Sun solaris versions for x86

Hi every body
What versions of solaris for x86 are produced by sun company as yet?
Thanks
behrad

If Solaris 8 is not avail... is Solaris 10
equivalent? I mean.. if i develop my Web App for
WebSphere on Solaris 10.. will is cause a problem
when i "migrate" it down to Solaris 8?Depends. If it's a Java app that's being run by Websphere, then just make sure that both servers are using the same version of Java and you should be ok.
If it links against OS libraries, then your probably in trouble.
Call your local Sun Rep and see if you can buy a license for Sol 8 and then ask them or the client for media.

  • How can I set ne2000 network adapter in Solaris 8 for x86

    I am a beginner. I can not set a ne2000 compatible network adapter(isa) in Solaris 8 for x86.
    I do follows:
    write the file ' /kernel/drv/nei.conf ' with ' name="nei" parent="isa" reg=0x1,0x0300,0x1f interrupts=10 '
and use the command: drvconfig -i nei --failed
use the command: drv_add -i nei; devlinks; --there is no the command drv_add
use the command: touch /reconfigure; reboot
after reboot, use the command: ifconfig nei0 plumb --failed
Did I miss something obvious, or what driver should I use?

After backing up the suspect hard drive, I ran Disk Repair on it and found no problems. Then ran Disk Warrior again and no problems. It is a Hitachi, btw.
As for the PrefPane issue: Repairing disk permissions on the main volume and on the partition that holds the system did not make any difference.
Reinstalled the 10.5.8 upgrade, performed safe start and then repaired permissions again. Still getting a blank PrefPane for network.
Next step is to try and trash the System Configuration plist and Network Interfaces plist.

  • WLP 10.2 on Solaris 10 for x86 platform

We wish to run WebLogic Portal 10.2 using Solaris 10 for the x86 platform, but discovered that this configuration is not supported by BEA. Does this mean it will not work? If it work, what is the risks using it in a production environment?
    Thanks.

    My intention is to:
Restore backup tapes that in the sun v440(sunos5.9 for sparc)on  the sap data backup.
solaris11 for x86 (in vmware)do with the resumption of tests.
use sap  With a version that sunos_64 for sparc,Feasible?
    No.
SunOS SPARC is a BigEndian platform whereas SunOS on X64 is LittleEndian, you won´t be able to restore the backup there.
See note 552464 - What is Big Endian / Little Endian? What Endian do I have?
On top of that, there´s no database installation for Solaris x64 for 6.40 versions.

I have installed 8.0 Sun Solaris on Intel PIII with 393 MB RAM
and I am not able to install Oracle8i (8.1.7) on the system.
Can u please let me know as to how to install.
When I invoke the runInstaller (Shell Script), It is rising a
error stating "syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected".
    Thanks.
    Bye.

Where did u get your oracle817 version for intel solaris?
in cdrom top dir, the runInstaller is just a shell script, and
there is a binary program in install dir, try to run that
program and give out the result?

  • Netscape Bug on Solaris 8 for x86

Has anyone else had a problem with Netscape on Solaris 8 for Intel? when I resize the Netscape window, shortly afterwards, the display begins to corrupt the CDE desktop with objects that should be displayed within the Netscape window. When I exit Netscape, the entire CDE goes white with black lines across the screen.
I've downloaded the latest version of Netscape Communicator for Intel Platforms. Netscape V4.76.
    I've installed the x86_Recommended patches.
I still have the same problem. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Yes, I'm having the same problem. however when I exit out of netscape and refresh the screen everything is ok. Please let me know if you've solved the problem.

  • Enterprise Manager grid on Solaris 10 for x86 server

    Hi,
We are using Oracle 10g R2 on Solaris 10 on x86 servers.
I was going through the documentation library. I could find the EM Grid documentation for all platforms like Linux, SPARC, HP-UX, AIX etc.
However, I could not find anything for Solaris on x86 machines.
Is there any documentation specific to the x86 architecure or should I simply go through the SPARC documentation and take all the learnings from there?
    Please let me know.
    Thank you
    KV

Are you referring to the agent install or Grid (OMS) part. I don't see EM/Grid binaries for Solaris x86..that should explain why you couldn't find documentation for Solaris x86.

  • Solaris 10 for X86 Install issue: "Server for display :0 can't be started"

After fixing my "can't set locale" problem I am moving onto the "Server for display :0 can't be started" issue.

