Sun JES - Messaging

I have a problem during configure messaging after finish installation (GUI interface). Under directory /opt/SUNWmsgr/sbin and to run ./configure, error messages came out as Hostname is not fully qualified. Btw, I already verify all the hosts, domain name, default router and nodename but I still fail to cont. the messaging configure.

check also the nsswitch.conf for the hosts: entry it should be change to dns files from files dns.
Also check the search order and domain entry at resolv.conf, if that file is not then create it based on this format
domain abc.com (your domain name)
nameserver 192.168.0.1 (ip for first DNS server)
nameserver 192.168.0.2 (ip for second DNS server)
search abc.com cde.com (domains you want to have search for)

  • AM/IDM with Sun JES Messaging

    Is there any information about using IDM and AM to control access, do SSO (for MessengerExpress/CalendarExpress/CommunicationsExpress, etc.), and automatically provision new users?
    If anyone currently uses these tools to do this, what does the architecture look like?
    To what extent does this framework exist in a default install (based on single-host deployment example), e.g. is a policy agent installed?
    Thanks,

    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-0821/Sun_Comm_Services.html
    This allows you to provision accounts for users by provisioning the account in LDAP (which is what delegated administrator also does). You will need to make sure that the appropriate AM attributes are added to the users entries.

  • Someone take my VISA!!! Sun JES strategy and SMB ==   need support.

    Hello --
    I'm a VERY small company -- seven seats -- looking to license JES Communications Suite. Big thing: need official Sun support because components of JES 2005Q4 REQUIRE (!!!!!) tech support -only patches in order to operate with stability (reference: UWC threads in Messaging forum -- patches are required to product to work in production).
    I spoke with Sun inside sales: guess use-license is FREE as part of promotion, but support is an entirely different matter (100 seat min).
    Sun JES message: you can't get any Sun support on software unless you spend $5,000 (ie. 100 seat min -- JES Comm Suite with Standard suppot -- $50/head).
    Surely, someone @ Sun marketing & product mgmt has head up darkness by essentially pushing SMB customer to "dark side" of Microsoft. A ten user company is not going to spend $5,000 year on email system.... period (not including hardware and datacenter).
    Summary from Sun:
    "We'll give you the software for FREE -- but in order to run the software in production, you'll need to buy support for min of $5,000/year to get required patches."
    This strategy stinks. -GA
    ============ Info from inside sales.
    So, let me throw out some numbers:
    JES the entire package with support per year (minimum 100 employees)
    Standard support: $140 per employee
    Premium support: $150 per employee
    Java Communication Suite only with support per year (minimum 100 employees)
    Standard support: $50 per employee
    Premium support: $60 per employee
    There is no way to purchase support for under 100 employees, per the terms of the promotion for JES:
    **Customers who wish to purchase support can purchase a commercial license for the Java Enterprise System, which includes technical support, updates and maintenance. Minimum number of units (employees) licensed is 100 under the commercial license terms. (pricing per above)

    In addition to the subscription options, Sun also provides perpetual licenses for each individual component product. This might better meet your needs since you are using this for a very small deployment. If you expect your org to grow in size you could upgrade to a subscription model at a later date and take advantage of the unlimited RTU. Please contact Sun Sales to explore this option as well.

  • JES Messaging Server 6.0 will not accept mail alternate address

    JES Messaging Server 6.0 will not accept mail alternate address
    I have installed the Sun ONE Messaging server 6.0 as part of an evaluation of the Java Enterprise System. This was installed along with Directory Server 5.2 and Identity Server 6.1. During the installation I created a top level organization (o=internet) knowing that I would want to create multiple email domains within it and a default domain. After the installation was complete I used the User Management Utility (/opt/SUNWcomm/bin/commadmin) to create some users within the default domain. I provided each user with a primary email address ([email protected]) and an alternate email address (mailAleternateAddress = [email protected]).
    In testing the system I find that the Messaging Server will not accept messages sent to the alternate email address whether sent from the same server (via Messenger Express) or from an external server. It returns the error message: 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias.
    In attempting to trouble shoot this problem I have watched the Directory Server's access log when such an email is sent. It shows a query using [email protected] even though the email message was sent to [email protected] In any event the DS finds the user, but the Messaging server rejects the message.
    [date_time] conn=120 op=11 msgId=12 - SRCH base="o=domain.com,o=internet" scope=2 filter="(mail=[email protected])" attrs="preferredLanguage mail mailEq
    uivalentAddress"
    [date_time] conn=120 op=11 msgId=12 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=1 etime=0
    [date_time] conn=120 op=12 msgId=13 - SRCH base="o=internet" scope=2 filter="(&(objectClass=sunManagedOrganization)(|(associatedDomain=host.domain.com)(sunPreferredDomain=host.domain.com)))" attrs=ALL
    [date_time] conn=120 op=12 msgId=13 - RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=0 etime=0
    Any suggestions to eliminate this problem would be appreciated.

