Sun Java System Calendar Express Help
I've set up an appointment on Calendar Express and when I look at the calendar of the room I've set the appointment in, it's not there. I can see the appointment in my own calendar (both Outlook 2003 and Calendar Express), but not in the calendar of the location of the meeting (until about 24-48 hours later). Can somebody please help me figure out why meetings aren't being posted until a day or two after the initial setup?
Check the Time Zone of the conference room calendar. Is it set to a different zone than your default (Home) calendar?

Blank Page with sun Java System Calendar Express and IE6
Hi Everybody,
I saw a few threads related to my problem, but no solutions ....
When I try to open the Sun Java System Calendar Express web-interface with IE6, I get a blank page after the initial logon-screen. IE7 and Firefox do not show this problem - so I assume the server itself is working fine.
I run SJS-CS v6.3 with patch 121659-18 on Linux.
Otherwise the calendar server is working just fine - problem is, that I cannot switch all users to new/other browsers ...
Any ideas ?

I run SJS-CS v6.3 with patch 121659-18 on Linux.Let me just point out that calendar express is deprecated with CS6.3 (no more features/enhancements) so you should be looking to move to UWC/CE.
Otherwise the calendar server is working just fine - problem is, that I cannot switch all users to new/other browsers ...Did this problem start when you upgraded to 6.3 or is this a new installation?

The installation complete but Calendar Server could not be started with start-cal command throwing a configuration error. I've searched on google and on this forum to find a solution but seems that no one has encountered a similar problem. Hope can find some help.Mattek wrote:

Is it possible to connect JUST the Outlook Calendar to a Sun Java System Calendar Server, using Sun Java System Connector for Microsoft Outlook 6.0?
Leaving all other outlook functionality hooked up to exchange?

Being disconnected straight away after authenticating to an MMP doesn't sound very healthy.
Has the MMP worked in the past - can you connect to the MMP with another email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird and collect your email?
Is the MMP AService.rc process crashing/core dumping?
What does the MMP IMAP log tell you/have you tried increasing the logging level and connecting again?

Sun Java System Calendar Server 6 "cshttpd" crash problem
I have a Calendar account that crashes the "cshttpd" process every time they
login to add invites to their Calendar. I've done a ."/csdb -v -f -g rebuild" and that didn't fix the problem, and it doesn't show that there are any database errors. I can
log into other Calendar accounts with no problem. You can log into this account
but once the users tries to add the invites it crashes the "cshttpd" process.
I've patch the Calendar Server 6 with the latest patches so everything is up to date with the latest version.
Any Solutions?When rebuilding the database, can I make sure that you are coping over the rebuilt db back into the production csdb directory?
Also, is it just the one user that causing the crash, do other users work and use the calendar server fine?

Java System Communications Express attachment problem
Hello everyone, please excuse my ignorance on this query as I have very little to do with the Java language and I've really approached this forum as I've run out of ideas for the problem my customer has.
The customer is connecting to a 'Sun Java System Communications Express' server, from approximately 20 PC's. 2 of the PC's have a problem that is not user based because if they sign in elsewhere their problem disappears and likewise if someone signs into their PC, they experience the same problem.
If the user receives an email with an attachment and forwards it to a recipient, no problem.
If the user recieves an emal with an attachment and forwards it to themselves, no problem.
If however, the user tries to send an email with an attachment (which for all intents and purposes seems to take the correct amount of time to upload, and when you click save appears in the message attached) the attachment disappears, including if you simply save the message in drafts and do not actually send it.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling versions 5 and 6 of Java, resetting the web settings using both IE6 and IE7 (unfortunately the initial secure server refuses any other connections from Firefox / Netscape / Opera / Safari therefore I can only test with IE)
I have disabled all additional addons, disabled all non-microsoft startup services, disabled all startup programs.
As you will appreciate, I've done a fair and reasonable amount of testing and simply cannot work out why the attachment fails to stay with the email on these two machines. Help on this problem would be very much greatly appreciated.

