Sun ONE Synchronization 1.1 client issues

Hello all!
I have some questions on the synchronization process, where can I get help? Is this the right place?
I suddenly got some errors like '159 items should be deleted form Palm Device' or similar and the palm desktop and the handheld aren't synchronized any more.
Does anyone know any external forums where these topics are discussed?
Thanks for your help,
Henning Heil

I've also seen "is it OK to delete 1,000,000 entries?" That tends to scare people into saying no. If you say no, you lose synchronization, and will need to force a full resync. If you say yes, I've never seen any problem.

  • Calendar Server 6.0 2004Q2 and Sun One Synchronization 1.1

    Hello,
we have a problem with Calendar Server 6.0 2004Q2 and Sun One Synchronization running with a Palm. The connection from the sync tool to calendar server works, but we cannot select one calendar of the user. With Calendar Server 6 2003Q4 ist worked well. Is there something changed in wcap in the new version? Does anybody know how to solve that problem?
    Yours,
    Angela

    Hello,
I confirm that I have the same problem with that version (CS 6.0 2004Q2). I cannot select any calendar and It looks like only the default calendar is synchronized. It used to work with the previous version, though.
We have an application that uses WCAP commands. It works perfectly with both versions.

  • Sun ONE Synchronization

When trying to sync Palm V 4.1 with ecal.sun.net using Sun ONE Synchronization, it will not push any records up. It connects and trys to delete everything off the web calander. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I am using the latest SUN ONE (1.1p2). Is there going to be a new release any time soon?

I installed Calendar Server 6.0 2004q2. Deployed Connector for Outlook on Outlook xp SP3.
It can see Calendar Server, but cannot validate account information due to invalid Calendar version.
It is not so, because Connector needs Calendar Server version 2003q2 or later.
Still I got error log entries and cannot get it to work.
Please, help me out. I don't know what to do.
I looked for new Calendar patches and install them, but it doesn't work. I tried installing Synchronizator 1.1 patch 2 and it works just fine with Outlook and Calendar Server.
    Have anyone any ideas?
Do I need to have Messaging and Comm. Express up and running to achieve this?

  • Prob w/ Tungsten T3 and Sun One

I have a Tungsten T3 Palm Pilot that is connecting to a Windows XP Professional laptop. This machine has 1GB of RAM, 40GB HDD, and 2.3GHZ. The problem that I am having is that when I try to synchronize contents from the iPlanet calendar server to the Palm Desktop ( Palm Desktop 4.14 ), I get the following error message shown here:
    Sun ONE Synchronization

    Error Message(s):

It gives me the option to proceed but when I click on proceed nothing gets transferred over, even though the message box says "Synchronization completed successfully". I have re-installed the Palm Desktop software, the Sun One Software and even went as far as starting from scratch and deleting all Palm and Sun One entries from the registry and re-installing from there with no luck. There is no date that I am aware of, boasting the year 1970 ( as stated in the log ), so I dont know why the application DateBook is screaming about this. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated it, it seems that I have tried everything. I even went to the Sun One and Palm Support Sites but still I didnt have any luck of finding the solution to this. btw I installed the latest Sun One patches but still no luck and also updated the Palm Desktop application.

    Hi Sergio,
Have you tried enabling full debugging on the Sun synchronisation tool? This may provide you with additional debugging information to help resolve your issue.
To turn on full debugging, run:
Start -> Programs -> Sun One Synchronization -> Sun One Synchronization Debug Log
Set the logging level to 5 and try the synchronization again.
The debug log is placed in:
    C:\program files\common files\XCPCSync\Log\rsSync.log
    Cheers,
    Shane.

  • Which clients are using my Sun One server for authentication?

We use Sun One ver. 5.2 .
Our LDAP clients use it for authentication.
How can I list which clients recently used the Sun One server to authenticate?
The reason I need that is because I want to upgrade the Sun One server and I want to notify the clients that I'm about to do it.
    Thanks.

  • Issues in deploying files on sun one application server 8.2.

