Sun's App Server built-in messaging service

Hi,
We are exploring to use the built-in messaging service(JMS) in our project.
Could someone share what is the reliability/performance of it?
Thank you.

Yes, that seems to have done the trick, I started the Admin Console, went to Application Server - JVM Settings - JVM Options and added the new option -Xrs. There's a description of it at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/windows/java.html
(Although I am using 1.4.xx)
I can now log out whenever I like !!!!!
Cheers

  • Sun One App Server 8.1,Sun One Message Q3.6,administered objects in LDAP

    Hi,
Has anyone tried hosting an MDB on Sun One App Server 8.1 listening to a queue on Sun One Message Queue 3.6 through administered objects in directory server...? It looks quite straight forward but somehow it doesn't seems to work. Any idea if Sun one app server supports this type of architecture...?
    Regards,
    Pritesh

    Hi,
Even I didn't see any obvious reason why it shouldn't work untill I found that Sun One App Server 8.1 does not support external JNDI lookup to Sun MQ 3.6 through administered objects. However, it is possible using a newly released generic resource adapter for JMS 1.5 RC1. I am still fighiting on it and let you know if it works.
I was getting an error "JMS resource can not be created" during deployment time.

  • Can't execute web app from NetBeans 3.6 with Sun Java App Server 8

    Hi there,
I'm tyring to execute a java web application called myfirstjsp.
    In directory ...\myfirstsjp I've got:
    - index.jsp
    - WEB-INF dir
    - META-INF dir.
I can run myfirstjsp from NetBeans if I choose the Netbeans default server, Tomcat 5.0.19 (this web server is configured to port 8084).
However, when I try to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans with Sun Java System Application Server 8(configured to port 8080), it gives me an annoying message:
The Sun Java System Application Server 8 could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used by the operating system.)
    - Incorrect server configuration (domain.xml to be corrected manually)
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications preventing the server to start.(This can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified).
I checked port conflicts but none found.
The other two options don't give me a place to start (I don't know what to do with domain.xml)
    I'm working with:
    - Windows XP Pro
    - J2SE 1.4.2_04 (installed in C:\Program Files\j2sdk1.4.2_04)
    - Sun Java Application Server 8 (installed in C:\Program Files\Sun\AppServer)
    - Netbeans 3.6 + Sun Java System Application Server Plugin (installed in C:\Program Files\NetBeans3.6).
My PC has the following environment variables:
    PATH(in user MGoncalv)=C:\Program Files\Sun\AppServer\bin;,?ut
    PATH(system variable)=C:\Program Files\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin;D:\ProgramFiles\OraReportNT\bin;C:\OraHome92\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.3.1\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Personal Communications\;C:\Program Files\IBM\Trace Facility\;%SystemRoot%\system32\nls;%SystemRoot%\system32\nls\ENGLISH
    CLASSPATH(system variable)=.;C:\OraHome92\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar
By looking at the Sun App Server log file, I discovered that the log outputs of
    - Start Default Server (a link in the folder created by the installation of Sun App Server)
    - and trying to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans through Sun App Server
    are very similar.
Below is a piece of server.log when I tried to execute myfirstjsp from NetBeans through Sun App Server. Please, pay attention to the EJBC error:

Is this EJB compilation error normal ? if not what does it mean ? Sun Java App Server installation isn't OK ?
I tried to look into the Sun App Server Troubleshooting, searched forums... but couldn't squeeze any valuable info from any of them.
If you have any sugestion regarding this problem, or you know some web site that addresses it please tell me !
    Many thanks,
    Miguel

I seem to have the same problem, I cant run sun application server 8.1. The server is in c:\sun\appserver\, I am using netbeans 4.1. I recieve the same comment above:
The Sun Java System Application Server 8 could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used by the operating system.)
    - Incorrect server configuration (domain.xml to be corrected manually)
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications preventing the server to start.(This can be seen in the server.log file. In this case, domain.xml needs to be modified).
I cant see any port conflict, the server is set to port 4848. I dont know about any configurations.
    This is the Exception:

  • Integration of Sun One Web Server 6.0 with Sun One App Server 7.0

Is it possible to integrate Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the Sun One App Server 7.0??
Sun One App Server 7.0 comes with the in-built HTTP listener. But we want to know if there is a way by which we can use the Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the App Server 7.0 and not the in-bulit HTTP listener?

As suggested by you, I have used Sun ONE Application Server 7's plugin to connect the Sun ONE Web Server 6.0 with Sun ONE Application Server 7 as per the information given in Sun ONE Application Server 7 Administrator's Guide.
I have added the plugin package to the webserver and added the following into the magnus.conf:
    Init fn="load-modules" shlib="C:/iPlanet/Servers/plugins/passthrough/passthrough.dll" funcs="init-passthrough,auth-passthrough,check-passthrough,service-passthrough" NativeThread="no"
    Init fn="init-passthrough"
    and to the obj.conf
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="(/A2P2Test|/A2P2Test/*)" name="passthrough"
    <Object name="passthrough">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
    Service type="magnus-internal/passthrough" fn="service-passthrough" servers="http://<application server http listener>"
    Error reason="Bad Gateway" fn="send-error" uri="$docroot/badgateway.html"
    </Object>
The webserver starts up without any errors but never forwards any requests what might I be doing wrong?

