Quad core processors support in w550s model
Are there any plans to support quad core processors in w550s model and when to expect it if such plans exist?
The ThinkPad W550s is a model that uses low voltage processors, which means dual core processors only. For quad cores you need to look at either the W540 or W541.

VISTA Support for Multiple Dual Quad Core Processors
Sorry if I missed this in my search.
Does Windows Vista Home Basic support dual quad core processors?
Windows Help & Support:
Under System, you can view the processor type and speed, as well as the number of processors installed, if your computer uses multiple processors.
Yet I see no mention of multiple processors there -- what am I missing?Hi -g,
all Windows Home versions (XP and Vista) only support one physical prcossor with multiple Cores.
Windows Professional versions (XP Professional and Vista Business+Ultimate) support two physical processor with multiple Cores each.

Newly bought Xperia C3, responding slowly for a quad core processor phone.
My Xperia C3 is just a week old sincebI bought it and my very 1st Sony phone. Doing simple task is so annoying because of phones slow response to command wether doing browsing to text messaging, i would have to wait for the right screen to come up, or even from stadby mode to making a call, or txt, it responds so slow.. Totally different from other brand of quad core processor I've tried. My phone memory or sd card memory is is not even 1/4 full. Why is this behaving like this?
Could someone Sony-brilliant user or support personnel help me on this please. Kindly help me make my Sony experience a better one.My Samsung Galaxy S1, which is still fully functional up to now, does not even have a quad core processor, but its not slow like this C3. Same with Lumia 520 & 630.. So I don't know why would a new phone behave like this... Really annoying

Can i install quad core processor on Macbook Pro 13"
appreciate any feedback
Notebook CPUs are not user-upgradeable. They are soldered to the motherboard, not socketed. Furthermore, the firmware is not written to support a quad-core processor.
It would be less costly to sell your computer and buy a newer one with a quad-core processor. The new 15" Retina models both have quad-core processors. -
Error message after installing an AMD Phenom II quad core processor
1. HP Pavilion Slimline s5120y Desktop PC
2. Windows 7 64-bit
3. "Uncompatible processor installed, shutting down in a few seconds"
4. I replaced the AMD Athlon X2 7750 processor with an AMD Phenom II quad core processor
I had done some research on upgrading my son's computer's processor from an AMD Athlon X2 7750 processor to an AMD Phenom II quad core processor. I checked the compatible processors on the HP website and it showed that the AMD Phenom II quad core processor would be supported. The specs for the Phenom II I bought are: 95 watt / 2.4 GHz / quad core / hyper transport technology / AM2+ socket / integrated DDR memory controller / HD9750XAJ4BGH.
After installing the processor (with thermal paste) I booted up the computer and the message: "Uncompatible processor installed, shutting down in a few seconds" showed up. I tried again and the same thing. Is this processor NOT compatible with this computer or is something else going on?Please discuss this under desktop catagory for better suggestions and quicker resolution. thank you
Regards,
WW

The new 3.0 Ghz Phenom II X4 940 quad core processor and the K9a2 Platinum
Okay! So I have been looking at this processor for a bit, AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad Core Processor HDZ940XCGIBOX - 3.00GHz, 6MB Cache, 1800MHz (3600 MT/s) FSB, Deneb, Quad-Core, Retail, Socket AM2+, Unlocked Multiplier, Processor with Fan Link=http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4330959
I have the K9A2 Platinum Motherboard. I have updated the Bios to version 1.6. Now I called MSI and Tiger direct and none of them know if this processor will work with my board. Now I did post a previous thread and every one said I should have come here sooner for answers and that is what I am doing. I looked at Cyberpower PC where they are building this spec with the 3.0 ghz Processor and the K9A2. Now I would like to assume that it will work but with the manufacturer and tiger direct not giving the most accurate information I am worried.
I think it will work just fine but I am double checking before I spend the money.
So guys and gals will my motherboard support this new chip? Does any one have the processor running on the MSI K9A2 Platinum? Bios version 1.6?
Current System Specs
Vista 64 Bit.
AMD Phenom 9600 2.3Ghz quad core. Liquid cooled
MSI K9A2 Platinum MB Bios Version 1.6

600 watt power supply
1x 150gb raptor drive 10,000rpm.
1x 300gb Raptor Drive 10,000 rpm. This might help you find the proper bios a bit easier. http://www.dvhardware.net/article31234.html

I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, video card specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc., someone may be able to help you.
A screen shot could be very helpful too.