    Hi,
We have developed a project using java, JSP & Struts Framework. The database used is oracle 9.i. We have created a single war file as it is a small application. Initially we had deployed this project on Tomcat Apachee server and now we have migrated Sun One application server 8.2.
During the deployment process we checked the "Verify" option. This option throws up certain errors for unknown reasons / resaons which we are not able to figure out. How ever if we do not check the "Verify" option the project gets deployed and runs sucessfully on the server.
Here is an extract of the Log file:

  • Solaris 9 and Sun ONE 6.1 SP5 open socket issue

    Hi
We have recently migrated to Solaris 9 environment with Sun ONE 6.1 SP5 webserver (previously using Solaris 8 with Sun ONE 6.0).
My problem is this that I have our product installed on Sun ONE webserver and every day I need to restart the virtual server running the application. Once the webserver has started and I do the
netstat -a |grep "port" I see that the status for that particular socket is "LISTEN". Now after a while like the next day or something if I try to access the application through my browser I notice that I'm not able to go to application and when I do netstat -a: grep "port" there are two entries now one with "LISTEN" and the other with "ESTABLISHED" status. The request eventually times out.
Anyone has a clue what could be going wrong..

it is certifying / authenticating that the secured
web site is owned by the genune party and the
transactions with the party is doing through a
    encrypted format.
Am i correct up to this???Correct, that is what SSL/certificates are for.
    >
    Then my dowt is that
Is it possible to make my server SSL enabled with
h out using any certificate ????( the documents you
are given is telling about certificates)No it is not possible - the whole idea behind SSL communication is that it is based on TRUSTED secure communication. If a client can not check validity of server's certificate it is not trusted any more.
It might not seem to be the case when you create a self-signed certificate, but it really is so. In case of a self signed certificate you(i.e your browser) trust yourself with whatever you do with your application on your webserver.
After all can I install some certificates lateron ??
If you really need SSL with your webserver you have to either create a self signed certificate, see this: http://sial.org/howto/openssl/self-signed/
or request a test certificate from www.verisign.com or www.thawtee.com

  • WLS 6.1 SP2 NSAPI and iPlanet (Sun One) issues

Hi. I am going nuts with this NSAPI issue. I am working in a Solaris 8 environment,
WLS 6.1 SP2 and iPlanet (Sun One)and NSAPI. I can get everything to work fine
and dandy in aniPlanet 4.1 environment. I can not get it to work in an Iplanet
(Sun One) 6.x environment. It appears that some things work differently between
the versions of iPlanet (ie. things contained in magnus.conf and/or obj.conf).
I have tried moving things, removing things, adding things and nothing seems
to work....it's almost as though the NSAPI, etc. are being ignored.
I've attached my magnus.conf and obj.conf files (I cut and pasted them into a
single file so I could upload it). Can anyone help me out here...I've been working
for weeks on this and can't seem to get any answers.
    Thanks!
    Doug
P.S. For security purpses I changed the first part of the IP add. in the files
    to 1234567, etc.

    Hi Doug
U have to put the following section
    Init fn="load-modules" funcs="wl_proxy,wl_init" shlib="./libproxy.so"
    Init fn="wl_init"

and put the rest into obj.conf

Does anybody know of a good reference document on how to properly install
    the NSAPI
plug-in for WLS6.1 & iPlanet6(SunOne) on Unix (Solaris). Many of the references
    that
I have been finding are either incomplete, have typo's and are mostly Windows
    oriented
(ie. with the .dll's, paths, examples, etc.)
My problem is that our old iPlanet 4.x works fine...everything proxies,
    etc. iPlanet
6 just doesn't want to seem to communicate with WLS 6.1 SP2 We tried many
    of the
saem things from the 4.x magnus & obj.confs...but things look somewhat different
in iPlanet 6.x (did they move tings..such as the fn's from one to the other,
    etc.)
If so..and there are big differences in installing iPlanet 4.x vs. 6.x
    then many
of the docs out there are inaccurate. Does anyone know if there is a newer
    version
of the NSAPI plug-in for Unix.
I would love to see a basic, working set of magnus.conf obj.conf, MIME,etc
    from someone
who has actually gotten NSAPI to work between WLS 6.1 and iPlanet 6 on Unix
    (Solaris)
It blows my mind that 4.x works and 6.x doesn't. An updated NSAPI plug-in
, if it exists and perhaps fixes the problem, would make my day. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

hi i'm a colleague of Mirza.
We have modified the web.xml and now server is asking for password. We dont want to specify a particular role name in authorization-constraint. We need all our authenticated users to access the application. When i remove the auth-constraint tag from the web.xml it does not not allow the user to acess the application and gives me the error "Access to the specified resource has been forbidden". To remedy this we have created a group called "authenticated" in our ldap directory server and put all the users in that group. Now even though i'm specifying in auth-constraint .. the role-name to be "authenticated" but its still not granting the user permission to the access the application.
here is the snippet of my web.xml

  • Sun one directory client on windows xp- to run ldapsearch etc .....