    Both the primary and alternate email addresses are the same as the domain of the user.
    Here is what I want to do. Email is sent to a primary email server (not this machine). Mail for some users stays on that server to be read and mail for other users is moved to a geographically separate server (the one in question) by specifying that the mail be forwarded to the specific host: [email protected] > [email protected]
    On this second server I want to host two (or more) independent email domains. I do not want one of the domains to be a subdomain of the other. So during the installation I used o=internet as the root suffix and then used a different default domain (representing one of the registered internet domains). After installation I used the commadmin tool to create a second domain so now I have what looks something like this:
    o=internet,
    __ou=People
    __ou=Groups
    __o=domain1
    ____ou=People
    ____ou=Groups
    __o=domain2
    ____ou=People
    ____ou=Groups
    I then created some users under domain1 and some under domain2 so one user's dn is:
    uid=user, ou=people, o= domain1.com, o=internet.
    Mail sent locally to user@ domain1.com gets delivered correctly, but sending to [email protected] does not.
    host2.domain1.com is the fully qualified domain name of the server.

    I haven't used BrightMail before, so guessing from general administrivia: the server can't find the additional libraries (the config lines you showed don't include it explicitly with a full path).
    Wild guess: try adding the birghtmail library directory path (/opt/symantec/sbas/Scanner/lib) to LD_LIBRARY_PATH by changing the start scripts for the messaging service, or (not so prone to overwrite by upgrades) by using Solaris crle utility:
    crle -u -s /opt/symantec/sbas/Scanner/libIf there are also 64-bit versions of the libraries, also issue this command:
    crle -64 -u -s /opt/symantec/sbas/Scanner/lib/amd64for x86_64, or
    crle -64 -u -s /opt/symantec/sbas/Scanner/lib/sparcv9for SPARC.

  • Sun Java Messaging Server help.

    I have currently running netsacpe messaging server on solris 7. I want to upgrade or change my mail server now. I am intrested in Sun Java Messaging Server 6.
    Here i have few questions in my mind.
    Will it only install on solaris 10 (linux not) ?
    Can I upgrade my NMS 4.1 and Solaris 7 into to SJMS 6 w / without solaris 10 ?
    If I seprate install it can I able to migrate my old NMS 4.1 into SJMS 6 ?
    And lastly Solaris 10 and SJMS are free or not (without commercial support) ?
    If all things goes in my favour then please point me to the right how-to or docs.
    Thanks for reading.

    Well i have started work on it. Two question more.
    1. Does whole JES is free to use without support or i
    need to purchase any component.No purchase of any kind is needed.
    >
    2. Is it possible to migrate NMS 4.1 directory server
    users by using ldif to this new directory server. Absolutely. It's even documented how to do it.
    check in the 5.2 documentation:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-6734-10
    As for anti-spam and anti-virus:
    Our engineers believe that they know how to build an excellent mail system. They make no claim to be experts at creaging spam or virus scanners.
    We do have, however, integration with SpamAssassin (free spam scanning), and it's quite easy to integrate Clam AV anti-virus (also free_.
    Why is our Messaging Server better than other products?
    First, it's the highest performance of all we've been able to test.
    Second, the mail server is extremely stable, and scales to systems holding up to a million mailboxes on a single hose. This reduces your cost of administration.
    Third. the system is higly resistant to crashing to the point you have a lot of downtime.
    Fourth, we go to extreme efforts to never loose a message

  • JES Messaging patches for x86

    Hi,
    does anyone what the scoop is regarding patches for JES messaging on Solaris x86? On the sunsolve contract access page I can see that for SPARC patch 116568-53 was released on Sep/10/04 ,but that the latest x86 patch 116569-52 was released on Aug/13/04. Will there be a -53 release of the x86 patch that will bring it to parity with the currently released SPARC patch?
    Thanks,
    William Hathaway

    -53 is on sunsolve:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/pdownload.pl?target=116569-53&method=h
    -55 is "released", but not yet there.

