SUN SPARC Clonning to SUN Intel

Dear Experts,
Please note that our Client is currently running on E-Business suit 11.5.10.2 on Sun SPARC 64-bit Server.
We would like to know whether we can do the cloning from SUN SPARC to SUN Intel Solaris 10.
Please advice.

Minimal compile & link files for sun sparc?

hi.
i have been developing an oci dir path project using redhat linux 7.3 (2.4.x.) & gcc 2.96. (see http://sourceforge.net/projects/odpd/) i am using a dev copy of ora9i release 9.2.0.1.0 installed on the linux dev machine. i would like to compile the project on a sun sparc box using sun's C++ compiler 5.3.
so, i would like to get my hands on solaris versions of headers & libraries for #include & linking. i don't see any need to actually run the app against an installed version of ora9i under solaris; i just want to compile & link. further, i don't have root# access on target machine, so ora9i install isn't really an option.
the target machine:
$ uname -a
$ SunOS nydev-app2 5.7 Generic_106541-23 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-4
on the linux dev machine:
$ ls -laF $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh*

Go to http//otn.oracle.com. On the downloads menu select Oracle Instant Client.
From the 'Instant Client Downloads' page you should be able to find IC packages to download for available platforms, e.g. Solaris SPARC 64-bit. (Latest version is 11.2.0.3.)

Sun SPARC Enterprise M4000 Server as Oracle db server?

Hi,
we're considering to replace our Sun Fire V490 Servers with newer generation of Oracle SUN Servers.
It's mentioned that next-generation product for V490 Servers is Sun SPARC M4000.
Do you have any experience with M4000 as Oracle db servers?
Our systems are mostly OLTP based with batch processing overnight.
Database with about 150 concurrent users max.
What would be our best price/performance option?

2x SunFire v490 , 4GB RAM , 2 (1x dual-port HBA) x 2Gb FC
2x SunFire v490 , 8GB RAM , 2 (1x dual-port HBA) x 2Gb FC
What do you think about consolidation of those four v490 servers on two Intel 7500 based X4470 servers?
Intel 7500 X4470 is strong enough to handle workload of two SunFire v490 servers?
Same question related to Sparc VII+ M4000 server - can this server handle workload of two SunFire v490's?

Installation of Solaris 10 on SUN Sparc M4000

I am trying to install Solaris 10 on SUN SPARC M4000.
Here is the error I have:

It seems that version of Solaris I trying to install is not support by the Hardware, when I use another Solaris 10 DVD, it works...
But the problem is that I need to install this Solaris version because others softwares are depending on that.
If someone knows how to make this installation possible, it will be very helpfull.

Hi Solaris 8 is supported for Sparc Station 5 machines and should install just fine. However Solaris 8 is not supported on 4c architecture systems like the Sparc Station 1's and 2's...etc.

Question about Sun Sparc T5220 server

Hi all,
I have a Sun Sparc T5220 server with solaris 10 attached to another sun solaris server through its SER port. I can manage the T5220 server by the command "tip" from the other server. There is not any display device attached to the T5220. I would like to know if there is any way i can manage the T5220 server through GUI? is VNC possible?

OFM 11gr1 and php 5.2.13 on a sun sparc platform

I have a sun sparc 64 platform. Currently upgrading to 11g and have most things up and running.
I need to upgrade my version of php to 5.x. Wanted to upgrade to 5.3 but apparently it is not available for my platform.
But, php 5.2.13 for the sparc is available from the sunfree site. However, it requires mysql, openldap, and openssl and some other packages.
Has anyone had any success installing/configuring and using this version of php inconjuction with the 11g OFM weblogic server products.
I'm concerned that installing them will result in port conflicts.
We have no need to install these additional packages other than they appear to be "required".

/disk0/Oracle/Middleware/as_tools/ohs/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd
httpd.worker: Syntax error on line 247 of /disk0/Oracle/Middleware/asinst_tools/config/OHS/ohs1/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: ld.so.1: httpd.worker: fatal: /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
I want to pass on the steps in the "PHP instructions for OHS" article that was on otn but it is for linux not solaris sparc.
Does anyone have any notes on installing php on a sparc platform with 11g?

Sun SPARC Enterprise T5120 GUI not working

Dear Professional,
I have new Sun SPARC Enterprise T5220 and i am booting this server to get GUI to access my installed application. but i am getting ok prompt it is not giving me access to GUI login windows.

Mirror root disk on sun sparc version 5.6

Hello all:
I am new to sun using this old version and have an old configuration question. We have the Sun sparc system
uname -a
SunOS aegtest 5.6 Generic_105181-30 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10.
I need to perform a couple of tasks for this system.
I have to mirror the root disk drive to an alternate root drive
verify that the boot sector was created on the alternate mirrored root drive
verify that I can boot from that mirrored drive
make the root alternate a dynamic mirrored drive.
Can anyone help me with this old configuration? I did find a program on tek-tips and modified it to work on my test system.
I need to verify that the boot sector was created and that the disk is actually mirrored. It looks like the alternate boot disk is a "static" mirror and that any new information written to the primary drive is not written to the alternate drive. Is that how mirroring works on this version?

hmm 2.6 too old but installboot procedure should install boot blk.
man installboot
use metastat to see the status of mirror (They should be in sync)
I hope you are using Disk Suite.
Man metastat/metainit/ etc.

Oracle 9iAS for sun sparc

I've installed oracle 9ias for sun sparc server which read the database on the database tier.
My problem are:
1. I cannot start ifs ServerManager
using root id.
message: unable to start ifs ServerManager.
invalid credentials specified.
Could someone please tell me what is:

ifs User Password >
ifs service name >
ifs schema password >
2. How to deploy oracle forms and oracle reports on the 9ias?
3. Cannot start Web Cache? What should I do?
4. Cannot start Oracle9ias Discoverer.
Please someone help me..its urgent.!!