  • NB & Sun One App Server 8.0 Bundle Admin User/Password & 503 Problem,

    Hi,
Do you know the the username and password to enter admin console in Netbeans 3.6 & Sun One App Server 8.0 Bundle?
Also when I executed my first app with the software, I got this message "HTTP Status 503 - This application is not currently available". Can you tell me what is this problem and how to fix it.
    Thanks very much,
    Blessings,
    Lorenzo Jimenez

    Hi,
Do you see the deployed web application either in the admin console on in the runtime tab explorer of NetBeans, under the
Sun Java System Application Server 8 --->Applications--->Web Applications
    node?
503 error is a Service unavailable error:
"The server is currently unable to handle the HTTP request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay. "
Can you try to reload the page for this web app?

The iPlanet server hangs suddenly with one of the KJS engines being halted. Following is the error message we see in logs.
The only thing we do is to restart the server, to bring it to normal state again. We also tried increasing the JVM size to 256mb from 128mb . But still having this problem.
Can any one help us on this issue?
    Thanks,
    Srini.

  • Sun One App Server - Oracle Database 10g

    Hi to all:
Im developing a web application that uses an Oracle 10g database and a I want to use Sun One Application Server 7, the problem that I have is when I have been deployed the war file into the server and acces to my application, specifically when I try to acces a JSP that extracts data from database, I don't see anything of the information that I need, that's not the problem, the problem is that in the server console appear a message indicating that an SQLException occour and the message is "No suitable driver".
I test my methods before deploy the war file and the connection and data extraction are correct, I don't know if the version of the JDBC driver for the connection to Oracle Database 10g is incompatible or if it's impossible to use Sun One App Server 7 with a connection with Oracle 10g.
I tried with other web servers like Tomcat 5.0 and Sun Application Server 9 and the connection it's perfect.
Could somebody give some ideas or orientation please?????, im student, all help will be appreciated, thanks!!!

    Rahul,
Yes there is an Enterprise Edition in the works. It will address the load balancing and fail over needs for deployments. More details are available here: http://wwws.sun.com/software/products/appsrvr_ee/home_appsrvr_ee.html

  • Sun ONE App Server 7.0 for Linux - When?

    Hi
the page about the Platform Edition
    http://wwws.sun.com/software/products/appsrvr_pe/home_appsrvr_pe.html
states that Sun ONE App Server supports (Redhat) Linux.
When will there be a download available for Linux?
    Regards
    Steen

    Hi Ralf,
As of today, the official production release downloads fo App Server 7 are available on http://www.sun.com.
The Standard Edition for Development and Evaluation includes an option to download the App Server 7 product combined with Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java Update 1.
You can also download the Studio 4 separately and hook it into App Server 7 very easily. See the tutorial included in App Server 7 (<install_dir>/docs/studio-tutorial/) for details.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Whether java component (Not ejb, not servlet) can be deployed in App Server and get the services provided by App Server

As I mentioned in subject, I am just wondering Whether the java component (Not
ejb, not servlet) can be deployed in App Server and get the services provided
    by App Server or not?

Nevermind folks - I got it to work. All my configuration was correct; I had other issues with the ejb-jar file that the verifier informed me of (my previous deployments were with the verifier turned-off).

  • How to develop and deploy Spring framework app in Sun One App Server 8.1

    Hi,
Can anyone give sample on how to develop and depoly spring framework application in J2EE 1.4 Server or Sun One App Server 8.1 .
Its very urgently needed for my project to learn and implement spring framework i would very thankful if any one can help.
    Thanking You
    Naveen

Pretty standard for AS8 to deploy Spring. The only thing to watch for is the security manager, which you'll probably want to turn off.

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g with Sun Java App server

I have oracle JDeveloeper 10g and sun App Server 8. I want to find out if JDeveloper can create entity beans that can run on Sun app server.
I know that sun app server uses things like sun-cmp-mapping.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml. If i create these as normal in JDeveloper would they run on sun app server? if not what configuration do i need to do?

Sun Java App Server 8 doesn't ship with the Apache Tomcat jk/jk2 connector. But you can download Tomcat 5 and install it. Copy ${catalina_home}/server/lib/tomcat-jk2.jar under $s1as_home}/lib
Now Sun Java App Server 8 will have the code required. Then you will need to start the jk connector (this is the most difficult task). Since you don't have any API to start this connector to listen (in Tomcat, the connector is started by default and listen on port 8009), the only way for you to start it is to use JMX. Pick one of the available JMX client ( jmx-ri is a good candidate), and do:
    (1) create the connector
    (2) start the connector
Then follow the Jakarta Tomcat instruction on how to install Apache and JK2.
I didn't spend the time to find the exact command for JMX, but technically it should work. Once I have time I will take a look (The Tomcat 5 Admin Gui uses JMX, so by browing the code you should find the exact JMX command)
    Hope that help.

  • Problem Re-Installing Sun One App Server 7 on Solaris 8

I will try my best to describe my problem.
I successfully installed Sun One App Server 7 Standard Edition on Solaris 8. It was installed on a mounted secondary hard disk. That hard disk has since gone bad. I bought a new hard disk and have that mounted.
I want to install Sun One App Server 7 again. I am installing through the GUI, but do not the options to install the server even though it is completely gone. I guess the installer seems to think that the product is already installed, even though the previous hard disk with all of the application server files are gone. Is there any way to uninstall or remove the installed status of the application server so I can reinstall?
    Thanks.

Thanks! I tried the prodreg tool and found the Application Server node, and clicked Uninstall. It went through an uninstall process. Even though it came back with an error, the re-install process after worked great. Thanks again.