TonyUnfortunately I do not have access to version information of the server as I am only have access to the client end. All that I can provide you with is the fact that it works on 18 identical systems. The missing attachment(s) occur regardless of whether you save the message to draft or send the message. It should be noted however that if you receive an attachment with a message and save that to drafts, the message retains the attachment so it only seems as though it is affected during the phase of attaching the file to the message from the local PC. The environment that the client is working in uses a verified certificate and is connected through https.

I have used this tool for three weeks , in the frist week. everything is ok.
no probroblem happened. in the second week ,sometimes my JSC can not startup, so I restarted my JSC. and it can work again. later, the same problem happened again. when I restarted my JSC , it sill does not work, so I have to restart my computer and it startup successfully,
two days later, the same problem happened again. I restarted my computer , it still did not work. so I have to change my port number in the domain.xml. sometimes it woks well, but sometimes I can't not startup.
in the third week, no matter what I do, the problem can not be solved.
some of my colleagues don't have such problem. but some of them have the same problem. when I run my project on the computer that don't have such problem , it can startup. I don't know why, just a little weird.
till now , no one in our company can tell why this problem happened.
and I believe that anybody who use JSC will encountered this error sooner or later.

Restarting the computer should have stopped the appserver.
To kill the appserver manually you can go to the command prompt
<install-dir>\Sun\Creator2\SunAppServer8\bin\asadmin.bat\stop-appserv

I can't install Sun Java System Application Server!! Who can help me??
I download Sun Java System Application Server(sjsas_pe-9_0_01-p01-windows.exe),and the first time of my installation, it was blocked after it was istalled 14%, half an hour later I canceled the installation and wanted to re-install it, and I tried many times,but every time after I choose the "Installation Directory" and cliced the "Next" button it would be blocded, all of the bttons was disabled except "Choose directory" and "X"(close) buttons.

Even my Firewall had the function "Disabled Mode", I needed to fully stop all the services of Antivirus and Firewall. After that i deleted the "productregistr*" file and ran installation from the console.

It is about an intranet application that sends and receives messages. In addition of calendar and to do list and posting events..
i am using the enterprise sample on http://localhost:8080/portal and working with http://localhost:8080/psconsole
Actually i am facing troubles in this software:
first, i need to change the title in the enterprise sample.
second, i drag the instant message channel but it needs configuation !! how to do it ?

Sun Java System Messaging Server doesn't support some ISO 8859 charsets

I couldn't find any link to report bugs on the Sun Java System Messaging Server, so i guess i'll report it here:
Sun Java System Messaging Server currently doesn't support the ISO 8859-13 charset, which is the standard charset in the Baltic states. When a person recieves an email in that charset, every non-ASCII character in the message becomes absolutely unreadable when displayed in this webmail application.
This has been tested with this version of the product:
X-Mailer: Sun Java(tm) System Messenger Express 6.1 HotFix 0.01 (built Jun 24 2004)
Furthermore, you can test the case by yourself using this link: http://www.lietuvybe.org/testas/. You can enter your e-mail address there to get a few sample messages in Baltic and Cyrillic charsets. You will see that the Sun Java System Messaging Server passes all those tests except this particular one. So, it's a very nice product. :)
It would be very very very cool if Sun would fix this small, but very important issue.