Oracle Licensing for a server with Quad Core Processor
I know Oracle Standard Edition ONE is only licensed to install on a server with a max of 2 processors.
1) Now when it comes to the type of processor does it matter what type of processors they are ?
2) Can we have 2 Quad Core Processors on the server and install the Standard Edition One ( and comply to Oracle Licensing) ?
Please do not direct me to Oracle Sales Rep, I want inputs from the Oracle experts from this forumjohnpau2013 wrote:

Therefore you MUST get the final answer from someone with authority to speak on behalf of Oracle - and that is a Sales Rep.
However, in the mean time, you can read http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/sig-070616.pdf .
SPECIFICALLY LOOK AT PAGE 15. Many people (including some in this thread) are totaly wrong about how Standard Edition is licensed.

Multi-core processor support?
Hi, I was looking for multiple core processor support on the AIR runtime but found no information... What about it? Does the runtime take advantage of it automatically? If not, are there some guidelines to create software for AIR that can take advantage of this?
It is automatic. You only have one execution "thread" in AIR, but the runtime uses multiple threads under the covers. Note that Pixel Bender shaders do run on another thread, so that is one way to offload some heavy graphics or numeric processing (if it can be done in a shader program).

I have a HP Pavilion p6710f with an AMD Athlon Quad-Core processor takes 10 to 12 minutes to boot
I have a refurbished HP Pavilion p6710f desktop, with an AMD Quad-Core processor. About 4 weeks aog I reformated the HD and reinstalled Windows 7 Prof and the rest o my software and it ran fine for about 2 weeks then it started taking 5 to 10 minutes to boot up in morning or to restart. I had downloaded a couple of things and I uninstalled them and it did better, but gradually over the last week it has started taking 10 to 15 minutes to boot up or restart. With either it takes a few seconds to get the HP stuff in the middle of the monitor, then in a few seconds it loads the choices (Function keys for setup, recover, etc.) then it takes 4 to five minutes to show "windows loading" the 3 to 4 minutes to show the 4-colored windows logo and then up to 5 minutes to load my icons and be ready to run--once all this is done everything runs fine until I need to restart, and then it is 10 to 15 minutes again to get up and running.
When I redid everything about 4 weeks ago I made an image on an external 1 Tb HD that is always connected thru a UBB Port and this morning I recovered and It reinstalled it, but it did not help.
Don't think it is the BIOS battery as it doesn't lose time.
Hope someone can help me
drp6149Seems to me that your hard drive is gonna fail soon, trying running hard drive diagnostics from the BIOS.

Is Lightroom 4.4 and/or 5 made to take advantage of quad-core processor capabilities?
In general: yes, whenever "possible".
That said, some people have had problems with CPU utilization. -

I can install Quad Core processor ?? Or What is the processor compatible with this Mac ?
Please helpHi Hatter,
I have been thinking on the same lines here as Zoomayman, just upgraded the Graphic' s to the 5770 so I can use my New Mac Monitor. On your reply to 'Z' it would help if you added the link to said Thread , saves the ordinary folk like myself hours trying to find said thread.
Any chance of said link please

Quad-Core Processor useful for Lightroom?
Hi
I need to upgrade my PC in a couple of months time and I was wondering if there is any merit in going for an Intel quad core processor. Intel are reportedly almost halving the price of the Q6600 to $266 on the 22nd of July.
Does anyone know if Lightroom can take advantage of all 4 cores? Or, am I better off getting a faster Dual Core processor for the same price?
Regards, NigelI see that Jeff Schewe mentioned that he was getting a 2xQuad Core (Octa Core?) machine so there must be some benefit in more than 2 cores.