    Hi,
    Just check the "Troubleshooting Installation Problems section " at http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6453-10/windows.html#34247.
    If you still have problems in installation , you can post your question in the Sun ONE message Queue forum

  • HTTP transport  and Sun ONE Message Queue

    How do I get the HTTP transport to work? The docs don't seem to be correct.

    There are a couple of errors in the Sun ONE Message Queue docs that shipped with
    the product.
    The following are corrections for those errors.
    Servlet configuration
    Please note the following correction in the Sun ONE Message Queue 2.0
    Administration Guide, Appendix B -
    The class name of the HTTP Servlet in Step 4 of the "Configuring the Tunnel Servlet"
    section is given as:
    com.sun.messging.jmq.transport.httptunnel.servlet.HTTPTunnelServlet
    The correct class name is :
    com.sun.messaging.jmq.transport.httptunnel.servlet.HttpTunnelServlet
    Client setup for HTTP support
    1.The following connection factory attributes must be specified to use the HTTP
    tunnel connection support.
    JMQConnectionType :
    Set this attribute to "HTTP".
    JMQConnectionURL :
    Set this attribute to the URL that will be used to connect to the Sun ONE
    Message Queue message service (i.e. the URL for the HTTP tunnel servlet).
    Note that there is no need to specify the JMQConnectionHandler attribute as
    mentioned in the Sun ONE Message Queue 2.0 Administration Guide -
    Appendix B.
    2.Before running the client application, set the CLASSPATH variable to include
    jmqutil.jar in addition to the standard Sun ONE Message Queue jar files.
    This file is located at "/opt/SUNWjmq/lib/jmqutil.jar".
    If the "jmqutil.jar" file is not included in the CLASSPATH, the client will get a
    "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" exception for the class
    "com/sun/messaging/jmq/util/JMQTimerTask".
    3.If you are using an HTTP proxy, set "http.proxyHost" to the proxy server host
    name, and "http.proxyPort" to the proxy server port number using the -D
    command line option.
    An example command line would look like this:
    java -classpath
    /opt/SUNWjmq/lib/jms.jar:/opt/SUNWjmq/lib/jmq.jar:
    /opt/SUNWjmq/lib/jndi.jar:.:/opt/SUNWjmq/lib/jmqutil.jar

    I would say to add master_debug to the LMTP channel on the MTA and see what more detail that provides in master debug log files.

  • Sun One App Server 8.1,Sun One Message Q3.6,administered objects in LDAP

    Hi,
    Has anyone tried hosting an MDB on Sun One App Server 8.1 listening to a queue on Sun One Message Queue 3.6 through administered objects in directory server...? It looks quite straight forward but somehow it doesn't seems to work. Any idea if Sun one app server supports this type of architecture...?
    Regards,
    Pritesh

    Hi,
    Even I didn't see any obvious reason why it shouldn't work untill I found that Sun One App Server 8.1 does not support external JNDI lookup to Sun MQ 3.6 through administered objects. However, it is possible using a newly released generic resource adapter for JMS 1.5 RC1. I am still fighiting on it and let you know if it works.
    I was getting an error "JMS resource can not be created" during deployment time.

    Pritesh Thakor

  • SOMETIMES - Could not load com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.Envelope

    Hi there,
    Well, it is mysterious - not to say frightning !
    When I first start my tomcat I get an Exception like:; Could not load com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.Envelope
    The second time it runs well. No Exception about classloading. And the app is nice.
    Hmm, why ? Cant find out.
    I think that Exception has to have some relation to jars and where they are placed.
    According to the JAXWS-page I placed:
    jaxb-api.jar, jaxws-api.jar, jsr173_api.jar, saaj-api.jar
    in my %JRE_HOME%\lib\endorsed\
    so far so good !
    The rest of the needed jars to run JAX-WS Webservices are in my WEB-INF/lib FOLDER
    activation.jar and so on
    Any Ideas ?
    Here is the Exception I get when I invoke the Service
    INFO: Illegal access: this web application instance has been stopped already. Could not load com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.Envelope. Anybody help, please !

    First, thanks for your reply jitu.
    I dont get this exception anymore.
    Well, your hint was quite right, so I think I may give you the duke stars.
    I found out that putting the jars into the shared/lib dont work. Maybe it is because I am running 3 tomcat instances at the same time.
    I put all the Jax-ws libs into the tomcat_home/common/lib directory.
    And left the endorsed libs in the java endoresed directory.
    putting the endorsed libs in the tomcat_home/common/lib/endorsed may also work.
    regards and thanks,
    footman

  • How to install and configure Sun java messaging server 6 2005Q4

    Hi all,
    Please tell the steps to install and configure Sun Java Messaging Server 6 2005Q4.
    Thanks.