The reason i'm a bit sad is about the policy of others:
First, i am not a provider of that webmail service i'm talking about. A big Lithuanian company is. Personally, I rarely use webmail apps at all, and even when i do, i use an app i internationalized myself. :). Meanwhile, i install Horde IMP as a webmail application for my small servers, and i'm satisfied with it.
The problem i described is literally not my problem. It's a problem of that big Lithuanian company mentioned above (and the users of its webmail system). I suppose this company does have that account already and, furthermore, they are the ones who should post to this forum or file a support request., and they are the ones who should be worried about that bug. However, reality differs. In reality, big companies in Lithuania don't care about correctness of their webmail apps too much. However, there are a few maniacs like me who do. We test their webmail apps, we contact them and describe them their problems and ask them to fix those problems. Sometimes, they do that, but in most cases we either don't get a reply at all, or we get something like "we'll take a look at it later". For example, lately, we had an issue with one of the most popular webmail providers in Lithuania skipping a MIME-version header. Fixing this issue is just a single line of code. However, we had to push them annoyingly for kinda few months until they finally fixed it.
That was the first aspect.
The second is that i don't really like to create hundreds of accounts for myself just to ocasionally report bugs like this one. If only Sun would let me to simply file a bug, and forget that, i would gladly do it. But no, i have to find a deeply hiden support page, then fill a form, create myself an account and a password, then log on, then fill some misterious support request... Do I have to do that for a company that won't even consider thanking me? I think that's too much. Furthermore, every party on the net enforces it's own username and password restrictions. That sucks too. I wish i could just log on as "rq" everywhere like this forum, using the same password i could easily remember. However, i have to use "rq", "er-ku" or "erku" or "rq@something" as my username on different platforms, and sometimes even my (long enough) password is not accepted. It's hard to track such accounts, and in most cases like this one, i don't really want to have an account at all, as i'm just passing by.
To summarize the post: I'm NOT a licenced user, and all I wanted was to file a bug, which affects licenced users and ordinary people.

Adding a JDBC driver in Sun Java System Web Server 7
I'm trying to configure JDBC database connection pooling for a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition though the Sun Java System Web Server 7 administration console. I don't want to use the MSSQL JDBC driver that comes bundled with the SJSWS 7. So I've downloaded the lastest MSSQL JDBC driver from the Microsoft website and put in the "lib" subdirectory of the SJSWS installation directory. So when I go to add a new JDBC resource through the administration console, the newly added MSSQL database driver doesn't appear in the "Driver Vendor" drop-down box.
How do I add the downloaded JDBC driver to the server so that it appears in the "Driver Vendor" drop-down under "Create JDBC resource".Check this documentation from MS on using the JDBC driver with DataSource

SJS Web Server 7.0 should work with any driver that has support for javax.sql.DataSource. The great majority of drivers do.
So instead of using the driver name, use the DataSource class name:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDataSource
The properties to add should be:
user=username
password=password
servername=sql_server_hostname
portnumber=sql_server_port
databasename=databasename
In general, all the setters required to get the datasource configured can be set as properties. -

How to make weblogic proxy to work on Sun Java system web server 7?
Hi Every one,
I am working on upgrade our Sun one 6.1 webserver to Sun Java system web server 7. Our website uses weblogic server to process jsp, web server only send static pages. I did all configurations as on Sun one. But somehow, the webserver does not forward "get jsp page" request to weblogic. The log record is:
for host 10.78.124.118 trying to GET /home.jsp, send-file reports: HTTP4142: can't find /www/a/WebServer7/docs/bmd9i/home.jsp (File not found)
home.jsp is at weblogic server.
And redirect "NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url="/home.jsp"" seems does not work. when I type on IE http://32.69.253.131/ (32.69.253.131 is http listener IP), it always shows index.html page under the document root.
Could some on can help? I am the first time to configurate web server. Thanks in advance.

I add one line: type=text/jsp exts=jspQuick obvious question - Are you positive you're editing the correct obj.conf? Check the config directory and see if there is a second one called something like <instance>.obj.conf (where <instance> is the name of your configured instance).
Alternatively you can grep for object-file in the server.xml to see which obj.conf the server is using:
# grep object-file server.xml

I have cheked jvm version on both system the only difference is :
Solaris points to jdk 1.5.0_09
Windows point to jdk1.5.0_05
Even i tried to run blank jsp also but again i got the same error.
Can any help me to sort out the problem or give me any idea so i can do something by my own.