    1) error (PID 380) : Server unexpectedly died
    2) error (PID 380) : Server for display :0 can't be started
I\ve tried running kdconfig and setting XSun not XOrg. I am using a 2 channel KVM with a 3 button mouse (the only PS2 mouse I have lying around...) but the config seems to pick it up without any problems.

  • How to change current Solaris version for a program?

    Hello,
A program I am trying to run under Solaris 5.10 checks the OS version to be 5.8 or 5.9.
Can I somehow tell Solaris to report 5.9 to the program instead of 5.10?
According to "Solaris Application Guarantee" I should be able to run 5.8/9 programs under Solaris 10 with no problems.
    Thakns,
    Victor

You can use dtrace to manipulate the OS version on-the-fly.
    eg.,
    % cat sysrelease.d
    #!/usr/sbin/dtrace -Cws
    #include <sys/utsname.h>
    syscall::uname:entry
            this->in = (struct utsname *)arg0;
    syscall::uname:return
            copyoutstr($$1, (uintptr_t)&this->in->release[0], SYS_NMLN);
}This script accepts an argument, the version of our choice; so as long as the script is running, OS returns our input as output to uname -r. Once the script exits, OS returns the true version.
    % uname -a
    SunOS sunfire4 5.10.1 snv_10 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-1280R
    % ./sysrelease.d 5.9
dtrace: script './sysrelease.d' matched 2 probes
    dtrace: allowing destructive actions
.. script waits here doing nothing ..
    In another window:
    % uname -a
SunOS sunfire4 5.9 snv_10 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-1280RComplete the software installation. Once it is done, go back to the previous window, and stop the script by pressing Ctrl-C

  • What is the correct Sun Java version for Plus ?

OK so I am running Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) for Disco Plus.. Is that the correct version ? I am trying to debug an error (Outstanding Refresh) and I need to eliminate the Java version being the cause:
Can anyone confirm ? thanks OBX
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.1)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.48.18)

    Discoverer Server - 10.1.2.48.18

    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bi

    Hi OBX
Yes that is the correct version, at least that's the one that comes out of the box. You can upgrade to later versions but you have to do this both on the server and on the client. One thing that you must not do is allow the client machines to upgrade when the server is still on 1.4.2_06
    I hope this helps

  • Does Solaris 9 for x86 support IA-64 arch.

  • How to exclude X window portion when installing solaris 10 for x86

i am really a newbie to solaries,
i wanna install solaris for develop purpose,
but i don/t wanna include X window in system.
    what shall i do ?
    regards.

I use (and like) webmin to perform things on Solaris when I'm not familiar with the large admin command set.
    http://www.webmin.com/download.html
The 1.340 level has improved remarkably.
I share your interest in building Solaris 10 mini systems without X on vmware:
    - Security
    - Disk footprint
    - Service machine, without a need for a gui, and no need to develop X applications.
I'm still trying to find a good jump-start example for this purpose, because I don't need anything but the C locale, and the Asian fonts take up quite a bit of space.

  • Problems making Solaris 10 install disk for x86

    I have an Ultra 40 M2. I made a boot/install DVD disk with Solaris 10 for x86.
The system just doesn't recognize it at all, like there is nothing in the DVD drive.
    What am I doing wrong?
The DVD drive does recognize other DVDs, just not the Solaris 10 install one (I created two install disks to no avail)

How are you burning the DVD. What software/options.
    Theres a howto here

  • Solaris 8 for intel x86

    Hi,
i want to download the solaris 8 for x86. can any body guide me to find the download link because i can able to find the solairs 8 download link on sun website.

Since Solaris 8 is now an officially discontinued product,
you might only be able to get it if you buy used media sets
on an online auction site such as Ebay.
    Could you describe your hardware?
I remember using Solaris 8 on an x86 system.
For what it did, it was good.
However there was a very limited set of hardware that would function.
If I remember correctly, your concern should be as to:
    What is your motherboard chipset?
What is your disk controller chipset?
    What is your video card?
What network adapter are you planning to use?
What sound card do you own?
I had it on an Intel 440LX P-II.
Only the integrated IDE connectors were recognized.
I had an 8mb ATI Rage PCI card that let me see what I was doing.
Only about two or three specific NICs worked, such as 3C905TX or a DC21140.
My original real Soundblaster 16 (ISA slot) was able to give me the beeps and chirps necessary.
If you're hoping for most anything made in the last couple of years, then forget it.
(... and forget about USB peripherals other than USB 1.x devices like keyboard/mouse)