    Hello,
I'm new to sun one directory space.i want to know if there is any sun one directory client available for windows xp desktop to run basic ldapearch, ldapmodify commands.
    Thanks!

How about something like this for a gui : [http://securityxploded.com/ldapsearch.php]
You can also download the "Sun ONE Directory SDK for C 5.08" which actually contains a Windows commandline ldapsearch, ldapmodify, ldapdelete and ldapcompare : [Directory SDK for C 5.08|http://www.sun.com/download/index.jsp?cat=Application%20Development&tab=3#sdk]
You'll want the "Windows NT 4.0 (optimize)" version for Windows XP.

  • Getting Sun ONE Initial Context from standalone client

    Hi,
I'm having problems connecting to Sun One's JNDI from a standalone client ... I've seen other topics raised with similar problems but with no real answers.
I can connect to what i think is a different JNDI resource with:
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,           "com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory");
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url", "iiop://localhost:3700");

    Hello again.
I would like to refrain my question.
In admin console on port 4848 in Http Service node is a http-listener-2 defined.
In particular there is "Client Authentication" setting.
This is global setting for all request coming to that port.
Can I achive the same functionality using web.xml in one of the apps server on the same port without resorting to setting this global option to true ?
    Thank You.

  • Sun ONE 6.1 Performance Issues - Sleeping / Hanging

We have been running the Sun family of web servers for many years now, and ran Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6 for a long time.
Several months ago we upgraded to Sun ONE Web Server 6.0 and then 6.1. We have not had any issues until the past few weeks.
Specifically, the web server appears to 'go to sleep' or 'hang' for many seconds - sometimes up to 45 seconds - before processing any requests.
The server will accept the connection immediately but will not return a page. If left alone, the problem will go away, only to return again. A stop and start will also cure the problem.
Some background: 6 web servers run on this same server (Sun E250 2x400 MHz, 1280 MB RAM) - these servers are all relatively lightly loaded. Copper gigabit connection for network.
Primary data is static, with very few cgi-bin scripts and no applets or server-side Java.
All 6 servers have DNS lookups enabled with caching. The server also has a local DNS caching server running (BIND 9) which is used to help performance.
One of the 'public' web servers (external people can access it) is the one showing these performance issues. I've enabled statistics, and it seems during these 'sleepy' periods I see the following in /.perf (which it finally returns): (I am fetching /.perf every minute and timing how long it takes to fetch it, then saving it in a separate file):

Why do I have all of these processes queued on the server?
Is DNS causing this? I know Sun ONE 6.x does NOT have asynchronous DNS implemented (although it is an option, it has no effect). Did Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6 has ASync DNS implemented?
We would like to avoid turning off DNS resolution for a number of reasons. However, what really bothers us is that this web server's performance suddenly became a problem while the other 5 servers see FANTASTIC performance and never go to sleep (although some of them are NOT accessible from the general Internet).
    Has anyone else seen this?
As a side note, all of these web servers are using a NSAPI plugin that I wrote years ago. It's purpose is access control and automatic forwarding to different pages. It also uses DNS hostnames, but thinking it might be a problem with this web server, I've disabled DNS on the plug-in. It has not helped. Again, this plug-in has worked great for years and is quite straightforward and simple.
Something tells me there is more going on here - thoughts or ideas?
    We're getting immensely frustrated here.
In desperation we've made some magnus.conf changes but to no real effect (partially listed below):
    DNS on
    RqThrottle 256
    StackSize 131072
    CGIWaitPid on
    AsyncDNS off
    KeepAliveThreads 2
    MaxKeepAliveConnections 256
    UseNativePoll 1
    RcvBufSize 8192
    # default=100
    KeepAliveQueryMeanTime 25
    # default=100
    KeepAliveQueryMaxSleepTime 25
    # CGI
    MinCgiStubs 10
    MaxCgiStubs 50
    CGIStubIdleTimeout 45
    CGIExpirationTimeout 90
    Thanks for any pointers,
