portal server 6.1 for SPARK but nothing about v7 for Windows =(
    May someone tell me how can I get this Portal Server 7 ?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Steps to execute servlets on Sun Java Application Server

    Hi
    Could u tell me how to deploy servlets files and how to execute
    In specs. the ask us to start cloudscape database server
    In my Sun Java Application Server installations, i am not find even a single name as cloudscape
    Please anyone guide me get the servelts to execute
    thank u

    What specs do you refer to?
    Sun Java System Application Server does not include Cloudscape, nor is it required. SJSAS does include a development copy of Pointbase DB Server.
    To deploy your servlet application you will need to package them into a WAR file (Web Archive). Then you can either use asadmin CLI or the admin gui to deploy the WAR. The steps are included here: http://docs.sun.com/source/816-7150-10/dwdeploy.html
    Now I'm going to assume you application uses Cloudscape. To get that piece running you will need to download and install Cloudscape. You will also need the JDBC drivers for Cloudscape. Copy the JDBC driver jar file to either the <serverinstancedir>/lib directory or modify the JVM settings to include that jar file. Restart the Application Server. You will also need to add a JDBC Resource & Connection Pool. In the admin, create a new connection pool (probably called Cloudscape). Use the appropriate settings for classname and add any additional properties that are necessary (Usually URL, User, Password). Now create a JDBC Resource using that Connection Pool. Make sure the JNDI name matches what your application expects.
    Now just access the URL for the application

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Connection Refused

    Hi,
    Got struck in this since yesterday. I am trying to connect to an Oracle server and the code is pretty much simple and am reproducing the relevant portion here.
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    Connection conn = null;
    try {
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@host_IP:1521:****","****","****");
    } catch(Exception e) { System.out.println(e); }
    conn.setAutoCommit(true);
    Statement s = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs;
    It gives me the following exception.
    >>
    java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=135294976)(ERR=12500)(ERROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12500)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12560)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=530)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(BUF='32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directory'))))

    at Test.main(Test.java:17)
    <<
    The line 17 is actually the statement,
    conn.setAutoCommit(true);
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Baskaran

    Hi Baskaran
    Actually i had the same problem which you are currently facing.
    Iam on unix box and when i tried to connect to DB for the first time using the same code piece which you wrote i got the same error and after breaking my head i came to know that the Oracle_SID i gave is incorrect
    Please check these entries in your code
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@host_IP:1521:*DBUsername,DBPassword,Oracle_SID*);
    To know oracle SID on unix box type this command
    $ ps -ef|grep -i smon
    oracle 740 1 0  ? 1:27 ora_smon_support
    oracle 29685 29681 0 17:24:47 pts/12 0:00 grep -i smon
    $ echo $ORACLE_SID
    support
    $
    On windows box logon to the Oracle Box (i.e., on which oracle is installed) and open the regedit and search for ORACLE_SID.
    Also make sure you give the correct oracleIPAddress, dbusername, dbpassword.
    Hope it will work fine.

  • Sun Java Web Server Exception

    I am running Sun Java Web Server 6.1 SP5 on a locked down Solaris 8 system. I am seeing a PrivilegedActionException, which encloses a FileIOException, when the code tries to initialize SSL (more specifically, reading the keystore file) to make a web service call. However, when I log in as the user that the web server is running as (iplanet), and I cut-n-paste the offending path from the error log to the ls command, I can see the file, verify that everyone has read permissions, and can even open the file via keytool sucessfully. Can someone point me towards what I am overlooking? I'm out of ideas; I can't see why I should be able to read the keystore file as the user, but the web application, running as the same user, can't.
    I apoligize for not pasting the exact error here. The system in question is not connected to the Internet.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I take it you have enabled the Java SecurityManager? That is rarely recommended, what's the end goal that led to that?
    Hopefully you can find a way to copy at least the most relevant parts (at least the last few most specific stack traces for each enclosing exception) of the error message, otherwise it is difficult to try to guess without data.
    Is the code trying to read or write to the file? Have you modified the default permissions?
    truss the process to see if the error is at that level or at the security manager level.