    You aren't providing a lot of informations... in this case the answer could be: run the command
    /cdrom/jes_05_q4_dvd/Solaris_sparc/installer
    if you just want to install messaging server on a single host, for evaluation purpose, in the documentation
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4879
    there is an exhaustive guide. If instead you're trying to addres some specific question, then please give us more details such as O.S., schema version, and so on...

  • Problem installing Sun JES 5u1 on OpenSolaris (snv_b77 x86)

    We have a new X4600 server dedicated to tests of the latest Sun-related software stack we could get our hands on to build a demo-installation of "the newest" for a customer, so we installed it with OpenSolaris (snv_b77 was the most recent back then).
    After doing the needed tests, we decided to see how the Sun JES behaves with a recent Solaris. We have many Sun JES projects (dating back from Portal 6.0 and JES 2003Q4, JES 4 and 5/5u1); and since Solaris 10u2 (6/06) we host them in zones of a "minimalistically" configured server (approx 270 packages).
    When I tried to repeat a similar approach with OpenSolaris (snv_b77) and Sun JES 5u1, the Orion(?) installer behaved differently than on Solaris 10u3 or 10u4. In particular, there are less choice options in Directory Server (i.e. no Directory Proxy Server at all), and a dozen lines in High Availability services (HA for this and HA for that, albeit "Unsupported in zones").
    The bigger problem is that the installer doesn't succeed in installing some packages (Cacao, mfwk, jdmk) and configuring the products. I could manually register some of the CACAO components and get a working pair of Directory Server and DPS, now I'm fighting with the Application Server.
    What's sad, I don't have to do these tricks with any recent Solaris 10 server we've had set up.
    The root of the problem seems to be that the system identifies as "SunOS 5.11" and the installer doesn't seem to support that (installation goes on with a stacktrace that classes for 5_11 could not be found). Example:
    PSPERR:++++++++++++++++++++++++++ {Missing Resource Exception in the loading of the PkgRelativePaths{Can't find bundle for base name com.sun.entsys.installer.common.resources.PkgRelativePaths5_11, locale en}}
    I made a wrapper script for /sbin/uname which replaces "5.11" with "5.10" and linked "Solaris_11" to "Solaris_10" directories in the unpacked distribution, but these steps did not help.
    Does anybody know of tricks required to fool the installer to work in "Solaris_10" mode regardless of the system? Changing programs to wrappers, or replacing /etc/release and similar files are okay - the setup is in a zone dedicated to one task.
    Or is there a newer Sun JES beta release which does not need such fooling? :)

    I had the same problem this evening on b81, and have had the problem in the past but didn't care long enough to look at it. I do care tonight because I need to use B81 with Crossbow, so as I have VNIC support.
    I've spent some time figuring it out (thanks to truss + find) and I've found a way that sorts the issue. You need not rename directories (in fact, this will break it in my experience).
    NOTE: Seeing as you've mucked around with directories and so on, unzip a fresh copy of JES.
    NOTE: Sun probably don't want you to do this and it is unsupported, do so at your own peril.
    Run the installer (I've used text mode):
    Unable to access a usable display on the remote system. Continue in command-line mode?(Y/N)
    Y
    Once you say "Y", I've found it goes off creates a directory called /tmp/.entsys_CaChE
    Inside this directory you will find the following seemingly relevant files:
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_SPARC_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_SPARC_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml
    ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_10.properties
    In another terminal window, copy the relevant files for your platform to the same file but with 5_11 instead of 5_10
    cd /tmp/.entsys_CaChE
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/EntsysCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_11.xml
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_10.xml ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/PPXMLS/Clusters/OrionCluster_SUNOS_X86_5_11.xml
    cp ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_10.properties ./Solaris_x86/.install/config/com/sun/entsys/installer/common/resources/PkgRelativePaths5_11.properties
    Then continue the installer as normal.
    Then you should get to here:
    1. Install
    2. Start Over
    3. Exit Installation
    What would you like to do [1] {"<" goes back, "!" exits}?
    And if you continue now things are happy:
    Java Enterprise System 5
    |-1%--------------25%-----------------50%-----------------75%--------------100%|
    Installation Complete
    Software installation has completed successfully. You can view the installation
    summary and log by using the choices below. Summary and log files are available
    in /var/sadm/install/logs/.
    All good!
